Pros Lots of options for organization. Calendar Turning in homework is easy. Easy to navigate, even kindergarten-aged kids can do it. Shows videos on the same screen, not via a new tab. Seems to integrate well with Google products such as Google Docs and Slides. Cons Load times can vary. Have to open in a separate window half of the time otherwise, folders won't work. Great way to keep parents in the loop with what is going on with their child in school. Pros LOVE this software! My son went to preschool last year and this product was a great way to help me stay in contact with his teachers. There are so many other features on the software that I haven't used yet as he doesn't get graded like other grades yet. I will be able to see the courses he takes, the grades he receives and so much more. Excited for the new school year to start to get those updates from his teachers and his school! Cons Last year, we did notice that there was a couple bugs with the software. By not being able to post or only posting half at a time. June 25, 2018 5.0 Pros I used schoology for about 8-9 years as a homeschooling mom. It allowed me to manage my kids assignments and share their progress and status with their dad or even the kids grandparents. It was like a parent-teacher conference room online. As my kids got older and transferred to a charter school for high school, I shared the resource with the school principal and now the entire school uses it for all their instructors and courses. May 2, 2018 5.0 Pros The ability to connect assignments with State Standards to create Mastery Grading. Connecting parents with their own log in meant that there were no surprises when it came time for grade reports and when parents were surprised, I could easily see if they had created a parent account. The time/date stamp on assignments was very helpful when a student tried to pit me against their parents. I also appreciated the option to personalize classes with photos, color code folders, and set announcement banners. I can't imagine teaching in today's Ed Tech world without Schoology. Cons Some of the features (such as badges) do not show on the IOS app. This was frustrating for me when implementing "gamification". Students needed a laptop or PC to view badges earned. It's like social media for everyone involved. People can view, like and comment posts and assignments. It's very easy to upload material from Google. This app can be learned by anyone, any age! Cons The only feature I feel like could be improved is the interface look. There isn't much customization so it makes the app itself LOOK boring. In 2020, looks are important to people! Most of the administrators at my school have fought to keep it because of how effective and simple it is to use. Pros I loved how I had the ease of turning in assignments and communicating with my teachers and counselors. I never felt disconnected or alone because I could email a teacher and get a response quickly. Cons Our administration locked certain features of the program, which didn't allow any of the students to communicate except in the comment section. Cons We would like to be better interoperability between Schoology and Infinite Campus. We are piloting the passback feature, but there are a few glitches. We are on week 5 of distance learning using Schoology and I still cannot say that it's easy. Pros the thing that I like most about schoology is that it has allowed my son to be a distance learner and stay in his classes with his teacher and classmates. Cons The thing I like least about Schoology is that it is not user-friendly. It allows the teachers a variety of freedom 2 set up their class 4, homework, excetera period, which is very, very confusing for the distance Learners who are relying 100% on schoology for their daily work. It has a user friendly interface and a lot of options and features for both the beginning user as well as the advanced user. Content can be formatted to look similar to other simple LMS or very dynamic for a rich and robust user experience. Cons There are a large number of features and it takes time and experience to use them in a creative way. I find the software easy to operate, log in to, get my grades and keep up with. Communicating with my assigned teacher has been very efficient. I have taken online classes in the past, bu this has been the best experience. Pros I am taking online classes, which is super convenient for me, I am grateful for the software that allows me to do that. It is easy to log on, it has an app, I can do an assignment anywhere when I have a few minutes. I can access my teacher easily while working on my schoolwork, it has several ways to email or send messages. Cons I would like to toggle between my assignments and text. Maybe it is my computer, but it logs me out when I need to look at my textbook that I have downloaded. It is a such a great tool to personalize and enhance learning for both teachers and students. There are wide variety of features that make Schoology the top choice for all different learners- opportunities for enrichment, individually assigned tasks, language translation, and places for students to post and share their work. Pros \- Customer Service is amazing and quick - Easily integrates with our SIS - Ability to share resources with other teachers - easy interface for secondary students with multiple courses Cons \- there were a few updates I did not love- the "top 12" for courses, opening links in the same window instead of a new window Review Source MS Martin S. There was also space for chat forums that seemed to be useful with some classmates and participants. But overall, I did not think these qualities would have been unique to other similar platforms. Cons The whole format was just overly complicated. Perhaps it was the administrators, but I could click through a dozen folders before finding the things I was looking for. Sometimes important announcements were posted and I wouldn't even see them. I used it for a year and I don't think I ever came close to mastering it, and I used both the mobile app and the computer website. Schoology simply isn't your best option out there. There is the possibility that the administrators just didn't set it up wisely, but that could be reflective of the software as well. I can see it beneficial for classroom teachers. Pros I first used this system as a free subscriber teaching a course. I could communicate asynchronously with students and they found it simple to use. As a parent, I use the app for my children's grades and LOVE it. Cons I didn't notice or utilize the upgraded version benefits when we switched to Enterprise and found it costly. February 26, 2018 5.0 Pros My favorite thing about this software is the layout. I like how you can organize your content into folders, upload files, create assignments, and import resources from old courses you have taught. Cons I would say I wish the site had a better layout for alerts for when assessments come up in class.
