### "GitHub Review: Empowering DevOps Collaboration and Code Management"

July 12, 2023

5.0

Pros

In DevOps sector, I find GitHub an Ideal choice because it integrates with a lot of DevOps tools. Most services like deployment automation with the help of GitHub perform in flow.Apart from this I find that GitHub is a big platform for learning as it has a lot of resources with up-to-date industry trends.

Cons

Github is a huge platform which keeps evolving constantly, and I have seen it improving over time, So, I rarely find any issues with this platform.

### "Amazing collaboration environment for software version control"

June 15, 2023

5.0

Github reduces the cost of static project hosting and enables easy project collaboration.

Pros

We host some of our team projects whenever we feel like we want to test them before further implementation. GitHub provides free static project hosting (although it's limited), but it's great for collaboration, usability testing, version control, and debugging. I think they're really playing an important role that highly contributes to software development skills.

Cons

There isn't much great support other than those from forums and private discussions.

### "When it comes to anything related to programming, GitHub is my baby."

November 17, 2022

5.0

Pros

It is the best tool for open source projects. The fascinating thing is that it has a repository where you can easily navigate through various projects and furthermore, it allows for collaboration.

Cons

It is not for nerds. It requires depth knowledge of its functionality and programming skills.

### "The best SCM tool "

June 22, 2022

5.0

It's a great application which helps us to integrate with Jenkins and terminal. I would recommend people using it.

Pros

It is easy to merge the code and pull it when required. Any editing required can be done using terminal or directly in GUI which is good. There are 1000s of options to explore. But I work mainly on repositories.

Cons

It's hard to find any critical cons in git hub but one thing which much improve in structure which sometimes gets difficult to understand when we have many repositories and forked repositories.

### "Github Review"

January 15, 2023

5.0

Pros

Before I discovered Github, I was always struggling when creating my professional projects. I was manually saving several version of my projects after each modification. Also, it was not easy at all to collaborate with my colleagues at the university and especially when working on the same files. But Github has made my tasks much easier by helping me organizing my projects and easily navigate to an old version of my projects if needed.

Cons

At the beginning, it took me a little time to master Gihub, and to learn the git commands. But I have to admit that this platform is really solid, especially when considering the huge community behind it.

### "Tool that a developer cannot live without"

August 2, 2019

5.0

Github is a must for any project to maintain and collaborate on the code. I had experience with SVN tools but I would not go back to using it even if I get paid for it.

Pros

Extremely fast, easy to use, provides a lot of functionalities, ability to use not just command line but with lot of other source code management IDEs as well. Does not need me to be online to commit my changes. Very neatly maintained history and provision to maintain multiple versions.

Cons

Need to look for the commands for nontrivial things. I did not find their documentation that useful while I am able to use the commands only by referring to people's example code. Would be good so have at least a few private repos for the free accounts.

### "Review of GitHub by Project Manager"

May 8, 2021

5.0

My overall experience with GitHub is good and I like it as a good tool for Source Code Management. I use it to store code for all of my projects and for version control as well.

Pros

The best part about GitHub is that it allows us to seamlessly collobrate among our team of developers. Earlier there was a limitation on private repos on GitHub but after acquisition from Microsoft now we can create unlimited private repos and that too for free.

Cons

The thing that I like least about GitHub is that it seems less secure to me in comparison to other tools like BitBucket.

### "A nice Version Control System "

September 22, 2022

5.0

When it comes to Git and Version Control, GitHub is the best on earth, for now. My overall user experience is great!

Pros

I love the fact that I can easily push my source Codes to GitHub for my team members to have access.

Cons

The only aspect I had problem with, is the fact that I had to change my login details several times, for reasons not known to me.

### "Github: Simply amazing"

May 23, 2021

4.0

Github is simply amazing to use. I like the deployment through using the Github Action.

Pros

I like the "Github Actions" and its support for the deployment. The code review of the Pull Request (PR) is simply awesome. We can simply host the static file through Github which is so exciting for the new users.

Cons

The most of the feature of github is simply amazing. But the learning curve of github is little daunting for the new users. User Experience (UX) can be improved.

### "The best choice to store, find and contribute to a project"

February 14, 2021

5.0

I use Github to store and manage my project's version control and to host some of my project code so it can be used by the world.

Pros

Github offers so many amazing projects and can be used as a basis for your project. Comes with integration with Git-CLI so you can commit and push a code to Github from your terminal/console.

Cons

From the last review, I complain about the UI that seems old and there is no dark mode, but now they updated their UI and support dark mode, so there's nothing to complain about.

Switched from

[GitLab](https://www.capterra.com/p/159806/GitLab/)

Github has more big repo and supports dark mode.

### "This is a must if you are in software development"

June 22, 2018

5.0

Pros

\- First of all I'm in love with git (the technology that is based github). - Around the years they have add some interesting features like Bug Tracking, Code Search, etc. - Is very secure. This is really important since your code is your treasure. - Ability to manage teams and organizations - With one account you will have the ability to belong to more than one organization - The use of Markdown! - Have a great api and you can connect GitHub with other tools like Trello, Slack, etc.

Cons

Not too many things can be said here!. Someone can say as a joke that it was acquiredby Microsoft, but I think the main critic that you can trow to GitHub is the limit size of a file that you can add to your repository (100MB). With that said, I don't know how many times you will need to upload this kind of files (in my honest opinion).

### "Ultimate Source Control Solutions"

April 5, 2022

5.0

I find it hard to have control over the source code, till I came to know about github. Github got my back till I came across the platform, every version of my application is now on my private repository and if something goes wrong with my current code, I always can go back to the previous version. I love how easy it is with github.

Pros

Github is my go-to option for source control, I like how easy it is to maintain different versions of your applications. If something goes wrong, there's always a backup in GitHub to save me from disaster.

Cons

It comes free, there's the pro version which comes in handy to work with teams, I find no cons yet.

### "Hub for Developers and Programmers"

April 6, 2020

4.0

Overall I am one of the happiest users of Github and always tried to the most from it. Its cons can be neglected in front of its benefits. It's one of the best services to collaborate in a project both publicly and privately.

Pros

Github holds the ~99% of the open-source projects, which makes it a hub for all the developers and programmers. It has rich features which are always developer-friendly. It allows us to host unlimited static websites for free via Github Pages. It also comes with the free code review system, contribution-contributor graph, wiki and many more. Students' Developer Pack (PRO) is one of the best campaigns for students which offers various productive tools and services for free to students.

Cons

Github is more focussed on GUI and nothing on CLI which is the most unacceptable flaw from the developer's point of view. Github Desktop is not available for Linux based Operating Systems, is also one of the worst flaws. At the start, GUI was a bit tricky and does well-documented tutorial should be provided to newbies.

### "The most famous Open Source Community"

December 8, 2019

5.0

Github is the world #1 platform when you think about Open Source repositories. Their free plan for repositories space will definitely make it appealing for more years to come.

Pros

Github is a very well-known platform which provides a very good community, if you search a place where to contribute ( and get help too ) with your Open Source products. Recently they are also adding a lot of features like Github Action, Package Registry and so on, which makes this software more near to their former competitors.

Cons

Github is always keen in introducing braking through features like their competitors. What is missing at the current status is a full deployment pipeline, with a possibility to make use of your own platform through Docker containers ( like the compatitors are doing instead ). This should be something the Github team would need to think about in their next steps.

### "Early Stage Startup - GitHub is a no-brainer"

September 26, 2022

5.0

Generally, a solid experience, great API and automation capabilities, and security posture are excellent. Worth it many times over for our small and mighty startup engineering teams.

Pros

In our early stages and through growth GitHub has the features and capabilities to quickly enable our next levels of growth and collaboration within our SDLC.

Cons

GitHub Actions originally was the feature we liked the least. But, it's grown in capabilities, and with custom runners for the actions, it's all come together well.

### "Github is the Modern Code Hosting Platform"

December 21, 2018

5.0

One of my most recent projects involved collaborating with others to build a fully fledged library site. We exclusively used Github for this project; not only could we use the repositories Wiki feature as a convenient method for explaining the site and its unique code, but the pure functionality provided by Github, it terms of code diffs and merging branches, was simply invaluable. At this point I'm more surprised when I hear about a programmer who hasn't used Github before. It's an essential to use tool!

Pros

There may as well be no competitors to Github, they do everything exactly right. It was built by coders for coders. If you have a large scale project, code diffs are essential, and Github makes integrating branches a breeze. The extremely easy to use command line tool Git makes Linux users feel at home when forking a repo or pushing changes to their own code base.

Cons

No cons to Github; it's an incredibly smart, well designed system.

### "It makes you want to use it!"

December 14, 2018

5.0

Pros

Pros for me are: - Cool UI, and they keep making it better each day. One example is the previews when you hover on a link and it shows you more info without leaving the current page. - Very intuitive UX! you think about an action and expect it to behave in a way, and it really behaves the way you expect. This, in my opinion, is the most important thing. - Extremely feature rich! If you need to do something and google how to do it, you will 99% find a way to do it on GitHub.

Cons

\- I use GitHub via the companies I work so I don't pay for the private repository access. The only thing holding me from subscribing for personal account is the fact that competition for the personal use is very fierce. Bitbucket offers it for free. I would love it if personal use became totally free or less than or equal to 5 dollars a month.

### "Best tool to manage your repositories - collaboratively "

September 15, 2022

5.0

Pros

GitHub is an intuitive and comprehensive platform to manage your repositories without worrying about the technical part and using a beautiful interface. They also have an iOS app built with care and attention to the detail. If you are a student, you can get the benefits of a Pro subscription for free!

Cons

The only thing that I miss from this platform is better code navigation in the iOS app and the ability to edit multiple files both in the app and through the web interface - without requiring to clone the repository.

### "a very reliable and practical software for sharing or managing IT projects"

March 15, 2022

5.0

Although github is not intuitive once you have mastered the software, it remains a tool that I would describe as indispensable for managing a computer project or sharing scripts.

Pros

All these possibilities, whether for friendly or professional project management on a large scale. You can find a backup system that is totally accessible in one click. Another very practical advantage is its ability to share (for all users, whether private or public). Github allows a management of code, project and a sharing system very practical and pleasant to use.

Cons

The thing I like the least is that for a new user, github is complicated to handle. It takes some time to understand how the software works and all the possibilities it offers.
