Out of the box we were able to get immediate value, and over time we have been customizing our experience to our unique business needs. Cons A little bit rigid sometimes. Not only has the FP&A team been able to streamline their work, they have been empowered to offer more in terms of custom requests and shorter lead times. Pros The ease of use and ability to work from any device. Cons The reports need work and better support for custom formulas. As a start-up MSP as we are adding partners and capabilities - both software and software across different verticals in our business plan daily, we have a very elastic business model. Yet, we are still financially constrained in start-up mode. So, our projections for revenue, allocation, and hiring as we build our short to long term business plan requires more agility. The ability to aggregate more nimble data to make adjustments in our projections, justifications in key areas like hiring or expansion, and where to focus our budget allocations requires the sophistication representative of what Adaptive Insights offers as opposed to something more static. It is super easy to use and training new employees is a breeze. Cons Our adaptive administrator sometimes struggles with the data integration from netsuite in some instances. It took quite a bit of time to build out al of our models. Our budget managers have responded very positively to Adaptive. We appreciate that we are no longer passing excel spreadsheets back and forth. One budget manager even started that she is having the important budget conversations a month earlier than she used to. We are still working to develop our reporting in Adaptive. Pros Various user groups can be built out to limit exposure to personnel information. I particular like the report feature where you can design the reports you need, and it can replace all the Excel spreadsheets you need to create by yourself with all the formula links. Cons I think the product would be even more useful if we could fully utilize its budgeting function. However, this is mostly our internal issue rather than the issues with the product or vendor. One weakness I would point out is about the foreign exchange rate that can be applied to the B/S and P/L. The system basically provides two different rates per currency per month (EOM rate and Monthly Average rate). In reality, in B/S, you will have accounts that need to apply historical rates like fixed assets so none of these two rates can be used. Review Source TK Tyler K. Pros It is great for all different accounting needs. It seems to be pretty versatile. it allows for separating different lines of business and not allow others to mess with your projections. The software is very user-friendly and utilizes some of the best features of Excel. Cons Although Adaptive gave us a great deal of flexibility in adding as many users as we needed to allow us to think through the users and the roles, it's a very sales-driven organization, and they were somewhat pushy to have us sign contracts by the end of the quarter in order to fill their quotas. Pros Was extremely easy to set up a budget, and maintain through excel and other existing files. Adaptive is cloud based similar to google drive, so we can all work on the same files without overlap. Pros I like how it is easy to use and that they thought of the things that we really need to do our job. It looks good and works. Cons They have an excel add in you can use and I love it. In addition, many reconciliation routes are available to ensure data and structures are input correctly. Intuitive reporting and excellent data visualization significantly impact financial decision making, resulting in higher levels of confidence and transparency throughout the forecasting process. February 1, 2017 4.0 I've been using Adaptive for about 6 months now. I'm using a model that was created by my predecessor, so I had to learn how things were set up by them. Once you get the hang of it, it's not a bad tool to use, but it's not always intuitive. I think I would have a better time if I had implemented the original model myself, but I'm getting used to it. They recently moved away from Java based reporting, which has improved the reporting system interface. Pros Create as simple or as complex models as you desire. Financial Analyst Used the software for: ### "Great Addition to the Adaptive Suite" January 27, 2015 4.0 When first using the Discovery product in the Adaptive Suite, I found it to be a little difficult to maneuver, both due to slow load speeds as well as a non-intuitive interface. I found that after working in it a while, taking a couple of tutorials and reading through the user guide, I was able to maneuver through it better. The connection speed issues also seem to have been resolved since it's introduction. Despite those initial cons, the product provides immense opportunity for managers to view important operational metrics in a useful and eye-pleasing manner. It can bring metrics to your users in a way that works for them, as it is flexible to adapt to what is needed for multiple types of operations. The customer service from Adaptive is also very receptive and helpful. They are very attentive to your needs and have good follow up. Great Product overall. Review Source WS William S. Used the software for: ### "Our Early Stages of Implementation " September 27, 2016 4.0 Once we implemented the first module we were able to begin adding dimensionality and attributes that made our reporting and fiscal planning a lot easier. It takes time to create the hierarchies but in the end, this ability is not only the first step, but it's an important one. If you are going into the implementation with a solid plan of how you want to view your organization, then you can have a nice return on the initial phase of investment using the product. In addition to the above, being able to drive budgeting and forecasting through user created sheets / models inside Adaptive. This product has allowed us to save time during close, and also during budget season, leaving us more time to understand the business and support the company with a perspective that wasn't previously possible with the team using excel for all reporting and planning.
