I have been using Kareo for over 11 years now. I like that they do updates whenever necessary. As my title says it is the best management system.

Pros

I like the ease of use. The system is easy to learn. Kareo is a nice system.

The only thing is the system does not let you search pt by dx codes. Other than that the system is great.

THERE IS NOTHING POSITIVE BE CAREFUL ONCE YOU SIGN A CONTRACT YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOW TO LEAVE THE CONTRACT AFTER YOU SIGN IT . THERE IS NO TRIAL PERIOD ONCE YOU SIGN THEY ARE ONLY INTERESTED CHARGING AND KEEPING YOU IN THE CONTRACT . THERE SCHEDULING SYSTEM IS POOR AFTER 2 HOURS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR PATIENTS . I WAS COMMIT TO A CONTRACT WITHOUT TRYING THE SYSTEM . BE CAREFUL !!!!

To clarify, Telehealth appointments are accessible by providers and patients a half hour before the scheduled time and are also accessible up to two hours after the appointment time. If a new time is needed, all that is required is a new appointment creation. EHR works well, easy to navigate but there is no one that will help when there are website glitches.

Cons

Customer Service is terrible. There is no one to talk to when website malfunctions. I have been waiting over 1 week for them to fix my website. My online booking stopped working, my picture dropped off and my title was incorrect out of nowhere. When I call daily they have no one that can help and tell me to wait for an email.

Customer service I was overcharged $1700 and they have not refunded me the entire since October 2023. I call them 2-3 times weekly. They still owe me $600

### "PM not what I expected"

I like the ability to check eligibility for major insurance carriers. Scanning documents has been a big improvement for my office.

Cons

It's not user-friendly at all, and it's very time-consuming. Anyone taking appointments should be able to do it in a matter of minutes. Don't purchase the PM system if the appointment schedule is essential to your practice. First, you can purchase the feature for reminder calls at an additional cost. I don't know what they were thinking when they chose the vendor. The call comes through without the name of the physician (I was told physicians with odd names were not happy as they were mispronounced so they just state, "You have an appointment with your physician"). When I called about this, a customer representative told me patients should know who their appointment is with. Second, there is not a feature allowing the patient to either confirm or cancel the appointment. It is nothing more than a reminder call. To make matters worse, there is no indication on the schedule that the patient was even called. When I called Kareo to find out why, I was told it had to do with their vendor, and I could not have access to any reports regarding calls. I could, however, call Kareo daily, and they would tell me who wasn't called. If you want to see which of your patients have checked in, you have to go to the appointment, right-click it, and see if they checked in. There should be a way of looking at the schedule and seeing who checked in and out, who was a no-show, and who cancelled. I manage a practice, and I want to look at my schedule and know who was here and who wasn't. I shouldn't have to run a report. I need to see as much information on the schedule as possible clearly. In case anyone is looking into this system with the hope that these issues will be resolved, forget it. I was told these are not priorities. While customer care has been attentive, I get that famous saying "I'm sorry for your inconvenience."

### "Talk to your billers first"

Pros

The clinical interface is good. Intuitive to navigate, looks good, nice use of shortcuts and templates for notes, and nice scheduler.

Cons

Billing is absolutely brutal. I strongly recommend talking to your billers first. This product is pretty universally know as being terribly in the billing community. You will run into problems and it will interfere with your revenue cycle. We unfortunately found this out after having problems getting set up with less than adequate customer support followed by problems with their clearinghouse (and you have no option but to use their clearinghouse). We had tons of rejections and denials for months. Our billers were on the verge of leaving because it was so much of a hassle. We finally switched systems and everything cleared up. This is a truly terrible billing software with poor customer service. I strongly advise talking with your billers before going down this road.

Overall, I am very pleased with Kareo.

Pros

Kareo Billing is very easy to use and navigate through the system.

Cons

There are times I need to look at two different screens at one time and it would be nice to have some type of split screen to compare looking at two things at once. When in putting the insurance for a patient it would be nice to go back to the conditions screen instead of having to go back into that patients demo screen to input that information.

Terrible. I am looking to switch EMRs. Don't waste your money here.

Pros

I initially bought the Kareo EMR because of of the billing/clearing house was attached to the EMR so it was all in one place instead of having my clinical notes in one location and then outsourcing my billing. I also "thought" Kareo had good customization settings which I learned later was falsely advertised.

Cons

1) Poor medical chart customization. I have a lot of unnecessary information in the medical chart that has nothing to do with speech therapy. 2) My Kareo Email doesn't work. Patients cannot receive my email through their patient portal. 3) I cannot send my evaluations/treatment notes to patients on the patient portal 4) I had to learn computer coding to customize templates. Not easy to use. 5) The secure messaging doesn't alert me when I receive a fax so I have to check fax box daily to see if I have received any faxes. 6) My "coach" mentor set me up with the wrong insurances for billing so I had to fix it myself. 7) The IT support gives false feedback saying they'll fix an error and 4 months have past and my Kareo email still is not up and running. 8) I have submitted complaints to Kareo and no one acknowledges them or contacts me. One time a supervisor contacted me but nothing had been established or fixed afterward. 9) I have to do every around about way to get anything accomplished on Kareo

My overall experience with Patient Pop is frustrating. I think they COULD do a good job but there are too many people giving me different info. There is LOTS of room for improvement.

Pros

I enjoy the ability to easy post blogs and request reviews from patients to build our online presence.

Cons

I do not like that I am not in any way notified when emails sent for review requests bounce. Knowing that emails are not getting delivered would allow me to update emails as needed with patients. When patients respond that they did not enjoy their visit, I am not given that info either and thus am not allowed to address their concerns. When we started with patient pop I had ONE person with whom I interfaced; now I have a "team" so I never get the same person and have had to repeatedly follow up with things that just get forgotten about. I am told I will receive follow up on requests and I do not get them/ have to follow up myself or remind the rep that I had made a request.

We selected Kareo to use right out of the gate for a veteran Doctor opening a start-up clinic with zero initial staff. Kareo training support during our initial phase was excellent, consistent, and readily available by phone and by online chat (a feature that we LOVE). After the initial training phase, they have remained readily accessible, although due to the stability and ease of the product, we rarely need assistance even at the 9 months marker. As a consultant in billing and insurance for over 20 years, I have put it through the paces really hard, expecting optimal performance, and placing many demands on performance and accuracy that some might not. Kareo has performed well while enabling me to easily train four new staff (who had no previous experience in the field) how to run the front office functions and even the initial entry of encounters for billing. We like the security available to various levels of user profiles! Very helpful to include or exclude certain functions by employee. Another area we really use is the TASK function. With several employees, billing located in a different location, and all working different shifts, the task function is a huge plus for this software. Kareo makes it easy to set up or switch and to comply with today's insurance, billing, and EHR regulations. An added bonus is that if we, or you, ever decide to outsource the billing portion, say, for instance, if you lost staff or just wanted to move billing out of the clinic, Kareo is positioned to immediately pickup and continue those functions seamlessly because of the cloud-based system. We particularly like the security of that backup plan. We couldn't be more pleased on performance and ease of use. The highly competitive rate, month to month no contract, and no large upfront costs or maintenance fees are all excellent features as well! With two generations of healthcare providers and a combined over 50 years in the field, and having previously owned a physician billing software company for more than 20 years, we are pleased to give Kareo a high recommendation.

We had some issues in the past but I do like their customer support. I don’t think I’ve had an issue in close to a year

Pros

Super easy integration. Super simple UI for our staff who are tech challenged. It’s cloud based and there’s tons of custom reports I can create.

Cons

I do wish we could turn on 2nd factor authentication using Google authenticator or by text message.

### "Review of Kareo Clinical EHR"

Overall the experience is good and would recommend the product to new and incoming clients.

Pros

I have used Kareo EHR for a little over a year now and have found the software to be easily navigated. I like that it is interfaced with the Practice Management program to do the billing, accounting and reports which make the job more organized. It also allows me to be interfaced with the laboratory that I use to have the lab results within the patients chart. The chart format lets me see what part I would like to review such as history, accounting, demographics, etc. Easy to apply payments. The ERA's are easy to navigate and apply payments.

Cons

The practice software has a few glitches that we have to call for assistance in getting corrected. Getting set up with new insurance takes some time. There is duplicate billing on occasion.

Reason for choosing Tebra

I chose Kareo for the price of a small practice starting out. The format of the EHR and that it had the Practice Management services as well. The EHR was simple to navigate, and allowed for formatting of your note.

### "User friendly on any level"

I was very nervous initially and my success coach added to that anxiety, I did not feel like I knew what I was doing when I first got started however the amazing customer service reps taught me so much about navigating and problem solving that my anxiety quickly disappeared. Kareo is very well laid out with a lot of feature to educate you and keep you on track. I could not be happier with this product.

Pros

Kareo is fairly easy to navigate even for a low tech person. The customer support team is absolutely amazing, they are always patient and extra helpful.

Cons

I feel I was mislead by the "success coach". He was is such a rush to meet his deadlines that he ran through the information at lightening speed and was very annoyed at my questions. Thankfully the customer service team does not share his lack of personality and has helped me get on the right track. The software itself is very easy to navigate, the initial issues I had were resolved by the customer service staff. In the beginning I called frequently and every time I was treated with much patience . Now that I understand better it is so easy to find my way around Kareo, customer service taught me many tips to problem solve and most of the time I am able to resolve my own issues with out calling.

Reason for choosing Tebra

Kareo seemed to be a better bargain.

### "Useful Program"

Like I said prior, the program is easy to navigate, input, and search for information. Overall, this is a great program to use I would recommend this program to another facility.

Pros

There are many reasons that this program is useful. A few is: 1) The ease of access to information looking for 2) The ease of program navigation 3) Customer Care quality (when and if there's an issue) 4) Fast response and how the issue is handled 5) The ease of inputting of information

Cons

The only thing that I find to be an issue is the "Rejection" responses to the Clearinghouse reports. For example, I have had a few claims that were rejected with "Remaining Patient Liability is required when Line Adjudication Information is not sent." I have gone over the COB from when I posted the payment and all the required information, payments applied, and patient coinsurance is all inputted correctly, but I still got a rejection notice. To me, that is a little confusing.

It was a great system for a small clinic as I have experience with Epic as well. This software made my job easier as a scribe as we no longer need to use paper and pen.

Pros

I think , billers must have created this tool. The integration with the clearing house is fabulous. We can track claims and work rejections/denials immediately.

Cons

Its disappointing to admit that the support and troubleshooting was not that great. I have had many times where I have had to get with Kareo support for some system glitches and errors. It slowed down my work as a scribe.

Unfortunately benefits don't always outweigh risks. Working with another small practice and when asked if I would recommend Kareo I had to say no in its current state. I hope the bugs are fixed soon, so that can be a yes.

Pros

Easy to navigate, easy to teach when onboarding new associates to our practice

Cons

The site locks up, crashes or simply won't open multiple times a week which puts our productivity behind. Costing overtime hours

### "Worst EHR"

I am currently using this EHR because my billing company recommended it since they use the Kareo practice management. It has been a nightmare for me having used a much better EHR - Athena. The onboarding process was a disaster and after 3 months, the lab integration has not been completed with labcorp and there is no follow-ups. I have to initiate every contact with my coach who should be reaching out to me to make sure that my transition to kareo is seamless. There is no integration with Imaging centers so you have to order the tests and then manually fax to the imaging center unlike Athena. When it comes to labs, you cannot find some of them like a common FIT test to screen for colon cancer. How about e-prescribing? Forget about prescribing common diabetes supplies like test strips, lancet or OTC medications, they are not there. With Athena, once you start typing the name of the supply you need, it pulls everything up and you can transmit those to the pharmacy electronically. For those you now want to fax to the pharmacy manually, the pharmacy name, phone or fax # does not even show on the prescription so you have to go back to the patient's chart and go to somewhere in the demographics to find the fax # and then write it down or memorize before faxing. When you place a referral, you cannot attach documents such as labs, radiology reports to the referral before efaxing. What is the point efaxing just a referral and then printing out other relevant records that should accompany the referral to manually fax....so dumb. How about releasing a patient result to their portal, you are not able to comment on the results that you are releasing to the patient. You have to send a different message to the patient after you have already released the results. Now, I keeping getting an error sending a message to patients through the portal using Google chrome browser and Firefox with different computers and they don't have any clue what is going on. I can't get any help with the technical support or my coach. They created a case and that's it. I guess I need to be calling them and taking time from caring for the patients to be doing that before I can resolve any issues.
