I very rarely have to repeat my work which is a time saver. Quite frequently it ends up being an issue with the pharmacy and not this prescriber. Pros Ease of use once you learn the particulars. You can access it anytime day or night. Very rarely has this product been unavailable for use. Cons I still struggle with having to reset the password to get in as well as the password for my controlled substances. It also is disheartening when you click the VIP button, but then you actually have to go through and check the authenticator again and put those numbers in the appropriate spot instead of the alternative quicker way. I wish there were an integrated PMP feature - required in Texas for controlled substances Pros It's affordable and fairly easy to use. I like that staff accounts are free. Cons First and foremost, clinicians should be able to assign Rx to other prescribers within the practice from their own account. This is stupid that you don't have this feature. APRNs and PAs are unable to prescribe CII in Texas and need to set these up for their supervising physicians. Currently, our APRNs have to access a staff account to do this and they should be able to do it from their own account. Clinicians and staff make frequent mistakes with regards to assigned pharmacy. I think it would be better to force a selection every time and not auto populate with last used pharmacy. Alternatives considered [Dr. First](https://www.capterra.com/p/119759/Rcopia/) Reason for choosing MDToolbox-Rx price - see above. I would prefer to use something integrated but my charting software did not have it when I first subscribed. Switched from [Dr. First](https://www.capterra.com/p/119759/Rcopia/) Switched from Valant (integrated) to Therapy Notes which initially did not have integrated eprescribing. They do have one now but the cost has not been competitive with what we pay for MDToolBox. If your prices went up, I would definitely cancel my subscription and switch to the integrated software for Therapy Notes. Review Source MV Miriam V. Review Source JW Jeffrey W. owner Medical Practice Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Better than I expected" November 22, 2023 4.0 searching for an eRx and not having my practice in an institution it was confusing finding an application and learning what steps are needed to be validated to prescribe. That wasn't a function of mdtoolbox but of learning what I would need mdtoolbox or any provider of eRx solutions to provide. MDToolbox handled that process. Although there are a few rough spots setting up and then using the application has been much less complicated and difficult than I had expected. There were a couple instances when I couldn't locate the pharmacy from their list. I contacted support which helped me find what I needed. not intuitive at those instances but otherwise has been useful effective and easy. Also cost though significant isn't crazy. Pros once each patient's demographics are input and the first medication is prescribed it is generally very easy to repeat. with controlled meds there is the second step to validate but that is also fairly quick and easy. it took a little while to figure out once a med is chosen to refill what the steps are to check two boxes and then select "complete" to prepare sending the rx. sometimes a patient's name isn't listed when sending a prescription but the "search patient" option works. It sometimes isn't visible for some reason but when scrolling the patient list it eventually shows up. Cons sometimes the app selects a different pharmacy such as one used months earlier. other times it can be nearly impossible to find the correct pharmacy in the app especially with large chain pharmacies with many stores...sometimes store number helps make sure it's the right pharmacy and searching is almost always better not entering normal identifying information but DO ENTER THE ZIP CODE FIRST THING. After using the application for a long time I discovered that I can make pharmacies favorite pharmacy one or two or three for the patient....and have each patient have a short list of repeatedly used pharmacies. Not at all easy to provide instructions for compounded medications. Review Source Richard D. The fact that you have a complete history of the patienet medications is an excellent tool to determine if patienet have been taking the medications regularly as prescribed Cons So far, I have not had any bad experiences when I use the MDtoolbox-RX it provide a sense of comfort knowing the te pharmacy and only the pharmacy knows the medication plan and as I select a patient is right on my eyes Review Source MM Margie M. I get a real person every time which is almost unheard of these days. The support team worked with our EHR vendor to export and import client data. It's easy to set up new users. There are lots of ways to search for a client. Every pharmacy we have ever needed was always listed. Overall a great product. I recommended it to other community mental health centers in my state. Cons My biggest complain is that there is no option to import vitals into EHR. I keep asking for this capability but so far it is still not an option. It allows me to provide services to those in need. I have easy access via my laptop. The price is reasonable. I appreciate the alerts which allow for me to consider best options. I still have not mastered the ability to use it on my phone. first, because I don't have the ability to save the password that changes every few months, and then likely, if I am not doing it at my desk, I can't access my password folder from the phone. Cons I would like the website to be a little more forgiving. for example, if I need to change pharmacies for patients, which is common with all the drug shortages, it is not aways user friendly. Love the cancel script feature Pros So easy to use. I love that I can order compounds too. Cons search for pharmacies is not great. Have to clear a box in order to click in the name box. Response time for clicks is very good, finding the right pharmacy fairly easy, with different methods of doing so, and sending Rxs is quick. Cons My main complaint is that often in the list of medications, the same medication appears multiple times, and discontinued medications still are shown as current. Pharmacy search is the MOST bothersome and TIME consuming aspect of this software the would possibly cause me to change to another vendor. Patient database export is a HUGE feature drawback that is not available. Pros Most cost effective Easy to process medications Cons Very very difficult to find pharmacies Pharmacy search algorithm by city or street very poor Setup and options are very difficult to understand and not user friendly Search for patients often hangs or stalls and recent patient list should be much longer I should be able to export my entire list of patients receiving medications on an excel spreadsheet format so that these can be reviewed and assessed in their entirety without searching for patients one by one. Reason for choosing MDToolbox-Rx Price was initial reason I started but have found many drawbacks to the service and software.
