Pros

I love all that I can do with Simple Practice. I was looking for a service that can house my client documents for my in-person private practice, teletherapy practice, and coaching business all in one. It makes the onboarding/intake process for new clients so streamlined and easy. It's so nice to have one less thing to worry about as a new small business owner. Customer support has been excellent. It feels great knowing I'll have help if I need it for something so essential to my business.

Cons

Sometimes it's not that simple to use! But I think it speaks more to the breadth of options available than to the software itself. There's so much I could do with it, at times it is overwhelming.

I really like the ease of use of this platform is also outstanding and being able to navigate through the different functions is very easy. They even gave me some initial training to help me get familiar with all the features.

Pros

I am delighted that the automatic appointment reminders have significantly reduced no-shows, allowing me to keep a much more organized schedule.

Cons

Well I wish I could have more flexibility to customize them to my specific practice needs which would allow me to be even more efficient in my daily work.

Pros

The simple, intuitive design and customization to the specific needs of mental health professionals is what attracted me to Luminello. Having ALL the features and services in one place is tremendously helpful. I use the ability to clone notes, use templates, send ratings scales, exchange secure email messages with patients (almost eliminating phone calls), patient self-scheduling of appointments (and cancelation and rescheduling if needed), automated appointment reminders to patients, patients getting their own receipts and statements, e-prescribing (from anywhere where I have internet access, even from 30,000 feet in the air), billing, credit card processing, etc, etc. If it were not for Luminello, I would have to either hire an assistant or spend a lot of my time dealing with all these administrative tasks.

Cons

They are constantly improving and are adding e-labs as well. I wish they would add e-fax in the future. That is the only feature that I need but Luminello doesn't have yet within the software.

Overall, I am impressed and very satisfied with our Simple Practice subscription!

Pros

We have moved from an accounting software, Google Calendar and a person to do the medical billing with Simple Practice. I love the relative ease of the software and the fact that I can have everything in one place. There is great support and documentation for self-help. We are a practice with only one practitioner but we are growing in leaps and bounds! Simple Practice is making our growth so much easier!

Cons

There are some small issues that I have experienced. The biggest issue was the sight being down one morning and not being able to access the calendar or any of our client information. We are still using Google Calendar as well since we are less than a month in for our transition so I was able to see the information. There was no way to contact Simple Practice by phone and the entire site was down. I had no way of knowing how long the downtime would be. I would have liked to have been able to get an update since we were seeing clients. The only other issues are minor conveniences. Color coding on the calendar for different types of clients would be helpful. A full screen version of the calendar rather than the nested calendar would be nice. Customized reports would also be helpful. I would also love a support option that allowed for East Coast offices when we open.

### "It gets pretty costly"

Overall my experience with Simple Practice is positive, its just getting too expensive.

Pros

I like the fact that we no longer have to have paper files, ease of use overall and some of the features like appointment reminders, the ability to create and add your own documents. I also like the different templates already contained in the system. I have tried 3 other systems and will admit Simple Practice is my favorite.

Cons

Unfortunately it looks like i'm going to have to switch systems because it is just getting to costly. There appears to be no cap on price. My practice is growing and so is my bill with Simple practice. I don't like that I have to pay for administrators and interns. There are no hands on tutorial options only videos. I also would like the Wiley feature to be more user friendly and make better use of this resource. It is somewhat confusing as it is currently.

### "Luminello makes life easy"

Overall the Luminello experience has been positive. Not only is Luminello easy to use, but their customer support is top notch and easily accessible. If at anytime you have a problem or question, someone is always there to assist. Onboarding was a cinch as well with customer service at your fingertips.

Pros

The feature that I liked most about Luminello were the assessment tools.

Cons

I would appreciate if they could make encrypted transmission of documentation to outside sources.

I can't put into words how excited I am about using Simple Practice for my therapy business. It couldn't be more perfectly named, it makes the business side of running a private practice so simple! I am not someone that is highly computer literate, but the software is so self-explanatory and the prompts are so informative, I was able to get up and running in no time. The practical components of this software from client email and text reminders, scheduling reminders on my phone, insurance billing, and having a virtual filing cabinet on my computer and phone are amazing.

Pros

1\. The ease with which I'm able to navigate the site, utilize the software, and the prompts to help me out. 2. How easily you can undo a mistake if one is made. 3. Being able to send clients email and text reminders about our appointment time. 4. Being able to create invoices, track billing, and use of the Simple Practice android application.

Cons

I have been using this software for over a month now and have not found any cons with it yet.

The program is saving me many many hours of work daily and monthly by creating and distributing superbills and invoices.

Pros

I really liked how customizable the intake forms and progress notes are, as my focus is not a standard therapy practice. Scheduling is easy, and the client portal makes intakes very easy.

Cons

I work with children, so all my clients are minors. However, I wasn't able to address emails to the parents/guardians, or have them listed on superbills to receive the reimbursement. When a client is listed as a minor, I would prefer for the parent/guardian to be the person contacted and listed (as I work with infants and very young children)

I tried a number of different software platforms, and was the most comprehensive and easy to use.

Pros

The Calendar is easy to use and the Client Portal is very convenient for clients to complete paperwork.

Cons

The Video Telehealth option did not include key features and was expensive and nagivation of creating forms was difficult

Pros

It is somewhat intuitive and it looks good, welcoming. I also like having the app for my phone. We like that you can schedule clients for repeating sessions two and three weeks between sessions regularly. The client portal is needed. We really like being able to do our intake packets online, and that we can change them up so easily. Love how when clients fill these out they are seamlessly put into cleint files and this shows in the client info.

Cons

The couple set up is terrible. And we are a couples counseling group practice. I can't even get each partner's phone number or email without going into two separate files. If I link them - find a way for me to contact both of them by seeing both of their contact info together. Also when i look thru my client list, it far too difficult to find my couples. If i mark them as couples and link them, let them show as couples in the client list. Many couples aren't married and do not have the same last name. It's just too hard to find them and to send both partners text messages or emails. I don't like texting or emailing individual partners - I need to send info to both at the same time. Very difficult to do presently. By far the worst part of all of our experiences (8 of us) has been customer service. We need to talk or chat online to people that can help, not wait a full day or two to hear back. It's archaic. At least open up live chat asap!!!

Makes signing documents and scheduling appointments very easy and straightforward. I can easily see all of my bills and claims, as well as HIPAA releases I've signed.

Cons

The billing and documents section can sometimes group multiple claims together which can be confusing.

Pros

I pay much less for this software than for a similar product I used previously. The software is user friendly, and customer support personnel respond quickly when I have a question.

Cons

There are some limitations. For example, clients can't easily upload documents to the portal, creating templates for documentation is tedious, etc.

Pros

I found this program to include everything I needed for a reasonable price. If they didn’t have the feature, they had great partners to work with instead.

Cons

$700 setup fee for PDMP. Outside of that, I can’t say anything negative.

I used to love . They recently changed their pricing and now it feels like a ripoff. In order to continue to have a single, simple feature (calendar sync) I would have to pay $30/month EXTRA. This is a feature I used to have, that was already part of the platform. It is now a premium feature. Very disappointing. I am looking for alternatives.

Pros

Relatively easy to use, good features, integration of telemedicine, health records, billing and more. Support used to be good.

Cons

The new price hikes without any improvements or innovations that make my life easier are a ripoff.

I am able to remain organized and more efficient.

Pros

I can submit claims directly. I can change and view upcoming appointments. New and current clients can book via online. I can also chat with saftey through their HIPAA compliant and encrypted messaging portal with clients.

Cons

There are still more features I would like to see for instance, a reminder when you have seen a client over a time period, claims that have not been filed, a way to list all sessions clients have held with you or upcoming.

Simple Practice has been an asset that I look forward to continue using.

Pros

Simple Practice has been extremely helpful in getting our new practice going. I have experience with online management systems from my previous work and would rank Simple Practice at the top of the list. The structure is intuitive and when you do have a question online tutorials have been broken down so that very specific questions can be asked and helpful answers are provided. It is a user friendly system. Further, information entry regarding clients is easy and interconnected from the schedule to the DAPP notes. When I had a question outside of the online support framework, a case manager was assigned, facilitated the change we needed, and then checked to make sure it worked well.

Cons

When I started with the basic version, it was unclear what functionality was and was not available because I was unfamiliar with the Simple Practice terminology. Providing an exemplar of Basic vs. Professional might be helpful.

Overall, I really have enjoyed the ease of using . I am a new grad, so I was looking to spend less, but know that I was getting everything I needed to run a smooth practice!

Pros

The product is relatively easy to use! It includes everything needed to run my practice for a low price. Other software programs required their premium software in order to print claim forms or super bills, so I am thrilled that this is included in the low price. It’s great for my practice so far!

Cons

I really would like for a family to share portal system or be able to create a unique user name under the same email. I see many husbands, wives, and children who all use the same email, but since the email can only be used for one patient, I have to give the rest of the family members paper forms to fill out. It would be perfect if they could use the same email, but create unique usernames for login. It would also be great to have an iPad app that can be used for note taking and such. The app is only user friendly on iPhones now.

I haven't used it long enough to say--I just started working with it a few weeks ago.

Pros

It's comprehensive. Undoubtedly, you can do a lot of things with it. I think it's competitively priced as well.

Cons

It's not always intuitive. Some things are really confusing. Their support is not as robust as it should be for busy working clinicians who do not have time to dig for needles in a haystack on the site, looking for answers. I sent a question to support and got an answer that read like it was cut and pasted from a few different scripts. It didn't directly answer my question. I would prefer live chat via phone and/or IM to communicate with a human being in real time to get questions answered. I also think that the onboarding process could be improved. I am getting a lot of emails from that talk about different facets of setup and day-to-day function, and it's actually kind of overwhelming. I signed up for one of the live overview sessions a few weeks ago, and the person leading it was going too fast, and wasn't that clear.

None. I was unable to set it up without a lot of aggravation and never got to the point of being able to use it due to a family emergency.

Pros

It has everything I would need. Well thought out and seemingly efficient. Difficult to get started and if you need help there is ZERO phone service.

Cons

Difficult to figure out without a walk through with a rep. They won't speak to you on the phone nor will they refer you to someone willing to HELP. I had a family emergency right after I paid for a full year in advance. I was unable to use the software and the weeks and months were melting away. I tried immediately to get someone to help me but they would not. Finally after 8 months, lots of Tweets, someone paid attention and helped me out but not without a huge amount of stress and aggravation added to an already stressful family illness. I want to use the software when I am better able but I can't support a company that cannot think outside the box! They won't even allow me to speak to someone in charge of customer service. It appears that if a customer has something of different concern, they can't handle helping the customer come to a satisfactory solution. I kept getting the same answer over and over and over and was NOT being heard. (the rep was ). Extremely frustrating and only minimal apparent concern for what trouble I had to advocate for myself. Not everything comes in the form of "cut and dried" run of the mill stuff. My situation was unique and they didn't seem to care one bit.

### "Simply frustrating, but will stick with it..."

I am a physician with a consultation practice. I am using Simple Practice for communication with patients, scheduling, and intake forms in addition to another product which has a much more robust EHR. I decided to give Simple Practice a try based on positive views by two physician friends who are psychiatrists. I started the set-up process on Labor Day and understood that customer service was not available. I was excited by what was promised and planned the next day to resume working on it when customer service was available. I followed the process for requesting assistance. The response I got was "Hi There! We’ve sent this automated message to let you know we’ve received your email. This is not our final response. We’ll send you a personalized reply as quickly as possible. (Our normal hours are Monday-Friday 7am-6pm Pacific Time.)" Still no personal response. All subsequent messages have been canned auto-responses. I'm disappointed that I cannot upload my existing intake forms and I'm going to have to rebuild them all using SP templates. I'm hoping that once I'm established the efficiency of my scheduling and intake process will offset my initial disappointments.

Pros

Interface is friendly and easy to navigate.

Cons

On-line help resources are simplistic and take you in a circle back to your initial question. I was unable to get answers beyond general and superficial information.

The primary reason I am using Simple Practice is for the insurance billing capabilities so I can make my life easier and not hire a biller.

Pros

I love the overnight billing with auto-pay and the entirely digital intake and consent forms.

Cons

I have encountered issues when trying to create insurance claims. I switched from Square and G suite once I got credentialed by insurance panels, as I needed to start billing insurance. Additionally, G suite was not created for private practice so it was a little chaotic and very DIY (and disorganized) and Square's hardware malfunctioned when WIFI signals were not strong - and charged 3.5% to manually charge without the card present.

I like SP and would recommend it to my colleagues in the community.

Pros

The price for SP remains the same regardless of how many clients you have (other comparable software charges based on client number). The customer support is excellent. They are prompt, polite, and follow up to make sure the issue was resolved.

Cons

The software is comprehensive in its services offered. I found that learning to use SP is a little less intuitive than other comparable software. I also has some limitations, such as having multiple emails on the account that can access the client portal. This is especially frustrating if you are working with divorced parents who are bringing their minor client to your office an are parallel parenting (not working together and in some cases not sharing information).
