Pros The layout, options, and detail are great; the Instructure community is very supportive and engaging. It is very intuitive and you can make pages and courses look really nice. The calendar saves time and saves alot of effort to sort out thing manually. The built in messaging system is fast and doesn't require switching between applications. March 5, 2019 5.0 Pros The interface is so great, for both students and instructors! I love how it offers multiple ways to view assignments from all classes, and instructors can create an offline assignment (one that is to be turned in in-person) yet it still shows on the student schedule for all classes. The forums seemed to work pretty well too. Cons When I transitioned from being a student to or working at a company, we still used Canvas but it was harder to make it work for professional development. It was beneficial to have this as an app on my phone in order to make sure I was always on top of my classes. April 26, 2019 4.0 It makes it incredibly easy to keep up with students grades and assignments without having to haand grade quizzes and no papers to turn in and keep up with. Also direct posting of grades prevents posting errors. Pros I love that there is an,online gradebook that I can use to monitor student progress as can they. I also love that I can post my final grades directly to the college grading system with one click of a button. I also like that I can set up all assignments online and grade them and it posts directly to the gradebook. Quizzes post automatically and written assignments can be graded, commented on and posted. Cons It changes the layout of my syllabus so it doesn't look as clean. However I load it under files and students can view it that way. I would love to utilize this in my classroom as a type of blog for my students. Pros I like that all my graduate courses are in one place and I can access previous assignments and courses easily. By adding more features to suit each individual will greatly help this app to be better. Pros This software is very popular among students as it is very user friendly. It has lots of great tools such as organizations, reminders, updates and much more. It allows lectures to send feedback to students and also allows student to easily upload their work onto the site. Cons One of the negatives about this software is that sometimes it can be slow when uploading files onto the site when there is lots of traffic. I do like how the phone app seemed quick and easy to use, also I could quickly access class discussions. Cons Sometimes the login processes took a bit and also the dashboard needed to be a little more intuitive. However I am really interested in using technology and it comes somewhat easily to me. It is way too complicated for the average user. Pros Canvas has a lot of features and it makes it organized and well planned for classroom structures. There is a lot you can do with it. Cons The biggest Con is that it could be way more user friendly. Some simple tasks just seem so difficult. It worked very well and allowed me to keep track of my classes and well manage all assignments, calendars, quizzes, etc. It allows an easy chat option and email as well to communicate with others in your courses. An app is available which is handy for checking simple things like grades and due dates. Cons The program is a little difficult to understand initially, but it always has a tutorial on the homepage that allows you to review any tasks you may be needed help with. System updates were difficult to manage because it shut down the website during the time, so nothing could be accomplished during that time. Mobile isn't always the best, but overall you'll see what you need. Pros Canvas works very well to keep a calendar, view your assignments across multiple platforms, and can be very organized for assembling groups for group assignments. Messaging classmates and professors is also a good addition. Cons Canvas on mobile does not always work properly and sometimes it does not add new classes you're in. Calendar makes it easy to keep track of assignments (When professors use it correctly) Cons Sometimes you get timed out in discussions, spending an hour writing in the discussion form and then attempting to submit the discussion then the page redirects you to sign in, so you sign in and your entire discussion is gone. This could be easily fixed with sticky forms... Also the performance in slow, there is a noticble delay everytime you navigate to a different page while on canvas.
