Cons The polls deactivate after a while so each time the class is run I have to go in and activate the polls I am going to use that semester. Maybe this is because I am using the free version of the software. Save your money and do not use it. I'm sure that there are other more cost effective and more technically effective options. Pros I did not like anything. I paid for a yearly membership and it did not work the day of my event. I also went my children's school and they did a poll and it did not work there. Cons 1\. It did not work. 2. Cons The difficulty participants have getting into the poll & using the app. I often get confused people who take time to join. The charge caused my account to overdraft, which was not only stressful but also financially impactful. I reached out to Poll Everywhere immediately to explain the situation and request a refund, but what I received in return was a rigid, policy-driven response that completely ignored my unique circumstances. Despite me clearly stating that I no longer need or use the service—and the fact that I had used it only once—they refused to offer any flexibility or refund. They cited “fairness and consistency,” but it’s clear this approach serves their bottom line, not their customers. Why This Matters: I am a journalist who produces independent documentary films. Anyone who has ever tried to build a small business or create independent films knows how difficult it is to stay afloat financially. What may seem like a small $129.72 charge to a company like Poll Everywhere is, in reality, a significant amount to those of us who are working hard to create something meaningful. I work on a college campus and I have used the software for everything from allowing students to text in their vote at a talent show to polling the audience during a talk to incoming students. It's also easy for the audience to send in their response, even if they've never used the program. Finally, the realtime polls allow you to get instant feedback, so you know what your audience is thinking. Cons I don't have many complaints with Poll Everywhere. I would say that they need some improvements in the their pricing options, but this is minor. The only adjustment I would like to see is a smaller price tag for a one time event. This site offers the ability to answer questions in a variety of ways such as select all, multiple choice, ranking, short answer. It keeps the user more interested. I also enjoy the fact that it shows the percentages of users who answered with a certain answer. Cons Although its great to be able to see the percentages of users who answered with a certain answer, I have had issues with the users changing their answer due to this being visible. I also appreciate how simple it is to customize the software for your specific needs; there are tons of options to tweak the type of responses, how many responses are allowed, the time frame for collecting data, and how it is displayed. The web interface is easy to use, but I also appreciate having the ability to download a desktop version to integrate with presentation software. Cons There is a slight learning curve to figuring out how to best set up questions. You can only collect responses for one question at a time, so managing this can be challenging at first. " April 25, 2018 4.0 Portable software to enhance a presentation and engage a wide audience! Pros Users do not need to do any prep work before a presentation in order to participate in the polls. There are tons of different options for types of polls. You can easily keep people engaged with a new question or poll every slide. Cons It was not as easy to customize as I would have liked. You have to pay to customize and even when I paid they did not have our branded company colors. It was also a little touchy when you try to upload pictures as the background. It just takes a lot of work but eventually, I was able to customize the product and have a great presentation. The only other issue I had was it gets a little "iffy" when you have multiple people trying to give the presentation from different computers when we were not with each other. At one point I had to control the slideshow via Skype while watching my partner give the presentation in another state because he was unable to activate/deactivate the polls.
