### "I am so thankful for SimplePractice"

My overall experience has been 9.5/10. The only hiccup I had was when I was scheduled for a 30 minute training session with tech support. I waited for 15 minutes past the allotted time with no one showing for the meeting even though I had received numerous email confirmations. After 15 minutes, I sent an email to the gentleman I was supposed to train with. I then received a call from a California number. A different tech support person called me to say the original person was out of the office and if I was still available, he would be doing my training. This annoyed me because my time is very valuable and I specifically set aside the time for my training and no one bothered to alert me that it had been canceled. Overall still a 9.5/10 for my experience with SimplePractice. Thank you!

Pros

The free trial period. The technical support is very good, timely, and answered my questions accordingly. The primary reason I chose SimplePractice was for the video counseling and online billing. It is excellent!

Cons

I would like to be able to log into the client portal to make sure they are able to access everything they need. I would like to see exactly what they see in the client portal.

Cons

I have no complaints. It is extremely user-friendly and takes the pressure and stress out of scheduling.

### "Why I chose SimplePractice..."

After several months of comparing different office management programs for my psychology practice I chose to go with SimplePractice due to a very positive customer service experience where the CEO called me directly within an hour of an email I sent to customer service expressing features I would like to see the software include. Howard spent about 30 minutes of his time talking to me about planned updates and feature improvements, while at the same time taking my concerns and ideas into consideration. This sold me, but let me address some of the things I talked to Howard about that I would like to see the program be able to do. I would like to see more features including scheduling, accessing clients notes, and accounting features added to the mobile interface with SimplePractice. Currently I can only access schedule and create new appointment, but I can't access individual clients notes, or manage the accounting through my mobile phone. Additionally, with SimplePractice I would like to see a way to send outcome questionnaires, periodically, to my clients. Finally, I would like to have a more robust templates in the progress notes. The features I like about the program include but is not limited to What I like about the price point of $36 monthly or $24 per month if paid in annual lump sum, most affordable of the office manager programs I have used. Next I like the simple uncomplicated interface in setting up clients and scheduling them quickly (i.e. being able to set up a first appointment with only patients name, telephone number and email). Additionally, being able to check a box that then sends the clients an email link to my initial intake, HIPPA, and practice policy forms, that I have set up in the SimplePractice template saves me time and my clients provided me with favorable feedback about being able to complete these forms on their mobile devices. These forms once completed are automatically uploaded into the clients electronic file within simple practice. Making my records completely electronic. Matthew F. Pros

Simple Practice makes it VERY easy to customize client forms as well as note forms. This is a huge pull for me. Being able to send clients forms to fill out before the intake saves time and helps me better prepare to help the client. I also really like the system of accepting payments via credit card, cash and check. This helps me stay organized for my own taxes and also provide proper invoices for clients. The text reminders ahead of the appointment has decreased my no show rate and also allows for me to charge a no show fee without feeling bad that they may have forgotten.

Cons

One area that I think Simple Practice could improve in is with data migration. I worked for an agency before going into private practice that used Simple Practice but there was no way to easily just release my account or to transfer my clients over. Despite the assistance from customer service, I had to start all over.

I chose Simple Practice because I used it with my previous agency and it was very easy to use and had great features for a good price.

### "Convenient and Intuitive"

My overall experience has been very positive and I can’t imagine using a different software after trying simplepractice. My previous softwares were much more clunky and difficult to use.

Pros

What I have enjoyed most is that this software is far more intuitive to use than my previous software. It has been much easier for me to learn to use and customize this software on my own than my previous software and so far has allowed me to do everything I need in my practice in one convenient location.

Cons

So far I can’t complain about anything related to the software. There are always growing pains when learning something new and trying to ensure the software is set up and customized correctly, but I’m very happy with my subscription so far.

I really like this program, and have recommended it to colleagues and clients (new, and potential). The ease of use is great for anyone with minimal software experience... or a seasoned veteran.

Pros

I love the simplicity of Simple Practice. It's very user friendly, and covers all the bases with functionality. The internal clearing house makes claim submission and review a breeze.

Cons

I don't like the enrollment process for the insurances through the clearing house take so long to process, and you cant begin the enrollment process until you have a client with that particular insurance. IE: Medicare (which takes 8-12 weeks for approval... JUST to submit claims). I also don't like that there isn't an 800 number to call for support... you're forced to go to their message board/forums to hopefully find an answer... you're also able to submit a question, and someone gets back to you... but, often the wait time, is just too long.

Pros

I have used other EHR systems, and think SP is the absolute best! I love how comprehensive the system is, the fact that it includes a client portal and customizable consent documents AND the fact that I get morning and evening emails that remind me of upcoming appointments/ provide me with a daily summary. Simple Practice is top notch!

Cons

The only thing I don't love is that I can't customize the note templates (I would like to use GIRP notes). I would like to be able to use the standard progress note in accordance with the tx plan, but it only allows me to document progress for 2 objectives.

My experience has been very positive as this software is catered to meet the needs of my private practice as a counselor. It addresses many of the components of running a practice that therapists find daunting. Just for the sheer support in these areas, this software system is worth it.

Pros

The customer support / help support is a clear stand out. No need to feel intimidated about learning because they offer layers of support- classes, video webinars, articles, daily q & a and I suppose I could call- haven't had the need. Another stand out for me is how it is designed with a private practice therapist in mind, which is fantastic not to have a lot of 'guess work' or having to adjust something else to work for me. Their professionalism in upholding our ethical and legal standards puts me at ease and would be reason alone to give simple practice a look. Also...NO PAPER! That's just fantastic.

Cons

There is a learning curve (depending on your comfort level with technology, it could be larger than others). That's the biggest con. Fortunately there is a one month free trial (they don't even ask for your credit card information during that time) and during that month there are plenty of supports to help teach you the system and have time to practice with it. There are a few more minor adjustments that can't be edited because of the system, but no big deal at all. It's fantastic.

### "It's Fast and Easy"

Overall, it has been very positive. The support has been professional, timely and pleasant to work with. You feel supported rather than a bother--which for SP creates value and customer loyalty!

Pros

The various features are great for therapists like me. Intake and session note templates are great and being able to customize is a great addition. The client portal and schedule features work great. Automatic invoicing saves me a lot of time.

Cons

With the automatic invoicing, keeping billing and income up to date. But that's not all the bookkeeping that goes on for a therapist. Why not make it a complete therapist bookkeeping feature. All what is needed is being able data money going out--those office expenses, such as office rent, equipment, advertising and owners draw. As a Canadian, my Simplepractice bill fluctuates--which makes bookkeeping errors more likely, and screws up budgeting. Like Psychology Today, they've taken the unpredictablity out of it for their valued Canadian customers and offer a standard fee in Canadian dollars. Finally, as someone who takes notes with an electronic pencil--it would be great to be able to import these session notes to SP, or even better to have this handwriting feature that is encrypted and secure!!!!

### "Easy to use"

It allows me to use one platform for several business needs including ability to book insurance in the future, send appointments reminders, notes and documentation, and bill credit card.

Pros

It's easy to use and customer support gets back to you within 24 hours. The count portal is very user friendly for clients.

Cons

It's missing some features and ability to customize. I'd like to customize this software a bit more like creating my own customize reports. I want to be able to attach documents to my clients and have them send it back via messenger. I would like to ability to do live phone and chat sessions.

### "Overall a robust system"

Good overall system for keeping good notes/records.

Pros

The documents, notes and forms are robust and I love the ability to have clients electronically sign. I like the evening summary.

Cons

Notes do not seem to have an autosave so you can easily lose what you are working on if you get distracted. Choosing a time and date on the calendar is cumbersome. Family appointments are not available yet. Also the invoicing doesn't seem to have the ability to add detail for the client but I may just no know how to do it.

This is everything I wanted but didn't know it. I love that this system will allow me to remain organized and streamlined as I transition from private pay to accepting insurance. The customer support is wonderful and they have great videos on their help portal.

Pros

I love that EVERYTHING is completed in one location! The client portal is outstanding once you get the hang of it and billing couldn't be easier! Really helps to keep me organized.

Cons

I wish that it was structured more towards speech therapists with better formatting for reports. Right now you can insert tables and reports cant be formatted in nice neat sections. I would also like to be able to take in office credit card payments via their Stripe credit card processor.

Overall have been very pleased with SimplePractice. It works well for my small practice.

Pros

The app feature is super helpful! Appreciate the billing features.

Cons

I would like to be able to send clients attachments through the secure messaging without having to store first and then share. On the app, it would be helpful to be able to tap on the day (in the list view) and then that day automatically populations when I click the '+' button to add a new appointment. It would also be helpful to have a notes section on the 'Create appointment' screen for more admin-related notes I need to make about that particular appointment for a client. Is there a way to create/edit notes through the app? Wish there was a fax option within Simple Practice. It took me some time to get a feel of how to navigate it; definitely wasn't intuitive for me but I was able to get used to it over time.

Ease of scheduling and quick and convenient note taking.

Pros

My favorite feature is online (secure) notes. This has saved me so much time as I was hand-writing them before. I also love the scheduling features and being able to send reminders via text. Lastly, the ease of having an app and two-way calendar syncing has been incredibly helpful!

Cons

I would like to be able to color-code my appointments so that I could see on my calendar with ease if it was an adult versus adolescent or individual versus couple. That's probably my one hangup with this software, but even still, it wouldn't prevent me from continuing to use it.

### "All-in-One EHR"

Pros

I love that Simple Practice offers all features needed to make a mental health business run smoothly! From client portal, to integrated billing, and the teletherapy feature is such a great bonus. I do admit that it is a little bit of a learning curve to learn all of the tools available, but it is worth the time. Also, they have great tutorial videos to teach how to use each feature. Custumer service is also prompt to return e-mails, within 1-2 business days.

Cons

There is so much that this tool can do, so it is a bit overwhelming at first glance. Claims and Credit Card processing fees are a bit more than the competitor Therapy Notes, but I believe that the integration of all the services makes it worthwhile. One thing that I am noticing, is that it's tricky to view upcoming appointments, other than by visiting the calendar. I would love a tab to see all upcoming appointments for each client, without having to leave the client tab and go to the calendar view.

I believe they use the ICD for their diagnoses but it’s frustrating when the DSM 5 diagnostic code you need for your client isn’t available and there’s no way to add it!

Pros

The idea of a Drop down menu for diagnoses is a good idea in theory and makes it easier when the diagnoses you need are available for selection

Cons

The only diagnoses you can use are from their drop down menu but they DON’T always match up to the DSM 5!

You can find a table in the reference section of your DSM-V that translates DSM-V codes into ICD-10 codes. I would highly recommend SimplePractice to anyone who needs a software system to manage their practice.

Pros

I love that this is an all inclusive, comprehensive software system that allows for everything from scheduling to billing/payments to documentation/record keeping. The cost is very reasonable for all that you get and it is very user/client friendly. Clients are able to easily schedule sessions through the client portal. The system provides basic templates for all intake and consent forms, reports, progress and/or psychotherapy notes; they also allow for customization of all these forms. They have an 'autopay' option for clients to be automatically charged after their sessions, which makes life much easier for both the client and the provider in terms of ensuring payments. SimplePractice has thought of just about everything.

Cons

General scheduling is excellent but when it comes to more specific requests having to do with scheduling, providers have to go in manually to make adjustments (i.e. recurring appointments; when setting a recurring appointment, scheduling system does not recognize when there is a day off or double bookings).

### "Intuitive"

Pros

This software is so easy to navigate and figure out. You can easily undo any "mistake," so trying different selections is not scary. The tutorials are easy to follow and the support service emails are timely. I tried a different well-rated software, but it was too much for just one practitioner. The price on this software can't be beat. It would have cost me 3 times as much on other software. There is also a lot that comes with the price, unlike the others that have a basic low price and then nickel and dime you for each additional service.

Cons

I haven't billed insurance with it yet, so I can't speak to that. Other than that, I am really pleased with what I've been using so far.

### "Simple Practice for a Therapy Provider"

Overall it's been a really positive experience! It was recommended to me by a friend who recently started using it for her practice and I've been really pleased with it so far!

Pros

I mostly find this software incredibly easy to use and pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it. I love that there are videos, posts, links, etc so you can easily access information that walks you through the steps of what it is you are trying to accomplish. I have used other platforms for video calls and this is the ONLY platform where I have not dealt with consistent technical issues that become disruptive to the session.

Cons

The main issue I have is with the scheduling. I don't find this part quite as intuitive as other tools I've used, although I will say it is far better than several of the tools I've previously used for scheduling. I think the issue I face is more unique to me than to the average user, since I allow for booking of phone or video sessions, which means adding two available appointment slots for each hour, instead of one.

Now that I have been hiring therapists as employees, I really needed a system that would simplify and organize all my needs for my clinic. SimplePractice was the answer. It is the best overall software package for my needs, and I recommend it to all my colleagues.

Pros

The SimplePractice system cuts hours off of my work as a therapist and business owner. Everything is at my fingertips in one place. Billing, progress notes, scheduling, anything I need is all in the client's appointment box. Love it!

Cons

I wish I could make bi-weekly recurring appointments. I would hope that feature would come soon.

### "Great customer support and practice infrastructure"

SimplePractice meets all of my needs. I'll admit I was a little frustrated at first trying to figure out where things are located (consents are in a separate spot from other forms), but the help support makes everything crazy easy. I feel like the support is custom, versus copied and pasted directions that aren't specific enough for me.

Pros

SimplePractice was recommended to me a physical therapy colleague out on Montana (I'm in Washington). I couldn't find any other PTs around me using it, l however, I am really surprised that more aren't! It supports both insurance and cash-based practices. The features I love: easy scheduling for patients, secure messaging portal, automatic invoice generation, note storage, and telehealth. To the best of my knowledge, no other physical therapy compatible platform offers this much while being able to handle insurance. While I am cash-based now, I am looking forward to signing up for insurance--great to see that this is an option.

Cons

The HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices was not specific enough for Washington according to my lawyer. It would be awesome if all the forms were compliant in each state, such as a Release of Information, but I get that there are some nuances to that. I could dream about some other features to add, such as customer relationship management or marketing.

I like keeping all my files secure and convieniently located. Customer service was prompt when I complained, but otherwise it takes forever to get clear answers to my questions and is a little difficult to submit a request.

Pros

Ease of having all my files stored electronically, able to do notes and billing anywhere

Cons

The transition from a group to solo practice was horrible and totally time consuming. Support was unclear and I literally spent hours having to transition my account.
