Used the software for: ### "" October 11, 2012 5.0 We first began using AIMsi in 2001. The staff was helpful in setting us up, and the software was great to work with. We use most every module available, and have been able to grow our busines, and our profits steadily each year. Because we sell bicycles, fitness equipment and shoes, our operation has to run as two seperate stores, yet combine the P&L and such reports for actual trackings. AIMsi does this very well, and with minimal efforts on our part. My previous POS was DOS based, and thus needed to be updated to a Windows environment. AIMsi was the best package I could find, and it still apperas to me to be the best, most complete package available today. Ease of use is important, since we employee several students as part timers, and they move on when school is over. AIMsi is easy to use, to learn and to work with. Our most impressive things are the accounting, inventory management, time clock feature, and the contact management module. We are very happy with the system, the support and the entire staff from Tri-tech! Review Source AA Alexander A. Retail Used the software for: ### "AIMsi Experience" October 16, 2014 3.0 Pros There are a vast amount of reports that can be generated with the software, which is important to businesses like mine. Many other P.O.S's have some standardized reports available, but AIMsi allows you to tailor the reports to your needs. AIMsi also allows you to create a touchscreen POS interface, which is convenient for quick sales and short ticket transactions. Cons Although it's not a problem particularly for myself, my co-workers felt it is not so simple to navigate and use. There is a training version available to circumvent that. Granted, with everything that the AIMsi allows you to do, it is understandable that interface would have to a little bit crowded. I would've liked a streamlined version without all the technical back-end options so that it would be easier to train new staff. Review Source MP Mike P. Has the ability to tie into a companies e-commerce. Active-e, Bto B, and C to B are very useful Cons As with all POS systems/software. Bugs and version updates can create issues. September 4, 2014 5.0 Pros It's rock solid and stable. It doesn't give us problems on a day-to-day basis. I do the back end part where we put instruments and accessories into the system for our rental and leasing module, and it works predictably and well. The vendor is awesome. We have received nothing but top-notch service and support from Tri-Tech. Cons The only problem I know of is inconsistent and erratic success when emailing invoices and approval sheets directly from AIMsi. What we do when it has to be right the first time is print the document, scan and email it as a PDF attachment to the customer. I also find the service module more complicated than it needs to be. It can be learned, but it takes a while. We have no complaints about the vendor; Tri-Tech is terrific! Review Source CM Casey M. " January 20, 2017 5.0 The aimsi platform has delivered quite well for us. We have way more insight into our business than we ever did before. Gone are the days of endless hours, crunching numbers, and writing endless things out by hand, or creating excel worksheets, etc. Yes, that stuff still needs to be done to an extent, as with any business. But nearly all of our bookkeeping information is a couple of clicks away. From historical daily numbers to active inventory, to scheduling and maintaining services, to employee timekeeping, and more- it's all on Aimsi! Pros Ease of use. Retail Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "AIMsi review from That Music Place" September 4, 2014 4.0 Pros Sales, inventory, accounting, rentals, and lessons are all in the same program. Popups for customer notes and inventory add-ons are extremely helpful. Messaging other users has improved our communication with each other. Cons The lesson module needs improvements. There are too many steps to entering an absence and then a makeup lesson. The absence screen needs to be merged with the schedule screen. It could be easily done by adding columns to the schedule screen for an absence checkbox and the reason box. The program has a lot of errors that causes it to shut down. Using the the inventory update Min/Max is confusing, especially with seasonal inventory. Training on this would be helpful. The help instructions seem to need to be updated and aren't always helpful. It has a TON of functionality of which I use only a small part. But the customer service is outstanding and the flexibility is huge. You'll have to narrow down what parts you want. It is a full accounting program also if you're doing accrual accounting. Most of the preset are for music stores, hobby shops, etc. I had to set it up specifically for shoe repair but it went well. We have found the software to be straightforward to learn, use for our inventory and non-inventory items. The program offers a large variety of reports for in depth analysis. Staff can be trained on the basics relatively quickly. We have found that AIMSI serves our small business needs at this time. What you need to know, you learn through a very good one on one session with a trainer form Tri-Tech who will answer all your questions and show how to do what you how to do anything you do not understand. Tech support is great and very affordable. I would highly recommend it. Pros Covers just about any retail situation you can think of and has grate tech support when needed. Review Source BG Bonnie G. Volunteer Used the software for: ### "Not for Consignment Shops" August 11, 2015 1.0 This product was offered as a replacement when AIMsi bought our previous software supplier. Unfortunately, it does not function in a way that fits with a basic consignment shop work flow. Nor does it function in the way they sold it. They would not provide a demo of the product first. We had to pay to upgrade only to find out that it was not going to work for us. Not smart, but we are a church owned thrift store (all proceeds go to charity) and the upgrade was significantly cheaper than buying some of the newer products on the market so we took the risk. As a multi store school music dealer that relies heavily on rentals and repairs, the school service modules of the software have been extremely flexible and accomodating and have served our needs well. We've used the Point of Sale and Purchase Order modules since the transition as well, and they've both offered efficiencies in our sales and ordering. The dynamic Inventory Management Min Max system has allowed us to cut between 30-55% from our inventory levels in our different product categories, creating cash that we've redeployed for business growth. Pros The ability to use it for our entire store. Cons Sometimes when I call support I get a novice (beginner) and I wish I could ask for a more knowledgeable tech but that is not allowed. Most problems I experience are a result of our ISP and our IT guy being off premises. Cons On rare occasions, our printer has connection issues, but a restart usually fixes it. I'm not sure if it's a problem with AIMsi or if it's external. I would like a change in how emailing a receipt works. You have to print a paper copy to email. The biggest drawback is the cost for each module. I know it's business software and anything that works well is not inexpensive. As long as it works as well as it does, it's an accepted trade-off. It handles just about any situation you could encounter in retail sales (from discounting to packaging to short-term rentals to leasing to gift cards) with a huge array of reports so I can get the useful information I need to make sound business decisions. Cons It's not the easiest software to learn. It's neither intuitive nor entirely menu-driven, and the way some tasks are accomplished just doesn't make a lot of sense (unnecessarily complex or circuitous). Tech support is available if you have an issue. Cons It has the tendency to lock up and crash for random (but sometimes predictable) reasons. This has improved with the release of later versions, but it still is an issue. If you're not a strong computer-person, you can spend considerable amounts of time trying to get AIMsi to do a particular thing. The user manual isn't comprehensive. Different windows contain fields which have no explanation for their use. I use the Accounts payable and receivable features plus purchase orders and it all works great together. The Point of Sale feature is so easy to use and understand, makes it great for new hires. First Pro's: It makes recording keeping a snap, from bookkeeping to inventory. I can print reports that cover all the needs I can think of from most perspectives. Looking at inventory, reordering inventory based on sales. Cost figures, rental income, Publications and those little things, like picks. I can set a teachers discount, or leave a note to show them something specific....... Cons: Sometimes you have to hit to many buttons, sometimes you have to edit the sales tax because it's set-up for gross sale, not net where you add sales tax.... Also, I wanted a program that was capable of renting instruments. The more I work with the program, the more I find things unexpectedly - and the more I like it. The vendor has been exceptional with their help in getting me started. Cons I find the account reconciliation section a little confusing. Not so much in balancing, but the information displayed. I can see where the program is designed for an individual with accounting experience, but for the lay person its difficult to understand. I can't say anything negative about the vendor. I like that very much. The interface is very user-friendly once you get the hang of it, and the tech support is quick to talk you through your questions. Receipts and reports are professional-looking and useful for bookkeeping. Cons The tech support is not available on Saturdays or evenings, which can be a bummer when something goes terribly wrong during their off hours.
