### "Not Simple at all and not worth the time or money"

It was horrible. I lost an entire year of income trying to figure out the billing features. I had two other colleagues who had the same experience I did and they left simple practice as well.

Pros

In theory the features that simple practice offers are great. You can schedule patients, use it for med records, and billing.

Cons

Using the features is impossible! I had simple practice for several years and the billing was always messed up, plus it’s very expensive if you have a certain number of claims. If a patient has multiple coverages it is very hard to manage. I could never use the invoices feature because the billing was always incorrect which made the invoices all incorrect. The documents and forms were too difficult to figure out. The only feature that worked well and was easy to use was scheduling. I finally found a different software that was much easier.

### "Luminello review "

The Luminello customer support is great.

Pros

The price point is great for all of the features. The ERx is reliable and fairly easy to use.

Cons

The ERx does have a lot of reminders when prescribing. (Takes 3-4 clicks just to get to the point you can enter your password to prescribe. The scheduler would be great if the feature of no show protection was there. Otherwise it isn’t super useable for clients to self schedule for my type of practice.

### "Simple Practice has been great in helping me to start up my private practice! "

Everything I need to jump start my private practice! I am able to communicate with my patients via the patient portal without difficulty. All documents can be sent and received via the portal, which is amazing! The software is so easy to use and the updates with the software, teaching videos, etc. are excellent tools!

Pros

It has everything that I need to start my practice. I love it's simple use quality and the fact that I am able to have potential new patients to schedule from my website with booking widget and have existing patients receive all necessary documents via the patient portal. I also love that I can securely communicate with patients via the secure messaging system!

Cons

This software would be absolutely perfect if we could better edit (choose font, bold, italicize, etc.) practice documents such as policies and note templates, including the ability to have our business logo show up on these documents as well (because they show up on some documents such as therapy notes and some bills). The ability to e-prescribe and to receive referrals and send referrals to other health professionals would be the absolute best and Simple Practice would have a life long customer in me!

It really only takes one word to describe SimplePractice.....Simple.

Pros

SimplePractice, was, well...Simple. It made billing a breeze, always quality video with clients. My provider always used SimplePractice and swore by it. Given the opportunity, I would switch back to SimplePractice if needed. SimplePractice customer service team is by far, the most pleasant customer service experiences I have had in the health field so far. Keep up your improvements SimplePractice, hope to see you again soon!

Cons

There is quite literally 2 things that, were not even bad, they just didn't favor our practice our how our clients liked things. The first, was SimplePractice did away with the client portal needing a password. Very secure, but clients were used to the brick and mortar way of entering your username and password. The second, the roles are very strict to keep client documentation private. In normal situations, that's normal, and honestly, commendable. But, again, our practice needed something a little bit more "group" oriented, where clients can interact with other people in our practice who play different roles in our clients lives. So, if it wasn't for my opinion, SimplePractice could err on the side of perfection.

Pros

I love that this program seeks to fully integrate different aspects of the job that I do. The software itself, is fairly easy to use. I appreciate that it's integrated into appointment reminders and billing, I so far have had no issues with the processing of my payments, which makes things very easy for me. I love that I can send my clients electronic intake paperwork as well as assessment forms and screening forms. I appreciated that it has a phone application to use as well.

Cons

Creating screening and assessment forms is arduous as you must create it line by line and can't duplicate previous response answers, like you can in survey monkey. It also would be nice if it tabulated numerical responses and created graphs so that I could see where clients fall in terms of normative symptoms and could send them the image in graph form. I realize that this is advanced, however, I would pay more for that kind of a function. The phone app is not intuitive at all. It also doesn't offer very many options. I use advanced MD as well and their phone application is amazing, actually better than their desktop version, in terms of ease of use and all of the options that are comparable to the desktop version. I wish that the simple practice would offer integrated faxing so that I could easily receive client records and send them. It just seems like that would go hand-in-hand with providing a record service and so I am bothered that I have to purchase additional services from someone else and create more work and activity in handling multiple systems. I also don't appreciate that I just barely signed up for the program and after one month I was notified that there is an increase in price. Furthermore, I'm disabled and struggle to use my wrists and so I use Dragon software to dictate and the program is not compatible with my software, and so I have to use Microsoft voice recognition software which is less accurate and harder to work with.

Pros

I'm a new Simple Practice user, but not new to using electronic health records for my private practice. I made the decision to switch to Simple Practice from my previous software to allow me to access my records from any device. I now have a virtual presence for the first time in my work, so having this type of access, in a HIPAA compliant format, is crucial. I love how user-friendly the software is and found I was able to migrate all the data from my previous software in a relatively short amount of time. My clients have provided positive feedback about getting automated appointment reminders, automated billing / payment options, and a dedicated client portal. I look forward to using the billing functionality in the near future.

Cons

I'm new to cloud-based software so I am concerned about all of my practice information existing in the cloud only. There was no clear information in the portal for how to go about backing up data to your own hard drive but I was able to contact support and learn the necessary steps to complete a backup through a Data Export function. Also, insurance companies who require electronic billing (such as Medicare) require an account ID to be assigned to the client record. Simple Practice software does not automatically do this (my other software did) and therefore the practitioner has to manually create a system and assign one and then attach it as sticky note in the client record.

### "Great Product"

Having just graduated and began my professional endeavors, I have not had a lot of EHR experience. That I used in internship was very unfriendly for the user and I was not impressed. I came across SimplePractice, took it for a spin and was enthralled with the ease of the software program and the willingness of the team to help. I have attended several classes thus far and I am going to use my one-on-one soon. I look forward to this program being a part of my success.

Pros

There are so many things I like about this software...the ease to use, the ability to incorporate my needs (forms, documents), great support, the telehealth option, the messaging section...with just beginning in the mental health profession, this software makes it super easy to work on being successful.

Cons

If I had to pick a con, it would be that client's can not attach documents in the portal. For example, I send out homework on a word document, but they cannot complete it and send it back through the portal. Though I call this a con, what is great about the SimplePractice team, is that they are continually working to make the software better and more user friendly. They are working on this concern as I type. So, that is why I have a hard time picking out a con...the team is here to make the process easier and more efficient.

I love the features and integrations that SimplePractice provides when using medical software for the first time. I was not overwhelmed when I first used it, it was very easy to adapt and play with.

Pros

I love how simple and easy to use the software is for new mental health professionals adapting to the business management side of mental health services.

Cons

Billing can be a hassle sometimes if you are just starting off and unfamiliar with the process. Also, reminders can be a little overwhelming, there needs to be a more consistent structure.

In my experience, SP makes it impossible to cancel your subscription, which in my opinion and experience feels intentional. They hold onto your business by making it very difficult to terminate because their “product” is substandard. The platform is awful. In no way is Simple Practice simple to use. But it sure is simple for them to continue use to collect your money every month. I had to reach out to their bots for help which was not helpful either. As I write this review, I’m unable to end my subscription and will be forced to pay another month for a service I do not use anymore. No other choice but to take legal action.

Our recent pricing change was unrelated to a management change. When changing our pricing, we conducted extensive research on how to charge customers at a rate that was commiserate with the services we provide and the labor it requires. We also conducted research on the necessary features and most utilized functions and segmented that data based on the stage of private practice the customer was in: how long they'd been in private practice, if they were a solo-practitioner, small group, large group practice, client case load etc. We've tailored 3 distinct plans to better fit the stages our customers' private practice journey - including an affordable Starter plan. We added many new, highly requested, features in 2021, and extended options for customer support. We appreciate your feedback as we continue to build our product and introduce more customization in our subscription plans in the future.

### "My Simple Practice Review"

My experience is mixed (but I realize change can be challenging, so I am hopeful that once I have practiced and become functional with Simple Practice, my experience will become more positive. I do wish there was "live" help.

Pros

I can edit/use my own forms (intake or progress notes), the Wiley treatment planner for use (and free) and they do not charge for reminders. The Client Portal is very functional (can send documents etc) and I appreciate the client messaging capability, and the time I will save when I get a new client, by SP automatically sending the intake form, consent forms etc.

Cons

I do not like that customer service is not live, or offer "chat." While once I am up and running, I will probably not need any help, but I am currently having to wait to obtain an answer to a VERY IMPORTANT question...i.e. "how do I upload my completed switch template since I had deleted the Johnny Appleseed client before I realized how vital that profile was to my getting started! That is very frustrating. I find that on some forms, I have to manually enter information where a drop down window would suffice. I find that the calendar is a little bit too basic (while this may just be beginner unfamiliarity) compared to Therapy Notes, making an appt in SP is a bit more clunky. I wish that while creating a new form, there was a way to "save" and "edit" a form at a later time. I wish I could use Square instead of Stripe for credit/debit card services (less expensive) While SP has a question/answer customer support, it seems very rarely do my questions have answers to them, which is very frustrating.

This software is fairly easy to use and makes tracking income, clients, document access through the portal and scheduling much easier and streamlined which saves me time and money.

Cons

There are many features I do not need or use however I still pay for them. Also the Stripe fees for credit card processing take a huge chunk of the client's fees that I do not get even though I earned the money.

I will be the first to admit that the administrative side of running a psychtherapy office isn't what nourishes me most - it's the relationships with my clients and colleagues that sustain and inspire me. That said, I realize that the administrative aspect of my business is central to building a successful practice so that I can continue to do the work that I love. Finding a practice management system that is effective and intuitive, and built for mental health therapists, has been a game changer. I knew I would find the right system, eventually. SimplePractice fit the bill. What came as a surprise is the quality of the relationships that I'd build with the customer support professionals at SimplePractice. When getting started, I reached out to customer support about various aspects related to enrollment and billing of Medicare. I had a unique-ish circumstance with my enrollment due to address changes. I had spent a significant amount of time on the phone with Medicare and got as far as I could with them. I reached out to SimplePractice support by email (there's no phone number!) and admittedly, I thought I'd never hear back - that feeling of sending an email out into the universe to float around forever. I had not even registered for SP, yet. Well, I had a response within 1 day. The responder was encouraging, informed, concise and kind (remember I'm all about the relationship). In some ways, I couldn't believe how simple he made it for me, so I clarified with him 2 times! In each rresponse, he remained professional, encouraging, and helpful. It was a dream come true. A technology for therapists that thrive in relationships. A responder that spoke a technology language that I understood. Someone that wanted me to be successful in building my management system. In this age of nameless, faceless interactions, I really felt like "Will" was there to not just answer a question, but to help me be successful in my business.

Pros

Responsive customer support. Appointment reminders . Client portal for intake paperwork and billing. Nice visual interface. Intuitive. Built in credit card processing. Intake paperwork forms that are built for therapy offices.

### "Perfect for my practice"

Overall, I am very happy with SimplePractice. It makes so many aspects of my workflow streamlined and easy, and it's hard to imagine operating my practice without this software.

Pros

I love that I can do everything I need to do for my sole-practitioner private practice. I use SP for my scheduling, note-writing, billing, credit card processing, and client records. Electronic intake forms were easy to create and customize, and I was able to easily create alternate forms for special populations. I've been pleased and impressed with customer service and their responsiveness to community concerns, such as changing how they ask about sex and gender on the standard demographic form.

Cons

There are a few quirks here and there, such as difficulty editing questions in my intake form. I can edit them, but the cursor goes to the end when I try to type in the middle of an existing question, so the only way I've found to edit is to delete from the end and retype. I run into bugs like this on occasion, but none of them have gotten in the way of my functionality. I also don't like that if you enable the option to have clients input credit card information when they complete online paperwork, it makes this information mandatory. I'd love there to be an option where I can allow my clients to input a credit card if they choose to pay in this way, but allows this to skip it, as well. (And I realize that this isn't a problem for many people, as many therapists prefer to require clients to have a credit card on file.)

I researched several of the most prominent electronic records software programs for therapists, and chose SP based on online reviews and discussions with colleagues. I'm glad I did!

Overall I am finding using simple practice to be very helpful and useful and has been easily accessible for my client's as well. It is easy and convenient to use.

Pros

I like how easy and convenient it is to use the software on any laptop and being able to have access to it on a smartphone device. I like that you are able to add your own documents for client use and/or viewing and not required to only use the templates provided. I enjoy having access to several assessment screening tools handy. Creating notes and treatment plans are very simple. I am transitioning from paper charts to electronic EHR and the switchover seemed to be pretty simple and not too time consuming. At the beginning of familiarizing myself with Simple Practice I had to contact customer support a couple times and the response time was a quick turnaround and they were able to guide me in taking the steps to resolve the issues I needed help with. Using the community support has several topics that are useful and helpful.

Cons

I dislike that there are no fillable forms available currently for clients to fill out. I am hoping in the future there will be access to fillable forms. The calendar view would be nice to have the option to mark only showing by the hour when adding new appointments in instead of breaking down or scrolling through minute by minute.

Overall would recommend.

Pros

Overall great software. User friendly. Easy to customize templates and auto emails and appointment reminders. Adding new clients and insurance is simple. Allows for billing within EMR. Enjoy the FREE appointment reminders, patient portal access, auto generating billing.

Cons

As a insurance and Medicaid private practice this EMR does not offer everything I need. I need to be able to have clients sign treatment plans and there is no customization to the treatment plan. Work around: you have to create a nonbillabke treatment plan code, create an appointment, create an progress note template with a space for sig, save and lock note. Print for patient sit. A lot of work but possible. Additionally, the diagnosis import is great but does not allow you to add specifiers. Therefore if you need one you must omit diagnosis and create a place on your progress note template for this info. It does not import client insurance ID info, which is required on all Medicaid docs. You have to create a spot on template and then leave the note to access this info. And while the templates are easy to customize with a lot of features, moving items into a different order is very time consuming. Other major drawback, it does not allow you to customize the billing administrator privileges. In order to allow billing to access everything they must be marked as clinician which requires significant upcharge.

### "Simple Practice for Speech Therapy Practice"

Overall we are happy with Simple Practice for our speech therapy practice.

Pros

Simple Practice is consistently reaching out to customers to learn how they can improve. Their process has become easier in the time that we have been with them and I expect that they'll continue to improve. I love that our speech therapists can be easily linked to cases with intake paperwork and notes in one centralized place.

Cons

Simple Practice needs to improve their online booking system. The calendar works well in house but the client facing booking features are very confusing. While Simple Practice customer service is great with non-urgent questions, it is frustrating that they do not have a phone number or chat feature for those times when we need a question answered right away.

Pros

There are so many aspects about Luminello that are amazing! Here are a few: - I really appreciate it that it was built by a psychiatrist for mental health providers -- you can tell that it was made with the user in mind - They have responsive, friendly customer support - It has affordable plans, starting with free! - They have E-prescribing, including controlled substances - They have custom note templates and questionnaires that really allow me to personalize my practice - The scheduling, including online booking, makes it easy to keep track of all my appointments - The portal with electronic documents and payments cuts the amount of time I spend on the admin side of my practice in half. - The secure messaging feature resolves all of my confidentiality concerns and makes it easy to communicate with clients.

Cons

There are few downsides to Luminello. They are a newer EHR, but have already exceeded some other ones that I have tried that have been around longer. Any time there has been a suggestion for improvement, they have listened and are constantly rolling out new features that make Luminello get better and better! At this point, I feel like they already have every feature I need to have the most efficient practice, but I know there is still more to come and I can't wait to see!

Pros

Well designed and, for the most part, easy to use. Features have grown over the years, which is nice, but also make the software sometimes more difficult to use. It is a common trade-off, i.e. ease of use versus full functionality.

Cons

Very occasionally I submit a ticket for an unresolved question I have. A couple times the responses to my ticket insufficient or written using a canned reply, as if my ticket had not been fully read or my issue not fully considered. Recently I submitted a ticket with a question about the new plan tiers. I had not gotten any response despite submitting the question twice.
