Pros: I love that they have free version that you can use and that you have an option to upgrade to a paid version.

Cons: I've used other CRM's that allow me to upload emails conversations. This really helps when you're updated your contacts and trying to remember where you left off with someone. Unfortunately, this feature was not available in Insightly.

Pros: Visually, this is a really great app. I liked that there was a really good way to keep track of a sales flow. Email tracking and templates. Great reporting capabilities. Expanded workflow management mobile apps.

Cons: Lead assignment rules only available to paid plans. No automatic email forwarding. Lead and contact information split into separate tabs. Pipelines not available for leads.

Overall: I like the free version.

Pros: EASY!! Lists my contacts in order of entry date. Lists my contacts based off of their category like contacted, not contacted, etc.

Cons: The categories are limited. If I convert to a lead, I don't have access to the contact along with the others.

Pros: I love how easy it was to get started and then get into the more advanced features. This has made it so much easier to follow up with leads and close more business.

Cons: I'm a big UX guy. It's not the most cheery interface. It's a tall order when you have so much data to manage. It's a small nag for so much power!

Pros: I like the functionality and ease of use. It's been a great tool for my team to use on projects (especially when working remote).

Cons: It would be nice if it could sync somewhat with other software or email template platforms. For example in the fitness world, there's some great platform / templates that Insightly doesn't offer.

Comments: Customer isn¿t first in a company who¿s software is made to focus on it. I feel betrayed as a customer.

Pros: It¿s pretty intuitive, one of the cheaper CRM options. Once you get inside the software it looks nice and professional.

Cons: They don¿t give you what they sell you, it¿s a bait and switch. They call it a ¿customer success program¿ instead of implementation because they literally do nothing for you. If you have plenty of time to watch countless YouTube videos and read articles, then it makes sense. However, if you¿re not told upfront in the sales process that there¿s no implementation, there¿s no importing databases for you, there¿s no connecting the networks, there¿s essentially a rep who points you to the right YouTube video once you have a question or an issue. Also I¿ve opened a support ticket to have help connecting our server since we switched IT teams, not only did they refuse to get on a call and pass me off to yet another `helpful link¿ but they suggested I paid for the next level ¿customer success rep¿ per year. So it¿s really a business model that is set up as sell as much as you can and automate everything so you never have support the customer afterwards. Good luck if you want to talk to a real person on the phone.

Comments: I'm going to start this out by saying that I am the CMO for a SaaS company; one that builds a retail CRM. I am imminently qualified to speak on this particular subject. I did not subscribe to Insightly in the interest of that company (another I own), but I am more acutely aware of the challenges that these companies face, than most. Because of that, I'm also more likely to be more forgiving, in the event of a bug. That said, this may be one of the worst customer experiences that I've had in years. We faced a problem with spam coming in through Insightly's web form (as implemented on our Word Press website). Now, spam is not Insightly's problem, yet they build a tool designed for the collection of customer data, so it's a problem they're bound to have some experiences with. Per the company documentation instructions, we set up Google's reCaptcha (as is part of our best practices for building any new site) for controlling the problem. It didn't seem to be working, though. After further investigation by both our internal front an back end developers, we discovered that Insightly was not sending our token to Google for approval. When confronted with this information, multiple Insightly staff parroted back to me that it essentially wasn't their problem. When we pointed our customer service rep, Dan, to the insight.ly article which said at the bottom that you can add reCAPTCHA to a page to stop spam submissions, and he looked at that and said, "Well... We never PROMISED it would work." Seriously? When I asked to have their engineers speak to my developers to attempt to figure out what was going on here, we more or less got more of the same, from several different customer service reps. When sent proof of the mistake, we were again told that it was not Insightly's problem. We weren't asking for much. Developers make mistakes. It's okay. It happens. It was the absolute refusal to deal with a verified issue with their system that really left a bad taste in our mouths. As of today, we are still waiting for a response. Am giving it 24 more hours and we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

Pros: Easy enough to use for small business owners, if you can see your way out of getting tons of unsolicited spam.

Cons: Responsive customer service that doesn't seem well informed to deal with anything beyond the most basic of questions.

Good, but not great.

Pros: Insightly was the first CRM I have ever used. It's is very simple to use and takes a few minutes to understand how it works, even for a unexperienced user.

Cons: Insightly lacks many features I found needed. The CRM is a bit slow, and can't be tweaked into a personal tailor-made CRM.

Pros: The ease of use means a short learning curve when introducing it to new staff members. I specifically like the integration with Gmail to be able to add relevant connections from email with one click.
Projects are a great way to track contacts and add comments and attachments to have all the relevant history of a specific project in one place.

Cons: It is very sales driven, and works for that capacity. I was using it as a non-profit, tracking volunteers and donors, and so I needed to "back door" some of the features to work for my uses.
I wish the tagging features had sub-tags to help sort a bit better without having so many top level groups of tags.

Overall: We were disorganized across a few methods of tracking individuals who engaged with our work. This helped us to centralize the information, and to function better as a staff. We did not need to re-invent the wheel with each new contact or program.

Pros: Insightly is a great contender in the small business CRM market. I had looked at many others (there are a TON of CRM out there), basing my criteria on integration with accounting software, ease of managing client information, and ease of managing client projects. Unfortunately, none of the CRM I looked at has strong integration into the accounting software that I ultimately went with. Insightly seems to have some great automation to help out with managing projects, but where it got beat out was the managing of client information. Since a lot of my business is conducted through social media, another software beat it in ease of integration with those applications.

Cons: As with some of my other reviews, I don't find much not to like with Insightly. It does what it does very well, it just isn't as integrated into social media as some of it's competitors. If I were doing less prospecting and research on clients- such as if I had a business where people were coming to me to get something made or repaired, then Insightly would be the winner. As it is, I spend most of my day finding prospects to put in the pipeline, and that would be more work with this product.

Overall: What I wanted to do would be more work in Insightly, but for a lot of businesses, this one is it.

Pros: Seems to be plenty of functionality. There is a lot of reporting features, you can find any name any time, whether it's a Lead or Contact.

Cons: I would like to see it pop up a calendar when I add a task to see if I'm colliding with another appt. Also, the app is not totally useless, but almost. I cannot send formatted emails from the mobile app. What good is it to get a lead when out of the office when you cannot send the proper response from your mobile device? Terrible. I know there are valued differences between Leads and Contacts, but to be honest I think it confuses the operator, me.

Gets the job done.

Pros: The best part of it is the integrations. The apps you can integrate with are perfect for the operations of a sales team, or any team! We used it with the staff at our church and it worked great! we had the free version for couple of years now until we upgraded. Truly it is a great app. Also it syncs with the iPhone app.
This is 100% recommended if you use Google suite.

Cons: The only Con is the price. For a small company maybe is ok with a few users. But medium companies maybe will struggle with that price per user. But if your sales can take it in, no problem. You have to really get all that you can get from the app.

Overall: Integration with other apps, including Quickbooks.

Pros: I really like Insightly as a budget option CRM for small businesses, and it's features have really grown over the years.

The pros:

Pricing - free option, can't beat that - the free option is good for up to 2 users, and 2500 contacts.

Very nice integration with Gmail and Chrome, that allows for a decent project management system to go.

Slack and Mailchimp integration for paid plans.

Segmentation and workflows for certain paid level plans.

It's definitely worth a look for smaller businesses.

Cons: Its simplicity is its drawback. For some, it will be too simple and too basic for more robust CRM needs.

Overall: Affordability is the name of the game. Also, the simplicity of the software makes it easy to train business owners and clients on utilizing the system (very intuitive for small CRM needs). Integration with gmail is a great feature for this audience as well.

Pros: This application is great at allowing me to manage a diverse range of tasks within my small business. The mobile and web applications are similar enough to make the transition between the two quite easy. I encourage many small businesses to leverage this application.

Comments: I would recommend finding a product that is more robust and has proper support. The investment of time in setting up any CRM system for your business means that you need to choose the right one from the start and with all of its technical glitches and lack of support, this is one the one i would recommend to anyone.

Pros: Relatively easy to use and covers most main functionality you would want in a basic CRM tool with a decent amount of integrations to common third party tools

Cons: Scratch beneath the surface of the functionality and you soon find that there are odd and annoying glitches in the way the functionality works and its not very intuitive. Also, some advertised functionality just doesn't work and support consists of email replied that just tell you they're working on the issue (I've had one for over 2 months and another for 6 weeks without resolution on pretty key functionality not working). Given the 'no refund' policy and unhelpful support it feels like a con.

Cons: Support is horrendous. They constantly make excuses and blame the end users.

They have serious server issues yet will not admit it. The site is ridiculously slow most of the time.

A new excuse they've started to use is that since they're a "startup" (they're not) they have limited resources.

They promise features that take forever to see the light of day and most will never be developed.

We switched to Zoho and couldn't be happier.

Pros: I like how robust this software is, its very complete woth pipelines lead managment. Round robin lead distribution is nice. Automation tools give you anlot of flexibility without having to rely on outside integrations like zapier. Zapier integration works nicely though it can do a lot.

Cons: the lead distribution is awesome, but only allows for round robin distribution of leads, it would be nice to see that change to some sort of ratio like 1:2, that sort of thing.

Pros: Easy to find videos on how to update/organize general sections. Everything is pretty self-explanatory so heavy training was not needed when I first joined the company using this CRM.

Cons: Slow and very unhelpful customer service. Extremely poor functionality, navigation, and organization. Many bugs.... Then a severe lack of help in fixing said bugs. There is no number to call, and if you need help you can only speak with a general customer support member by scheduling a call, and only after expressing dissatisfaction, you are never put in touch with the technical team. I don't have the time nor willingness to become Insightly's tester by constantly reporting new issues, which then are either slowly to never resolved. There have been so many issues since the March updates, our website and other tools don't function properly because fields were renamed. Renaming and deleting tags rarely works, or you have to do so a few times in order for it to stick. Writing notes or emails - you can't bold, italic, or cross out text nor backspace/delete normal (screenshots already provided). My manual labor has increased ridiculously, and frustrations rise every time a new bug is found since the old ones are still an issue. It's hard to create proper reports since contacts/opportunities are separate items. There is no one to call to walk you through something if needed. I understand the price is lower, but I don't feel my company gets what it pays for anymore thanks to all these issues. I'm an extremely frustrated user... who is losing customers and gaining a lot of work and headaches thanks to this CRM.

I'm sure the options expand as you go up in the service but at the very baseline it's pretty bare bones in what can be done. Overall it accomplishes what a basic CRM should do but, and rightfully so, as soon as you want a little more than basic functions you will be required to pay to upgrade.

Comments: I would recommend it for people who are not concerned about gmail integration.

Pros: Full featured CRM with a great custom visual pipeline creator. Easy to use Support team is responsive.

Cons: Linking emails to customer/event records is time consuming. When I used this software there was gmail plugin, so every time I got an email from a customer/prospect I would have to manually link it in order for it to be part of the records.

Pros: It is very easy to use. I self taught myself how to use it within a few days. I like the ability to link the CRM to your emails so that correspondence with clients is automatically added to their profile.

Cons: There really isn't anything I don't like. Perhaps the fact that you can't have groups of clients, but rather tags can get a little cumbersome.

Pros: This is my CRM, plus I can track leads, property inventory, offers & contract to close using completely customizable pipelines. I can set reminders to be emailed to me. Tasks can be generated automatically. Files & notes can be added, so everything concerning a property is easily accessible. Plus, multiple users can have access.

Cons: Once you set it up, it's very user friendly but it does take a small time commitment to customize it. It's worth the set up time because once it's in place, it's a time saver.

Overall: Better organization & information at my fingertips

Pros: Easy to use with a manageable learning curve. My wife and business partner who is not very technologically savvy was able to learn the core features very quickly. Excellent customer support and database of tutorial videos. Excellent integration with Gmail allowing one to seamlessly import emails into Insightly. Intuitive layout.

Cons: You have to save a profile that you are creating in order to add an image of the contact. Makes for an added step that when adding multiple contacts can take up a significant amount of time.

Overall: Helps us to better manage our business, from contacts to opportunities.

Pros: It's pretty simple to get started. The concepts are relatively straightforward and the interface is smooth, so getting your contacts entered (or even uploaded) is easy.

Cons: The icons can make differentiating between leads and contacts confusing. Maybe it's just me, and my lack of a sales background, but I frequently find myself incorrectly entering leads under contacts and vice versa.

Overall: Tracking the best opportunities to grow my business.

Pros: Insightly lets me know when I have a new customer to begin a relationship with immediately. This helps me to reach out and build rapport quickly. Strike while the iron is hot!

Cons: The organization of the different categories leaves me feeling disjointed at times. I would like to be able to see ALL information at a glance together.

Overall: It keeps me in contact with my customers. I can follow up with them and all activity is logged automatically. It makes keeping a record of my contacts easy!

Comments: Seems to be geared toward "groups, projects, events". I am a salesperson, not a member of a project.

Pros: I like the mobile accessibility. And the integration with Panda Docs- however not a perfect solution. When making multiple quotes, each one is titled by the name of the template- not the doc name so you could look at an opprotuity and see 4 different quotes all with the exact same name.

Cons: To hard to quickly get to where I need to be. Too many screens for the same thing i.e. lead, contact, organization, opportunity. And separate notes for each category. Email seems unreliable.

Comments: Free version worth trying out, if you're on the fence.

Pros: The price point was great for those starting out and not looking to invest in a lot of money upfront - I've used this with a couple different organizations, and have been happy with it on the startup side. It's fairly simple and intuitive to use - I love the tagging and cloud feature the most. Also, you can set alerts! Interface is "pretty" and features don't feel overwhelming.

Cons: The Reports can't be customized as much as we'd like. The simplicity is also it's weakness. It can have fairly basic features, and we've found that it's not robust enough for our organization as we've grown. It won't do everything you need (but it's hard to find a software that does!).

Comments: Insightly might offer the best bang for your buck when it comes to CRMs. The ease of use is great and the layout/design is very clean. I would mainly use the system for staying on top of tasks and project management. The only downside compared to other CRMs is the email function, which I found to be limited.

Pros: Easy to use, intuitive design, and the certain functions like the task list, calendar, and project management tools were top notch.

Cons: If you plan to do a lot of email marketing, this may not be the CRM for you. Email blasts were not really an option with Insightly.

Comments: We've been looking around for a new system for the past few months. Insighly has a lot of great features but we've run into way too many problems using it.

Pros: * CRM and project management together in the same application * Easy navigation between clients, leads, tasks, etc * User-friendly interface

Cons: Far too many features are missing and it seems like Insightly just isn't in a hurry to make the necessary features available such as: * Can't send HTML emails from within Insightly. It's 2016 -- HTML email has been around for a long time. It's so hard to believe that this isn't a priority for them. * Can't PRINT any of the data from within Insightly. This is a necessary feature for our company (and I'd think for ANY company). What good can our data do for our company if it can't be printed out? * There always seems to be some kind of bug with the Google calendar integration. Items appear as one date inside of Insightly and another date inside Google Calendar. * Cost of service is ridiculously overpriced when compared to the basic functionality that is missing. Cost of $35/month per user means that it could cost us $350/month to migrate our team to Insightly -- we simply CAN NOT JUSTIFY SPENDING $4200 per year on a system that isn't fully functional. * SLOW, SLOW, SLOW customer service / tech support. I reported an issue last September and I received a notification 7 months later that it has been resolved. Why do simple fixes take so long? * They do NOT listen to what their customers want and instead choose to roll out new "features" that no one was asking for in the first place. We want HTML email and we want to be able to PRINT. Why is that so hard to do?

Comments: I highly recommend Insightly for small to medium sized businesses. I first got to know Insightly several years ago. Our company was established but was doing business all around the country off of spreadsheets! We needed a CRM. We looked at several other options (including SalesForce), but Insightly was right for us. I'm with a new company now and within two months of my hire we ditched Infusionsoft and went with Insightly. Transferring the data from one database to this new one was easy for a non-tech person to do. A good mobile app that goes anywhere with you. Good report generating functions. Great tutorials and videos. It doesn't have all the advanced bells and whistles that some of the big programs have, that's not what these businesses needed.

Pros: Easy to learn and use. Has plug ins that are very helpful, we use it with MailChimp and QuickBooks Online. Very affordable and has lots of functionality. It helps us keep track of all we need to get done.

Cons: It takes a while to learn some of the more advanced features. Plug ins could be more seamless, but that will come in time, I'm sure!

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are a sole proprietorship or a start-up, get Insightly and get your stuff organized right from the start. It's super affordable for anyone on a budget. If you're a small to medium sized business that doesn't have a CRM or is underutilizing your CRM, consider moving to Insightly. It will be easy for all of your team to use, and when you become fabulously successful, it can grow with you. I've had no regrets with Insightly!

Pros: Tons of features like task assignments, activity sets for recurring actions, and gmail integration make this invaluable to us. Also, they have tons of video tutorials that are very well done.

Cons: We've been using Insightly for about 1.5 years now and I don't have any complaints.

Overall: We searched long and hard for a CRM that would help us organize and run more efficiently. I can't tell you how happy we are with Insightly. The workflow automation saves us untold hours. We use the Project and Task list extensively to keep our team on task and to keep from missing a single detail. I've referred Insightly to several other businesses who came to love it, too. If you're looking for a powerful CRM that won't break the bank, this is the one you want.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would definitely recommend this to any business looking for a powerful CRM.

Pros: It's ability to organize projects, assign tasks to people, and house all the information in one shareable place is useful. It also has the ability to take an email and make it a task.

Cons: It's useful but overall we found it wasn't "easy" enough to use and it wasn't adopted consistently among everyone in our Company.

Comments: I've used various other tools like Insightly and well, this is by far my favorite. It is so easy to use, has an attractive interface, and doesn't have too many complicated features. I would definitely say yes if anyone asked if they should use this tool.

Pros: So Simple! Your child could figure out how to use this tool after playing with it for 30 seconds. I love the fact that I can tie in emails to particular projects or clients. This helps me keep a database all within one place.

Cons: The sales side of things could use some spicing up. I'm coming from using Salesforce (Not a fair comparison) but I'm used to a much deeper and more intuitive process for my sales flow.

Comments: I have used Insightly for a few years in my coaching/consulting business. I find it very easy to use and quite flexible. I particularly like the fact that it works seamlessly with Google for Business. Insightly has a project/case management function which I use for direct coaching. Works very well and links with Google Docs. Every year or so I try other apps but I always decide to renew with Insightly.

Pros: A huge plus for me is the 'forced save'. When making notes, Insightly forces you to save the note before you can open another window. I work on the 'fly' and I can't tell you how many times I've lost notes because other apps allowed me to switch windows before saving. However, when you later want to 'add a comment' to a note, it is not auto-saved, so beware!

Cons: I've had a few issues around linking emails from Gmail. A bit confusing but not a deal breaker.

Recommendations to other buyers: This is a really solid app for small business.

Comments: We used this CRM for internal use as we organized and managed our client lists, projects, emails, and tasks. Our business is small but growing rapidly, and our client list grew exponentially within the last year - Insightly's system for tagging, it's icons, and it's organizational taxonomy was extremely helpful. That said, we didn't use all of its capabilities (like email blasts/templates), and I wish I'd been able to assign tasks to some of our other users. It felt a bit silo'd and secretive. We also had issues with privacy, as I, as the account holder, was able to see everything any other user could do - So our CEO chose to open a separate account in order to conduct his business sight-unseen. Turning off visibility would have been helpful, for efficiency's sake. The import/export list function for clients, etc. was far more helpful and effective than any other CRM we trialed. As long as our business is small, I'd use Insightly.

Comments: Our small agency needed a small CRM and Project Management support package so we went looking for a good fit. The person who chose Insightly did her due diligence in terms of functional comparison and interface design. The problem was that the person who selected Insightly had no experience with lead tracking or project management, let alone the software packages that save time and enable information sharing. Still, upon installation, the Insightly program did a fair job. Where there was friction and frustration was having to devote the time, and align our thinking with their software designers, to implement the software on different Windows platforms we had among our small team. (Our problem, we know.) While the newby on the team found she could use Insightly after some (time consuming) tutorial watching, the guy with more CRM, contact management and project management experience found Insightly to be less intuitive and more clunky when it came to smoothly integrating with Outlook, Google contacts and calendar. Take all of this with a grain of salt, please, because we loaded the free version. Still, before paying for any upgraded functionality, we are looking for a product that behaves as intuitively as it should it it was designed by busy agency professionals who need to switch functions on a dime, just after a client contact, or integrate easily with other packages.

Pros: Very simple, non-intimidating interface. Tries to be homey and welcoming to very small businesses. Earnest effort to serve up helpful hints. Looks like it doesn't require a lot of time to use.

Cons: Not particularly business-like, visually. Cutesy. Not as intuitive an interface as expected. Glyphs and symbols are not immediately intuitive. More clunky when it came to integrating with Outlook, Google contacts and calendar.

Recommendations to other buyers: IF you are a savvy software user, and you have per-user per-month fee to spend (which needs to be paid annually), then Insightly could be right for you. If you're looking to move into CRM/Project Management software for your small firm (1 or 2 users) and want to try before you buy, then plan to devote 6 - 18 hours on installation, tutorials and connectivity with other programs. Still, a pretty good deal IF you are savvy, patient and willing to spend the time. Remember, though, any CRM/Project Management software will require care, feeding and near constant use in order for it to work FOR you, rather than bog you down with data entry (which can seem to sap your energy and divert time away from more action-oriented tasks. That's going to be a challenge no matter which package you choose.

Pros: Free for small teams

Cons: Doesn't have lots of features.

Overall: Because we are a small team we use the free version of the software. Is helpful if you would like to organize yourself and offer a lot of integrations like Gmail but I believe that is missing some features to be a complete product and not make you jump from a solution to another. E.g. I wish to be clear when you add a partner and a client and have the options to add more info about them.

It sounds like you want to add some custom fields to Insightly. We do have that feature and here is more information on how to do that: https://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/articles/220776128-What-are-custom-fields- If this is not your request feel free to send an email to laura@insightly.com to see if Insightly can address your needs. Thanks

A nice start but needs some tweaking.

Comments: I really needed a way to synchronize all my events keep track of clients... Overall inslightly is okay and much better than nothing but I've had some problems. The first thing that surprised me was that the web based Inslightly calendar does not synchronize with Inslightly app. I had a big problem composing an email and clicking out of it to get information from the link then coming back to it and seeing that it was gone. There was no draft folder and no way to preserve what I had written so I had to start all over again. Very frustrating. I am also repeatedly having to log back in which is time-consuming and frustrating. On one occasion and I composed an email and sent it to my client only to find out that he received a blank email. Again, No drafts folder and no copy of the email I had composed, but I've watched it disappear.

Pros: I like being able to link events with clients.

Cons: I can't use the native contacts in Mac, I have to input new Contacts by hand. I would like to see you it synchronize better with calendar and other Apple related products. I also really don't like not being able to share calendars. My assistant can enter an event and I don't see it... What good is that?

Recommendations to other buyers: Get this if you have no budget but don't expected it to do everything you need.

Pros: Free and very easy to use

Cons: Lacking an email tracking process

Overall: We have been using Insightly for about a year. Its integration with gmail has been a big time saver and enhancement to our ability to track and respond to clients. It is easy to use and setup and its web based which means everyone has access to it and it requires no downloads or update on individual computers.

Recommendations to other buyers: We use Insightly and Hubspot together to fulfill our needs. Insightly as our main CRM and Hubspot to track emails. It takes a bit to get used to having them both in gmail, but it works well!

Comments: I settled on Insightly for client management after quite a lot of research. My criteria was cost, ease of use and features. I consider myself computer/software illiterate so simplicity was also important. After watching a few of Insightly's tutorials I was able to set up a system that works well for my small catering business. Their customer support site is very helpful.

Pros: Once you have figured out what you want to get out of Insightly and how it can help your business, there are many ways to customize it. Great search capability. Task function lets me know what I need to do, when I need to do it and how important it is.

Recommendations to other buyers: Find someone who is using Insightly and have them help you set it up. Watch the tutorials. Don't pay someone to set it up for you or you'll have a hard time making changes on your own.

Comments: I run a small consulting firm in Washington, DC that handles general management, communications and event services for nonprofit clients. I use every CRM imaginable for my clients including Salesforce, Abila, etc. but when looking for a CRM for my own small business, Insightly has it covered. It's a month to month service that integrates with both QuickBooks and MailChimp - two of my most used apps - and allows me the space to cultivate a small business customer list with all the convenience of more expensive and comprehensive tools.

Pros: No long term commitment or contract Lots of useful APIs Very intuitive for even novice users Offers project tracking Reports available for each module

Cons: Might be helpful to have a better idea of their partners and what APIs are available, like how Salesforce has its own app section.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you have a limited budget but lots of old business cards on your desk, if you're still keeping your contacts in a spreadsheet or if you just need a simple solution for tracking your contacts and projects - Insightly is a great provider at a reasonable cost with no long term commitment.

Pros: Good value for the money.

Comments: In general, the product is easy to learn and use. It has the potential to be great with just a few changes, but the programmers don't see the possibilities.

Pros: Great cost. Fairly powerful CRM system and reasonably intuitive to use.

Cons: Whenever you push events from your Google calendar to Insightly, the Insightly calendar makes it private with no display of time, so nobody else can see it. It just disappears for everyone else. Likewise, any event you put on Insightly marked private doesn't show on the calendar as busy. It just disappears for everyone else. So, this bug makes the calendar essentially useless for showing team member availability and for scheduling. It also prevents other scheduling app integrations from functioning properly. Tasks are simply Events that don't have a start and end time. Events should act just like Tasks and be reported the same way. A simple solution is to scrap Events altogether and simply take the code used to create beginning and ending times on Events and apply that to Tasks as an option. The Task reports and all its functionality are great. Events is a little better, but generally poor. It's not needed if the features of Events are simply added to Tasks. This would make managing tasks and events in projects incredibly easy and much better than now. Right now, you have to use another program to manage simple workflows because this is so inadequate and inflexible. To fix this and make it far better only requires a couple of simple tweaks. Project management is not great. They haven't figured out the advantages of drag and drop.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would definitely consider it as a strong possibility for your CRM. If you don't have heavy team coordination or project management needs, it will work well. Otherwise, you will be frustrated.

Comments: This is a product I wanted to like so much. We have been using Insightly for many years. We were attracted to it because it combined CRM and Project Management. Over the years they have improved the CRM aspect, but have left PM virtually untouched. Their support is haphazard and they often introduce new *features* which cause problems - like the day Google Contact Sync stopped working, or the day Google Contact Sync started duplicating contacts in Google etc. Because we signed up so long ago, we have an excellent pricing model. If we were paying more I would be really dissatisfied. Oh and they are just appalling at sharing their product roadmap. It's like driving a manual shift car as the mechanic is fitting new gears as you speed up.

Pros: Great CRM and Pipeline Management out the box! Contact Syncing for Google is great - despite minor issues. Good simple project lists. Links nicely to Mailchimp and Xero.

Cons: Very very poor project management. You will need to use other packages for almost anything. No resource management. No Gantt charts. No visibility. Email integration is rudimentary. Task integration is non-existent. No Office 365 contact synchronisation.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you want a good cheap CRM, look no further. If you want an integrated CRM/PM, it doesn't really deliver.

Comments: After using many CRM systems from Salesforce, Zoho, Apptivo, Pipeline Deals, Pipedrive, Base CRM and more, Insightly is a 'breath of fresh air' (even though that is getting a bit stale lately - more on that shorty). Frankly, after looking at many of these systems, I was tempted to design and create my own system (I have been a software engineer for 30 years and own a software development firm as one of my companies). Yet I decided to give Insightly the last shot. It works great - almost the way I would have designed. There are some weaknesses as well, most of all the lack of the support teams response to multiple request of the same kind and promising future fixes that 'are just not coming'. That all said, Insightly is well rounded, has lots of integration options and works very well for most CRM needs, especially around customer service, contacting, tracking and task planing. Even light weight project management is included in 2 different forms - pipelines or more traditional but more complicated to use project management optionsl

Pros: Here are just a few pros: * Easy to use and learn * Integrated Light Weight Project Management * Fast Response * Great note taking * Easy task tracking * Great for sales cycles and customer service alike * Useful Integrations * Better User Interface than most (every tried Salesforce and couldn't find anything?)

Cons: A couple of Cons: * Service - The guys and gals at Insightly need to learn to listen and pass information 'up the management chain' * Task and Event Handling need improvement as reported by many clients * Need fully functional 2-way sync with Google Calendar * Need real workflow functionality instead of clunky Project Management (to their defense, lots of systems 'miss this one')

Recommendations to other buyers: Though there are some negative, I would say this is the best of the pack and relatively in-expensive for all you get. I would make looking at Insightly seriously a must for anybody wanting a flexible and easy to use CRM - that is from small to medium size businesses.

Comments: On a modest budget and with very limited knowledge of CRM software, I recently trailed SalesforceIQ to use as my first CRM software for my small skills training business where I handle client inquiries, registrations, invoicing via QB online and other case management activities. For salesforce to do what I wanted it to, I would have needed to go beyond the 'out-of-the-box' version which was way beyond my price range. I looked into Insightly which offers both client tracking and project management. I have been so happy with the ease-of-use of this software and the ways that I can customize my use of it with the smark project management aspects which I can link to contacts and leads easily to keep track of waitlists for upcoming training blocks. Although Insightly requires me to use a link when emailing clients outside of insightly to sync these correspondences (unlike Salesforce which does this automatically for you), I actually prefer this method which gives me an extra layer of assurance that my practices are following more stringent privacy standards - I also turned off the auto-search social profiles function to remain compliant with my privacy policies (no-one consented to that and I don't need to collect that info). I am still working on making the interface seamless for what I want it to do, but it is already saving me so much time and stress in keeping track of all my leads and no missing out on potential business. I love the email templates as well! Worth every penny!

For example, my company logo didn't show up at all in any of the emails that got sent out. Their analytics is also poor. Insightly handles these in a straightforward, easy to use and easy to implement manner. We also believe the learning curve is manageable and that Insightly is a cost effective choice for basic CRM. We use both the desktop and mobile applications of Insightly. We recognize that Insightly has additional functionality that we may decide to begin using in the future as our CRM efforts mature.

Cons: We investigated a number of CRM applications in our process of choosing Insightly. We did not find any glaring omissions or show stoppers with the Insightly application.

Recommendations to other buyers: Determine your highest priority applications and evaluate the software to meet your specific needs. Comments: Google Sync does not work for events. If you enable it historic events disappear from insightly. If you need to know who attended events (meetings, seminars, courses, etc) in the past then this is pretty serious. We've reported it to support and they've told us it has been fixed twice. It has not. You can also not export / import events records. We also find insightly slow to load. This is presumably because we are based in the UK.

Pros: It's relatively easy to use and good if you are a startup / small uncomplicated business. The google mail integration and auto contact creation is a real time saver.

Cons: Google Sync does not work as advertised. You cannot export / import event data. Insightly feels slow. Expensive for what you get.

Recommendations to other buyers: Insightly is a good place to start but if you might outgrow it in 12 months or so.

Insightly enabled us to have a custom CRM and project management system all in one, for a 20th of the cost as other systems. We are learning things all the time and continually improving our process. Pros: Easily adaptable workflows, and the tags make it easy to sort through all the data. For us the tags are amazing as we can sort through our hundreds of volunteers by skill and location, to quickly and easily assign to projects.

Cons: I wish the reporting features where as intuitive as the rest of the app.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try 1 user first to see if it's right for you. Don't get all of your users on the system until you know that it is exactly what you want.

Customer Support

Comments: I opened a customer service ticket on May 12th regarding problems I'm having getting Insightly to import new contacts from my Google address book. The problem is still unresolved, and I haven't heard a word from their customer service since June 9th despite repeated emails to them.
