Pros

All the needs for a therapist rolled into one package. Very easy to use and great support team that is responsive.

Cons

Limitations on how data can be pulled for reports, but most basic reporting needs are present.

### "The Supermodel of Mental Health Integrated Software"

I was literally so sad when I figured out how clunky and impractical this software is. So very sad. I had high hopes. Took a long time to move everything over, paid ahead for a YEAR, advised another therapist to go too, all for naught.

Pros

It is truly beautiful. It is downright gorgeous to look at. It walks down the catwalk with the grace of a gazelle.

Cons

The billing absolutely worse. The ERA's are a joke. Because even though you get ERA's, can't do anything with them! YOU, as the provider, have to go in manually, and adjust everything so your numbers can be processed through the system! It is archaic and insane. It adds hours to your workload and I fail to see the point. The one thing this software should do is billing and automatic ERA operations. Even the most basic of billing softwares out there can do this. It was so disappointing. Also the calendar feature is frustrating. Of course we all have basic hours of operation, but what about the occasional exception and crisis client? Yeah, that's seriously a two page set of clicks back and forth. Like I said, the supermodel: it looks beautiful and seems so graceful at first, but ultimately that's all it can do. It is incapable of doing anything else but looking gorgeous.

### "Good EHR that meets most of my needs"

I have been with them since 2016 and have seen them continue to upgrade and change things to meet the needs of their customers. Not perfect yet so there is still a ways to go, but they do a good job overall.

Pros

I like that it is affordable and enables me to connect with phone, iPad or laptop fairly seamlessly and is easy to do most things I need for my counseling business.

Cons

I would like a better system for progress review and treatment planning and for great customization of notes and forms in general.

Reason for choosing TheraNest

At the time, they seemed to have the best options for the price.

i don't like that I am unable to speak with a customer service representative when I have a problem. I don't like having to schedule an appointment when it is a quick question. I called a number that stated that I can speak with a live person but no one was there. That was very frustrating. As a business person I don't like having to spend most of my day waiting to speak with someone especially if it's something special.

Pros

I like that I can integrate my information from my Excel spread sheet. I like that I can schedule my clients on the software. I like that I can bill from the software.

Cons

I like that I can integrate my information from Excel however the process to do it is time consuming. I don't like that I can't upload my clinical assessment into , I will have to create my assessment all over again. I don't like when I am completing my notes it takes awhile before I can get rid of the suggested words. I also don't like that I can't upload my company intake information. I have fill and sign Adobe documents but I can't upload it for my clients to go into a portal and fill out the intake forms. I don't like how the phone APP works. It is hard to see the appointments. I think the minimum caseload should allow us to have at least 40 clients instead of 30.

Company has always been fairly responsive to questions. It has made changes over time to better meet the needs of user. For our purposes, it is overly focused on insurance billing.

Pros

Makes process of intake to scheduling to documenting to collecting fees relatively seamless.

Cons

Some of the defaults are unhelpful eg issues around superbills.

Pros

is user-friendly and the programs are easy to navigate through. I am new to this product and it didn’t take me a long time to learn how to use it.

Cons

Sometimes it’s hard to set my notes in to the program and save them. I think some of it is operator error but it would be nice to have it easier to get my initial assessments treatment plans and progress notes organized where I don’t have to go back-and-forth through the program to document a session

Pros

It is great for scheduling and completing progress notes for my clients. I also like how I get e-mails prompting me to review a treatment plan-- VERY helpful.

Cons

There is one form that I use that was a little tricky at first and still is at times. When I click in one particular field to type it took me to a different form and it was hard navigating back and forth and figuring out where I was. You also have to click save frequently. A message 'document saved' comes up repeatedly without me clicking save but it is not really saved until I click save.

I have been using over three years and as soon as I started looking elsewhere as my practice began to grow, new features were created that are in the lane of what we need. I’m likely not going elsewhere for a long time.

Pros

This software/company grows as you do. They are constantly working to create and implement new features and listening to their users for ways to make the software more fluid for our businesses.

Cons

Customer support can feel a bit overwhelmed and the new clearinghouse has some major kinks to work out but still value for the money.

Ease of managing a solo psychology practice. Help with insurance claims. Easier tracking of notes, invoices, billing.

Pros

I love the ease of entering standard notes, templates, the ease with which one can create invoices. The integration with insurance clearinghouses (I use Office Ally) was the main selling point for me. Keeping track of finances, billing, invoices is very easy. Customer service is very responsive and helpful.

Cons

There are a few little tasks that need to be entered manually more than once. For example, an insurance claim that is paid needs to be marked paid, then entered again. Not a big deal.

Pretty easy to work with. I work with the software daily and it is pretty intuitive. There are several features that are interactive and straightforward.

Cons

I'd like to have it where clients can schedule and do all the paperwork in their own portal. This would allow all of the necessary information to be stored within the software.

### "Making the switch to electronic records"

The Parenting Center now uses for all clinical and billing records, allowing us to eliminate paper records almost entirely. Communication between providers and schedulers is easy.

Pros

Once you are comfortable with it regular tasks such as progress notes, assigning diagnoses, treatment plans are fairly easy to perform.

Cons

In my experience the learning curve was quite steep. I had to learn how to perform many functions all at once for it to be useful. I had previous experience with another electronic record system and found it easier to learn.

in my opinion is better for smaller practices that don't see hundreds of clients a week. Used this software at a smaller mental health treatment center and it was sufficient and a cheaper option compared to other platforms.

Pros

Mobile friendly! Very helpful for the therapists who can't access a computer between appointments. Covers the essential basics for a psychiatric practice.

Cons

A bit labor intensive to keep up to date with. Hard to train people to use - not the most user friendly. Very easy to accidentally delete important information.

I was wary of getting cloud-based software and paying a monthly fee vs. a one-shot-deal. is so worth it. They are constantly improving features; it is mostly intuitive to use; and customer support is always available and fast.

Pros

Treatment plans, progress notes, and scheduling are a breaze. Setting up credit card payments was also very easy. All the diagnostic codes are there. Also, as someone with a part-time private practice, paying by the number of active clients vs. number of clinicians using the software keeps the price down. It's easy to set up text or email appointment reminders. I don't work with insurance panels, but it looks easy to do.

Cons

It's a little annoying that there's an extra fee to set it up so that clients can use the client portal to do scheduling, but this wasn't an important feature to me anyway, so I just haven't bothered with it.

User friendly, easy to put treatment plans in place, and it is very easy to put in a diagnosis.

Pros

As a therapist who has worked for 20 years, I came from a paper file only environment. I really like because it is so user friendly. My career as a therapist is my second career, which puts me well over 70 years old. The important take away is “user friendly”.

Cons

The challenge that I have is the difficulty in adding new information. Once I sign the note, no further action is permitted. There is an addendum which can be added for writing down the new information, however inserting a copy of a subpoena, letter, e-mail, or text conversation is not permitted. At least I have not been able to do it.

Cons

E prescribe could be a little more user friendly. Client Portal is difficult for some patients. Can only use the patient's email once in the client portal so for a parent with children only 1 in the family can use the same email.

has amazing customer service. You can actually get someone on the phone if you have an issue.

I found it to be less intuitive than the other EHRs out there. It took a little longer to learn how to do everything.

### "Best Software for Therapy Private Practice"

I LOVE . I have been a customer for a year and a half, and it makes notes, billing, and payment so easy. I am the only employee for my part-time therapy practice, and Theranest allows me to do everything myself. I also purchased TheraBook, so that my clients can complete intake forms online before their appointments, as well as request appointments and make payments. I utilize the credit/debit card function because TheraNest's processing fees are comparable or lower than other platforms. I can do everything I need through TheraNest! Lastly, their customer service is amazing. They are so friendly, knowledgeable and quick.

Pros

I love the ease of use, customer service, and all-inclusive features.

Cons

Pros: Easy to use once I adjusted to the system. For all questions regarding use and/or added features, customers service (Travis!) has been phenomenal!, quick responses and great support for a new business owner and a go at establishing a paper-less practice! Codes needed were able to be added. Billing is easy but done manually each session with each client for the end of month bill which is charged to the saved credit card (love this feature)! Billing is quick - takes about 1 minute per client, which is fantastic (since the leg work is done during each session). Price is extremely reasonable for my practice's current needs. Cons: More geared toward psych and less toward speech therapy. More geared toward a practice that is in an office and not one that travels to the client (but still making do and it's working well). Personally need info on the superbill to be included on an invoice (need more customizable invoice) for my families to submit to insurance on their own with all necessary practice and provider credentials included. Not able to select "community" for services provided have to create myself and manually add in but not listed as primary place of therapy for insurance purposes, even when it shows up somewhere on the superbill. Intake and other pages need to be more editable (eliminate suggested fields or add your own...and/or change the name of a field for a given practice) since all of the mental health fields are inappropriate for a pediatric SLP practice and prevents me from using half of the pre-made forms since I cannot send them to families with the data fields written on them as they currently exist. Overall impressions: This is a great product and the customer service is out of this world, phenomenal! There have already been tweaks to the program and new additions based on requests I have made so I plan to stick with as they are the best I have found and the most responsive! (the most reasonable $$ too).

I think the program is helpful but it comes with a lot of unwanted technical glitches that make it difficult to use. If they could resolve these issues I think it would be a great software.

Pros

I think this program is very helpful in providing templates for notes and the calendar is fairly easy to use.

Cons

When updates there can be a lot of unwanted technical glitches that create confusion and frustration for the user and the client. For example, you wind up with 5 appointments for the same service at the same time because it won't show that the appointment has stuck. You then have to cancel multiple appointments which is confusing to the client. Theranest has recently changed the name of my client.
