### "Github for scientific research implementations."

January 23, 2023

5.0

Github is an amazing platform where researchers can deploy and source works in different program languages. I am enjoying using it as a student because it helped me improve my project management as well as see many works from Computer Science fields.

Pros

I love and admired the opportunity to perform project management in order of priority. Also, the opportunity to see code implementation of some research in different programming languages is awesome. Lastly, it is an open-source platform.

Cons

The deployment of projects from or to between GitHub and computers can be improved with easier bits. I think I have to check the code every time to be able to deploy the update to Git Hub.

### "The best VCS ever!"

July 15, 2018

5.0

Pros

Super fast! Easy to comment, create and review pull requests, manage team projects! It's ideal for open-source projects, as it's free for open source! Github has powerful third-party extensions that make it very powerful!

Cons

It's the best online VCS on the market! I don't know how it can be better! Maybe if the prices were lower, haha)

I use GitHub for personal projects and I have all I need to maintain my code safe and available.

Pros

Code versioning; Visual Studio Code integration; Private repositories; API; Big community.

I always use it, it is excellent, also there I can show the work I have done and thus show people who are always looking for professionals in the area

It is very easy to use, the interaction with thousands of users is also excellent, you can access other projects to expand your knowledge, its saving in real time is immediate.

Cons

For a beginner person, I think that handling the application is a bit complex.

### "Great for Small Business"

January 15, 2019

4.0

Pros

It's extremely easy to start using it with a small team and pay just a minuscule amount per person. Its well worth it no matter how many people you add.

Cons

Managing user access to many repos while adding or deleting a user could be a little easier. Its not that bad and it assumes some stuff that makes it easier but its still not great.

### "Exploring the Power of GitHub"

February 1, 2023

Pros

Version control: GitHub provides a centralized repository for storing code, making it easier to manage and track changes to your code over time.Collaboration: GitHub makes it easy for multiple users to work together on the same project, with features like pull requests, code review, and issue tracking.

Cons

Cost: For private repositories or advanced features, GitHub charges a fee, which can be a barrier for some individual users or small organizations

### "Best code version control out there"

June 23, 2019

5.0

I couldn't code without GitHub

Pros

Best code version control out there because it has everything I need to merge code, do pull request, submit a pull request, review code, backtrack, and it's already well integrated with VScode. I couldn't do what I did without GitHub.

Cons

Sometimes command line can be daunting if you don't know what you're doing.

### "An excellent tool for developers"

November 14, 2017

5.0

Pros

I simply can't imagine working without github since most of tools, plugins and apps we use are somehow connected to github. It helps us get in touch with developers in case we have issues with some application.

Cons

Maybe it could have a better user interface, but I really have nothing to complain about, since it's a tool I use everyday.

### "Best Choice for Soruce Control"

January 1, 2022

5.0

It's a great experience and all my needs are fulfilled there.

Pros

The free plan really can cover production level projects. and there is nearly nothing needed that's not available already.

Cons

I see nothing I like least about Github everything is great, every features I need is already there.

Github has a better UI and is easy to use also when Bitbucket was having private Repos in the free plan Github added it.

### "The must have code repository"

March 31, 2019

5.0

I think it is a must have code repository. I don't know anyone who uses GitHub that does not like it.

Pros

Github integration it's very easy and it can be integrated with a lot of services. Having access through the terminal is perfect to access it quickly. You can host the code for open source community and for business. Code review and Release management are two great features to help avoid conflicts in the code.

Cons

Not so easy to start using it from scratch, although once you understand it, it is quite simple

### "The de facto standard for source code revision control"

January 16, 2023

5.0

Pros

Github is pretty much the industry standard. You can use the web interface, the desktop app or a command line interface. It's versatile, does everything you need in an online revision control system and it's cloud-based so you can access it anywhere.

Cons

If your team gets large, the pricing for the advanced features gets steep quickly.

since learning how to use GitHub i have been able to go back to code from where i put the last working state and add new states without messing up anything

Pros

GitHub is a free software that lets you backup your program

Cons

It takes a little time to learn how to use this software but once you learn how to use it, this software will make your life as a programer much easier

### "Github is essential use as a software for developers and QA engineers alike"

November 8, 2022

5.0

Though I'm in QA engineering now, I'm also trained as a software developer, and I know GitHub well. Anytime I worked on projects by myself, with other colleagues, or on full blown teams, it was always through GitHub. I'd say the number one feature I like about it is its source and version control.

Pros

Pretty much anyone you meet in the IT world is familiar with GitHub. It's easy to use, even for beginners, and it's so powerfully simple to use.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve using GitHub if you're not a developer yourself, but once you get past those first hurdles, then it's well worth it.

### "Github is exactly where you should keep opensource code to be well managed"

December 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

Github has almost all the features needed to track code changes and document the code as you develop systems. With open source programs, it is free and lets you publically share your work with others, and gain contributions. With managed pull requests, you can put in place code management policies and reviews before accepting code. It also supports almost all git features - not just the simple commit and plush, but less simple things like rebasing, code signing, and squashing commits.

Cons

If you don't want a public repo, it is no longer free. You don't have control of the source code - it isn't a dedicated server you own, so it has all the risks of cloud based companies.

### "Github is the best source control tool but is too expensive"

Cons

It's expensive compared to other products like Gitlab.

### "Great open platform for version control and code sharing"

December 12, 2019

5.0

I have used this platform for both professional and college projects. It's a great collaboration tool.

Pros

It is a very light console-friendly platform to keep track of entire projects -code and documentation- with version controling

Cons

It's hard to use at first, however this has been addressed by the desktop interface for rookies... So I wouldn't call it a con.

### "Best software repo for promoting free and open source software"

March 7, 2019

5.0

All our repo are now maintained in GitHub and now we are really happy since all our projects can be maintained easily in a single platform.

Pros

GitHub is the all on one marketplace and repo for searching and publishing software which is open and free. The main advantage is that almost all the free software's can be forked from Github and can be published more easily. The most important feature we love is the making of repo private for free.

Cons

Only one issue is that their support is a bit slow and needs to be taken care.

### "Easy of use for Devops"

November 5, 2021

5.0

Overall a feature rich and cost effective version control and CI CD tool for an organization

Pros

The Github is easy to integrate across various channels and we can use it for code versioning and also as CI CD. We have also integrated with terraform and it works great. The fact that it can track changes and have governance on top of it is simply great.

Cons

There has to be focus on having a good UI for this. That is what is lacking here.

### "A great platform for collaborative work"

December 11, 2018

5.0

It was good using this software as you can access the data at any time and anywhere.

Pros

This software has made my life so easier. I have worked with a team without github and it was very difficult to manage the code base of the project. The next time we used it and it solved most of the problem of managing the code with the team. Till now I have used the free version of it which is great for most of the users.

Cons

I have got such a good experience of github and till now i did not get any difficulty with it.

### "One of the largest development communities"

June 18, 2021

4.0

It is one of the most interesting platforms for group and private projects. It's friendly to set up, making it easy to get started with. Several people can work on the same code at the same time. A big plus the ability to set up your private server.

Pros

The big advantage over the competition is that Github contains thousands of open source projects. The software if selt is reliable. It has a history of codes that can be easily compared with each other. Tracks research and changes.

Cons

The big difficulty is resolving merge conflicts. Oftentimes, it takes a long time to resolve such conflict. Surely the search option could be improved. LEarning a large number of commands will be a challenge for new users.

### "Ten todos los proyectos a mano"

January 18, 2023

4.0

Magnífica, lo recomiendo a todo el mundo

Pros

### "Github is a great git hosting service."

January 10, 2018

5.0

Pros

Github is easy to use, and the pricing is great, allowing us to have free repositories if we don't mind the code being public.

Cons

I don't like that the code is proprietary (which is ironic for the icon of OSS), and many users are put off by that and don't use it, and that means that many great minds will not participate on some OSS.

### "GitHub is extra handy for programming projects"

December 18, 2020

5.0

Very satisfied, I am not sure how we would develop something new with good quality in small period of time, without the GitHub at the moment. Definitely recommending this to anyone there who needs version control, managed accessibility and flexibility in their work as programmers.

Pros

GitHub is super handy, useful, practical and overall provides nice and easy way for more people to work on the same project on the same time, while polishing different aspects of the original project. This is very good, as with the use of GitHub, we can speed up whole process of going live with new project or launch new version of something we made earlier. I have used GitHub for the first time, while doing a tutorial for one of the online schools, where I had to make and optimize one minor project from the scratch in my Ubuntu based Lab, without any prior basic knowledge of the Lab Environment, GitHub and commands in Ubuntu. I was able to catch all of this in less than a two hour period, which just shows how GitHub is good from the Start for all of his users, no matter what is their Story.

Cons

Not any in general which I could think of at the moment, as even in the field of Security, GitHub is really good so far.

### "The de facto way of open sourcing projects"

May 31, 2018

5.0

Pros

It's very easy to use and setup, even for people who aren't used to using git or are just starting, even though it offers more advanced options, it is easy to ignore them until needed. Another thing that I cannot fail to mention is the "student pack" offered by them, including free licenses for several services, including Github itself.

Cons

The free account doesn't offer private repositories, while some competitors do. I don't think it has a good way of visualizing the commit history
