Pros Its cheap. It works to sell event tickets. It did not really provide a full feature set for our use case. Cons The display is awkward and hard to make changes to. Most of their issues could be cleared up by looking at the forum questions but when I first started using it it was difficult. Pros We used this product to not only sell tickets but also to handle our registrations for classes at our LEARNING CENTER for homeschool and charter school students. It was easy to use, easy to add information and photos, and looked good on our website. It had a decent roll sheet and contact system. Cons I could not get it to look like the showcase samples unless I hired a professional developer. I also hated that they took money out of my account without asking me. This is why I stopped my credit card with them. I want to be able to control what I spend and not be getting almost monthly charges. Then there was no one to contact to get my money back. Director, Management Information Systems Public Policy ### "Event Registration for WordPress" 5.0 Overall Rating 5.0 5.0 Ease of Use 4.0 4.0 Features 3.0 3.0 Customer Service 4.0 4.0 Likelihood to Recommend 8/10 December 17, 2018 To be fair, Event Espresso does offer discounts on renewal (licenses to the core and add-ons are annual subscriptions) so the overall cost is somewhat softened after the high initial cost. And the software works really well and is frequently updated to ensure compatibility with the most recent versions of WordPress. So while it's expensive, at least I'm getting a quality product. Pros I use Event Espresso for WordPress to allow parents to sign their children up for classes. The software works well and is highly extensible. I doubt you'll need functionality they don't offer, either through the core package or through one of the many add-ons they have available. There are many payment gateways supported, for instance, so collecting funds is easy. Since each event is a post, you can combine events with standard WordPress functionality, such as assigning the post to a category, to make it easier for your site visitors to filter events and find the event they are looking for. The core package includes many options for sending automatic emails to users as they register for events. Add-ons let you extend the core package to work for letting users enroll in sessions at an event, such as a conference, on site. This is a very mature WordPress plugin, with robust customer support and superb documentation. I've never not been able to find the answer to question I have had about using the software. Cons The cost. Too many features are sold as add-ons that I feel should be included in the core product. For instance, integration with WordPress users (the ability for Event Espresso to allow a user's site registration be their Event Espresso registration) is a for-cost add-on. That that is not included in the core is a huge miss and leaves one thinking that Event Espresso is nickel-and-diming its customers. The trouble is, this is great software and I have not found another product that offers all the features I need, so I have no choice but to keep paying. I was incredibly grateful for the time he took for me! Pros This product was really a gem when it came to creating a system for a client to support their online class options with check in. The functionality was perfect, and unlike anything else that was out there for the cost. Cons When I was building the platform for this client, it was very difficult to use without WordPress knowledge. The support forums were spotty with information. Pros This product is a great tool for dealing with tickets and memberships to our SciFi conventions. It works far better than tools that aim at e-commerce (which expect things like inventory and goods). The current version, EE4, has some significant improvements from the prior version which improve functionality and usability. Cons Reporting in EE is still somewhat limited, and direct exports into things like QuickBooks are still in the works. (They can do purchasing with QuickBooks.) I expect that this will continue to develop as users submit requests for change.
