Software Developer Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "A Deluge Of Opportunities" July 1, 2020 5.0 recommendations have pulled in a number of interviews, and, in the years I've been using it, it has landed me a couple of jobs. Pros sends me emails with half a dozen or more jobs every day. It does a pretty good at filtering them for the skills found in my resume as well as those specified explicitly on their site. Of course, automated filtering will produce false positives, but I would say ZipRecruiter has a rate of less than 10%. Cons has a virtual 'recruiter' that appears as the sender of the job listings. Those from that source are particularly poorly filtered. Also, at first this feature gave me the idea that an actual person was working for me, but the feature became clear after a few instances. The monthly subscription was pretty steep. Pros I liked that has one of the highest reaches in regards to talent acquisition. I received many applicants. Cons However, the applicants I received were not correlated with what I was looking for. And so I feel the platform when for quantity over quality. There is a skills section within the job ad, this has a matching technology and this field is a very important part of the process, my recommendation would be to add very specific skill words that match the job title so the algorithm will work in your favor. It just may not work in our area or our industry. Pros was easy to setup for what we needed in a potential team member. It also recommended some candidates in our area that may be a good fit for the position. Cons Our biggest problem with is that it did not give us a lot of candidates that we could look over to determine if we would want to interview them for our position. We had to use other recruiting sites for our hiring process. Every time we have had to use ZipRecruiter we end up hiring from a different online service. Reason for choosing ZipRecruiter We heard their ads on podcasts and wanted to see if they could help us find a better candidate for our positions. Pros What's really nice about is you can customize what talent you are looking for and let the resumes come to you. If you need help just chat or speak with your rep and they'll help you out. Our company is a small business and a hustling place and we don't have an on-staff HR person to help with the recruiting so ZipRecruiter made it possible to search, and have the resumes with what we were looking for come directly to me! Cons You still have to put in leg work to interview and review resumes and it is a bit pricy for a small business. Overall we have been pleased and will continue with this. Pros The process for ZR is pretty straightforward... load the job and this goes out to many different sites. This is a benefit as sometimes we do not know where we want to advertise. The process is simple to follow to load an advertisement as we usually copy from the job description and modify accordingly. Cost is a good point with ZR as you can get a bundle that you can use any way you want. This is helpful for costing and tracking Cons The flip side of sending out ads to sites we may not be aware of is that we don't really know where the ads are going. We trust it is getting out, but that isn't the fault of the software, but of their marketing perhaps. It wants to compete with Indeed, CareerBuilder, and probably LinkedIn, but the proof is in the pudding... we don't have as many resumes from ZR as other sources. However, the VALUE may not be that different as we do not pay much for this either. Its effortless, convenient and you can apply to jobs with the literal click of the button. Its genius. Pros I love this software because it is by far the easiest job search tool I have ever used. They will send you text messages of job openings and all you have to do is respond to reply. The best part is it is specifically catered to you and what you want so it doesn't waste your time. I have gotten multiple interviews of jobs I have applied to as well as recruiters reaching out to me. Cons The only dislike I have is occasionally I will get sent job offers that arent what the description says but that's more so the recruiter providing inaccurate information. Having the ability to input information and have a software generate potential job matches for you is a great resource to have and makes the process more friendly and efficient. The live notifications about when your resume or application is being reviewed by a recruiter or a hiring manager is functional and helps you put your mind at ease! Pros is one of the easiest platforms to use to help you browse and post employment opportunities. The design of the landing page is easy to navigate, making the process smooth. It also allows you to chat with a recruiter, which is an awesome perk to have as a job seeker. Many career websites do not have this option. Another great option that is accurate based on the information inputted by a job seeker is the customized jobs tab-specific to each person's skills and career interests. Overall, this is an awesome platform! Cons The software is great. The only downside to is that sometimes it has old job postings that are expired. The company needs to do a better job at ensuring that the job postings are active and not filled to prevent candidates from wasting time on job applications. Account Manager Events Services Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Has so much potential, but ultimately falls short" November 21, 2019 3.0 Was really excited at first for all of the features and differences compared to other job sites, but despite having options to customize your search, it doesn't really work. There are way too many entry level positions listed, which of course are great for some people, but for those looking beyond, it is impossible to filter through it all. Not a single application I submitted produced any sort of communication with a potential employer. Pros Ability to let an employer know you're super interested. Frequent emails regarding new opportunities. The ability to see if/when an employer reviews your resume. No real application necessary to fill out, mainly just submit your resume. Cons Too many roles advertised or sent to you that are well below what you are looking for. There is a button in emails that you can press saying it isn't the right role for you for various reasons, including low pay, etc. but you still continue to get emails about roles of the same caliber. If you look at one position that is in a different location than where you are primarily searching, you all of a sudden get all sorts of roles in that location. And even if you try to unsubscribe for that location, you still get them. Too many job postings do not have links to the actual listing. The free trial is false advertising. The vibe they gave off was they just want your money and have no interest in helping you find candidates. Pros Good concept to have an all in one location to access applicants but needs work. Cons Inflated pricing and false advertising. The free trial is misleading. It's takes a day to get you set up and have access to your applicants. If you don't get set up within the time frame you get locked out of your account with no access to the applicants that already applied during your free trial. Then they make you pay hundreds of dollars to continue using the software. Don't bother using if you're a small business, they target large corporations that can afford to spend hundreds and even thousands on recruiting an employee. Definitely NOT beneficial for retail recruiters. You're better off using Indeed or Craigslist. It serves its intended purpose, though it doesn’t seem to take the user experience into account. If you like a lot of follow up emails, this is the app for you. Cons There are some really great apps out there for employers and job seekers. Unfortunately, this is not one of the best. The main letdown is the lack of a remote job search parameter. Almost every other major app of this variety has adapted to a remote hiring climate. The jobs are generally less appealing/fitting but you will receive tons and tons of emails about them. Its fantastic! Pros The ability to customize your job search is paramount when looking to maximize your results. returns the highest number of quality job postings of any of the sites I've used. I'm looking for a new career so I've used a lot of them. Cons The only Con I can list is that you may receive jobs you are not interested in. This is part of the customizable nature of the software though as it allows you to ask why you are receiving this job notification or deny it all together. The site then adjusts its search parameters so you no longer receive those types of job notifications.
