I like that I have an easy way to have clients fill out all paperwork before they come in for the first appointment and that I have credit card numbers stored on here. I also really appreciate the ease with which i can go paperless. I wish that it were a bit more intuitive and easier for me to figure out how to use.

Pros

I like that I can have a paperless practice and things are streamlined and all in one place. I also really appreciate the customer support- everyone has been great.

Cons

It wasnt so easy to figure out how to use. I also wish there was a way to do past progress notes without having to create appointments so that I can quickly and easily transfer old notes into simple practice and go paperless more easily.

There is of course quite a ramp up period for a new software package like this: lots of data to enter. But it is quite easy to use, and has lots of useful features. Some things I had hoped for are missing, but they seem to continually try to improve the product.

Pros

The automatic generation of superbills and statements is awesome. It's easy to schedule sessions, and the calendar integrates well with iCal.

Cons

Missing features: limited functions in the iPhone app, no reminders for things like annual dates when ROIs need to be renewed, the colors for the different types of appointments are too hard to discern (and there is no customization option).

### "New to Simple Practice"

I am hoping to move to a fully electronic medical record system with Simple Practice. I am hoping that it will make my work more efficient and organized, as well as provide increased safety and encryption for client communications and records.

Pros

I am new to using Simple Practice. So far, the set up is fairly easy and the tutorials are helpful. I’ve been able to reach and talk to support staff. I have not submitted claims through Simple Practice yet, but I’m hoping the process will be smooth.

Cons

The forms are tedious to create and to edit. I also attempted to put spaces between paragraphs for easier reading; but when I go to view the form the space between paragraphs is gone. The fee to use Stripe is higher than PayPal.

### "Switched from another EHR"

Pros

In comparison to using another EHR, I found Simple Practice to be very intuitive and user friendly. Ironically, despite being "simple" it offers many customizable features which lets you - as the user - choose the extend to which you want to personalize it. I love that you can send any documents you want to client - even after initial intakes are done. Layout is very clear and everything is easy to use.

Cons

It would be helpful if there were more features for couples and families - especially portal use for a family, ability to send emails to parents for multiple minor children when parents only have one email address each.

Invoicing, note taking, appointment management are all easily accessible and integrated in one system. Clients love the appointment reminders.

Cons

The software is geared toward American practitioners it seems, so some of the features are not as well suited to Canadians.

I like the integration of features. I like the scheduling functions, credit card processing, text reminders, the ability to send client forms prior to first appointment.

Cons

I don't like the cost to do insurance billing through the software, and I think that the treatment goals should show up in the note.

I have been looking for something like Simple Practice for five years. Every system I looked at either was very over-priced or did not have the features that I needed to run my practice. My favorite features include: \* automatic reminders sent to clients re: their appointment via text, call or email \* the client portal that allows clients to enter their data via a secure website directly into my system \* the ability to give electronic copies of documents \* being able to store documents that I scan into the system \* the effortless ability to download all of the data onto my computer as a backup \* the seamless transition of data between my laptop, iPad, and iPhone \* automatic syncing with iCal \* sending emails from my email account directly from the site \* the database that is integrated with scheduling, diagnosing, billing, and accounts \* being able to email statements to clients \* the reminders section that prompts you to missing data \* the prompt and friendly customer service \* the way they handle recommendations for future updates and improvements - most suggestions have ended up in being included in an update! \* and SO MUCH MORE The only downsides I have found so far is that the billing portion could be more complex and editing the documents being sent to clients is cumbersome. However, both of these issues are gong to be addressed in future updates! Sign up! You won't regret it!

Pros

Being able to link my calendar on my website is fantastic. The superbills the software creates are simple to create and send. I love the templates that are available and that I can create my own (haven't seen this with other software).

Cons

For clients who are minors, their and their caregivers' information gets mixed up. Superbills say payments should go to the minor which is inaccurate. If the minor has an email address in the chart, I'd like to be able to have the automated reminder emails go to the minor and their caregiver. I'd like more features for liability and documentation purposes such as: reminder emails being part of the clients' files (a read receipt would be even better); being able to pull a client's appointment schedule showing all missed/late cancelled sessions; having a confirmation in the client's file that a superbill has been sent to them

Pros

I chose this mostly because I am allowed to customize and create templates for progress notes and intake forms. Also love the ease of use and cost.

Cons

There are a few things with having a parent involved for a minor client that aren't ideal, but easy to work around.

Pros

I like that most of my professional needs are in Simple Practice - bookkeeping, chart notes, billing, interacting with my clients about appointments, intake paperwork, invoicing. Most of all, I love that Simple Practice integrates with Quickbooks. I don't believe many EHR platforms offer this feature.

Cons

I wish that you could write on your scanned documents, charge less for Stripe and billing insurance companies.

Overall, my experience with SimplePractice has been optimal. They provide a variety of great videos to help you in getting your practice setup and coaching you through the steps essential to charting. I do not use the billing feature but they also provide videos on that aspect as well.

Pros

A great feature is being able to send your forms to patients electronically. This helps the patient to know what to expect within the practice and allows the provider to be paperless, especially when practicing telehealth. I also love that I can do everything I need for my business through SimplePractice. I can chart, schedule, use telehealth video conferencing and collect payment all in one place!

Cons

I don't especially like that when creating a "template," when you select that template in the patient's chart for an actual note you are unable to edit that template. Before the appointment, I have to go in an copy the template information and then paste it into the "simple progress note" to be able to edit what I have written. Ideally, you should be able to select the template and edit what you have written. That's what a template is for!

I’m no longer misplacing files or having to create paper files to tote from office to client. Saving me so much time and headache by not sending bills or waiting for payment, the auto pay feature is priceless. Takes the awkward asking for payment at the end right away. I love the integration features and scheduling / auto reminder capabilities. It really is a simple system that every solo provider should have. It’s like having your own paid virtual assistant to do all your admin work.

Pros

Ease of use and the simplicity of all the documents. Not having to reinvent the wheel for necessary documentation was so valuable.

Cons

Not having a visual / written instruction on setting up and personalization. As a visual learner this would have been nice addition.

Everything. I absolutely love this product. The comprehensive nature of the software, they thought of everything, is so intuitive to work with. But, when I needed some assistance, the team was right on it and thorough. I have my whole practice on this software. It is HIPAA compliant, professional and my best asset in my work.

There is so much to learn, to know and to read, I can't get to all of it.

Pros

I choose SP for its versatility. It offers customizable e-intake forms, email/text/voice reminders, a secure portal, telehealth, credit card billing - all of which have been invaluable to launching quickly. I also loved the free trial - no credit card was required, so it's not like I became a customer because I forgot to cancel the subscription. I also found the instructional videos to be helpful.

Cons

Except for the calendar, the user interface can be pretty clunky. "Billing" for example, means something different depending on the page on which it appears. I wish it were easier to get an overview of actions I've taken like: emails I've sent, statements I've created, etc.

This is an all in one solution that provides peace of mind.

Pros

Ease of use, great support, thorough tutorials, seem less connection with stripe, and good telehealth platform.

Cons

It seems a little more expensive than others out there, but I believe you get what you pay for and I want an EHR that always works.

Pros

With SimplePractice, I love the integration across platforms. I am able to complete appointments and clinical notes on my smartphone, and can easily set up more advanced items such as custom forms on my laptop at home. The daily reminders are non-intrusive, the client forms are convenient, and comparing this product to other EMRs, I must say I was very pleased with the price point.

Cons

I wish the mobile app was a little more comprehensive. Having the ability to use the app to create client forms, adjust settings, etc. would be an excellent upgrade. I would also like a wider array of templates, even more than the premium subscription offers, including the PSQ and HRQOL.

It is a one stop shop and I so appreciate everything it does. We can't hire an office manager right away for our new business but with everything Simple Practice does, we can feel good about not having that option right away.

Pros

I love how intuitive it is to use, the option for Webinars, the fact that we can bill immediately to insurance and credit cards, the option for Telehealth, the ease of scheduling, and how quickly customer service responds.

Cons

I can't think of anything. I just wish I had the chance to use it at other practices.

I've made my initial forms and watched the introductory videos and played around with the software, so I haven't used it "for real" yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm tired of doing my notes in Word documents and not having a system to track things. My accountant said just that and an Excel file for my expenses would be all I needed, rather than having to use some complicated accounting software. I'm excited about how it syncs with Stripe and how it will automatically file claims and show what the insurance paid etc. I wish the part where you create your own forms was a little more versatile and that you could edit the times of sessions besides in 5 minute increments since insurance asks we record the exact length of sessions. But I am happy that Simple Practice is open to feedback. I decided to get it as most therapists online recommend this EHR system versus others.

Pros

It syncing with Stripe and fililng claims taking a "click" (from what I've heard) and the insurance claims automatically syncing too. The fact it offers appointment reminders.

Cons

Inputting my intake forms was frustrating. I was hoping it'd be more like qualtrics' software where you have more question options and can divide them into sections.

I love SimplePractice. It functioned as my assistant, my record keeping, my files, and administration. It allows me to try different organization systems for my clients and practice. It helped me focus on the work because it was EASY. There are constant updates to stay current. My client loves it!

Pros

I really loved that the software was user-friendly. I like that the software has an app function. The videos were very useful and the tutorials were easy to follow. I like that the forms were LGBTQ+ competent. My client found it easy to use. I love the reminders for both the client and myself. It is compatible with TherapyDen. Payment was simple.

Cons

There were a few buggy things at times but nothing significant.

Overall, it was a ONE-STOP shop for all of my business and office needs. The trial allowed me to see if it would really work for my client and myself. My client loved the ease of the system and the reminders. I found it very user-friendly and inclusive for my practice. I like this system better than the last two that I had used at different practices because of the ease of use and unlimited cl capacity. My previous software regularly reported that our practice needed to upgrade or archive clients, which created challenges. This has been a seamless transition to SimplePractice.

Pros

This software is very user friendly, and having team members reach out via email during the first few weeks of use helped me to find answers to my questions. The simple, clean layout makes it easy to view and adjust my schedule as needed. The Stripe system makes billing easy and worry-free.

Cons

As a marriage therapist who does not accept insurance, it is a little tricky to set up a couple and keep separate files for individual attachment needs appointments, but I am still learning and may not have asked the right questions yet.

I am hoping to save on the amount of time I spent scheduling and sending out intake forms.

Pros

The interface is very intuitive and pretty simple to navigate. The help button is available. I also have had quick responses in the transition period of migrating my data from my former software.

Cons

I'm not sure yet if I feel like I can "trust" or get comfortable with the online scheduling. It is one of the reasons I chose Simple Practice - to help minimize the amount of time I spend scheduling clients... so more to be revealed here.

Pros

This software is making my private practice so much more efficient! I’ve been using three or four different programs to do everything that simple practice does in one place. You can’t beat that for the price either. The value is so much more in my opinion! I really love it so far

Cons

Only thing that I would update a little bit here is the virtual experience. Even just a little something for the client to adjust the volume or screen size for example, or something that says you are now chatting with and the practitioners name. Just a thought
