### "Essential Tool for Every Developer"

June 4, 2021

5.0

Github is absolutely essential for every developer like me. I have been using Github daily for more than 2 years and it is one of the most polished tools I have ever used. After we spend some time learning about it, Github can be very intuitive. It's small features like directly copying code from files just by dragging it to its interface, or that it renders CSV, STL explains how polished it is.

Pros

Github is the most famous git services available online - I personally don't know any developers who don't use Github. This in turn makes Github essential to any developers as many people share codes and stuff through Github. I don't know exactly why but developers nowadays seem to prefer to just put their work in Github. Thus GitHub hosts almost all kind of open source projects which I love to fork and play around with. I personally think it is very productive. It has a good and intuitive User Interface which makes viewing information and reading code easier. I also feel Github is stable than other alternatives available.

Cons

I don't think there is much to dislike about Github but I think it isn't very easy to use for a beginner. I spent a long time learning about Git commands and stuff. Other than this, I can't think of any cons.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing GitHub

I am not sure but I think Github is faster than Gitlab. Github is more popular among developers which made us use Github too.

### "The code versionning standard"

November 17, 2022

5.0

I have used GitHub personally and never had any problems. I also used it professionally and every time something came up, I knew with high confidence that my coworker or myself messed up and that it was not the software's fault. All of my code versioning with GitHub was used on teams with less than ten members.

Pros

The entire code versioning tool is so easy to use and does every branch operation with visual clarity. It implements git quite easily, especially with a RSA key.

Cons

There is no real issue with GitHub. It does exactly what it is supposed to be doing. I could say that I had a few difficulties learning the concept of versioning when first using it.

Reason for choosing GitHub

GitHub was simply a more elegant and free solution for my needs. BitBucket was a more appropriate ressource for a bigger business, as it included in Atlassian. However, it is marginaly more expensive. GitLab also has the same cost issues. As for Jenkins, I simply felt that it was slower to reach roi.

### "The ultimate source code manager."

September 24, 2022

5.0

I am using this tool from 7 years and I have never found any issues with it. I have used it from version controlling to setup my own CI/CDs for various products on multiple cloud service providers and I really like their UI.

Pros

First of all it got very simple, easy to understand and user friendly user interface tool that can be user by anyone within hours of it deployment. Most of the functions can be accessed with both command line and through dashboard too. Also CI/CD is one of the best feature that it provides and reduces manual efforts of code deployments. It provide supports for almost all languages and even it raises mail for some security vulnerabilities found by it. Best part you can have both public and private repos.

Cons

There is no any such issues I have found. Just few features are there for which you need to pay.

### "The Must Have for A Software Development Agency!"

March 24, 2022

5.0

I must say that there is no alternative to Github at this moment for source code management. As a founder of an IT company that develops web applications, I have to deal with a lot of public source codes. The same goes for my developer team. From the very beginning of my company, I appreciate open-source software. This is why most of my software source codes are publicly accessible via Github. It helps us to manage the source code and control the version of our software.

Pros

The thing I like most about Github is that it has increased my love for open-source projects. I and my team can easily contribute to open-source projects. Also, I can host everything related to my company's software project on this platform such as source code, documentation, etc. The markdown editor helps a lot with formatting the texts. Besides different members of my team can parallel work on a single project by using the branch feature. I can also host the individual website of my products by using the Github Pages feature. Overall, it's the go-to choice for any software publisher.

Cons

In terms the software development-related features, Github is nearly perfect. But if they can add some add-on features it would be great. Also, the user interface off Github can be improved so that the professional users can make the most out of it.

### "Best tool for code development and collaboration!"

November 26, 2022

5.0

Overall experience with GitHub has been great. It is open source and is one of the best version control tools in the market. This software helps multiple teams work on a single project and merge changes easily without any hassles. A lot of documentation is available for those who need to learn it.

Pros

GitHub is one of the best softwares available in the market for code development and collaboration. From students to office employees, this tool is super useful especially when collaborating in code development. GitHub saves previous versions of codes, so in case you want to roll back to your earlier version, you can do without any hassles. This is a very crucial software to learn and is expected from anyone who is looking to make their way into the domain of software development, full stack development, etc. This helps team communicate and collaborate seamlessly.

Cons

For anyone new to this tool might find the learning curve a bit steep, and it may take some time especially for students to get to know their war around it. Other than that, this tool does not have any major drawbacks.

### "Simplifying Source Code Management"

March 24, 2024

5.0

The experience is overly positive, as I am a developer I use it daily for work. I was also able to showcase my works and was able to get more projects. I could also collaborate with my team members more easily.

Pros

You can setup a repository for your code and collaborate with other developers throughout the world. With Github I can showcase my work so that I can attract recruiters. It is a social media for developers. I can also look for open-source code to learn and contribute to.

Cons

There is a learning curve to setup a repository and collaborate. People may also find it difficult to navigate through the app with so many features. Integrating with external tools to enable automation also takes a lot of effort.

### "Github - The best Version control tool"

June 2, 2022

5.0

We are using Github in our organization for a long time now. I think Github can be a bit daunting to new users. But once you start to use it and get a bit comfortable, it is much better in terms of functionality. Also there are a lot of options for integration with other tools. Which can really help.

Pros

The Most Important feature for us and why we use Github is it's Version control capability. It really helps to review all the code which is being Pushed to your Repository. And you can pin-point what code block is the root cause if your application breaks. I have used similar products, but I can see Github to be much more Stable than competition. I can also see that Github is much more mature as compared to competition as the number of Search results is far greater when you try to search something.

Cons

I wish that they would improve Github Actions a lot as I have used Gitlab CI and it is much better than Github. Also the Github UI could be improved a lot.

### "Github As Source Code Management"

February 18, 2024

5.0

Overall github is very easy to use. There are vast amount of tutorial on internet to get started with it & it's the most popular tool for source code management which makes it the number one choice to use.

Pros

Github is free to use anyone can easily use to for storing their code tracking it. It's easy to use. With authentication using token only you can push your code to the github repository which provides more security. Most of the open source projects are on the github which makes it first choice for any developer.

Cons

As it is free to use and there is not much regularity in github which can be misused. The continuous integration & continuous deployment feature needs to be improved.

### "Best Software for Students and Working Professionals Too"

January 12, 2022

I work with Github daily as I'm developer. I do live coding on github using Visual Studio Code. Github has wide range of extensions on Visual Studio Code like Live Share, Github Pull Request, Github Desktop. I think developer's journey is incomplete without Github.

Pros

Github is useful, easy to use, best User Interface Software for Developer. I have been using this software's Pro version since 2 years. I best think about this software is that you can collaborate and Work together and also we can track issues live.Github has introduces Github Copilot extension for developer for Free, GitHub Copilot is an AI tool that provides you code suggestions based on comments and the context of the file you're editing.Github's issue reporting is also very handy though your project can viewed for public but no one can edit your code without your permission thats the best think i can tell about it. I think this is the best Project Management tool on the internet.

Cons

Github offers wide range of services to it user but Many of them are not available on the mobile app.

### "GitHub - The standard for Git repos in the Cloud"

November 7, 2022

I started with GitHub's free option as a trial and it went so well, we just kept using it.

Pros

GitHub continues to improve with tools focused on helping developers. The base account that is free offers tons of features. When you are ready to test out the paid features, the value is there as well. I like that it is an optional upgrade since not every organization needs them.

Cons

When someone says 'GitHub can do it', it is getting harder to know if it is GitHub Free or one of the paid options. If you aren't following GitHub's releases, you can get left behind quite quickly.

### "GitHub Review"

October 15, 2021

It great once the user gets use to it it become easier and fun

Pros

GitHub is a powerful tool for any organization. It permits developers to successfully work together collectively by working in various branches and permits different computer programmers to chip away at similar code in discrete conditions. This takes into account a wide range of coordinated effort, incorporating telecommuters everywhere. The kind of teamwork and collaboration working together on the same thing from different part of the world is really an amazing feature with GitHub. I started using GitHub in 2017. It is an extraordinary storehouse that houses practically every one of the open-source applications/code that anybody can fork and play with. A colossal assortment of test codes accessible with issue articulations across various spaces, the fact that we can share our codes to any other person anywhere and can unveil repo and so forth make Github a one-stop area

Cons

GitHub can be a complex tool for beginners, it needs patience and dedication to learn and understand how it works.Another challenge I have encountered with GitHub is its limitations on the quantity of documents that can be transferred immediately, this is because individual files in a repository are strictly limited to 100M.

### "Easily manage your projects with GitHub"

March 26, 2024

5.0

I started using GitHub in 2020, a friend of mine recommended it to me. By that moment my coding knowledge was limited, but I managed to quickly learn how GitHub worked, I was able to create multiple projects and manage them very easily. GitHub is a really good option, I like its user friendly infrastructure and its amazing features.

Pros

Integration of AI if necessary, you are able to create your own websites and even add your own domain, you can have different versions of your project, you can integrate GitHub with Git, VS Code, IntelliJ IDEA and more.

Cons

The only think that I "don't like" is that you cannot publish private websites on GitHub, this is only possible on the paid version (GitHub pro). But if you don't have any issues publishing your project to the public, then this will not affect you.

March 30, 2024

5.0

My overall experience with GitHub has been overwhelmingly positive. It provides an exceptional platform for collaborative software development, offering powerful version control tools, seamless code sharing, and efficient project management capabilities. The vibrant community and extensive documentation further enrich the experience, making GitHub an indispensable tool for developers worldwide

Pros

What I liked most about GitHub is its seamless collaboration features. The platform facilitates effortless teamwork with version control, issue tracking, and pull requests. Its user-friendly interface simplifies code sharing and project management, fostering efficient development workflows. GitHub's robust community and extensive documentation further enhance its appeal.

Cons

GitHub was occasionally encountering performance issues, especially during peak usage times. Sometimes, accessing repositories or navigating the platform could be sluggish, impacting productivity. However, these instances were infrequent and didn't significantly detract from GitHub's overall functionality and usefulness.

Excellent experience and I really cannot imagine a modern software development world without GitHub at this point. This is a the gold standard right here.

Pros

I love the wide array of features and the usage simplicity. Everything works well and meets pretty much all of our needs as a team. GitHub is very dependable and does a great job at constantly improving and responding to feedback.

Cons

### "Great software, very useful to work in team"

January 26, 2023

It is very nice working with github. All our project are there and we can even have a look at other teams projects which can be interesting.

Pros

I love to collaborate with my team thanks to Github. It makes it very easy. It helps to resolve conflicts too.I love to have a place to store my code too if I need it with another computer. Also it makes me feel in peace that my computer don't delete it if there is a problem.

Cons

### "A robust and full fledget service for git users"

November 19, 2021

5.0

I really love GitHub and I have moved all my repos here. It is a robust, fast and reliable solution.

Pros

The biggest pro is that you can add unlimited number of repos both public and private, with no restrictions. Everything is always well organized and easy to find, and shortcuts help you get where you want in a few clicks.

Cons

There are a lot of features for CI/CD and team collaboration embedded in the software (and it is good) but the most difficult part is to find good documentation and examples on how to use these features. Other similar services are more straightforward on these things and help you create CI/CD integrations more easily.

I realize a project with this software, presently I'm a student in web programming and computer, however, this program asks me to make the application or some executable program, and GitHub helps me so much to build and finish my all codes to make it.

Pros

I think, the capacity of this software to offer most people to collaborate in the community, share and help each other, and give contribution developpe something together.

Cons

so for the beginners all things maybe became very so difficult to do, I think if support can think about the possibility to update the other version it can allow anyone who is her first application in this software to begin at zero and grow her skills. It has been 4 years since I start working on GitHub and It is my best platform so far. currently I'm using it daily for collaboration with different developers and version control for different projects.

Pros

What I like most about GitHub is it provides an excellent platform for collaboration among developers. It allows multiple developers to work on the same project simultaneously, making it easy to track changes, merge contributions, and resolve conflicts. This promotes teamwork and enhances productivity. Additionally it allows developers to track changes to their codebase, revert to previous versions if needed, and collaborate on code seamlessly. It helps maintain code integrity, facilitates bug tracking, and enables efficient release management.

### "It's an industry standard tool for reason"

August 4, 2020

5.0

Very simple to set up and use, and being an industry standard most onboarding developers and engineering teams already know how to use it.

Pros

Reliable and consistent version control and code collaboration platform. The team management, issue tracking, visibility/privacy control are all top of the line, and of course the underlying "git" hosting is perfect. Introduction of Github Actions only improves the value of the platform.

Cons

I'd like to see more for project management, e.g. ways to better organize issues by priority, themes ("epics") and create scrum, agile and/or kanban influenced views and planning tools. I've heard some folks express concern with Microsoft's acquisition of GitHub, but I don't understand the concern b/c Microsoft has a solid history of operating business-grade tools, and from the date of acquisition we've only seen more-for-your-money price changes.
