I didn't use this software as a customer. But this software lets clients help attorneys fill out the form with a Turbotax style interview. The attorney can review and help the client fill out information as needed. This saves a great deal of attorney time, which means an attorney can serve clients who might be unable to otherwise afford their services.

Pros

The software is solid. It works well, and covers an amazing breadth of legal actions. Huge library! Also, I can attest that the staff works hard to accommodate and serve its customers. Every civil firm that does anything with family, estate, or business law should use this platform. Definitely worth the modest cost.

Cons

Nothing. It's a solid product. I guess there is a learning curve if you want to make and customize your own forms (which they absolutely let you do), but it's not too steep and anyone could do it if they wanted to.

I have been using DirectLaw for about 10 years. They designed and manage my website, and process all credit card payments for me. I do not use the document portal, but if that is appropriate for your practice, it is an excellent product. The goal of DirectLaw is to increase efficiency and profitability while expanding Access to Justice by lowering price points for consumers. It really works. I have known the founder for about 20 years. He is a leader and a visionary in expanding Access to Justice by creating financially sustainable business models for lawyers, and creating price points which are affordable to consumers. If you read any of the books or articles on the future of lawyers and law practice management, you will see that the DirectLaw model is at the forefront of innovation.

My firm has been using DirectLaw for more than 6 years. I've met the principal, in person several times. He and his team are responsive and pleasant to work with. DirectLaw has increased the efficiency of our practice and helped us to keep costs low. DirectLaw has been an excellent return on our investment, and we recommend its use.
