### "CANVAS, a good way to get organized and save your brain "

March 1, 2022

4.0

It has been a good organizing site for all my activities and allows you to have an easy following process that can be checked whenever you want. Also, It is great that the format does not change too much when changing devices

Pros

I like how easy to access it is. You can follow all your courses in a single space as well as the virtual presentations. It gives and goos communication and troubleshooting space

Cons

It does not have flexibility when it comes to creating and presenting the test to be taken. It creates unnecessary access routes that tend to confuse users. Given reports, feedback or answering doubts often creates more communication problems since it is not clear where each one ends

Pros

Very simple to use. I enjoy being able to check on my courses any time of day from my phone.

Cons

The chat function doesn't always work out great. Professors often miss messages that are sent through chat.

### "Canvas at University of Twente"

March 21, 2022

4.0

In general, using Canvas is very nice. I can always clearly see what I have to do per course that I follow. I also know via canvas and the notification options when I have deadlines and what I have to do for those deadlines. Canvas has improved my learning experience, which has also improved my results. I recommend using canvas to everyone because it is so easy to use.

Pros

What I like best about using canvas is the overview it gives me. Every day, I look at canvas and I know what I have to do that day. It gives structure. My motivation and results during my studies have improved greatly, because of Canvas.

Cons

It is sometimes inconvenient that teachers determine the layout of a course themselves. As a result, each module/semester the layout differs from the others. So it takes some getting used to at the beginning how the canvas page of a certain module/semester is laid out.

### "The truth about Canvas"

February 19, 2022

5.0

Pros

This application is definitely an upgrade from Google Classroom. You have a few options when uploading homework/classwork such as submitting a pdf, like to google doc, link to slide, a youtube video, and so much more. It help you stay on track and be productive by giving access to both the calendar feature and dashboard.

Cons

When you are first introduced its hard to navigate on the application. You might have to watch a few tutorials to get used to it at first. Once you watched a few videos you should be fine. Also the constant updates are kind of annoying when you want to check your grades.

### "Canvas in three words: reliable, convenient, and innovative."

March 17, 2021

5.0

My overall experience with Canvas has been incredible. From my days using the platform at my large public high school to my current use of Canvas at the University of Pennsylvania, I have found it to be extremely instrumental in fostering my learning. The landing page for each of my courses presents the necessary information, such as grades or quizzes, in a way that is consistent across the platform, yet also enables professors to customize what different links to information appear in order to allow them to design a page which best fits the scope of their course and its associated assignments. I have loved using Canvas, and look forward to doing so throughout the rest of my college career!

Pros

I first used Canvas long before I ever even entered college as a high school student. However, throughout the years the platform has always remained extremely easy to use and provided me stable and secure access to my course content. With the advent of online learning brought on by the pandemic, I began to use Canvas even more this past year as a current junior in college. Reflecting on my increased use of the platform over the past year, I can appreciate how Canvas has remained not only reliable and convenient to use, but also innovative in that they have continued rolling out updates which make the platform even better, such a the "like" feature which enables students to engage more with their classmates' responses on discussion posts.

Cons

The one feature which could be improved on Canvas would be more clear instructions on how to update your profile photo! One of my professors requested that we change our profile photos to a picture of ourselves last week, and while I was eventually able to do so successfully, it took me a little but to figure out where to take this action.

### "Best education platform"

February 26, 2023

5.0

Overall, the best platform for higher education. Easy to navigate and it is very no-nonsense. You can view everything in an easy overviewable way that gives professors and students no headache. The platform developers have really taken the users in mind when creating it and you can feel it.

Pros

How decluttered everything is. There are clear overviews of documents, grades, courses, etc. And it is so easy to navigate and looks amazing. It’s a no-nonsense platform.

Cons

Personally, there isn’t much I can say about Canvas that I don’t like. Perhaps the thing I like the least is that it is not really a video platform. You can upload videos, however the functionalities there are limited.

### "Canvas while being a teaching assistant"

August 8, 2023

5.0

Pros

The features that are most impactful to be would be the speed grader. It is beyond simple when it comes to marking papers as there is no need to download the individual papers to mark them. You can mark them right on the platform without having to keep track of which ones you have already marked

Cons

In my opinion there isn't necessarily any features that I don't like. Other than your groups of people within the class are still there when the class has finished and you sometimes have to scroll through all groups to get to the current ones

I love this program. It works great to keep you social distanced or just in touch and on track woth your classes while allowing you to be on the go. I highly recommend this for any teacher student programs.

Pros

I really like this software and I use it on the daily to keep up with my class work while learning from home or at work. It really keeps you organized and keeps open communication between you and your teachers and fellow students.

Cons

My only complaint would be this does not let me multi task while I use it will sign me out if I use or open other apps.

### "Absolutely ESSENTIAL to ANY CLASS!"

July 30, 2022

5.0

I love using it and will be continuing to use it for years to come! It definitely enhances my classroom experience for students and me.

Pros

The software makes it very easy to track, manage, and administer a class. Many of its features can be used to enhance a live class. I prefer to use it as a supporting tool as opposed to a hub for my class. Many of its tools and features are intuitive and user friendly.

Cons

Some customization options are confusing as to how they can be used effectively.

August 5, 2021

5.0

As a student for 2 years, my overall experience has been amazing using Canva. During my entire course, I was able to easily navigate through all my courses and track the assignment submission dates, any pending action items plus use the mobile version for discussion forums and boards.

Pros

I liked its mobile application interface as well as the web interface. I was able to use this very smoothly on my phone and was able to track the progress of my courses plus the assignments that I need to submit by the due date.

Cons

Till now I haven't had any issues with this software as it is very user-friendly and all the features are quick to understand.

### "Solid Virtual Classroom Builder"

August 2, 2022

5.0

Pros

Canvas was thorough in providing all that was needed to set up a virtual classroom for an online school I participated in as a staff person. I was able to easily communicate with my students, check in on assignments, provide feedback, keep records and grades. It was fairly intuitive to use each function, and I like being able to keep all the information needed in one program rather than spread across various unrelated ones.

Cons

There were some times where I got a little lost trying to get back to the grading page for individual students and felt I had to click through too many pages to get back to the page I wanted to when looking at assignments. I also didn't like having to download student assignments to my computer in order to open them. I would have preferred to be able to fully view them within Canvas.

### "A Good Software with Minor Complaints"

August 29, 2021

4.0

Overall, Canvas is a good software. I've used Blackboard before as well, but it was outdated and had a more confusing interface than Canvas. Canvas makes it easy to see and download assignments. The two minor issues with the software are the inconvenient mobile view and the notification settings.

Pros

Canvas is useful because I can see all of my coursework on one platform that is simple to use. I can organize my courses on the home page as I like, and when I click on the course, I can see modules, assignments, and tests attached to the course. Documents load very easily on Canvas, and I like being able to "preview" documents posted before downloading them.

Cons

I have two complaints about the Canvas software. First of all, the mobile version does not work well. I never downloaded the Canvas app, but did try to go on the website on my phone. The text was so small and the menus on the left side of the screen did not load well, so I could never use my phone to get on Canvas without the app. My other complaint with the software is that whenever anything was graded for a course, even if it was an older assignment, I'd get a notification. Perhaps this is just the settings set by the instructor and not Canvas itself, however.

### "A huge step up!"

February 8, 2022

4.0

As a student in several certification courses, I'm largely just relieved by the move away from Blackboard since my time in university! Canvas works reliably—it's always a relief to know that you'll be able to access your course when you need to—and has a variety of compelling features that really benefit the online learning experience, including well-designed quizzes and interactive forums.

Pros

I feel that the quiz tool is one of the best assets to online learning I've seen in recent years. With our virtual learning system in which back-and-forth conversation (a more traditional lecture style) is not currently possible, the quiz tool allows instructors to gauge student knowledge and understanding of everything taught so far, without requiring a grade for accuracy. So much more powerful than the old-fashioned approach of requiring a weekly forum post to promote "engagement"! Canvas has a huge variety of learning tools that really enable instructors to customize their teaching styles. Instructors who use it to the best of their abilities really empower their students to learn, even in this crazy virtual world.

Cons

The platform can be difficult to navigate at times—it's not a particularly intuitive design—and materials can get lost or overlooked (not a great situation when grades are involved!). In addition, it doesn't always play nicely with certain web browsers or ad blockers. If it's best accessed under certain settings, that should be clearly communicated!

### "Has its limits, but still the best out there"

October 11, 2018

4.0

There is a paid version that you can do too. It's very expensive, and we found it still didn't quite meet our needs. For universities it probably would do the trick, but if you're a small education program, stick with Free for Teacher. Even with its little hassles, Canvas is still the best online classroom you can find out there.

Pros

We use the Free for Teacher edition. When it comes to setting up courses, having assignments, files, students, deadlines, and grades set up, it's pretty simple. Not a lot of trouble getting things put together. You can integrate videos, there's a conference capability called Big Blue Button that allows all the members of the course to video in with each other and you can share screen and everything. It has been a big help allowing our students to have a portal to do their assignments, and connect with everyone in the class.

Cons

One of the nuances to Canvas that is difficult is limiting what teachers can see. By that I mean we have two different types of courses that we run. One is an individual cohort of a few students and a director. The only way to make these closed down to just these members is to create a duplicate of the course and put those members in. Not a terrible thing, but then the courses start to stack up with all the different cohorts you have going. Plus, there's not really a way to have any updates filter down into all the same semester courses. So if we want to make an update on Semester 1, we have to go into each individual course and update it. There's also no way to update deadlines when you copy a course. So I have to change every assignment's due date so it fits in the new semester's timeline. The other kind of course that we have is an open course that anyone can jump into, and then we assign a TA to grade certain students. The problem with this is that there's no way to limit the TA's view of who is in the course. So it shows them that there are dozens of students' work that needs to be graded in their To-Do List and makes it difficult for them to know when their assigned students have actually submitted anything. Haven't been able to find a work around for this yet.

### "Best LMS On the Market"

March 24, 2022

5.0

Pros

There are a ton of settings to change on Canvas and the class can be run exactly how the instructor wants. There are many helpful options for students like the calendar and To Do list feature to help them stay on top of their work.

Cons

While this is the best service currently it still has its issues. Canvas is highly dependent on how much effort an instructor puts into learning the service. Organization can be hard with little effort put in and can end up being more confusing for students to use.

### "Canvas was not a good fit for us. Training seemed to be lacking"

November 14, 2023

2.0

The sales person was very nice and told us all the great things we'd be able to do with Canvas. I'm sure other districts can and are. It was simply not a good fit for us. We're not a large school, about 1900 students. Near the end of our time with Canvas, it was nothing more than the teachers' Canvas pages with a link to their Google Classroom. It was an expensive bookmark.

Pros

The look of the program was good. The support attempted to help but seemed to lack the understanding that we needed to start from the beginning. We had ONE teacher in the district familiar with Canvas from a previous school.

Cons

While customer support helped as much as possible, they didn't seem to understand that we had never used Canvas. The trainer they sent out started as if we already had years of knowledge of using the program. We didn't. The transfer of data from our SIS was a nightmare.

### "Your Best School Companion Tool"

May 8, 2024

5.0

Overall, I would highly recommend CANVAS and I would love to see it implemented in other professional settings (i.e. business, marketing, research, etc).

Pros

CANVAS has been a critical tool for me during my time at college. It's intuitive design allows you to check your grades, review assignments from professors, and a great HUB for all the necessary tools you need to stay on top of your A-game for school. It was also great when I used to tutor for high school students to check for daily assignments and syllabus for upcoming tests.

Cons

One of the minor annoyances with CANVAS in the past has been with professors who were not fully onboard with CANVAS. Ther would be some missing assignments and missing syllabi. The portal is only as good as its user and the same goes for students who were not checking the portal on a daily basis.

### "Finally, a student portal that makes you want to learn!"

August 27, 2019

4.0

Overall, I'm highly satisfied to have a student portal that doesn't make me want to tear my hair out. The developers clearly did a lot of research and user testing into finding out what features students need, as it still astounds me how complete of an experience the app is. Just about the only major issue with it is that some instructors don't make the most out of its functionality, but that's not really an issue with Canvas itself.

Pros

As a student who used to use Blackboard, I immediately saw Canvas' UI and overall look-and-feel as a huge upgrade. I like that it's based on modern UI design patterns, with features like the sidebar and the single flush column of content. It makes the web app inviting and fun to use for young students like me who are on their phone for most of the day. One relatively minor feature that I greatly appreciate is the in-app PDF previewer, which saves me from wasting time having to download the file or opening it in a new tab and cluttering my workspace. Just this feature alone was enough to show me that Canvas' developers really had the end-user in mind. One last big net positive I want to mention is the integration with the mobile app. It's great! Notifications show up on time and don't duplicate or perform other wonky stuff. Having a seamless experience between desktop and mobile goes a long towards making students like feel in control of their learning.

Cons

While there's a lot to like about the UI, I do have some minor grievances with it in a few places. The one thing that really stands out is how some blue links are clickable but don't actually do anything. For example, discussion threads have a clickable subtitle that shows which Lecture Section they're intended for. If it's for "All Sections", then clicking on it does absolutely nothing. I know this is a minor nitpick, but you would not believe how many times I've ended up accidentally clicking on that link intending to go the discussion board.

### "Nice and reliable"

graphic design • Canva is an amazing web-based visual depiction instrument. You can involve it for everything from making essential photograph alters to planning web-based entertainment pictures to flyers and archives. It has such countless highlights, and it comes at a deal cost of $12.95 each month. There's likewise an extremely liberal free arrangement, and client care is brilliant. It offers a decent plan insight for business visionaries and marketersCanva doesn't have nearby record stockpiling. This implies on the off chance that the site is down for reasons unknown, you should hold back to get to your plans to roll out new improvements. • Abuse of Designs. ... • No Source File. ... • Pay for a few decent elements. ... • The portable application has not exactly a large portion of the elements of the work area rendition You can browse an assortment of layouts comprehensive, however not restricted to Facebook pennants, LinkedIn flags, YouTube thumbnails, Instagram stories, slide decks, and then some. You can utilize the restricted free choice, or the Pro choice at $12,99 dollars each month (value as indicated by date 21 September 2020). In contrast with architect rates beginning from $25 each hour, Canva is an incredible reasonable other option

Pros

### "Canvas Will Get the Job Done"

May 25, 2022

5.0

Overall, it gets the job done for an online course or to have your assignments and grades in one place. It is not perfect in the grading or user interface, but you can complete your class just fine. It is the most common virtual classroom too for higher education (besides maybe Google Classroom, but usually younger levels use that).

Pros

Schools provide it for free to run courses. All of your curriculumn, syllabus, assignments, and whatever else the professor would like to include is in one place, which is nice, and you can even receive grades.

Cons

The interface is not the most visually appealing. It looks like a beginner website. I have used Canvas for years, and have always wanted a sleeker, more professional looking website.

### "Better Than Previous Learning Platforms"

September 29, 2020

4.0

Overall, I really enjoy working with Canvas. I have worked with other learning platforms, like Blackboard, and think Canvas is much richer and offers more opportunities for engagement (especially now, while many of us are working remotely). Canvas requires effort but, if done well, it is a great tool. In some cases, I feel as though I have had closer working relationships with my online, distance learning students than some of my in-person classes!

Pros

Canvas has a lot of fantastic and useful features that can be tailored to the needs of any class. I teach in-person, remote sync, and remote async. In each instance, I have developed my own infrastructures per the needs of each class. Student feedback usually notes the clarity, organization, and variety of engagements and assessments included in each module.

Cons

It does take some work to learn Canvas as it is not necessarily intuitive, at first. Although there are training videos online and often workshops made available via campus, there tends to be an assumption that the template courses will "fit" any class. And, in my experience, that is not the case! With effort, Canvas sites can be really fabulous. But it does require that the instructor consider the learner's experience as they build each site.

### "Education gone virtual"

February 2, 2022

4.0

With Canvas I'm able to track my academic calendar on the go i.e. most of the work is completed on the app without necessarily having to meet physically in lecture halls. The fact that I can get alerts on assignments and tests results my studies are proving more flexible and therefore i can easily accommodate other daily schedules with less friction

Pros

The most impactful features are the ease with which as a user i can be able to view my course content, grades and even submit assignments. With Canvas I can also take part in discussions virtually without attending physical lectures. The integration process of the app into my learning schedule is thus easy.

Cons

There is need to save on the space that is wasted especially while browsing on modules. This space can be used to add more user friendly features into the app. Instead of assignments being ordered by due dates as it is in the new additional features, i recommend additional features for reminders of any upcoming submissions
