June 29, 2026 5.0 My overall experience with Greater Giving, their staff and tech support has been phenomenal. The service has been a game changer and is worth its value. Pros Greater Giving is incredibly easy to use and teach. Volunteers pick up on the program quickly, sometimes day of an event and it all around lifts so much stress. System is very intuitive but appreciated the best practices intro. Also I have used customer service a number of times and they are easy to access, always helpful and can quickly answer my questions. Also had a great experience with our sales rep. Pros I have used our CRM system for the past seven years to manage our big event ticket sales and a separate company to manage our night of event (200 people). Using Greater Giving this year centralized everything and the system was so much more dynamic. One of the things I liked most was the incredible variety of reports you could generate before the event, for the event and afterwards. It was also great for generating receipts and invoices. Cons I have only one real complaint. I am used to being able to default to charging for credit card processing fees (giving the user the option to easily opt out). Greater Giving only allows you to let the user Opt In. Have seen far less participation as a result. I wish it was different but not a huge issue. February 2, 2024 2.0 Overall, the company offers a product that can be very useful, but if you have a small fundraising team who doesn't design websites and have a lot of experience with backend website management, it is not the best unless you use it regularly and invest the time into learning it. Pros Greater Giving offers affordable options for fundraising event software, and makes it easy for event attendees to register and save their credit card information to make check-in process quicker. Their credit card swiper machines are excellent for check in and to square donations and purchases after the event without making supporters check out at the end of the event. Cons The event software is extremely hard to use, and not intuitive unless you have lots of website experience. For one example, if you add a logo for a sponsor to add to the event landing page, it doesn't say that it has to be specific format. A lot of guessing and calls to customer service. They do have tutorials, but several are outdated, so you waste time watching and realize you need to call customer support anyway. I would refer anyone to use it who works with events and fundraising. Pros It is easy to use with solid, quick support when necessary. Very user friendly overall. Great value for the cost! Works better than many more expensive programs. This is the second place I have worked where I have used it and will continue to endorse it going forward. Cons There are some areas where more training is needed or pieces can be added to make the creation of an event or fundraiser more complete or easier. It's a learning curve for sure, but worth it. Pros Greater Giving has been instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition from in-person auctions to the online way of doing business now. Prior to Covid we had the opportunity to begin using Greater Giving for our in person events and it made such a difference in the management of our auction. The transition to online fundraising was a breeze with Greater Giving. I especially appreciate the amazing customer service whenever I have a question. So very helpful. Cons Sometimes when I "chat" with help I'm referred right to an article to read to figure it out. I admit, that frustrates me a bit, but I get it. I'm a visual person and figuring out this program all on my own, well, as an ED sometimes I just need you to tell me what to do and show me how to do it. Figuring out the website and the scrolling marque has been the most frustrating. I don't like that you can't resize the marquee of donors to make them bigger. It would be a better visual especially when you are trying to brand your event and be consistent with graphics. You can easily just use it on a surface level but the more you use more you will enjoy the software. It does take training and work to input information but once you get a hang of it will help your event run smoothly. Pros Greater Giving is an excellent software that assists with all of your event planning needs: tracking, invitations, silent auction, etc. If you are hosting a large silent auction this software is the best bang for your buck. The great thing about this sofware is that it also stores all your previous information as far as guest list, attendees, those who have made purchases of from your silent auction and safely stores personal information. Cons One hiccup we have encountered with the software is that it can only be tied to one bank account that we have found. Our organization uses seperate bank accounts for different events and have a few different facets of our organization so different programs need to stay in their own field. " July 14, 2023 5.0 Pros Like many non-profits, we transitioned to an online platform during COVID but are now 'hybrid' with an online silent auction but live in person event. I was not on the team that selected GG for our first COVID/online event, but it was a wise choice. Honestly, I only use it now for the 4-5 months leading up to our annual event so there's always a little bit of time relearning things which have slipped from memory! It can be tricky to remember all of the operational details when you're not using it on a routine basis. As the title of my review says tho, for the times when operations aren't intuitive, customer service is always VERY helpful and gets me back on track in short order. I am an auction consultant and currently use GG at 5 non-profits and I’m getting ready to add another one. Pros Integration of Greater Giving was very user friendly and met all our needs. Cons The only draw back is when a donor donates more than one of an item for an auction and it will be placed in multiple packages. I have to enter multiple items. You can’t copy and use separately. October 20, 2016 4.0 Our development office has now been using Greater Giving for a little over 2 years, after doing some extensive research and choosing it as the BEST option. This has given us the opportunity to use it for many different events more than once and across different departments/colleges within the medical university. Because it is web based, there are no restrictions on number of users and you can lock/unlock per event we have used it with select "third party" events- where all proceeds benefit us but the event is run by a group of volunteers and not a formal organization. It helped us streamline some of our functions for all our various events. It has also given us an opportunity to try some peer to peer fundraising. Other departments have now begun using it and others are now attempting events because this platform is available. We've found the ease of use in training our volunteers and interns a plus. The fact that almost anyone can be trained to create a landing page for ticket sales, auctions and peer to peer campaigns is a huge advantage for our organization. Go Time (day of event) process is another favorite aspect of Greater Giving. Overall we have been so pleased with both the customer support- some of our suggestions have even been incorporated in 2 upgrades since we've been using it! And they've actually lowered instead of increased the cost on Mobile Bidding (you used to have to pay per mb event and now it's a once a year cost) Not only are more funds raised, Greater Giving give us back time as well! Pros It's overall ease of use and convenience. Cons Some of the features are difficult to use/not up to par- peer to peer fundraising for ex. Also the webpage/landing page building can be quite complicated and the tutorial isn't comprehensive enough. Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Transform your Auction experience!" October 18, 2016 5.0 Our school has benefited tremendously by using the Event Software and Mobile Bidding. In a few weeks we will be using both for the third time at our next Auction fundraiser. After the first year, we not only paid for the software and mobile bidding BUT increased our silent auction profit by $10,000! The program is very easy to use, streamlines all of our donations, and allows us to perform quick reviews post-event. Customer service has been exceptional. Several calls are set up with the Greater Giving team prior to the event and a team member is available during the entire duration of the event. All questions have been answered quickly. The Greater Giving team continues to give suggestions each year as to what we can try at our next event to help increase our profit. And both years the software has been updated with new features. Biggest benefit for our school has been the elimination of long checkout lines at the end of the night. With Mobile Bidding, guests having registered a credit card either before the event or during check-in are instantly notified of their winnings as soon as the Silent Auction closes. Priceless! We continue, a few years into our experience, to get great reviews from our attendees about the significant improvements that this package has made to our annual funraiser. Pros This software is fairly straightforward to use for event management. It is pretty intuitive for a beginner user but anything moderately advanced requires some additional training. Customer service is pretty responsive and help articles are informative and easy to find the topics you are looking for. I particularly like how easy it is to assign people to tables on the back end. Cons Overall, this software feels outdated to me, compared to other software. Some things- like logo placement on an event page- cannot be changed. In fact, I feel all the functions on the event page are not as customizable as they could be. It doesn't follow the flow or feel of our website and looks out of place. The thermometer view that can be shown during events to capture live donations is better than any others and that alone usually convinces my clients to use Greater Giving. Cons Greater Giving is not as affordable as other platforms and if my clients decide not to use it, it is usually because of the price - specifically because of the online auction add on. Last year, we added the mobile bidding component. When we jumped from 'paper' to Greater Giving in 2012, our goal was to make our guests' experiences at the gala as painless as possible. We also wanted to make it easier to manage for the volunteer leadership in our cash out room. With the help of Greater Giving, our gala has become one of the best in Rochester, NY. We have over 700 guests that register quickly and easily, and most who choose to pre-swipe a credit card, making the check out process no longer a necessity at the end of the evening. Our auctions have grown, and the return on value as gone from 55% to 78% last year - the first time we used mobile bidding. The Greater Giving service team has been exceptional, often responding the same day when contacted, always by the end of the next business day. Greater Giving has many layers and takes time to truly understand all that it can do to help with your events. However, it is easy to understand, and the time invested will pay off with happy attendees and volunteers and significant growth in amount raised. My questions are always answered very quickly and there is always someone willing to walk me through what I'm doing. The team is wonderful over there. Pros It can do a LOT. You can do events in person, virtually, run raffles, sell tickets, etc etc etc. It covers the gamut of fundraising activities. Cons It is not super easy to use. Perhaps because it is capable of doing so many things that is why, but it requires more than a few calls and trainings and help manuals to figure out what you need to do in order to get what you want to happen. Pros The auction portion of this product is really great. I've used this for many events and it is very efficient. Ticketed events are easy to set up, and you can really customize your event pages to your liking. Cons The reporting and export features work ok, but could be more robust. They have a mobil bidding platform, but that could also use more advancements as well.
