### "Best EHR for solo providers"

November 11, 2025

5.0

I have used SimplePractice for five years and have had very few issues. Their team is easy to communicate with and respond quickly to help solve the problem.

Pros

It truly is simple to use. It offers all the features I need as a medical provider: customizable templates, ability to add various codes, built in billing, analytics, secure messaging, questionaries which can be scheduled to be sent to patients prior to each appointment.

Cons

The cost has increased over the years which I understand to some degree is due to new features, however, I do not need most of the features they have added as a single practitioner.

### "Great, High Quality All-in-One Platform. "

March 10, 2026

5.0

I am a very satisfied customer, and I did a ton of research before choosing Simple Practice. The fact that they've kept the price stable while introducing excellent upgrades is appreciated!

Pros

A true all-in-one solution, but not at the expense of quality or innovation. While I've rarely needed customer service, they were quite responsive and communicated well when I did.

Cons

It's a little hard to set up adult family therapy, and I wish the telehealth option allowed a single link that could be reused for each session.

### "Not Good at all, stay away from this company"

August 9, 2025

1.0

My experience with SimplePractice was not good at all. I will purposely and actively warn others to not use this service.

Pros

There really was not anything about this platform that I liked. I thought initially the layout seemed more intuitive but as I started using it, it clearly was not.

Cons

I’ve been unable to reach SimplePractice support despite multiple attempts. I had a meeting scheduled for 10:30 AM, but no one showed up, and there’s been zero communication. This is unacceptable for a platform that professionals rely on to run their practice.

### "Fantastic quality but expensive"

March 27, 2026

5.0

My experience was great. I used it for about 6 years until the expense became too much. I loved the ease of use and the user-friendly layout, and I love the customizability.

Pros

It’s really customizable and easy to use. I love the ability to make your own forms. So many platforms say they are customizable but they aren’t.

Cons

SP is incredibly expensive compared to other EHR platforms. In addition there are constantly cost raises with very little notice so you have like 30 days to decide if you accept the cost or have the time to do research and find a new platform.

Therapy notes says it’s customizable, but it’s really not. You can just choose which of their predetermined questions go on it.

### "Love Simple Practice!"

March 19, 2026

5.0

I love it. Retiring now but recommend to people now going into private practice. It has served me well in 3 years of private practice.

Pros

Easy to use, confidential, sends client reminders, can talk with someone and get support which I really like!

Cons

Retiring and have to download all files rather than pay small monthly storage fee. Might not even be practical so will just download in next few days.

### "Simple Practice is mostly simple, setup can be cumbersome"

June 11, 2025

4.0

Overall pretty good, but support could be better. The tools work well enough once you are rolling and accessing the data you need in the tool.

Pros

It is a unified cloud platform that hosts a lot of tools necessary in one place. Able to create and schedule clients and host notes for them in this tool is essential. It works well for being able to work on multiple kinds of devices and get work organized.

Cons

There were some hiccups in the process to transfer client data to a new instance that we were using from an existing instance.

### "Good but not worth the money"

March 27, 2026

3.0

It was overall good. I liked how easy the forms were but I felt the portal and scheduling was clunky.

Pros

I loved how you could scroll through notes and see everythign it one. place. It was so easy to review the past few sessions, which I have not found on other EHRs besides CarePatron

Cons

The cost is not worth it at this point. There are other EHRs tha twork as well, especially for small practices that don't use insurance.

### "Simple Practice, Not Simple for Primary Care"

October 16, 2025

2.0

I didn't have the best experience withe Simple Practice, because it was not tailored for my profession as a Primary Care Provider/Med Spa client The onboarding specialists were annoyed at times, I only had one that was helpful Overall not the best experience and they should advertise that they are more tailored to Mental Health

Pros

It was an affordable EHR It had built in templates You can e-prescribe The offered sign on discounts

Cons

It was not user friendly unless you are a mental health provider/professional; All of the templates are tailored to mental health and creating your own template for Primary Care, for example, was very tedious The e-scribe option was helpful, but also not user friendly, too may steps to electronically send medications

### "Almost Too Simple"

February 22, 2025

5.0

Pros

I have been using Simple Practice since 2018. It seems cliche to say that this platform makes running my practice simple, but in this case that really is the best word. I think for me there are 3 things that make running my solo private practice almost too easy. 1. Scheduling. I love that I can schedule clients for weeks at a time. I can properly schedule clients who are every other week and weekly and be able to add in one-time sessions in between and minimize the problem of double booking myself. Clients can cancel themselves and I can also see who would be in person or virtual. I love that I can create any time of appointment so that I don’t schedule clients without leaving time for eating. The scheduling includes the billing codes, alerts before each session and much more so it’s not something easily recreated in google calendar. And now that other calendars and Simple Practice can sync, it makes my weekly schedule that much more simple. 2. Billing. There was lots of intimidation around bilingual insurance. Enter Simple Practice. I still cannot believe that I can submit billing for multiple clients at once with one click. That’s it. And if I ever have an issue (very rare) the customer support is so good, they give step by step instructions to fix the issue making email communications simple as well. 3. Telehealth. My clients love that they can join a session from their iPad, laptop or phone with the click of a button. This is great for adolescent clients and allows for using a backup device in the moment if a laptop or phone dies mid session. They can send a message while on session in the chat or I can share my screen to work on exercises when needed. It has been super simple to have family sessions on multiple devices when needed. Running a practice from intake to termination is so easy that sometimes I feel like I’m forgetting to do something. It’s almost too simple. But guess what, Simple Practice even alerts you when you forget to do a note or a client has an outstanding balance, so even forgetting is made simple too!

Cons

Wished there was a live support option - now they have added it with a higher plan so I will need to check this out!

### "Great software to keep EHR simplified"

January 26, 2026

5.0

Pros

I loved the simplicity and prefilled templates, this software was very user friendly and integrated well with external calendar and payment processing. Switching to another EHR system was seamless.

Cons

The price is what I liked least about SimplePractice and some templates were too general and not specifically tailored to my family practice specialty.

### "Simple Practice EHR"

August 19, 2025

5.0

It was been very easy to learn and use. My providers like the simple notes section to document their sessions. And submitting claims to insurance is very simple.

Pros

We use of our outpatient clients. It's very easy to use and complete therapy notes. The customer support tickets answered in a timely manner.

Cons

I would like the option to apply payments i.e. grants funds to a client account if they are on a financial assistant plan.

Our overall experience has been good. The cost is the a big draw back and we have been looking at different options.

Pros

The ease of use. Appt mgmt set up. We have been overall happy with it. We have not used customer support to provide an review on it.

Cons

Cost! At times the links are not working for virtual sessions. We will have to send the link to them separate.

Overall, I had a great experience with SimplePractice—reliable, easy to use, and worth the investment.

Cons

### "Save yourself SWITCH before you start"

October 13, 2025

Little to no support. You can wait days for a response if any from tech support. No way to organize files. Tracking anything is a nightmare. Requests for simple changes are ignored.

Pros

It is easy to use: Billing is simple. Appointments are easy for patients. Setup was simple. The mobile app is ez.

Cons

In the long run it just doesnt handle what even a small practice needs. It does not manage communications, or paperwork.

### "Smooth Platform for virtual appointments"

March 29, 2026

5.0

Overall, the platform works well for video virtual appointments, allowing the practitioner to chart at the same time.

Pros

Works great for virtual appointments: automated appointment reminders via phone, text and email that seemlessly link to opening up the app for video appointments.

Cons

No option for clients to manage making new appointment times with practitioners. The phone reminder has an option for canceling the appointment; the text and email options do not.

### "A great system for practice management - but not for MY group practice."

January 15, 2025

3.0

In the beginning we were excited about the prospect of moving to this system, but ultimately, it did not meet our needs and did not offer the flexibility to adapt the features to accommodate. I believe it would be a great option for an individual in private practice, but did not work for us as a larger group practice.

Pros

We moved from a system that was very antiquated and simple to this platform and so the features that it offered were new and exciting. We were able to manage electronic documents digitally which we had never done before, run reports, manage schedules all in one place, and claims and billing were all in one place.

Cons

Because it is a system built to accommodate any type of practice, it did not work for our unique and specific needs. We had many issues with reports processing correctly, were losing information, and there were inefficiencies in the way that claims and payments processed and posted.

Switched from

[TherapyAppointment](https://www.capterra.com/p/110508/TherapyAppointment/)

Because the new version of the program we were in would not allow us to integrate our old records and was not efficient enough for us to choose it as our primary EHR if we had a choice.

### "Good for Some"

December 13, 2025

4.0

It’s a great tool for some, but we determined it was not the best for our company. It is expensive and the benefits did not outweigh what we were missing that other EHRs had.

Pros

It’s amazing for practices accepting insurance from traditional insurance companies. The user interface for both the client and clinician are also amazing.

Cons

The reporting side is lacking compared to other EHRs for Therapy practices. There is also no way to use non-traditional insurances and still pull reports for how much that company owes.

### "Decent Working Program for the Medical Field"

August 1, 2025

3.0

I think it is a decent program to have but definitely depending on the specialty that is using the program.

Pros

I like how it was easy to navigate through the program, and things were easy to determine what they were.

Cons

I didn't like the constant need for update or the bugs that would occur when sending messages or prescriptions.

### "Great Product But It's Pricey. "

October 8, 2025

4.0

Overall, my experience with SimplePractice has been positive. The application itself is wonderful and has been a great choice as a beginner to private practice EHRs.

Pros

I really like its flexibility in allowing me to do most aspects of my workload for my private practice within one application. The ability to submit claims, check claim status, and allow patients to submit payment within the application is wonderful.

Cons

Truly, the price is a dealbreaker. I am in the process of switching to a different EHR as a result of the price increasing so often. I have used it less than a year and it has already had a price jump twice. In addition, being charged per claim after so many increases my monthly bill. It becomes a lot.

### "A modern secure practice system."

December 20, 2024

5.0

It was pretty easy to set up and I'm still continuing to find extra features they offer. I like that they take cyber security seriously. I'm not sure why there are negative reviews about customer service as they have been quick to get back to me.

Pros

The calendar is great, easy to use and you can see the times client's are scheduled. You can set up notifications to be alerted about appointment times. The customer service has been helpful and they are quick to get back to me. They offer a lot of great features.

Cons

I would prefer more customizability with the invoices and Superbills.

### "Simple Practice = terrible customer service"

July 8, 2025

2.0

I really regret using Simple Practice. It’s OK until you have a problem, and when you have a problem that is a result of a glitch in their programming, you’ll get no help for quite a while.

Pros

It’s relatively easy of use. It is inexpensive for a sole practitioner. That is the only good thing I can say about it.

Cons

Its customer service is dreadful. You’ll be chatting with robots that can’t understand your question. Then you chat with a specialist who says something got fixed but it didn’t. Extremely hard to get a person on the phone, unless you are a premium customer meaning you pay extra for decent service. In the end after three hours the problem wasn’t fixed and I never got a phone call.

### "Great for Solo Therapist"

November 13, 2025

4.0

SimplePractice was a great EMR when I was a solo therapist. I did have to spend a lot of time creating the templates for SOAP notes, Progress Notes and Evaluation reports. Overall, it was a good product for the money.

Pros

This is a cost effective EMR compared to others. Scheduling and using the patient portal was easy and real customer support was available if I had questions.

Cons

In the beginning of my practice, I had difficulty creating templates. I was also unable to have temporary student accounts for graduate student supervision.

### "It was great when it was great, I guess!"

December 21, 2024

1.0

I have had Simple Practice for over 3 years. At first things were lovely, little connection and tech issues and the it was a very reliable system to use. Once SP increased there prices, the quality of the telehealth functions severely decreased. Even my clients make jokes about how unreliable the telehealth features are. I am almost embarrassed to continue using the software. Effective 1/1/2025, I will be leaving SP and going to Carepatron. I am excited about this change as the prices are great (more than $60 less per month) with more features, including AI integration. They also have the option to use ZOOM which is synced with their platform. I am excited about the change and simply can no longer support Simple Practice. It was great when it was great, I guess!

Pros

Calendar sync, scheduling, user friendly, payment options, Stripe integration, client portal, templates available.

Cons

Technology extremely unreliable, constant connect issues, non existent customer support, price is very expensive ($99 per month) and system issues at least 4 to 6 times per week.
