### "Reliable and safe for your projects while aiding collaboration"

December 13, 2019

5.0

Because your PC may crash, get lost or memory devices can get corrupt, Github provides safe and reliable fallback for your codes. Also, it enables collaborations by team members wherever they may be. You can get access to your work wherever you may be. Highly recommended for software developers .

Pros

This software provides a remote storage for projects and facilitates collaborations. I like the fact that this software makes sure that the project files are without conflicts and in sync before merging. This helps to eliminate issues and bugs in codes. Also, only people granted access that can make changes to a repository so it's secure. It is also supported by IDEs

Cons

In the case of multiple users working on a project where PRs need to be merged, work may be slowed down due to the need for codes to be reviewed before merging but this is not really a disadvantage because it helps to ensure cleaner codes and can prevent worse issues

### "GitHub is perfect to build a SaaS with your \[sensitive content hidden\]as non-technical \[sensitive content hidden\]"

November 19, 2023

5.0

Overall, GitHub has been powering our software growth for many months now. It's a must-have in our tech stack and if you're serious about building a SaaS.

Pros

I'm not a technical founder but I use GitHub heavily to report bugs and create issues to my \[sensitive content hidden\] What I like the most is how easy you can create issue from desktop or mobile and from there assign it to team members. My \[sensitive content hidden\] also loves Github Co-Pilot.

Cons

The interface for project management is not the best out there, but that's not the main purpose of the software so that's fine.

### "The Gold Standard of Source Code Management"

September 27, 2021

5.0

Pros

When you hire any developer these days, you can pretty much assume that they're already familiar with GitHub. Over time, they have added more and more features to make it a complete-if-minimal project-management tool in addition to a source code repository. I like that it's now possible to replace all the essential parts of Jira with features that are built directly into GitHub, where the source code already is.

Cons

The permissions are confusing when granting a 3rd-party tool access to an account. Is it going to be able to see all of my repos in all of my organizations? How can I limit it to only the ones it needs to see? Will it be able to modify code on my behalf? What applications have I granted access to in the past and how can I revoke them?

### "Briefly look GitHub"

November 8, 2022

4.0

I made advantage of GitHub. It is my tried-and-true source control tool, and practically anyone who uses it is likely to share my opinion.

Pros

Github is really simple to set up and use. When you create a new repository, instructions are provided on how to quickly and easily add your computer's source code to the repository using a few short commands. Other capabilities include task management, issue management, static website hosting, and many more. It is also incredibly extensible and lets you plug in a variety of market-place components.

Cons

The dashboard accessibility interface requires considerable work so that users may perform common actions with just one button.

### "A great repo manager for any software project"

March 29, 2019

4.0

We have used github so much that it would be difficult to change to another way of working. We can keep any number of repositories, and it is really easy to use. Most configuration works with default values, which makes it a breeze. We also love that its free! we have lots of repos using different programming languages with no problem whatsoever.

Pros

We've used github as a repository for our projects for a while now and love it. We love that we can keep it all in the cloud accesible at any time, for us and for all the members of our projects. Separating the project into branches has made our process much faster and smoother, working with several testing, staging and production environments.

Cons

Our only problem with GIT is that the GIT protocol is a bit extensive, so it must be understood really well to avoid problems. This is sometimes a problem for new guys, however, with some documentation and tutorials they usually get used to it quickly.

### "GitHub Review"

August 6, 2018

5.0

I would highly recommend using Github enterprise as the version control system. The pricing and the ease of setup is amazing. The huge library of integrations available with Github is a huge plus point for using this product.

Pros

Github enterprise is our organization’s go to version control system. It is well liked by all the engineers and has an amazing set of plugins to integrate with our CI/CD pipeline. The support from Github is amazing and the tool is overall an amazing product.

Cons

There really isn’t any drawbacks for using Github. The documentation around the product is stellar and the integration makes it super easy to setup CI/CD throughout your business. The only pain point that I notice is that it is delivered as an AMI (If you are deploying it to AWS). The IT department does not have access to the inner workings of the solution itself. This makes it hard to instrument it for monitoring purposes etc.

### "Code Host for Developers"

November 4, 2021

5.0

Pros

I have been using Github for several years now. It is the best version control software available out there. It helps me to keep track of my code and work with other developers on a file. It also helps me to collaborate with clients on their projects. I like this one because I really like the way it enables me to track the version of my code. This is an essential tool for software developers. Highly Recommended

Cons

So far GitHub is going really great. Never faced any issue.

### "Github is really a very best version control management."

November 15, 2022

Cons

As we use daily Github, it can make the diff easier.

### "Github is the best version control service"

July 31, 2018

5.0

Pros

Github became a standard. And that's for a reason. Github is highly intuitive, high quality software. It has a very intuitive UI/UX. It's extremely reliable (their downtime numbers are incredibly low). Pull requests, issues tracking, 3rd party integrations (with CircleCI, Jenkins, and others) - are just a few great features it offers. I'd definitely recommend it to all of my friends (though everyone is already using it).

Cons

The only con I can think of is pricing. There are some projects I don't want to make public, but at the same time they are not commercial. I want to have them in a private repo, but I don't see a reason to pay for that. Though for commercial use - Github's biz model is good .

### "Best Issue Monitoring and Tracking Platform"

February 5, 2022

5.0

GitHub is one of the best Open-Source tool which helps us to be more efficient at our work. It allows us to contribute to some other projects and learn from different people. Also one of the most important thing it provides is that we can access or work on our projects on multiple devices.

Pros

The best thing of GitHub is that it allows us to contribute simultaneously, also that it allows us to debug, manage and edit our codes very easily.

Cons

Sometimes it don't let us merge with the conflicting commits made by someone on its GUI. It takes a lot of time for a novice to learn about git commands.

### "The Best Source Code Management Platform"

February 4, 2021

5.0

The overall experience is great. I have been using Github since 10+ years now and the experience is superb

Pros

Git setup and Source Code Management along with Versioning. The promise of Collaboration and speed of release of features has helped in adoption. Continuous Improvement and Continuous Deployment Pipeline with Jenkins and Github Integration is a game changer.

Cons

Ability to track with the JIRA Tickets. Not as closely integrated as Atlassian Bit Bucket and JIRA.

### "Git With The Hub You Need"

February 5, 2019

5.0

Overall, Github has been a powerful tool as a developer. I also had to interact with customer support only once and it was a solid and quick experience.

Pros

Git is free, but Github makes it much better and more secure out of the box. Great for simple team usage. The biggest pro is that it hosts the majority of all the open-source repositories on the internet. So beyond using it for teams/private repositories, you have one of the best code search engines in the world. They recently made it so you can have unlimited private repositories with a limit on contributors which is great too.

Cons

For some, being owned by Microsoft may be a con now. Personally I think hosting and open-source are aligned but business objectives could stray in the future.

### "My GitHub review"

May 13, 2022

5.0

Pros

Github, if not the best version control system I have seen. The use of branches makes project version control easy to implement.

Cons

### "The best code hosting platform out there."

September 14, 2023

5.0

Pros

This makes us easy to write our own part of the codebase and later merge it with a colleague without much hassle. Multiple branch also helps me write experimental code without the risk of ruining the working code. I can also contribute to open source softwares and use open source softwares in my code.

Cons

Nothing bad to say about it. It fulfills everything I need it to do.

### "Can't Live Without It"

March 1, 2020

5.0

I couldn't do my work without it. Being able to go back to previous versions and always being able to pick up from where I left off even if I've never used the device before is huge for me.

Pros

GitHub has become a part of my life. Lately I've spent most of my time on special projects building in house tools. I'm on the go a lot and use different desktops and laptops depending on where I'm at that day. I don't have to worry about what device I'm going to use because I can just pull the last project I was working on and keep going. It couldn't be easier.

Cons

Making full use of GitHub is difficult. There's a lot of features that I'm sure I might not even know about. There's a learning curve to really make use of the higher functions but it's worth it.

### "Github manages everything at one place"

February 3, 2022

Collaborate, share, and work together with GitHub. It's a social coder's heaven, with a social network for programmers. Build software better, together.

Pros

With GitHub, you can collaborate with your co-workers and clients on any project. With a fully integrated and customizable interface and a 30-day free trial, you're ready to start.

Cons

Deleting a folder is very tricky in Github. It should be easy as deleting a file.

### "A de facto standard of code sharing"

March 1, 2019

5.0

Github was useful to me countless times. I learned more by digging into code, adapted and fixed other people's code to my needs and could even contribute back to the community by sharing my own code. Moreover, Github doubles as a social network. Part of my online presence is there at a both personal and professional levels.

Pros

It's free tier is very generous with unlimited public and private repositories. The paid tiers are nonetheless very cheap. As virtually everybody uses it, it functions not only as a version control system and only repository, but also as a gigantic library with many resources to learn from and a mega toolbox for any situation. You can easily find anything you need.

Cons

The free tier limits the number of collaborators in private repositories to three.

### "Best plateform for Open sourcing your project"

July 23, 2019

5.0

My Experience is excellent with github. I use desktop application of github. It allows me and my team to work on project simultaneously.

Pros

Github is the best plateform for open sourcing your code. One can upload his/her project and create a link which can be used to specify in resume. One of the best feature of github is it allows branching, which is creating a branch of project to add modifications. If modification are successfull, it can be merged in the main branch. Else previous state of project can be retrived. You can also contribute to open source on ongoing projects which are availible on github. Another important feature is Desktop application which makes it highly efficient to use features of github.

Cons

There is not much to hate about github. You code is availible on internet, open to all. This feature allows anyone to access your code and use it as per thier choice.

### "GitHub is the ultimate place for collabs!"

July 29, 2021

5.0

There are many collaborative tools around these days to help cope with working from home, but Github sets itself apart by being specifically for coding projects. It has everything a collaborative application needs for productivity like file sharing and a clean layout to help you get the job done.

Pros

I like the fact that Github lets you choose between a personal and a business plan as it shows that they are used by a wide range of people. The overall UI is fresh and clean and easy to navigate, its intuitive and therefore fantastic for beginners or people have never used something such as Github before. Overall Github is incredibly reliable and dependable, which is why I have been using it for long and keep coming back despite there being a range of similar tools out there.

Cons

Overall I am satisfied with my experience using Github, but I think that they could elevate it further by even more project management features such as Kanban boards. Some people may think their business plan is too expensive, so it may be worth to open another tariff which is a happy medium between the personal plan and business plan for people/groups with a smaller budget.

### "Excellent code for developer"

July 12, 2022

5.0

In terms of my personal and commercial projects, this is a great development because I can work together with my colleagues, and start any project from scratch, whether it be in a public or private repository, assign tasks, monitor them, exchange ideas, and even solve code problems quickly. Moreover, completing projects on time and delivering successful projects is much easier when working together with colleagues.

Pros

The use of code versioning and code review can help users manage their time more effectively. The software development process can be coordinated by multiple developers and developed in collaboration. Developers can contribute to Open Source projects from anywhere in the world and can create, access, and improve Open Source software products.

Cons

Due to GitHub's use of git commands, the command line is necessary for some aspects of the service. There will probably be some uncomfortable command line interactions at some point, but most commands are well documented online.

### "Essential tool for modern software development practices"

September 24, 2019

5.0

GitHub allows us to coordinate development efforts of about a dozen developers and several dozen repositories. We use GitHub for system configuration management repos as well as software.

Pros

GitHub is essential for teams that develop software and use Git for version control. GitHub has a system of fine-grained access controls, including team-based controls, so you can easily tailor "minimum necessary" access to repos. Pull requests allow your team to review code before it's checked in.

Cons

I have not run into any serious problems with GitHub. I would like to see a better system for granting access to "system accounts" which access repos without human intervention. Currently, it is done with a "deploy key," which is a passwordless SSH key pair. I'd like to see better reporting around exactly when a deploy key is used.

Reason for choosing GitHub

There are probably some good alternatives out there, but we were already familiar with GitHub, and it's good enough that we didn't have to consider alternatives. In addition, most developers we hire are already very familiar with GitHub.

### "The Code Cloud"

May 2, 2019

5.0

Pros

Github was the very first online software that I used to save and share my code through my fellow peers at work and at school. It allows users to paste their codes online and submit them, allowing others with Github accounts to access them and use them to their liking. I used Github a lot because as an Electrical Engineerer we do make some codes that we may want to save or share.

Cons

Github took a bit of understanding how to use at first, making it very frustrating for new users. There are also some other softwares like Bitbucket that allows us to paste our working codes online. Github was also very hard to maneuver as we try to go through different directories to find what is wanted, in my opinion.
