### "CANVAS Review"

February 25, 2022

5.0

Since Canvas keep improving and I have learned to use it more efficiently, I have found it to be invaluable. It is easier to use than other previous LMS programs I have used and it integrates well with other external programs. Canvas keeps improving and so have my courses in terms of appearance and what I am able to accomplish in terms of curriculum design and assessment.

Pros

The ease with which I can customize my courses and the integration of the program with other apps and programs such as TURNITIN, GOREACT, PANAPTO, ZOOM and many, many more.

Cons

Canvas has improved since I first began using it, so now I am able to create attractive module with integrated external tools. It is a great resource and it is easy to use.

### "Canvas Student User"

May 24, 2022

5.0

Pros

As a student user of the product I think canvas is very easy to use and great for class management for in person classes as well as conducting online self paced courses. The layout of the site is intuitive and it has the mobile app which makes it easy to check stuff on your phone. Communication is very easy as well to reach out to professors.

Cons

As a student who tries to save course materials I wish there was an easier way to download the information and files without manually clicking through everything.

### "Canvas - A valuable learning tool"

October 31, 2022

4.0

Canvas has been a solid app for my educational experience, and is recommended for a multipurpose learning tool, though perhaps not as a grade book, as Skyward accomplishes that better.

Pros

Canvas, while flawed, is a great tool for teachers looking for an app or website to manage their classes and assignments. To go off the best of what the app offers, the ease of access, organization of classes, and calendar are what comes to mind. With Canvas being a mobile app as well as a website, as long as a student has an internet connection and a device, they can access it from anytime anywhere. Classes can be well organized with modules and sub folders, letting you minimize what you dont need as well as have the unit studied open for use. The calendar is a great feature too, as it can quickly show what assignments you have to do and what time they’re due by.

Cons

I must say, what bothered me most would be the grading and quizzes. Sometimes they will seemingly fail at random, though admittedly, this isn’t very often. Even then, it is awkward to have to speak to a professor or teacher about a seemingly failed grade. Automatic grading with Canvas’ quiz/tests suffers the same kind of lack of polish. That said, there isn’t too much that bothers me about the application.

I think it is a great website/app for learning and getting assignments done. If I was a teacher, i would 100% use this.

Pros

The compatibility allowed to easily access courses and get to classrooms mixed with how you can get assignments done on your own time is amazing, its very simple. Just type or attach and submit the assessment.

Cons

Not much, it can be cluttered at first, but all it needs is a brain and two hands to learn the layout.

### "Canvas turned our educational services completely around"

May 23, 2022

4.0

Canvas has really taken our information brokering to the next level. Both in terms of content and UX.

Pros

Canvas takes our educational resources to the next level. Allows us to be everything to everyone, rather than requiring hands on guidance to each user like our previous platform did. The ease of asset management is everything, and our users love how easy it is to track progress. The autonomy and clarity Canvas allows us to provide while simultaneously providing new and cutting edge information to our users has really leveled up our value-add to our users while also improving the overall user experience.

Cons

More automated feedback or scheduled reminders or changes would be valuable for our needs. As the information our organization disseminates is constantly evolving, changing, or expanding, we currently have to manually and proactively oversee whether adjustments are necessary. To be able to set reminders every quarter (or at whatever interval necessary) to review our content would be nice. It would also be nice to more easily manage when files are visible or not to the user. Sometimes we forget if certain things are turned off or inaccessible to the user, but to be able to customize certain reminders to turn on at a certain point would provide additional value,.

### "Canvas does an excellent job at providing resources and tools for education purposes"

April 5, 2021

5.0

I used this software during my last two years of undergraduate school after my university transferred from Blackboard to Canvas. Canvas is very user friendly and getting acquaintance with the software was very easy as well. The overall experience during my last two years of undergraduate school was very pleasant and I sincerely hope that I encountered this software again in graduate school.

Pros

Canvas provides several features that allow students like me with a full 18 credit load to organize, access grades and assignments and keep track of the class process. One of my favorite and most used tool provided by Canvas has been the grade calculator tool; this tool allowed me to estimate my final grade in the class to measure the grade I had to obtain in the final exam to achieve a competitive average. Moreover, the software does a great job at notifying the due date for each assignment and also, letting you know when the professor posted the grade for the exams. Another one of my favorite features is the side bar with all the updates on gradebooks, notification and direct messages that allowed me to access all the features in a fast manner.

Cons

One of the features that needs improvement is the email notification tool. This tool sent large amount of double notifications anytime there was an update to the gradebook. Also, some browsers were not compatible with the Canvas software and would automatically cause troubleshooting of the different features offered by the software.

### "Canvas is an excellent tool for educators!"

June 30, 2025

5.0

I am highly satisfied with using Canvas because it is versatile and easy to build new courses or to run existing courses using the platform.

Pros

Canvas is easy to use and it has lots of features for managing courses that are in-person or online. I believe students benefit immensely from the gradebook features that provide real time feedback.

Cons

There is nothing negative to say about canvas because it is so easy to use and that it is much better than alternative learning management systems on the market.

Overall my experience with Canvas was positive. I liked using it during my time of higher education and would recommend to other schools looking.

Pros

The thing I liked most about Canvas was the set up. I liked that I could log on and see every class and every grade. This also helped me plan my schedule for studying and assignments.

Cons

I feel that Canvas was sometimes hard to use for online students. I did not take online classes but the students I know who did sometimes had issues with their curriculum loading correctly.

### "Student Review of Canvas "

March 6, 2023

4.0

I have successfully used canvas all of my college career so far and it has helped me keep track of classes, grades, and all of the important things to graduate.

Pros

When introduced to this software I felt very comfortable navigating the app. It has many organizational tools including notifications, grade updates, help services, access to assignments, and virtual learning. Having the option for virtual classrooms during the pandemic allowed many to continue their education.

Cons

From a student's perspective everything in Canvas runs smoothly. The only problem that I have experienced is easily misplaced grades by instructors. This may be human error but there may be a better way of design.

### "State of the art, but that's not really a compliment"

November 24, 2020

4.0

Canvas has been reliable, useful, and full-featured. From what I know, it is better than the alternatives, but that is a pretty low bar to clear.

Pros

Canvas has basically all the features that a standard LMS needs. While it can sometimes lead to feature over-load, there are a lot of features that demonstrate that they know what teachers and learners want to do and a feature to do it. If you can get past all the clutter, it is very useful.

Cons

Canvas was built in a world before the ubiquity of smartphones and the new world of consumer-oriented software products. It doesn't really use any of the new paradigms of software that modern students and young professionals might be used to. The mobile apps are clearly an after-thought and don't have the level of polish you'd expect from a mobile-first product. It is understandable, but it still makes for a worse experience.

### "Lockdown Use"

March 11, 2022

5.0

Pros

It was easily assessable during the pandemic especially while we were all in quarantine. Students had access to plans and assignments set by their teachers, and we were able to navigate most things in Canvas.

Cons

Somethings were complicate to navigate through. For example, a lot of teachers could not figure out the video conference which is why we relied heavily on Zoom for teacher/student interaction.

### "Useful for all my teaching needs"

February 4, 2022

5.0

This is an easy to use interface with students. I can put up everything I need, and I can customize much of it to my needs.

Pros

I like that there are so many apps that can be used to interface with the product. I use mine with GoReact a lot and it is incredibly useful how they connect. I like that I can put up all the information I want, and that I can add other instructors to my class.

Cons

I don't like that once you go into the gradebook, you can't easy just go back to the class. You have to go find the dashboard again. I also don't like that it automatically adds points from attendance to my class. When I first started using discussion boards, it was difficult to understand. I wish I could set up different due dates for discussion original posts and comments so I could grade them as they come in to the class.

### "CANVAS: Skill Required"

November 24, 2020

4.0

Canvas, while a good software that integrates very well with other programs like Dropbox or Google Drive, also has it's downsides. Students using this program can be easily confused by the complex layout of the LMS. All in all, the program can and should be used in classroom environments, but some complex features should be explained by the instructor.

Pros

Canvas when used by a teacher is a very useful program with lots of options. Compared to alternatives like Google Classroom, Canvas has a lot of customizability in how a virtual "classroom" looks or feels. For example, teachers can make exciting home pages that have personality, which many other LMS softwares simply can't do.

Cons

While Canvas is a good experience for the teacher, the students using them can often be lead to dislike the program. Many things that are good for teachers like the ability to make modules separate from assignments backfires on the students using them. These customizability options can often lead to confusing pages with hidden assignments, causing lots of frustration that could be easily avoided by using more simple alternatives like Google Classroom.

### "Higher Education From A Students Perspective"

June 1, 2023

As an enthusiastic client of Canvas, I should say that my general experience has been out and out amazing. The framework has made my internet learning venture eminent and smooth, permitting me to advance successfully and productively from anyplace.

Pros

I truly loved Canvas since overseeing programming, both on a PC and phone was a simple. Seeing my grades and remaining focused of my tasks was simple.

Cons

Despite the fact that Canvas offers specific capacities for joint effort, it can't replace the one-on-one connection that happens in a regular study hall. It can affect inspiration and commitment when I feel far or alone from my understudies' teachers and individual students. While Material can connect for certain projects, it doesn't with each of the projects that understudies concentrating on computer programming use. Accordingly, the work process might become wasteful on the grounds that understudies might need to change between a few stages to take care of their responsibilities

### "Learn and teach comfortably with Canvas"

March 6, 2019

5.0

You can start using this platform for your academic purposes with confidence. In spite of all the above-mentioned disadvantages, generally, the platform works without any serious problem. I’m confident that students who prefer distant learning and the teachers who like online teaching will really appreciate Canvas LMS.

Pros

The platform is very easy and flexible to navigate so, you can be sure that you’ll never be lost while searching for the material you need. Besides, you can add text, upload pictures and videos without difficulty. In addition to this if you know how to work with HTML code you can have the design you like. The next thing that I like about Canvas is that you can communicate with your teacher and fellow students easily. You can send an email to your teacher or start a chat with your classmates. Canvas is used by educational institutions for two purposes: either for creating courses that are taught exceptionally online or for blending the traditional way of teaching with online one. This platform is especially useful for students who always need to find all the material on their course online, including the textbooks, lectures, homework, individual works and of course, their grades and attendance. Canvas makes collaboration between teachers and students more effective and fruitful.

Cons

It is fascinating to know that the Canvas app is available on mobile devices. However, the app needs some improvements because some features are still not available there and notifications sometimes don’t pop up. The platform successfully cooperates and works with third-party vendors. However, I should mention that some programs do not work well and obviously they need to get improvements. And finally, there sometimes some glitches may occur but I wish the platform could work more smoothly.

### "Canvas functionality evaluation"

September 27, 2019

4.0

As I was working in the academic institution, we had to use Canvas and the only way the teacher can communicate to the student and vice versa. It is where the teachers create courses, post all courses related materials and also the students get access to the courses as well as quizzes and assignments.

Pros

I was using this tool when I was working at Kepler and I was a Canvas administrator. The way the teacher can create the course and share with the students as well as the coleague collaborators is very impressive. Also I liked the way the courses are graded and so, the students are getting their results as well as comments. I also liked the way the company may create some functionalities for itself and incorporate in canvas for better usage. It is also a good tool for students' progress management while connecting it with the external tools (Blue, etc..).

Cons

The tool itself is really good and its usage in incredible. The only weak point comes in when it requires to contact the customer support. I remember the time we had to ask about the competencies which were not upgraded themselves as it used to be, and we contacted the customer support. We had waited for some months to get responded. So, that was very discouraging for us who wanted the immediate response to move forward.

Reason for choosing Canvas

Canvas was very simple to use and some of the staff members were used to Canvas more than those other platforms.

### "As User Friendly as the Instructor Designs it to Be"

May 26, 2022

5.0

Having been a slave to it for the totality of my undergrad and now grad, it suits my needs and has little extra bells and whistles to appreciate. My dual-enrollment classes used a different competitor, and I could NOT figure it out, whereas Canvas I picked up much more easily and any changes are usually easily picked up on and easy to adjust for.

Pros

\- Ease of use across all platforms - Design of interface/Overall aesthetic - Accessibility (desktop, mobile, etc.) - Being able to see your course grade in the course thumbnail - The hypothetical grades calculator feature right on the grades page (plug-in a hypothesized score and it’ll tell you what your overall course grade would be) - Assignments with exact due dates and times prominently displayed on own page

Cons

\- Most of the issues I run into in regards to Canvas involve the actual course instructor and how they organize the course; the interface can quickly become overwhelming if all of the different sections are used by the instructor so it makes it difficult to find all necessary materials (e.g. An instructor posts things under Modules AND Pages AND Discussion Board and they don’t always overlap) - The discussion board post document editing is confusing and also the tab key doesn’t indent and that confuses and frustrates me
