Pros

\+ Free tier offers unlimited team members + Free tier offers unlimited secret repositories + Has lots of ready to use projects + Easy to monitor your projects improvement

Cons

### "Collaboration made easy"

October 7, 2020

5.0

Github has solved my problem of having only one master version to make edits to. Now, everyone on my team can suggest ways to solve the problem without permanently changing the original.

Pros

GitHub is an excellent way to automatically stay up-to-date on projects, as well as offer suggestions to them. I'm able to make my own version of the project without altering the original by forking it, as well. In this way, Github offers a great solution to developing projects for making multiple versions.

Cons

Setting up automatic "push" updates requires a bit of writing in the command line, so new users may need assistance.

### "Excellent for teams"

February 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

Love the ability to do pull request reviews. It allows our team to essentially do collaborative code reviews on the spot. The user interface is also easy to use, and I find myself going to it rather than opening an IDE to find a line of code.

Cons

It would be nice to manage authorization more granularity. For example allowing only access to certain folders within a repository.

overall experience of github was quite interresting one of the best CI/CD i would recommend it.

Github obviously is one of the most popular version control system, the fact that a team can work together on a same project especially on an agile environment. you can pull, push and manipulate the code easily

Cons

At the beginning it was not so easy to understand its mechanism and commands how to use it. also i had difficulties how to download single file/folder from a project.

### "Github - A great solution to manage software"

September 22, 2019

5.0

Github is a great way to ensure accountability and bug free code.

Pros

Github was the standard for many of our web developers - making it a no brainer to implement across the company. The pricing is very flexible and always works when you need it to

Cons

The user permissions is very confusing. I think adding the teams feature is a step in the right direction, but I wish I could have more control

### "Review of Github"

November 20, 2022

5.0

Overall, GitHub provides an ultimate solution for controlling and managing the code/project with version history through a nice and simple website.

Pros

For those who are in different location, GitHub allows remote collaboration. So, it is a great tool for remote collaboration. It also provides the version and code history online even if you don't have access to your local machine.

Cons

For the beginners, it is very hard and confusing as it has lots of commands. GitHub does have Dependabot However there is an element of risk.

GitHub is constantly being updated and always having new features to explore and utilize. The management of issues and pull requests make it easy for maintainers to do better reviews and merges.

Cons

GitHub can be a bit daunting at first especially considering how you have to start over when you make a mistake. Not too much documentation but lots of stackoverflow help.

### "Easy to use, provide good freemium features."

March 27, 2019

4.0

I am currently developing some bot projects plus a game plugin on GitHub. Also, I put my docker images there for my company's panel. GitHub allows me to version and view my projects even when I am not on my main computer. Which is very great since I have to take another laptop to work outside.

Pros

The settings of each repository are easy to read and modify. Also, it integrates with Git super well. Provides simple control and access overall.

Cons

There is no built-in cloud CI, which is a bit disappointing for me. But I can still use some alternatives for my continuous integration like CircleCI!

### "Best and Trusted Name for Source Code Mangement"

June 26, 2018

5.0

I hosted some of my opensource project on GitHub.

Pros

GitHub is a great place for hosting project repositories and contributing to open source projects. Ideal place for opensource project as it is widely used by developers and organisations for hosting there public and private repositories. Features like pull request code review and protected branches are one of the best features that help me to visually understand the code submitted by other and help me decide whether it is worth merging or not. Built in git-diff viewer is another one of the feature that help me visualise the code with different code based colour schemes. Almost 99.99% up-time is another plus point that ensure the repositories would be available for the contributors to pull and push anytime they want.

Cons

My main dislike for GitHub is its high cost private repositories. When it comes to Freelancers developers such type of expenses plays important role in their overall expenditure.

### "GitHub is an excellent choice for any early-stage venture"

December 2, 2021

5.0

GitHub is excellent and we’re pleased to be using it. Would recommend others do the same.

Pros

The UX/UI is clean, and our developers all came in with prior GitHub experience. It’s a straightforward service that works better than other options (we switched from BitBucket).

Cons

The pricing is competitive but slightly higher than Bitbucket at the low end of team size, which is an inconvenience.

Switched from

[Bitbucket](https://www.capterra.com/p/233341/Bitbucket/)

Our developers protested Bitbucket until we switched to GitHub. I believe it was a combination of prior experience and general usability.
