Pros: Well laid out and visually appealing. I love the integration with Wiley treatment planners, which speeds up charting.

Cons: Not very intuitive, and feels akward navigating at times. Needs a better "snapshot" of overall status of charting, billing, etc so things don't fall through the cracks. I really wanted to like it, but ended up looking into other options. Was my #2 pick, and definitely has a lot of potential when the bugs get worked out.

Pros: Great for managing our small business. Ease of keeping up with appointments and tracking therapist notes and updates.

Cons: Not able to sync with ical mobile calendar. If we become a larger business we might have to switch softwares because it will be too hard to manage.

Pros: The overall package is very robust and affordable. The support staff is responsive to questions as well.

Cons: The system is feels clunky compared to other systems available. The calendar dosen┬┐t offer the flexibility that I would like which is really important to me.

Comments: Many programs make you pay extra for forms and templates and this one is no different. Nonetheless, it would be nice to be able to have access to a few simple templates for treatment goals and interventions

Pros: Easy to write daily notes from the dashboard. Tracks group therapy notes. Can do the billing through Theranest, but the process could be streamlined some

Cons: Unfortnuately, although I can do the billing through this program, it doesn't allow the tracking of any expenses. Next effect it that I end up having to repeat the billing in QuickBooks, so I can get a full picture of my P&L.

Pros: The program is easy to use and keeps everything organized. I am able to upload documents and save them to the client's file for future reference.

Cons: The assessment form is very general and doesn't ask thorough questions that are important for a mental health history.

Cons: Some features are limited but targetted for development. Other than that, I have no complaints and am satisfied.

Pros: The support staff has been SO tremendously helpful to me. I'm a solo-practitioner figuring this all out on my own and it wasn't a smooth transition from my old system to this one. I have asked her SO many questions and she has been so patient and responsive. This is absolutely the best feature of your software - - - the software itself is great - - but it's like you get your own "office manager" support along with it which is SO helpful if you're on your own

Cons: It's taken me a while to figure out some billing kinks....a handful of my first submitted claims were rejected and took a lot of extra leg work on my end

Pros: The program presented as professional and user friendly, however, the price to use this software monthly was not in my price range.

Cons: Price for monthly use. The ease of use is nice as well as ability to do billing along with electronic health record keeping.

Pros: I love the mobile app, which allows me to schedule clients and complete notes. Notes are especially easy to complete using the "copy from last" function.

Cons: The insurance billing function is confusing and requires numerous extra steps to process a payment, especially an insurance claim that has been adjusted (most of our business).

Overall: Helped us set up electronic health records for an affordable cost, especially just starting out. My staff love the mobile app, which surpasses the functionality of many other EHR systems.

Pros: Meets all my clinical needs and then some! Any questions for support gets answered w/in 1 day. Easy to use and set up.

Cons: Wish this product was available in Canada or in local currency. Would like to have reports on the clients hours completed.

Pros: It looks great, the implementation of Wiley planner is fantastic, and it gets the job done. The color scheme is nice (it looks pretty)

Cons: Extra fees for: wiley planner, customer portal, reminders, adding staff (pay once to add them, then to give access to wiley, then to give access to client portal!), more than 30 clients, etc! Plus, there is a 10 mb limit on uploading docs to client files. The editor for the intake paperwork is atrocious (let me upload a PDF!). The credit card payments take MONTHS to post in your account. No direct notifications when a client messages you! Unable to edit "non patient appointments" on the mobile app! Several buttons within forms direct you away from a page WITHOUT SAVING PREVIOUS INFORMATION! I've worked with other EHR's in the past and this one is not the worst, but the fees leave a bad taste in my mouth. There are other EHR's that just offer a flat rate and do ALL of these functions. I will be switching at the end of the year.

Overall: Nothing I didn't already get from other EHR's. Nothing special.

Pros: User-friendly. Made it very easy to leave a full-service office practice and be in private practice self sufficiently.

Cons: There is not a way to enter in account information for two parents when the client is a child of divorced parents.

Comments: Our team did over 25 demos (not kidding! My brain was numb) for various online EHR software. And, TheraNest exceeded our expectations. So, hence the 5 stars across the board.

Pros: Customer service is prompt and friendly. Layout is user-friendly. Billing and payment process is simple. Encourages ideas for enhancements from the very professionals using the software. Continually updating and upgrading system to make it a great fit for the behavioral health field.

Pros: Note taking, initial assessment evaluations, treatment plans are a breeze with this software especially with the Wiley treatment plans and Wiley progress notes. The calendar allows you to block out nonclient time and keep your schedule in a HIPAA compliant calendar. Billing, insurance forms, and invoices are time saving as well as uploading custom forms.

Cons: Invoices must be completed before entering notes in order to have place of service included in note. Additionally, in order to have date prerecorded in your note it needs to be done from the dashboard and not from the client's file.

I have been really happy with Theranest and the customer support has been the best part!

Pros: I really like that I can do everything in one place. I can keep notes, upload documents, bill clients, and updates forms.

Cons: I wish there were a way to turn on and off certain forms that you want available to clients. Sometimes I get a couple clients at a time and I have to wait to release forms.

Pros: I like the ease of use. The dashboard is easy to navigate and find exactly what I am looking for. I never have trouble getting to a feature, even if I have never used it before.

Cons: I think there could be a few more integrations with the mobile app. Specifically, it would be good to be able to access the client documents section from time to time.

Pros: I love the ease of entering standard notes, templates, the ease with which one can create invoices. The integration with insurance clearinghouses (I use Office Ally) was the main selling point for me. Keeping track of finances, billing, invoices is very easy. Customer service is very responsive and helpful.

Cons: There are a few little tasks that need to be entered manually more than once. For example, an insurance claim that is paid needs to be marked paid, then entered again. Not a big deal.

Overall: Ease of managing a solo psychology practice. Help with insurance claims. Easier tracking of notes, invoices, billing.

Pros: The user friendly software, color scheme, and efficiency is what I like most. I recommend it to my clients and I have not gotten one complaint about your EHR. It is great for the administrative staff, clients (Therabook), and the therapist. I love that their staff make me feel like we are one big happy family working together. My questions are answered in a timely manner and they are answered effectively. The same day I might add. Theranest is the best choice for a mental health private practice.

Cons: I honestly do not have a CON. I guess since I have to submit 100 characters as a min. I will say.... I setup many account for different mental health professionals and I have to use a different email every time. That can be a pain, because I do business with my company email.

Overall: I aids my practice in running efficiently in all areas.

Comments: Also if three was an authorization ticker that would let you know when they have used up all there authorized visits

Pros: I love the billing functionality and the scheduling module is very easy to use. We also love the wiley note planner, makes writing notes very easy and simple

Cons: I would love it even more if the auto reminders would automatically update in the calendar! As well as sending a text to the assigned therapists.

Pros: The ease of use, credit card services, and great customer care. I have a dietitian and therapy practice, and via using custom forms, I can run both practices through this software.

Cons: Honestly this is a great product, I can not think of anything that I do not like. I love also that they are constantly improving, and looking add more features

Overall: Ability to use credit card services, provide quick receipts with codes to clients, keep good notes on who has paid, and who owes money, good documentation, and and thorough reports.

Pros: Ability to house billing, notes and scheduling all in one place makes this software convenient and easy.

Cons: Some of the features are not intuitive and require some practice, but after talking with customer service and practicing they all become easy to use.

Pros: The customer service, ease of billing, reports, scheduling...it's all really great. I've used other software and Theranest is far superior, the most cost effective and user friendly. Another great bonus is that you can grow at your own pace.

Cons: It was difficult to figure out how to do billing with Office Ally and Medicaid, but once it was figured out, it's been really great, easy and time saving!

Overall: Saves time, cost effective, customer service

Pros: I liked the Dashboard feature of the program, as it helped to have a through overall picture of my practice when I first opened the program.

Cons: I did not like the cumbersome set up process. I felt as if there could better streamlining of the initial setup phase.

Comments: I was literally so sad when I figured out how clunky and impractical this software is. So very sad. I had high hopes. Took a long time to move everything over, paid ahead for a YEAR, advised another therapist to go too, all for naught.

Pros: It is truly beautiful. It is downright gorgeous to look at. It walks down the catwalk with the grace of a gazelle.

Cons: The billing absolutely worse. The ERA's are a joke. Because even though you get ERA's, TheraNest can't do anything with them! YOU, as the provider, have to go in manually, and adjust everything so your numbers can be processed through the system! It is archaic and insane. It adds hours to your workload and I fail to see the point. The one thing this software should do is billing and automatic ERA operations. Even the most basic of billing softwares out there can do this. It was so disappointing. Also the calendar feature is frustrating. Of course we all have basic hours of operation, but what about the occasional exception and crisis client? Yeah, that's seriously a two page set of clicks back and forth. Like I said, the supermodel: it looks beautiful and seems so graceful at first, but ultimately that's all it can do. It is incapable of doing anything else but looking gorgeous.

Pros: Theranest is essential for anyone in the counseling profession. It is super easy to navigate and add new client data. I have been looking for a simple way to get rid of my paper files. Theranest was the answer, it gives you the capabilities to scan and store document. I am very happy with TheraNest!

Cons: My only complaint is you are not able to print off the forms unless you create a custom form.It would make it easier to print off the intake paperwork without having to create your own.

Pros: This software is easy too use once you get to really know the software. I am still struggling with some aspects of this software, but what I am finding out is that the more that one uses this software the more easy it is to use. I feel that this software now that I find myself really getting use to using it, is extremely valuable especially when it comes to seeing a lot of clients/patients on a regular basis. I basically by history as a therapist am not used to writing anything in front of my patients/clients unless it has to do with gathering information on a first visit in connection with an evaluation; otherwise, I love to devote as much eye contact with the individuals that I am serving as possible. The Theranest Software is now taking me to newer and higher ground as far as therapy is concerned and I am truly very grateful for this.

Cons: I find it sometimes difficult to write and complete progress notes for my clients so that the notes can be signed after each session, but I am presently getting more and more comfortable with this.

Pros: It is very simple and intuitive. We appreciate the level of depth with ease of navigation. Training and support are excellent. The support staff works hard to help, explain and provide guidance when needed.

Cons: Does not link to Quickbooks. We really need to be capable of integrating with accounting.
It is very difficult to have all of our sales, payment details, AR and billing separate from our accounting software. Client Portal is still in need of improvement

Pros: When I've needed customer service, my experience has been very positive. Friendly, fast, and seemed genuinely willing to help.

Cons: It's silly, but I hate that if I am entering new client information and click that there is insuranc with mental health coverage and then click the "enter insurance info" without saving first i lose all the information I just entered.

Pros: I like that it allows you to create your own notes. You don't have to pay per each provider. Scheduling looks easy to use.

Cons: Difficulties with Thera-book on the client/patient side with intake forms. Vague knowledge base that seems aimed at set-up and presenting features. I would like to have more problem solving.

Pros: TheraNest is easy to use. I am able to use on my IPAD so makes it mobile and more accessible. I have used two other programs in the past and had many technical issues with them. So far I have had no problems using TheraNest these past 6 plus months.

Pros: I like the scheduling support and the ease of accessibility from any device anywhere that TN provides.

Cons: I wish the billing statements were a better quality. They do not print well and they look plain. One client misunderstood the verbiage and under paid the balance amount due.

Pros: The client portal and the fact that the intake can be done online! I love custom forms, the appointment reminders, emails, payroll.... I love it all! I especially love the customer service. I'm a loyal customer especially because of the way they are with their customers (texting, emailing and constant improvements). 10 stars!

Cons: Id like payroll to be able to have the option to select the payouts due tab and pay clinicians when claims are paid in full. Copays are attached to this currently and I have to select "copay paid to clinician" even though it's not in order for payouts due to work the way I need it to.

I also need to be able to print out a demographics sheet on a single client to an option.

I'd also like the email to have a time that an email was sent.

Pros: Over all I like the all-in-one features. I'm not having to go outside of Theranest for any of my administrative needs. I've run into some issues on my part, e.g. not understanding a function however the CSR support is aways friendly and patient to walk me through it. :)

Pros: Files are organized and help to keep me accountable with a great, relatively easy workflow which includes billing, treatment planning, assessment, etc.

Cons: The assessment and forms are still in their rudimentary form. There's a lot of customization that they could have, and probably should have, but they can't provide that...yet...

Overall: Ease of use, integrated billing, electronic health records that are HIPAA Compliant, and overall a good workflow.

Pros: TheraNest is one-stop shopping! For an affordable monthly cost, I get everything I need to keep my practice running smoothly - I can schedule patients, send them forms ahead of their appointment via the Client Portal, submit my insurance claims in two simple clicks, and keep track of my income by running monthly reports. I also like being able to write assessments and progress notes in my own style using the customs forms feature. Can't forget about customer support; TheraNest is great over the phone, and they certainly listen to customer requests by continuously adding new features each month. For someone looking for a paperless and organized practice, TheraNest is a must!

Cons: TheraNest can be a touch confusing when initially navigating its features. However, after repeated practice, I now find it so simple and easy to use. I wish the Client Portal/Custom Forms could be advanced so that we can change the font size and have control over bolding/italicizing/underlining certain headings and words.

Pros: TN makes my note taking fast and easy. The client text notification system is a God send. He customer service is outstanding! I always get a fast, accurate and helpful answer.

Cons: I do wish that the app was as well equipped as the web version. I only rarely have an actual computer with me so I'm most often working fro the app. I'd like to have full access to all of my information and the ability to easily upload documents (kid client pictures, releases of info,) into the client chart.

Pros: Phone app was good but only lets you see by client or day. Unable to do much from it. This section is making me wrote more so - Pretty colors?

Cons: It is primitive and unnecessarily complicated at times. It is always DAYS until you hear back from a representative when you have a problem or question. The answer is "we are hiring people" but that is really not my issue nor what I am paying for. I will most likely not be renewing with Theranest.

Comments: Add in basic drop down lists for intake, interventions, treatment goals. Really really like that it offers to have group progress notes.

Pros: Simple, straightforward and intuitive. Fits with how I already take notes and schedule. Billing is probably easier than what I do with Quickbooks, but I don't file for insurance.

Cons: That it doesn't off any dropdown lists, even a few basic ones without buying the whole Wiley add-on product, which is more than I need. The "create new forms" I thought would be helpful to add in a medication list, or basic intervention list, but it is tedious to use.

Pros: I appreciate how the program provides written instruction, video clips and the option of direct messaging with a staff person to help you understand a particular aspect of the program. This format is immensely helpful in learning the many facets of managing the entire spectrum of clinical and administrative tasks that the software provides.
Additionally, this program efficiently links the clinical with the administrative in a seamless fashion. Nice!

Cons: So far, I don't have a comment about this. I am in the process of connecting with Availity RCM to proceed to using the billing component. So, hopefully that will give me a fuller experience of the scope of the software capability.

Pros: How it easy and everything is basically self explanatory. Have used numerous programs by far my favorite.

Cons: I wish it would alert when a text recieve. It would only change the appt if client only press 1 or 2 but if they respond with a message form, no alert is receive. Also a breakdown when doing a report by the insurance company.

Pros: It is very easy and does not require much training to use the basics. Previously, I kept paper records and billed with office ally. This is so much more efficient.

Cons: I wish the phone app would show the client's copayment expense. It was slow to set up because I needed to individually enter all my client demographic and insurance information even though it was in office ally who the claims are submitted through.

Pros: I like most that it has everything I need for practicing therapy, I don't have to keep up with more than one place for notes, client documents, payment, etc. It is a great "one stop shop" for counselors. It is also very easy to use.

Cons: It can be difficult to add your own forms to the client portal documents. It is possible, but I had to manually put everything in instead of being able to attach my own form.

Pros: We like having an all-inclusive system where we can schedule (and syncs with Google Calendar), take client notes, handle all of the paperwork (with no paper), collaborate via secure chat, process payments, automatically have the funds deposited in the bank, run reports, and have an app that gives each of us access to our caseload.

Cons: We have had a few glitches along the way, but it's probably due to user error. We would like to see some more robust reporting that allows us to run customized spreadsheets. Customer service is great, but it has usually been a few hours before we get a response.

Overall: Streamlines all of the things we need in an EHR

Pros: It's pretty easy to use. When I need to schedule appointments, I make a few clicks and I'm done. It also helps me stay organized because the appointment calendar syncs with Google calendar, so I don't have to update teo calendars.

Comments: I have used several scheduling and billing programs in my private practice and find Theranest to be a top contender. Theranest offers a wide variety of useful tools, such as scheduling, schedule reminders, electronic insurance claims, billing, documentation, and analytics for attendance, billing, and scheduling. I have been using Theranest for a few years now and find it to be relatively glitch-free, and when I encounter an issue or have a question, customer service is extremely helpful and quick to respond.

Pros: Theranest does a great job when it comes to submitting electronic insurance claims, creating superbills and/or invoices, and has plenty of storage for electronic files. Theranest also has an ios application that is user-friendly and helps with scheduling and task management.

Cons: The program is not very user-friendly, unlike SimplePractice which offers a more streamlined and clean look. Theranest needs to work on their calendar feature as it is not user-friendly or very practical.

Comments: We started with theranest three years ago and are very happy with the service. We had a few glitches along the way but Theranest has been excellent with customer service and responding to our questions and feedback. Our biggest concern was the billing/ledger statements and theranest has improved significantly in the past year in this area. We have 14 staff members and all find the program super easy and helpful to use which says a lot! We also get immediate response from the support team with access to online chat during business hours which I really appreciate when we need a quick question answered.

Pros: I can log in just about any where, even on my tablet.

Cons: Doesn't help me keep track of notes that I need to finish and close.

Overall: I was hoping you could alter the program to show the notes for all clients that I have not finished and closed in one area. I would also like it to show which notes need to be done from appointments that the person actually attended. Reminders are wonderful.

Recommendations to other buyers: Keep making it user friendly and help those of us who are busy and need reminders. Show the notes that need to be done, completed and closed.

Pros: The many features that it gives the provider. Of course billing is easy and tracking revenue.

Cons: When you first begin using it, it may can be a bit confusing but once you practice you get used to it. Another con is that you can not transfer information from your old software.

Overall: Theranest is the best practice management system ever. I have used two prior practice management systems and none compare to theranest. Theranest provides you with billing that prints statements, reconciles billing and even emails statements to your clients. It also provides you with a nice graph that keeps you up to date on how much money you have outstanding and how much you have collected. The best feature of all are the notes! Love the Wiley notes and treatment plans. It saves me so much time when I am doing patient notes. The Wiley notes is an extra cost but is so worth it. I can do my notes in half the time. It creates goals, objectives, everything you need to capture patient data. You must try this product, I am so glad I did. Once last shout out is that there customer support is awesome! They pop up on my screen asking if I need assistance and send friendly emails. The price is amazing for the service.!

Recommendations to other buyers: Just a good product. The transition can be difficult but once you learn how to use it, it's a great product.

Comments: TheraNest in my opinion is better for smaller practices that don't see hundreds of clients a week. Used this software at a smaller mental health treatment center and it was sufficient and a cheaper option compared to other platforms.

Pros: Mobile friendly! Very helpful for the therapists who can't access a computer between appointments. Covers the essential basics for a psychiatric practice.

Cons: A bit labor intensive to keep up to date with. Hard to train people to use - not the most user friendly. Very easy to accidentally delete important information.

Comments: Theranest has many great features and is mostly user friendly. It falls short on some basic features though. The program does not allow you to refund a patient if needed. You have to contact tech support and send and email with the pertinent information instead of just processing the refund directly. Also, we have patients that see different people in our practice or are using different services, which are at different fees. The program does not allow you to input the fee for the service, instead it is one fee for the person and you need to make sure you catch when they are using a different service or person and adjust the fees. This is a very weak feature of the program and can cause numerous billing issues if the person isn't extremely careful prior to running the charge. I hope these issues and others, that nI don't have time to list are addressed and resolved.

Comments: We have had to learn this business from personal experience, experimentation, and re-try. I so wish that I would have found this product years ago. Between providing quality clinical psychotherapy, serving the community with presentations and lectures, meeting professionals inside and outside of my field of practice, consistently working on my social media presence, targeting and finding my so-called "brand", growing in my authentic self, self-care, AND loving being a father to the best kids in the world.... I demand a system that works when it is supposed to and is simple when I engage with it.
THERANEST is pleasurable for me.
I have changed my mindset from paperwork as a burden, to it being a "wellness step" included in the plan for my patients. This product helped me make that shift so it has not been such a vexing and fearful chore. I don't spend energy with things like that in this phase of my life or my practice. Overall: I find the format easy to use, the ledger supportive of tracking both my insurance and self-pay clients, and I like the dashboard that lets me know who is showing up that day for appointments.

Recommendations to other buyers: It is easy to use, easy to get started. I tried other EHR that were not so user friendly.

Comments: I'm new to Theranest and so far I like it and seems fairly easy to use and understand. However, there seems to be a major glitch in the Treatment Plans category we use. When typing a sentence if a coma is used it ends the sentence and goes into the next intervention. It takes a long time to write one small paragraph. I've had to write it in Word then copy and paste it. This section doesn't seem to work as smoothly as the Initial Assessment and Diagnostic Code section which allows for paragraphs, comas, periods and other notations without sending words to another category or section.

Comments: I have really enjoyed this program and it makes documentation very easy and convenient. My only suggestion would be a way to make alerts for myself that would show up either on the dashboard or somewhere else about certain paperwork or tasks that need to be completed (treatment plans, call a parent, etc). Comments: I am a small college counseling center. Prior to TheraNest all my notes were on paper. TheraNest is very affordable and allows me to be more efficient and timely with maintaining client notes. Very thankful for this product.

Comments: I've been using TheraNest since November and I've really been enjoying it. I love the template for notes, the ease of scheduling, and it helps me to keep track of everything all in one place. Overall: Hello, I am a licensed professional counselor in private practice. I have used Theranest for 3 years now and plan on using this application in the future. It is very affordable and user- friendly. My favorite feature of Theranest of the customer support. Every time I have a problem or a question, all I have to do is send a quick note from the icon at the bottom of the screen and someone gets back to me asap.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take the leap, it's worth it.

Comments: I tried out a variety of therapy note programs when I started by practice. Theranest won me over with its ease of use, simplicity, credit processing, and the chat support. Can't think of any drawbacks!

Comments: This is the first time our practice has switched to EHR and TheraNest has made the switch spectacular. One of my favorite things about this software is how easy it is to learn and use. We have counselors of all different ages who have easily adapted from paper to electronic documentation because of TheraNest's practical and simple interface. I also have appreciated the customer support. TheraNest staff is always there to help and they are constantly listening to users to add functions to make their software better.
