Sales Music Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Not at all user friendly" May 4, 2018 2.0 Auto-pay feature Pros Once you get the hang of AIMsi, everything is trackable. There is never any question about inventory, if or when a payment went through, or who still owes money. The auto-pay feature is also very beneficial. Cons AIMsi is way too difficult to use. It takes longer than necessary to understand and get used to. It crashes if you leave it alone for too long, and automatic payments aren't actually automatic - you have to go through a whole process to run stored cards, and you have to REMEMBER to do it. The digital bound book makes federal record keeping much easier then a traditional paper bound book. They offer complete training and on-site set up, for a price. Cons When printing statements, it prints old accounts with no address. Apparently there is no way to filter the ones with no address out so I have to manually remove them. Occasionally one slips past and they are returned to us by the Post Office. Arts and Crafts Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Johnson's Sewing Centre" January 19, 2017 3.0 I have been working with Aimsi since 2005 and my #1 wish would have Canadian Payroll as part of the program. The Lesson module is geared only to music lessons, not for use with sewing and quilting stores. Even though the program is marketed to sewing and vacuum stores the Lesson Module doesn't work well. The purchase order module could be made better committed and in committed orders are confusing, and it's more time consuming to use the program than to hand write a PO. The number of accounts that are available for banking needs to increase as there are many more payment options these days. We take e-transfers, direct deposits, gift cards, as well as cash, cheque, debit, and 3 major credit cards plus gift cards from these various places. Since we deal with a number of outside agents that get stock from us we have had to be very creative with using the transfer in and out a program to keep track of the inventory that is sent to these agents. Pros The price point is very affordable and tech help has always been good Bryan is great at what he does. Cons Needs to have a more modern look and feel, and could be made more efficient, maybe being able to have windows open, when you generate a report you can not minimize the report and generate a second one without launching another Aimsi window this uses unnecessary server resources. Retail Used the software for: ### "AIMSi Software is powerful, but pay for the premium support package" September 9, 2014 4.0 Pros Once you learn it, there's nothing it can't do compared to other software like this. Their premium support team is absolutely phenomenal. We're a small business so our bookkeeping department is small and our expertise is in running our specialty fitness business, not running a bookkeeping company so we often need help navigating through errors and understanding how data entry in a module ripples through the system. These guys don't talk down to us and resolve our issues every time. Cons Reporting for multiple locations could be better. For example I can't see sales by store location on the same report. And, there are some processes dealing with transactions b/w locations that could be more automated instead of requiring so much data entry and manual clearing. Hard to plug and play just any bookkeeper into this software as well because it's not as prevalent. As long as your bookkeeper understands the basic tenants of accounting like entries must balance and they know what a ledger account is then they'll pick it up with a little bit of training. There are things about it that are far more intuitive than what we were using previously, which is why we chose this system. Cons Once we completed the purchase, the dumped a bunch of documentation on us and did a quick training on basic functionality. Then we never heard from them again. We had to figure out on our own how to install, transfer data, etc. When we asked for more service, we got a lot of blowback and were told "You had training; you should be asking us when you need help." The problem is that we don't know what we're doing, so how do we know that we need help until we actually run into an issue? When we did ask for help (I repeatedly asked for a checklist of items that need to be completed prior to launch), I never heard back on any of my requests. I think there should be both an account executive and a tech support person assigned to the account that take you from purchase to launch. That way, you aren't dealing with multiple support people who aren't familiar with your case. Review Source MH Mark H. September 4, 2014 4.0 Pros The software has many facets which you can tailor to your company's needs. We have been using AIMsi for 11 years now and have watched the software grow into a powerful program that takes care of our inventory, accounting, A/R, A/P, and bank reconciliation. Support at Tri-Tech has been phenomenal. We've had a few hiccups in the past with bugs or mistakes that an employee has made (which we couldn't fix ourselves). Tri-Tech support has been there to always walk us through the issue, and 98% of the time, we've been able to resolve our issues. Cons There isn't much that we don't like about AIMsi, but we do wish that the check ledger was accessible in a manner like QuickBooks. The same goes for the bank reconciliation module. It doesn't make sense that in order to clear checks, the statement clearing date must always be the last day of the month in order for all the cleared and uncleared checks to show up together. Actually easier than the old software to log in and out of. We all have worked together in learning and share when we find another advantage to this system. Pros This software made conversion easy and effective. I had no problems with changing over from our old software to . A few corrections were needed but overall very easy. Know what features your business needs and doesn’t need to save your workload. Pros It literally had everything, but also more than what I knew what to do with. It has every function imaginable to accommodate every business, even if yours wouldn’t necessarily need it. Cons With all the functions, I felt overwhelmed to learn them all one by one, and although I didn’t need them or understand them, I’m sure another business out there needed it and appreciated it. We currently use the rental contract module and sales invoices the most, but plan to expand to several other modules in the near future. It's very helpful to be able to slowly implement different modules at our own pace to fit our store's needs. It is convenient that you can call and get assistance with a question on how to use the software. Cons Their tech support. They are polite but clueless! The service we were getting years ago with the standard support was much better than what we get now for the same money. We feel that the people we talk with do not know the software very well and are making wild guesses on how to solve the problem we are inquiring about. Many times we are given conflicting advice from different tech guys on the same issue. Numerous times we have been on hold for up to an hour waiting for their tech guy to figure out how to solve a problem or just answer a question we have about using a certain feature from their software. It is very frustrating and it is waste of our time. Also, you have to pay for every single new module or improvement they make. Unfortunately once you buy their software and start paying every year to add a new module, you do not have a choice to cancel since you have invested quite a lot of money. Review Source EK Eva K. The training period had expired, which added to the complications of trying to understand and navigate the software. I went with a different program which seems to fit our store needs. I hope you have continued success with AIMSI. Pros A detailed software program that would be great for a retail oriented business. Great for the creative programmer. Cons Too many menus and not user friendly for quick access. Very complicated to navigate or change input. Not conducive to inventory of various different items, such as a consignment store. Knowing that I can look at other stores' inventory and get transfers also makes the process easier than having to order new stock for each individual store. I originally came from a small music store where everything was done on paper such as contracts, payments, and all sales. It made organization a lot tougher and more room for mathematical error. With the computerized equations and adding and subtracting, totals are much easier to find, and less human paperwork and calculating are required. Cons I have noticed that some payment processing and saving transactions seem to hang up at the end and take a few seconds to process and complete. Also, at times, the software seems to overwork itself or the computer, cause AIMsi to be unresponsive, and freeze up the computer. The user interface was confusing and it was hard to find what I needed in all the menus. It tended to throw away information if you didn't know how to save things. Lots of keystrokes to do anything. Counter-intuitive methods if you are used to other systems. Good customer support, and I like that it is powerful, but that is no good if have to call customer support every time you need to do something. I quit using this product with some regrets and went to Lightspeed, which I hate but at least I can get it to work. Using AIMsi was an unpleasant and frustrating experience. And they need a new name for it, something with more meaning than -ess-eye. Also, send people who understand your product to Interbike, not the baffled kid I talked to. Review Source MB Matt B. The program has a ton of features but I understand about 1/10th of them. Very frustrating and the tech support is costly, yet you almost need it as they charge outrageous fees for calling tech support without it. Pros Customer service is good. They can patch in to help with issues. Lot's of functions and features. Cons Training modules are painful to watch. Not quality at all. Have to pay for support. Learning system is a long process. The best pro I give the product is that it has great capabilities with tracking inventory. AIMsi rates well in that category. My main criticism of the product is that AIMsi is not intuitive to the users. It has always had an old clumsy feel, though through the years this has gotten better. And it still is not an easy software to interact with. When we train an employee it AIMsi is always a hard part of the training because even millennials don’t find AIMsi user-friendly. I was just at NAMM and had people ask me our success with the software…because of its reputation of being nonuser friendly.
