Pros
I love that the developers release their projects on there to share with the world. It is really cost efficient for people who don’t have much money to spend but need good quality software.
Its great when I don't have access to the server my work will be used with because its low to no cost. It really helps me save money because I don't have to maintain servers just for testing.
Cons
The cons of this is that there is no certainty that each development works well or that it has a bug that may generate a problem or error.
Sometimes when there is a long pull request it can be quite tedious to look over and see recent changes. Also bad merge operations can cause a world of trouble that is difficult to reverse.
"GitHub is the new standard"
Overall: In the beginning it was confusing using Github. But after doing a search online in literally minutes I knew what to do. I love that the developers release their projects on there to share with the world. It is really cost efficient for people who don’t have much money to spend but need good quality software.
Pros: GitHub has a plethora of software created by very talented people. I like that I can get on the site and see the current releases for the program that I need, see the issues of said program and read the instructions all in one place.
Cons: There is not a single thing to not like about this. People using all kinds of OS’s can hop on github and find what they need and the info they need.
"Excellent platform to share developments"
Overall: I use the platform to obtain various macro developments to be used with Cisco equipment, but also, I make modifications based on specific use cases and then share it on the same platform. There are so many examples and developments that are really excellent.
Pros: The best thing about this platform is the ability to continuously share and improve developments with open source. Every development that is shared can be reused or improved and re-shared, all at no cost. In addition, it gives ideas of use cases and solutions that have been applied and can be very helpful.
Cons: The cons of this is that there is no certainty that each development works well or that it has a bug that may generate a problem or error.
