It is the center of our development workflow. Setup was quick, and new hires are productive right away because almost everyone already knows it. Actions costs and project tracking could be better, but overall it is reliable and we have no plans to switch. Pros Pull requests and code review are central to how our small team works, and GitHub handles them really well. Inline comments, suggested changes, and required reviews keep our code quality up without adding much process. GitHub Actions lets us run tests and deployments right next to the code, so we never needed a separate CI tool. Integrations with Slack and our other tools were quick to set up, and the pricing works well for a team our size. Cons Actions minutes and storage add up faster than expected once builds get heavier, and debugging a failing workflow can be slow. Issues and Projects are fine for basic tracking but feel limited compared to a dedicated project management tool. Occasional outages have blocked merges or deploys for a while. I use it for my own projects as well as forking and modifying open-source projects, tracking changes, testing ideas, and keeping working versions of code organized. Once you understand the workflow, it gives you a lot of freedom to experiment while still having a reliable history to fall back on. Pros GitHub makes it extremely easy to take an existing project, fork it, experiment with it, and keep everything organized without worrying about destroying the original code. I also like how well it works with development tools and AI-assisted workflows. Having repositories, branches, issues, releases, and version history all in one place makes managing both personal projects and collaborative development much easier. Cons Some parts of GitHub can be unnecessarily confusing when you're still learning the platform. I like that GitHub CI/CD pipelines makes it easy to auto-run tests, create and employ on every push. The history and visibility of everything along with the new AI features is great. Pros Brilliant to see the history of the repo and also to have the vulnerabilities feature. I'm able to commit changes as they are made, guaranteeing I always have a backup of my app's code! And all this without spending a dime! So cost is wonderful! It took a bit to get used to it, and I only know what I'm involved with. There is a whole world of features I haven't discovered yet! Pros I love how GitHub makes developing a breeze with integration almost everywhere you could use it, and the ability to build and ship an app to Apple is phenomenal. It really is a game changer! Cons I don't like how it can limit the file upload count. But GitHub desktop app solves that. Just requires more steps.
