### "Search and you may not find "

September 20, 2025

4.0

After learning and accepting the downfalls within the platform, I was able to use the platform to the best of my ability to educate myself and graduate from the program I was enrolled.

Pros

Canvas by Insructure served its purpose of providing a platform for students to access education for the program enrolled.

Cons

The search feature within Canvas did not provide effective results. I also found there to be work around a that seemed unnecessary.

### "Great experience "

January 2, 2026

My overall experience with canvas is great would highly recommend for people looking for navigation with school and great for your time.

Pros

I love how canvas is so easy to use and easy support and able to look at my classes and grades as well managing classes

Cons

Some of the things I don’t like about canvas is how buggy it can be where things won’t load and my app will crash.

### "Mediocre like most Classroom Management Systems"

April 24, 2025

3.0

It’s no better or worse than any of the other popular university classroom management systems. The biggest problem is professors not knowing how to use it, uploading things in the wrong spaces, and then confusing students. If the space were more standardized or had better user-training, this wouldn’t be a problem.

Pros

Canvas has a lot of tools and is always up and running. I’ve never had a technical problem with Canvas.

Cons

It’s too disorganized. In trying to do everything, it became discombobulated and not user friendly anymore. Students are usually much better at using Canvas than professors.

### "Great for Students!"

May 7, 2026

4.0

Overall, Canvas gets the job done and makes school life way easier once you get the hang of it. It keeps everything in one place, helps you stay on track, and cuts down on the chaos of juggling classes. Even with a few quirks here and there, it’s still a solid tool that makes managing schoolwork feel a lot smoother.

Pros

Canvas is super handy for keeping all your school stuff in one spot. It’s easy to check what’s due, peek at your grades, and see announcements without digging through a million tabs. The layout is pretty clean, the mobile app works well, and it just makes staying organized feel a lot less stressful overall.

Cons

Sometimes Canvas can feel a little clunky, especially when different teachers set things up in totally different ways. Notifications don’t always show up when you need them, and a few features load slower than you’d expect. Submitting assignments with multiple files can get confusing, and the interface isn’t always the most beginner‑friendly.

### "All in one great platform!"

March 2, 2025

5.0

As a graduate student who frequently uses Canvas, the platform serves as a centralized hub where I can access course materials, submit assignments, communicate with instructors, and track my progress—all in one place.

Pros

It is easy to navigate and intuitive to find course materials, assignments, and grades.

Cons

The discussion board feature—though functional—feels somewhat outdated compared to modern communication tools. A more intuitive and interactive design could enhance engagement among our students.

### "Choose something different, this is going to drive your teachers nuts."

February 16, 2025

2.0

Canvas is not an LMS I'd use if more effective and simple systems were available. If you have a choice, choose one that integrates more effectively with available systems, or ask your educators what programs they need integration with before you purchase.

Pros

As a middle school tech/STEM educator, I use canvas to manage student grades and work. All my lessons and assignments are stored and managed in one place. I can sync it with my state-required systems and therefore manage my grades and lessons without switching between other systems.

Cons

Canvas is easily one of the most convoluted SaaS programs I've had to use so far, and I teach computer science/technology, so I use a lot. Unfortunately, I spend easily a few hours a month writing more effective tutorials for parents to use. Most of the parents I work with struggle to use the program and observe their students. We even had a problem earlier this year when students were submitting single letters to game the system and trick their parents into thinking all their assignments were submitted. (This backfired horribly.) That doesn't include that most of my students struggle to use the program. It's often difficult for them to see and use the system, and I have to do an entire lesson on how to use the program at the beginning of the year. This takes time away from my schedule, and means that instead of teaching the subject I'm supposed to teach, I'm spending my time teaching about Canvas instead. Then, you'd need to factor in the cost and difficulty of integrating external systems. I often need multiple emails with administration to get keys and access to integrate the free systems. Most others require expensive payments that aren't cost-effective for my classroom. There's a lack of a built-in system to check for plagiarism and AI usage. This means we have to pay for expensive add-on systems so we can more effectively catch students cheating. Now factor in what happens when I copy modules into a new session of a class. If I copy a lesson plan, there's a huge chance for problems with the grades. Even if I change the due date in the system before publishing the assignment and the student has turned in the work, it shows up as a 0 in the gradebook until I grade the assignment. Which means that parents email me constantly asking what's wrong with Canvas.

We have used it for the past 15 years and love it.

Pros

Cloud hosting, good developer community, abides by industry standards.

Cons

The growth of the company has led to a thinning out of good customer support techs and success managers.

### "Canvas has you covered"

March 2, 2026

5.0

Canvas is an exceptional interface for students to interact with their instructors, particularly helpful in the distance learning environment.

Pros

I like the centralized location and dashboard utilized in Canvas' user interface. I have been a student at a few different organizations over the years, and they all look and function the same way. So convenient!

Cons

Sometimes, the administrators who used the Canvas system did not have the training to make the end user's experience as good as it could have been.

### "Effective E-learning Software"

4.0

Pros

Loved the digital-native intuitive tools and navigation, as well as the integrated customizable notifications.

Cons

Feels like they serve redundant notifications. I've configured to only allow specific types of alerts on specific devices within specific time frames, but I still seem to get an abundance of notifications for minor things.

### "Canvas: The Premier LMS for Exceptional Support"

April 4, 2025

5.0

Overall, we have found Canvas to be the premier LMS. Our students seamlessly transition from high school into the higher ed space having had Canvas experience. We are very happy with the customer support that we receive.

Pros

We have been using Canvas at our K-12 district for more than a decade. We have grown with the company as it has expanded into the K-12 market space and love that we have been able to reap the benefits of being an early adopter.

Cons

Right now I would say that we are struggling the most with the conversion from the classic assessment "Quizzes" to the New Quiz online assessment feature.

### "Great for online learning!"

March 13, 2026

5.0

Great! It is easy to use, and it is very helpful for keeping track of assignments, watching online video lectures, and downloading resources.

Pros

I love Canvas! I've used it in college and in graduate school. Everything is organized and easy to access. It makes tracking assignments and grades across multiple classes easy and organized.

Cons

The commenting and discussion boards are good, but they could be more collaborative. I've had some uploading issues with them before which is frustrating.

### "Powerful learning management system"

June 16, 2025

5.0

It handles our entire classroom experience and makes it easy for our teachers to check homework as well as respond to student work including via video.

Pros

It has all of the features that K-12 teachers and students are after including auto-graded assessments, video uploading and classroom management. Its API is excellent so whether you're managing classes with CSVs or an automated push, it's easy to manage.

Cons

It can be hard to manage large groups of classes or people in bulk from within the interface. Some tasks require a lot of scrolling and the filtering could be a bit better.

### "Canvas: Course Manager"

January 19, 2026

4.0

I would give Canvas a solid 8/10. Its authentic, safe and purposeful. It was developed to bring everyone on the same page. So, it's extremely professional. In addition to that, slight rework is needed in UI.

Pros

I used Canvas during my Graduate program at the University. I liked how everything is integrated in one platform. You can track literally everything in Canvas.

Cons

Least Liked: Since, it was the first platform I used for course management, I found it Complex for a beginner. Also, being a Teaching Assistant, grading a paper was a bit of experience at the beginning.

### "Canvas- The best software for students and educators"

April 26, 2025

5.0

Pros

The best part is that everything about classes- assignments, projects, their deadlines, syllabus, all courses- everything is in one place. The second best thing is that canvas calendar can be easily linked to Google calendar which helps with assignment due dates.

Cons

One thing which I did not like is that even though there are a lot of great resources on Canvas, but since their uses is not easily explained and they are not easily discoverable, a lot of them go unused by students.

### "A Mandatory Struggle"

March 22, 2025

2.0

I hate Canvas, it's honestly the worst program I've ever used for school. My professors barely understand how to use it for AN ONLINE ONLY PROGRAM. Unfortunately my university requires it's use as their main platform for classes. I would rather use anything other than Canvas.

Pros

Pre-programmed through my university. Built-in e-mailing system.

Cons

No customizability, the modules do not save your place or mark when you've already reviewed information, cannot remove old/unused classes, no customer support, highly complicated for professors.

### "I love Canvas!"

February 20, 2025

5.0

I have had a very positive overall experience with Canvas. In my high school we used to use a different platform, and when I switched to Canvas I immediately liked it better. It is very easy to use and laid out nicely.

Pros

I have enjoyed using Canvas throughout my college years, as it is a very organized, easy-to-understand platform. I enjoy the many different applications such as the calendar, modules, and different colors for different classes. It helps me stay organized and I have never missed an assignment because of it!

Cons

One of the things I found challenging on Canvas was the inability to cross off things from my to-do list manually. For example, when you submit an assignment, it crosses it off for you. However, some assignments were turned in in-person rather than online, and those assignments did not get crossed off on Canvas, which made it look like they were not completed even though they were.

### "on the fence"

December 12, 2024

3.0

initially, really happy easy to follow and clear layout, however when wanting to extend the options for the learning of the students I found it limited. also became hard when students were unable to get in

Pros

I liked the app version that some of our student who had iPad used. It was easy to maneuver through different pages . liked that it has immersive reader function, could be in a different colour background

Cons

the lack of interactive learning experiences that was able to be created. lack of creative ability to make the experience more visual. didnt cater for all learning styles. When learners forgot their passwords the forgotten password link didn't work. issues with learners finding the right page to log in to.

### "Canvas: A User-Friendly and Powerful Tool for all Education"

November 23, 2024

4.0

Canvas is a strong learning system that meets the needs of all education. Although it could improve in performance and onboarding, its great features and easy accessibility make it a top choice for both teachers and students.

Pros

Canvas is simple and easy to use for both teachers and students, making it a great choice for managing online courses.

Cons

The free version doesn’t have some of the advanced features included in the paid plans.

Switched from

[Adobe Creative Cloud](https://www.capterra.com/p/48969/Adobe-Creative-Cloud/)

I switched from Adobe to Canva because Canva is simpler, quicker, and more user-friendly. It’s great for creating designs without needing advanced skills or a steep learning curve. Canva offers lots of templates, and you can easily drag and drop elements to create professional-looking graphics. While Adobe has more powerful tools, Canva is perfect for everyday design tasks like social media posts, presentations, and flyers, and it’s more accessible for people who don’t need all the complex features of Adobe.

Pros

I appreciated that it provided a centralized platform for all curriculum materials and assignments in a way that was easy to find, interact, and engage.

Cons

Sometimes I felt the layers of tabs and dropdowns made it a bit complex to navigate at times. But once you become comfortable with it, it wasn’t a huge deal.

### "A fruitful learning experience"

November 29, 2024

5.0

A user-friendly LMS platform with interactive features to offer a joyful learning experience. It is best known for its variety of tools, third-party integrations and multimedia content to help grab the students' attention and increase the potential of both motivation and success.

Pros

As a lecturer in English, mainly after COVID-19 incident, Canvas turned around online learning through its revolutionary friendly-user tools that range from clustering sections and arranging activities to video conferencing and quizzes settings. Canvas dashboard or rather facilities can be naively navigated. More than that, the number of integrations is really huge to offer the best learning experience.

Cons

Though a leading LMS platform, Canvas still struggles with mobile performance; it still takes much time to load sometimes. I can add that it is hard at certain phases to synchronize updates and changes when it comes to third-party applications.

### "Canvas vs BlackBoard"

March 3, 2025

4.0

I have worked with both Canvas and BlackBoard. They are very similar as far as set up, but canvas seems more difficult for me to navigate. However, the notification and app system is much more efficient than BlackBoard.

Pros

The app availability and notifications for assignments is very helpful. I like how the app sends a notification to my phone when a new assignment has been posted or a grade is put up. Also, the calendar keeps a to do list in chronological order, which is helpful.

Cons

Canvas is a bit confusing to navigate. The tabs are not very helpful for finding information.

### "Canvas Review"

September 20, 2025

4.0

Overall, my experience with Canvas has been positive. I like that I have an app that I can use to manage all my courses so I do not have to keep a phyiscal notebook with me all the time.

Pros

Canvas is incredible easy to use and it keeps all of my courses in one place. I can easily switch between courses and submit assignments or go through lectures.

Cons

Sometimes when I submit assignments on the app, the document would not go through and I would have to try and do it all over again. This got a little annoying .
