Instructor Higher Education Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easy and reasonably priced" December 18, 2018 5.0 Using Quickbooks with the time clock information makes payroll take a couple of minutes, allowing me to get done quickly and correctly. Employees like the ease of use, so they actually clock in and out! The cost of the program has risen, but still well worth the time savings. Pros As an employer I wanted an easy to use time clock. This is and has been such an easy set up and managed program I could not recommend it more highly. The ability to assign managers for other employees has made my payroll day so much easier, which is a big time saver, making payroll a breeze. Cons Printing options. There is not a smooth way to print audit logs. Having that additional report would be a great help for documentation of changes made after the fact. March 12, 2026 4.0 Overall, I've had a very good experience with the platform. It's easy for anyone to understand and very intuitive for managing time effectively at work. Perhaps the UI design could be improved a bit, as it feels somewhat outdated. The page loading speed could also be fixed, but other than that, I have no problems and I think it's a very good platform. Pros What I like most about On the Clock is the simplicity of the platform, although time logging is often quite slow; many times it gets stuck loading without progressing until I reload the page. Many employees have complained about the product, but we have to work with what we have. Pros I personally do not care for this product. The only pro is to track hours and request time off. There are no other options available. Cons I had used Gusto previously and like how the app was user friendly, along with tallying hours (annually), the pto requests were easier to access and submit, and the messages in the message center do not get sent to my administrator as mentioned on website. They communicated well and within 2 days we were active. Pros Converting from QuickBooks Online was a breeze. Running first payroll was flawless Contractor setup was a bit confusing, but it is great now My G/L posting is down to 4 entries instead of 12-15 Cons Reporting is pretty limited. It works for me since I only post the weekly PR entries on Quickbooks Desktop. I have not been through a Workers Comp audit with it, but that will be in the fall. My employees don't always tell me about a missed punch, so I have to watch those numbers. Cons Sometimes when I’m clocking and it doesn’t calculate my punches correctly, but there’s also the pro being able to adjust times and anytime I bring it up to customer service. It has worked very well and helps us keep track of hours worked. The GPS functions are so important to us. I would recommend this software to any company, especially one that has staff out in the field each day. Pros It is a very easy to use software. Adding new employees is seamless and easy. The staff does not need to be "trained" on how to use this app because it is very straight forward. I also like that we can customize what day our week starts on. We utilize the GPS tracking. This is so helpful! Every employee has to have location on when clocking in and out. This way we can see that the employee is clocking in while at the office and clocking out at the correct client's home. New employees are sent an email and text invite so they can get into the app before they even start the first day! This is a big help! The software is extremely affordable which is huge for a small business like us. It helps make payroll seamless. It is nice that we can add notes to keep track of manual clock ins, and which manager was tasked to update this. Cons There have been a few times that the app will go down on the staff or it will not load so they are not able to clock out. This might be more of a cell service issue than the OnTheClock software. I would definitely recommend the app. I forgot to mention that the app is completely FREE in your app store on your phone. I like the security they have set up within the app is on point. Pros I love that it is a very easy app to use. It does not use up to much space in your phone. It didn't cause my phone to caught any bugs that's always a plus. Cons I honestly don't have any cons about the app. It is a pretty good app to me. I love to you use it. I feel like a 3rd grader would be able to use this app with no problems. I think it would be simpler if we could just enter the day instead of using that toggle for after midnight. It can be confusing, especially for people new to using the software. I was clocking in and out comfortably after just a few days, as well as checking on my timecards once I understood where to find them. Being able to see my hours very quickly and clearly added up on the home screen allowed me to estimate my pay ahead of time without having to add them up myself. I also like that you have to click twice to actually clock in and out because it prevents accidentally clocking in when I'm going in to check something else. Cons I found the timecard grouped listings confusing at times and wish there was a way I could see them laid out in a continuous stream without solely having the weekly view setting. Its very easy to clock in and out as well. I also like how you can see all your past pay stubs easily. Cons My punches seem to glitch a not and not go through sometimes. The app works as it should, and any errors have been user errors (like forgetting to clock back in). Pros I love that there is both an app and a website so I can get the most accurate punches. I also really like that I can see my hours and my accruing time off. It's really simple to use, too. Cons I don't think the location services are the best that they can be. It often thinks I am just a few hundred feet or so from where I am (which isn't a huge deal because my company isn't strict on that).
