Pros I like the account mapping feature especially, and love the fact that it can be rolled from one audit to the next (YOY). August 24, 2019 5.0 I have never really had training in completing and performing tax computations and tax returns other than in my studies. I have always had to learn through trial and error. Before using tax module, i may have known how to do corporate income tax but I never really understood certain rules and where things go without double checking. This all changed when I started using the tax module as it provides an adaptable platform which shows exactly where and how things make their way into the tax calculation. At first, it's quitetime consuming but once you get the hang of it, you'll never go back to your old system. Instead of sitting for hours in training or worst case scenario, following previous years as guidelines to figure out where everything goes in the tax return, you are able to identify what goes where and why. It has also assisted with turning 3 processes into 1. Everything can be done through the tax module and be exported to eFiling and your operating system. Pros The fact that working papers and audit procedures were custom made to the audit firm requirements as well as all the functionalities such as caseview work plans prompting specific testing to be done before sign off. " January 31, 2021 5.0 I worked in 2 big 4 companies and 1 small public practice firm and think that it was a really great and smart tool that makes financial statement prep, NTRs, reviews and audits more organized. Pros That it’s a great way to organize file and its adaptable. I love how leadsheets can be linked to the working papers easily and that there are ways to map the trial balance and financial statements to make your life easier. Cons That you can’t open two engagements at the same time to compare files. That the grunt work at the beginning for creating linked FS or mapping accounts requires a bit of know how. Pros La capacidad para procesar archivos, permite trabajar con archivos de mas de 15 millones de registros, procesamiento rápido, las carpetas creadas para almacenar la información, facilidad para crear la consultas. Herramienta para personas no expertas en sistemas de información. La generación de estadísticas de cada archivo. Cons La forma en que crecen exponencialmente los archivos a medida que se hacen consultas y a veces el tamaño de los archivos después de múltiples consultas no permite leerlo. It is better software for audit and accounting firms to compile the financial information and prepare the financial statement as required by CPA Canada. We don't have to worry about anything if we are able to input the correct trial balance. Pros The cloud version is elementary and straightforward. I used the desktop version earlier, but it was very easy to navigate the software and data after we switched to the cloud version. I also worked to get financial statements from the provided trial balance and other information. Cons There is no such thing that disappoints me about caseware cloud. Review Source Maureen P. Independent Reviewer Accounting Used the software for: 2+ years ### "CaseWare Working Papers is the best software for drafting annual financial statements " May 26, 2023 5.0 CaseWare Working Papers is an excellent piece of audit software, and it is ideal for drafting annual financial statements for clients. As long as Working Papers are kept up to date with the latest patches and software updates available, the annual financial statements will be in compliance will all relevant accounting standards and legislation. For example, recently in South Africa, the company tax rate was updated from 28% to 27% (in the past year, February). Since updating to the latest version of CaseWare Working Papers, all templates have been updated to incorporate this change in tax legislation. I don't have to stress about compliance issues, as Working Papers stays up to date with all the latest changes. Pros Throughout my 3 years of audit articles, I used CaseWare Working Papers to perform audits (documentation of all audit work performed was done in Working Papers) and draft annual financial statements. In my current role, Working Papers are mostly used for just drafting of the annual financial statements for clients. I enjoy using CaseWare Working Papers to draft financial statements, because all relevant standards are available, and templates can be easily loaded into the program when needed. In addition, annual financial statements can be entirely customized according to client preference, while taking into consideration compliance with the relevant standards. Cons There are no issues that are noteworthy. It is just a pity that CaseWare Working Papers cannot be 100% integrated into my own audit firm's in-house developed audit software. Other than that, CaseWare Working Papers is a very good audit software. Review Source Ivan V. If I were to choose between IDEA and other auditing and data analytics software I would prefer IDEA because it offers a comprehensive set of features for data audits. Pros First off, the documentation of the software is comprehensive and clear. Secondly the software allows auditors to work on the host locally as well as using a server, allowing entire teams to share data together. Finally the software supports an extensive list of data formats, from XML to different kind of database formats and as a bonus it has scripting options. Cons When working with a remote server, the software tends to lock up during data load. This ensures the integrity of the data, but it's makes the user feel as if the software is unresponsive. Besides the need for training to use the software and the training available being horrible, it is a useful product. Pros It provides the ablility to compare two large data sets relatively easily. Cons I have been using and testing software for about 25 years and this is least intuitive software I have every seen. It is buggy to change connections or setup connections especially with ORACLE databases. We paid for users to be trained and the training was terrible. It was a waste of money to pay for employees to travel and sit in a training for a week and the teacher was horrible. It was a huge disappointment and no one at the company seemed to care. This instructor had a reputation of being terrible according to others in the class with our employees. Review Source Tariro G.
