November 29, 2018 4.0 The staff was very helpful and easy to reach when we were working out our payment process (working for a state institution created a unique situation regarding invoicing). I was very happy with how they helped me. Pros I manage the equine program for a state university and am responsible for over 60 horses and a revolving door of student employees. SS is a lifesaver for keeping track of everyone in the herd and making sure no one gets forgotten! The email reminders are a fantastic tool to help me keep track with my busy schedule, and the software works wonderfully for collaboration between myself and my employees. The interface is also very user friendly. I was able to learn the program very quickly when I took over the program. Cons It would be REALLY nice if you could create an event such as farrier or vaccination, and add from the list of horses. It's somewhat time consuming to have to adjust each horse individually if you need to adjust the recurring time period or anything. Also, it's not really a big con for me, but if there was anything else I could suggest I would say the user interface could perhaps be a little more visually appealing - modern applications and programs are just so advanced these days that this program appears somewhat basic and bland at first impression in comparison. Pros I love that I don’t have to manually count out when each horse is due next for shoeing, vaccinations, etc - it just calculates for me. Plus it’s easy to look up due dates. I can enter information while still in the barn, thanks to the app. It’s so handy to have every horse’s vet records at my fingertips when I need them. Cons There isn’t a lot that I don’t like. Occasionally the app crashes, and that can be annoying, but it hasn’t happened very often. Right now, there is just one "default" time period for all vaccines. For that, we just go with the most general one, and then edit the next due date for the exceptions. We agree though that it would be cool to make a default next due date interval for EACH vaccine type. We do plan to implement the ability to have multiple horse profile pics at some point, that the user could easily scroll through to ID a horse, but I don't see that happening for another 6 months or so. It's so easy to see what vaccines or records are coming due without having to dig through folders. It's so much easier than handwritten records and so easy to upload records you do receive that are handwritten, like from a vet, for easy reference later. Pros Stable Secretary has streamlined our record keeping process and made it so easy, as an adoption related organization, to get records to adopters quickly and easily with all their questions answered in one neat file.. Cons Just little things, would like to add a "free choice" amount to feeding options. December 10, 2024 5.0 Customer service is wonderful and so helpful! Love the company and the product. Pros I recommend this to every, especially people with more than one horse. It makes a world of difference trying to keep track of multiple horses care and training. I also liked being able to upload related documents (coggins, vaccination records). Cons The jump in price between 3 horses ($2.32 per horse), 6 horses ($4.99 per horse), 15 horses ($2.66 per horse) and 30 horses ($1.67 per horse). Pro is $6.95 for 3 horses and $29.95 for 6 horses. It would be cheaper to just get 2 x 3 horse memberships. Then is only $10 more and you go from 6 horses to 15 horses. It just does not really make sense. Pros I like the different levels of service and the number of horses you can enter. Once I got use to the program is much easier to navigate. Pros I love that there is an app that has all the same features as online. We can uodaye horse info and their special needs like allergies and feed chart, make records for farrier and dentist so we can all remember when they are due, because it auotmatically puts reminders in the schedule calendar! Pros Easy to use interface. Everything is easy to find. Cons That I couldn’t remove all my horses from 1 location to a different one without having to delete the location. The app they have in theory will be handy, but it is hard to navigate and look up individual records. Pros Stable Secretary can keep track of so many different aspects of managing a barn. It can track vaccinations, injections, feed, farrier work... The list goes on. Cons Until you get used to where all of the features are located, the layout of Stable Secretary can be confusing. StableSecretary is at the heart of everything! There is an ecosystem around show horses ranging from what is happening at home at the barn, to horse show prep and travel, vet and farrier schedules, and customer service. For me, StableSecretary is at the center of this ecosystem, helping to connect all the dots and helping me be as efficient as possible. Pros It helps me be more organized with everything behind the scenes at the barn - ranging from tracking vaccine dates and service records / expenses to invoicing. I also use all the contact information and horse info to complete entries for shows. Cons I have not discovered any real cons yet! Like every system, I look for new ways to use it faster over time. The staff is always easy to work with and the app gives me everything I need to help my horses (and myself!). Pros I love being able to keep track of all of my appointments and tasks, and creating reminders. With four horses, it's easy to get confused by who gets what, but I'm able to keep track of everything much easier with Stable Secretary! Cons Nothing, however I don't have a need for the tracking billable items, invoicing, payments, or team member features. February 6, 2025 5.0 We have been using SS over five years maybe longer and I am appreciative to all the growth and changes they continue to make. I have been through a ton of lesson software's and this one has always been my staple program for management. Pros The flexibility to cover all services in my barn and equine specific. Cons There isn't anything specific about SS I don't love. If anything, I would love more training on tips and tools I don't use and could be using. I do wish account balances and invoices posted to the clients login. January 30, 2025 5.0 Stable secretary has streamlined so many aspects of our documentation of our equine herd. We used to have everything on paper documents and there is no need for that anymore. We are able to have email prompts sent out to our assigned veterinarians for upcoming treatments and farrier appointments as well as so many individual details pertaining to each individual horse all in one place. I would highly recommend to anyone who want to have a seamless approach to organizing their herds. Pros Stable secretary has all of our Equine herd in one place and lets us request movement for the horses and keeps track of all of their veterinary needs, treatments and farrier appointments. Cons I haven't found anything that I dislike about stable secretary to date, and i have been using the program for a few months now. We’ve used Stable Secretary for several years. Pros Customer Support! Willingness to take enhancement requests seriously. Cons There have been some missing pieces for the Financial sections but these have been mostly resolved through software updates.
