### "The best LMS Out!"

November 20, 2023

5.0

I will never be going to another LMS! Blackboard and too many others have issues that were solved by Canvas!

Pros

Canvas takes everything about using an LMS and makes it simple. Course and class management, grading, quiz and assignment building, and so much more have all been made simple.

Cons

It isn't free! Sometimes navigation can be alittle annoying!

### "Very user friendly"

March 8, 2022

5.0

Canvas has made learning new topics much easier and allowed for more information sharing within our organization.

Pros

Canva is super easy to use and requires very little learning in the beginning. It’s a great tool for students and educators alike.

Cons

My least favorite thing about Canva is the mobile interface. I felt that the mobile was not very conducive to learning.

### "Great Software for Organizing and Collaborating in Courses and Workgroups"

October 14, 2019

4.0

I have had a surprisingly pleasant experience with Canvas. I had halfway expected the universities software to be somewhat archaic, but Canvas has been a pleasure to use. I can find all the information that I need about my courses, upload assignments, contact people, reference back to courses I took in the past. Very good!

Pros

Canvas is quite easy to use for a program that needs to have all the functionality a university requires. The interface functions intuitively, with visual elements such as a grid of cards for the different courses I am following. I can find all the information and documents I need regarding a course, such as powerpoint files and due dates for assignments. In the groups section I can find all my fellow classmates, as well as contact my instructor. In this way, all the information a student could need regarding course content, process and people are stored in a sensible manner in one single application.

Cons

An issue that I have experienced multiple times is that it can be hard to find contact a person when they are not officially in one of your workgroups or courses. For instance, at times I had to ask something of a substitute teacher, or contact a classmate that joined the group at a later time and thus wasn't formally in the same workgroup. But because the system only allows you to contact people that you share a group with, I could not contact these people in this way, and had to find their details on the website of the university.

### "A convenient tool for class management and organization"

July 28, 2022

4.0

Pros

As an instructor, I could share my teaching schedule, the teaching notes, homework problems and solutions with my class easily on CANVAS. I also like how CANVAS keeps track of the grades over the course. I could assign weightings to homework, midterms and the final exam. The running total of the score is automatically updated whenever a score is inserted so that both students and I could evaluate students' performance. Overall, CANVAS is easy to use for me as an instructor and my class.

Cons

The platform for messaging does not look appealing with limited functions. The Speedgrader could be hard to control in the beginning, and there could be a loading issue if the file size is big.

### "Decent but There's Definitely Room for Improvement"

February 3, 2022

4.0

Pros

Canvas is a great software for course management. I've personally used this for years as both a user and an instructor. The Learning Management System (LMS) is pretty easy to navigate and there's TONS of features to choose from. Customization is easily possible and the price is fair if you truly use this software. The mobile app is extremely useful and handy. There is still quite some room for improvement but I think the Canvas team is aware and working on it.

Cons

The mobile app is nice, but glitches randomly which can be annoying. I wish there was one Back button to click to get back to the previous page of navigation versus having to rely on the main menu. I also wish there was an autosave - I feel that's becoming more and more a standard practice. I've lost so much work due to not clicking individual saves. I also find the design slightly outdated and think that should be revamped.

### "Incredible tool. Powering a 21st century education experience."

April 24, 2022

5.0

Had never used Canvas before Fall of '21 and I am so glad I have discovered it. Really makes me understand what is possible in a modern classroom setting for both in person and remote learning.

Pros

Clear outline of an entire semester in one place. Fluid communication between teacher and students. Easily navigate the flow of required information for a specific class.

Cons

This software is as good as you are. If you don't set it up clearly it will be hard for others to get the value out of it. Otherwise it makes every step of a class super streamlined.

### "Experiencia Agradavel"

April 13, 2023

5.0

Teaching and learning for everyone from the youngest students to university professors and business leaders, the platform is continually creating new features for improvement, and these improvements make new tools available for use.

Pros

Everything is well done. The platform is very specific and is intended to help students evaluate their learning history and achievements during their study time.

Cons

Sometimes it takes a while to load the login or an error message appears. The downside is that the canvas doesn't always have precise and accurate information

### "Easy way to track your online classes."

October 5, 2021

3.0

After the first couple of hours using this it was easy to understand and use. Other than getting used to the message forum, the overall experience was not bad. The toolbar at the top had a few clunky issues but was able to work around it.

Pros

Your dashboard was the the best part of this. Here, you have your current classes present and other information on the sidebar for easy access. There is a calendar that has highlighted specific dates for when your homework is due.

Cons

I hated the message forum! It was so difficult to understand if someone was replying to you or the entire group. This is because the indent from a reply to your post did not have enough margin on the left to make it seem like it was a reply.

### "My favorite course management software"

February 28, 2020

5.0

Overall I'm happy with Canvas. My students use Moodle in most of their other classes, but I'm still holding out... I just think it's a superior product.

Pros

My institution uses Moodle, which I have found to be extremely cumbersome. So a few years ago, I switched to the free-for-teachers version of Canvas, and have never looked back. My favorite specific feature of Canvas is the Speed-grader, which changed my life when I switched from Moodle. I also like the way the online quizzes work. More generally what I like about Canvas is the unified design. Where as open-source course management software feels like a hodgepodge of different options and designs Frankensteined together, Canvas feels like there is a design team actually thinking through the way it should look and operate. I appreciate the flexibility it gives me with regard to the layout of the home page, how I can control what the students see, etc. Also, over the six years that I have used Canvas, I've seen features get improved in response to user suggestions. Always a good thing.

Cons

Like all course management software, there are times when I feel that too much clicking is involved to accomplish basic tasks, or little things that should be possible are not. For example, when making rubrics for assignments, there is no way to shuffle the order of the categories. If you want to add a new line in the rubric between lines 2 and 3, you'd have to delete all the lines after 2 and start over from there. Little things like that, which aren't a huge deal, but sometimes do leave me scratching my head. Also I wish the question banks for quizzes were a little easier to manage.

### "Canvas: College Master Software"

July 23, 2019

5.0

I used Canvas throughout my entire college career, as my university implemented it in nearly every class curriculum. Though I was just one user in a sea of thousands, Canvas made my collegiate experience much easier, as I didn't have to slog through harsh weather or schedule rushed appointments to meet my professors—I could just check online or send them a message I knew they'd see. Would recommend for any college professor (as long as you're consistent with its use).

Pros

Canvas allows professors and students to create, upload, edit, and discuss academic assignments and projects with ease. It's almost like a social media profile—you can chat with other students and ask your professors questions, even while you're at home. You can upload assignments through the Internet and reference rubrics and the syllabus. Group projects become significantly easier, because everyone can be assigned specific roles to complete. Canvas removes the need for finding a time and place that works for everyone—just plug in a deadline and the rubric and you're good to go.

Cons

The only issue I have with Canvas is that it relies entirely on user input. If you use Canvas for every class, but one professor decides not to upload the syllabus, then you cannot reference it and might be out of luck over the weekend. Consistency is the key to Canvas's success.

### "Expandable"

January 27, 2022

5.0

Pros

The ability to add external tools that work seamlessly within Canvas as if they were a built in part of Canvas. This allows us to expand the ways we can provide content to students.

Cons

Some times adding an LTI integration with external service providers can be a little confusing if the provider does not have good documentation.

### "Canvas Review "

October 24, 2022

5.0

I’ve used Canvas at two different colleges for 4 years and never had any major issues. It is easy to track coursework, easy to maneuver and seems very familiar over time.

Pros

I like how organized it is and how I can track my coursework. It’s also convenient to be able to communicate with instructors and other students on the software.

Cons

Maintenance and bug fixes are pretty frequent, those being fixed would be helpful as students should always be able to have access to Canvas.

### "The Best LMS Software for Online Courses"

November 20, 2023

5.0

I very much like Canvas. I've used a few other LMS software, but the competition is not even close to Canvas.

Pros

Canvas makes it possible for courses to be as close to in-person learning as possible. In some ways, I like online education better than in-person, but a lot depends on the technological delivery. Canvas has much to offer.

Cons

Not that this is a fault to Canvas, but it can be tiresome to grade digitally when compared to hard copy homework-grading. Canvas has the tools to let you print out and then upload, but that's also a big time-waster. So I tend to sacrifice the headaches for the speed of work.

### "Best grading application to date"

February 1, 2019

Pros

I can check my grades easily online. The best tool is that I can calculate my projected grade. I can organize my classes however I want to see them. I can message people in my classes that I am registered for. It’s great tool for grade checking. No complaints really.

Cons

Set up for the instructor side is a little confusing at first and needs admin priverlages for certain features.

### "CANVAS makes higher education accessible anywhere you have an internet connection! "

June 30, 2020

5.0

CANVAS is very user-friendly and an all-around excellent way to engage in continuing education and life-long learning. Personally, as an older student, I love using CANVAS.

Pros

While I am unsure of the College's side in using this software, for me, as a student, I love using CANVAS. I enjoy travelling and with an easy-to-use, school-issued/provided LMS (Learning Management System/Software), I can take many classes online from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. The mobile application is robust and incredibly convenient, allowing 99% all-the-same functionality as the desktop version. Students can even take online quizzes and finals using their internet-connected mobile device (Smartphone). It is very user-friendly and an all-around excellent way to engage in continuing education and life-long learning as an older (personally, 42 years) college student.

Cons

The only drawbacks to CANVAS I experienced were a loss of data if the active internet connection broke while in the middle of completing/submitting assignments and quizzes. I know that CANVAS has since implemented an auto-save feature on the quizzes, so that part of the problem is resolved. Whether or not this is true of the assignment submissions, I honestly do not know at this time.

Switched from

The specific choice of LMS is made by the schools, not me. I was using Blackboard at the Art Institutes. I now use CANVAS at the MCCCD Colleges.

### "Canvas review "

June 27, 2022

I really like canvas as it’s a very useful app, but I wish small details can be fixed to make the experience more seamless.

Pros

I like that it’s very convenient to access it on mobile and I can do my work no matter where I am.

Cons

I don’t like that the deadlines for assignments are not clear sometimes so I would miss assignments. Also it’s giving me problems to export to softwares like notability sometimes

### "Superior Learning Management platform "

October 16, 2022

4.0

I have very well experience using Canvas, it is by far the most superior education platform in which teacher and student can rely on. It has all necessary features that can provide basis for seamlessly support hybrid learning experience, online and offline. Although online learning is also sufficient to run using Canvas, it still just a platform that cannot replicate the experience of learning with live class interaction.

Pros

Canvas, just by logged in, has a better user experience. I have already used 4 different similar software in universities, from my study experience in different institution in Indonesia, Australia, and now in Sweden. Visual representation of each courses clearly distinguishable, and user can navigate clearly with ease. Almost all aspect that seem required to fully running this software as learning management platform can be found in Canvas.

Cons

It takes effort from teacher to set up the content, thus, feature that stand out from Canvas also required in how much detail and personalized each content they uploaded onto Canvas. Some users, i.e. student, might have different experience due to how many features and the way teacher set up their content in Canvas.

We have to use it because it's what the school district offers. However, I wish there was another product becuase there just has to be a better way out there.

Pros

Ideally, being able to learn online anywhere you are located is convenient.

Cons

It is very difficult to navigate. Each course teacher has their own setup, and it makes it very difficult to manage multiple courses.

### "Canvas is great except on mobile phones"

June 9, 2022

5.0

4/5

Pros

I liked being able to calculate my grades and set conditions to see how my grade will be affected. It was good to login and be able to see due dates on the calendar view for all of the courses

Cons

As a student, ease of access at anytime and anywhere is crucial. I found that using the website/app on my mobile phone was not user friendly at all. It was impossible to login and very slow.
