### "Excellent EMR for Solo Psychiatrist"

August 13, 2020

5.0

Overall my experience was wonderful, particularly refreshing after switching from another general EMR. I have recommended Luminello to many peers and would continue to use it if I were ever in private practice again in the future.

Pros

There are many aspects of Luminello that were appealing and worked well for my practice. First is the user interface, which was very easy on the eyes. Being designed by and for psychiatrists, it was also very easy to set up in a way that worked for my practice - the progress note/intake templates worked perfectly, the superbills were formatted properly, etc. Customer support was also extremely responsive and helpful. I appreciated customer service by email, as responding to an email is much easier than making a phone call for me.

Cons

The integrations with Luminello were the area that I felt could have used the most improvement, but they did clearly work on them over the time I used the product. Some integrations only worked if you set up the patient portal (like doxy.me) and the e-prescribing was sometimes difficult to set up because of the need to use Luminello customer support as an intermediary. I would have liked integration with google calendars to help coordinate scheduling when I could not access the Luminello calendar (e.g. on my phone). The mobile interface was also sometimes difficult to use.

Thank you so much for your review, Dr. Havel. We're very glad that Luminello was a great fit for your practice. We are always looking for ways to make our integrations seamless and efficient with many updates coming soon, such as integration with Google Calendar. We will let you know once this new feature is available.

### "Becareful on what you put in a free software trial period"

February 17, 2023

3.0

I had a horrible experience with Simple Practice and I am writing this review to try to prevent you from going through the mess I did. I spent hours and hours learning the program, watching videos and building electronic enrollment forms, and placing current active patients records. Then after the 14 day trial I went to pay for the subscription and I was locked out. Support said they could not let me back in because our account was terminated. This is a copy and paste of exactly what Simple Practice said when I asked why our account was terminated:Pursuant to the LLC’s Terms of Service (“TOS”), SimplePractice can terminate your Account if we determine in our discretion that such action is advisable to protect the rights and interests of SimplePractice. We made this determination and your accounts were terminated effective as of 1/30/2023. No further details can be provided at this time. We appreciate your compliance. Please note that this is our final correspondence regarding this matter and any future communication will not be monitored.\_\_\_Talk about a waste of time and learning the system. Please avoid Simple Practice. I wish I could give you a reason why my account was terminated but apparently, they don't need one.

Pros

It did scheduling and Billing good - and That is what we needed.

Cons

Customer server was the worst ever seen. You will be able to actually talk to a live person after 15 minutes of confusing help information. Once you actually got to a support person the help staff are 25 years old or less. They seem to be all in training or they act like it is their first day on the job.

Hi William - I was able to find your Help Request where the closure of your account was discussed. I can see that that reason your account was closed was due to the sharing of login information and the incorrect person being given the Account Owner team member status. You can read about this in our Terms of Services agreement which is linked here: https://www.simplepractice.com/terms/

### "I have had on-going insurance enrollment and payer reports since I started with Simple Practice. "

November 12, 2017

4.0

It is simple with respect to face validity. You can navigate around pretty easily without making serious or irreversible mistakes that many of us fear with the technical aspects of EHRs.

Pros

It works relatively well if you have mostly direct pay clients or accept only a couple of insurances. It also works well if you have very few tech problems, your are pretty "techy" and industry knowledgeable to begin with, and you are ok with short answer email responses to any questions you might have.

Cons

There is no one to call. Even if you email asking for a phone call, they won't talk to you. Their customer support consists of sending you video and article links about how to do things. Or emailing you back and forth over the period of weeks or even months. However, if you have an actual, real-time problem, that cannot be fixed by watching a video, and requires someone to actually get on a phone and figure out what is going on- forget it. Your accounts will be hopelessly upside down, which is anything but simple! For example: insurance enrollments or payer reports that require immediate technical support, forget it. They will email you back and forth for months telling you that they submitted to have the problem fixed, as if that fixed your problem. Or they will answer you without addressing the whole problem. If you accept and/or bill multiple insurance companies, keep moving. Simple Practice is not the answer. It's too difficult to move your entire operation to another EHR once you have completely set up with Simple Practice and then you find out months later that there are no "simple" fixes when you have legitimate insurance problems.

### "Great get started product"

June 16, 2023

4.0

I recommend this product to anyone starting off with their business. It is a good resource for a thriving business as well. But when starting off everything is so overwhelming, yet Simple Practice makes it smooth and stress free.

Pros

I love how it has all that I needed to get my coaching business started. Easy set up of appointments and billing options. Very easy. Very helpful when feeling overwhelmed with starting a business up and running. I have gone from a brand new business to a thriving coaching business with the help and ease of Simple practice. It links into my apple calendar and my google calendar. It sends a reminder and link to my client. The billing system is smooth.

Cons

I have had a few glitches with the reminder app. Sometimes the extra features are not translated from the phone app to the overall system.

### "Price Gouging"

March 17, 2022

3.0

My experience has been that Simple Practice is not responsive to client complaints or concerns. They have ignored many issues and do not respond in a timely manner to basic questions. Do not get stuck with simple practice as they have a record or raising fees while taking away features.

Pros

I like the platform but not that they keep raising the cost over and over again.

Cons

In 2 years, my Simple Practice subscription has gone up 68%: Feb of 2020 it was $59 March of 2020 it was raised to $69 (+17%) March of 2022 increased to $99 (+44% from last increase, +$68% since 2020) Should I expect this kind of rate increases moving forward? Next increase would be at $140/month and then $200/month? They took away calendar sync! You have to buy premium just for a feature that should already be included in the basic. I know you all are "adding features" but none that add any value to me so I'm paying 68% more for the same experience, same functionality. I don't have any use for chatting with people during sessions, blurring the background, default templates or Wiley treatment plans that don't apply to my business, mobile billing or insurance billing, online scheduling, or a website/marketing directory thru you all. It's especially galling that for the extra money, I still have to build complicated Excel macros to simply calculate and track my actual/net income per session because there isn't a report that shows all of your appts and with how much you get after Stripe's cut.

Reason for choosing SimplePractice

I would not recommend Simple Practice to anyone do not get caught in the relentless price increases because they will no doubt keep raising prices quickly and you will be stuck figuring out how to manage the switchover.

Overall it’s been a good experience and I will continue to use them. I hope they do not continue to raise their prices while providing minimal additions

Pros

Cons

### "One Place for all of Your Electronic Medical Record Needs"

October 13, 2020

5.0

I am a pediatric occupational therapist and have been very happy with Simple Practice. I would recommend it to anyone. I have also used this software as a client and it's very client-friendly. The passwordless login makes it easy to login, I like the appointment reminders by text and email. I have used the telehealth feature as a client, but not as a therapist. It doesn't work well for evaluations because of the way documents are formatted, so I write those and my plan of care forms/goals on a separate document outside of SP.

Pros

You can bill insurance with the click of a button. I love being able to make my own forms so documentation is more efficient, and the paperless intake process is smooth. Much of it is very customizable to the needs of your practice. The company is very receptive to feedback from users and is constantly upgrading and adding features.

Cons

There was a learning curve to figure it out and I'm still learning about all of the reports they can run. I don't like the online scheduling feature very much, but that's partly because I'm used to using Acuity Scheduling which has many more features. I used the online scheduler briefly and wasn't thrilled that only new clients could use the online booking feature from the website; current clients have to login to the portal to schedule. I decided to just stick with Acuity because it allows me to get information from clients at the time of their booking and I can use it to schedule groups, which is a big part of my practice.

### "Just like name says, Simple to use"

October 20, 2022

5.0

My experience with is that it has helped tremendously in my Client charting and to remain compliant with the insurance companies I work with, in a very simple and straightforward way.

Pros

That it is completely customizable. I have created my own progress note template and several forms that the State of California now requires.

Cons

It is hard to contact customer support when there is a problem. Usually, I figure the problem out myself, but on occasion, I've had to just go on without correcting the problem.

Reason for choosing SimplePractice

It was the first product I looked into.

### "Used to be great, but recent bad business practices and rate increases for less features."

February 2, 2022

3.0

My overall experience has been fine. However, I'm extremely disappointed with recent decisions and practices of Simple Practice. They recently emailed users notifying them of plan and pricing changes, asking customers to select a new plan before March to ensure access to their account. However, they were NOT clear that selecting a new plan before March would incur a prorated cost for the difference in plan price. They also took away basic features on the lower two tiers and made them available only on the top tier plan. I am a single clinician with one biller and am forced to use the most expensive option, resulting in a 68% rate increase without warning. These two moves are unethical, and frankly, extremely poor customer service.

Pros

I appreciate the user interface on the website and app. It's easy to use and pretty intuitive. I enjoy being able to create custom forms and send text reminders to clients. The setup for a new client is quick and I'm able to send all required paperwork with ease.

Cons

Some of the options on the app are limited, such as being able to see claims (payments/adjustments) and a few things are hard to find, such as adding an insurance card to existing insurance (it's there, you just have to dig a bit). On the website, the claims can be a bit clunky to click through, as well as some things feeling redundant. I also dislike that you can't set the calendar appointments to auto generate a specific appointment time (the default is always 50 minutes and I have to change that manually each time). Also, customer service is extremely lacking. There's not an easy way to get to speak with a real person for issues.

### "It Needs MORE"

November 27, 2018

3.0

Over all, it works. It is awesome if you run your private practice solo. No problem at all. But for those who have a group practice, it needs lots of help.

Pros

I love that I can track client sessions, treatment notes, payment, etc. It is excellent for an individual clinician, but terrible for group practices.

Cons

I have many complaints - first the support team is not available to help. The program is not robust enough for a group practice, and it charges so much money for a larger corporation. I'd love to see some sort of discount for larger companies. I have two group practices and it allows double bookings. As you can imagine, a therapy practice can't have double bookings. We have to review the room usage weekly to catch double bookings. It does not allow us to change the front end view (client view). The front end shows our multiple rooms, instead of just showing our office location. It would be nice to have the ability to edit what clients see. It also doesn't allow us to merge data with quickbooks, so we spend hours with data entry each week.

### "Excellent product overall, highly recommended all things considered."

September 29, 2021

4.0

Overall, the experience is very positive, great product.

Pros

1) Electronic forms is their strength, love this. 2) Well thought out workflow, they don't shoe-horn a particular way to take notes like TherapyNotes (They offer options in Simple practice). 3) Excellent vision to offer website hosting, very advance thinking on your part simple practice. 4) Credit card integration is very well done. 5) Ability to treat couples as a separate entity from single-clients also love this. 6) Forum to allow clients to vote on features that clients like, this is great.

Cons

1) No Multi-factor authentication option yet, this is a security concern in my opinion, my clients are complaining about this. Unfortunately, this is still not very high-voted in the community driven Prioritization process, I hope they will see the importance of this soon. 2) Their only option for credit card processing is Stripe, which charges 3% (therapy notes has lower credit card processing fee as of today, we just switched over). 3) The telehealth does not support multi-way calling yet. (minor, I can find alternative products for this).

### "Exceptional EHR"

May 9, 2023

5.0

The Team has been INCREDIBLE. I am incredibly grateful to each person at Luminello who has helped me. I am so thankful for how they fast-tracked the migration process to make it as smooth as possible. Thank you so much.

Pros

The Team has been EXCEPTIONAL at Luminello. They offer individualized attention, support, and assistance to my private psychiatry practice. The platform is user-friendly, efficient, and easy to navigate. The customer service is outstanding. I am incredibly grateful to be using this EHR and highly recommend Luminello to every person looking for an EHR that is focused on mental health & psychiatry.

Cons

Very satisfied. I would only request an integrated Spravato REMS feature for ease of compliance with this treatment and customized templates specific to Spravato and Ketamine Therapy.

### "SimplePractice increased prices AND took away features..."

January 10, 2022

1.0

Very poor. While the service sounded great to start, they blindsided their customers and have provided an underwhelming response to our concerns. I specifically wrote them regarding the rate increases and was provided a copy/paste response (which was already published elsewhere). It wasn't personalized and it most certainly didn't address my concerns. I would caution all who are considering using as their EHR. This company has increased prices multiple times in the course of 2 years with the latest being the most significant. They don't deliver on promises and they could care less about caring for those using their platform.

Pros

I've used as my EHR for a couple years. I liked it. It was easy to use. However, they announced rate increases that begin in March 2022. Their announcement was sent out less than 2 months in advance which doesn't feel like enough time for the customer to make a decision on which new plan to use or switch systems.

Cons

They are a shady and money hungry company. They don't actually listen to customer feedback that results in any improvements or changes. They promise future improvements, but nothing comes to fruition. My subscription cost has a 77% increase if I want to keep some of the same features while losing some of the features I currently have. It is a 154% increase if I want to keep ALL of the same features I currently have and gain a few features that I don't really need and have no use for. Due to that outrageous price increase, I have to look elsewhere for my needs.

### "Simplifies EVERYTHING"

January 12, 2021

5.0

Overall, it's been great! I was reluctant at first to pay what seemed like a lot of money at the time but they offer a world of information, tools, and resources to help with your business. It's a brilliant idea that is, for the most part, very well-executed.

Pros

SP is great for having everything you need to run a practice in one place. I have an app on my phone that I can use to quickly check my schedule, send reminders to clients and cancel, change, or add appointments. They have a good "reports" option so that you can see outstanding invoices, insurance claims, etc. plus a number of other categories. I really love how easy SP makes it to submit insurance claims. I don't want to do that by hand nor do I want to hire someone to do it for me so I really appreciate that. I like that clients can request appointments and that all of their info is in one place. SP was very quick to respond to COVID and I appreciate the HIPAA compliant telehealth platform they created during the pandemic at no additional charge. They have extensive training videos but I am mostly self-taught as that's how I learn best. They also offer pretty good CEU classes for not much money about a variety of topics. And, if you're like me and find it hard to sit for the entire class at once, they will email you reminders that you have unfinished classes which is always helpful.

Cons

It is very difficult to actually speak to customer service. I spend a LOT of time typing in questions and then wading through what others have also asked about and the answers they got. Real time waster since we all word the issues differently so you get many irrelevant answers to try to parse. Half the time I can't remember how to get someone to actually chat with me - when they do it seems to work fine but can also be cumbersome depending on what the issue is.

### "Very Helpful But Some Issues"

May 18, 2023

5.0

Overall, I haven't beaten the features of for my therapy business, but there are some glitches.

Pros

The ease of using is fairly high, the scheduling effective and the billing a relatively simple process (with a couple of issues, as you'll see in the cons). Typically, the video quality is fairly decent and the ability to drag and drop appointments is great.

Cons

The billing. When you have a new client, you are automatically set to "cash" instead of the card they have on their account. If you accidentally proceed (because efficiency is great!) and falsely state that the client made a cash payment, it is NOT user friendly on how to delete that payment and resubmit via card. I have to look up how to do it every time. I think my primary complaint is that in a lot of ways, the interface for billing is not intuitive and often can take a while to sort through. Also, clients have to have the app downloaded prior to sessions in order to attend via cell phone, though they are texted a link.

### "Great Service, Greedy Company"

January 7, 2022

4.0

Raising my fees 150% to keep two critical features (appointment reminders and calendar sync) that I already have. Never experienced such price gouging with any other service or product. Even oil companies aren't this greedy. Only gave me two months notice. On principle, I will have to switch to a new EHR and will never recommend this company unless they rethink their 2022 revisions to payment plans.

Pros

The platform is great, super user friendly with many features that are incredibly labor-saving.

Cons

### "AWESOME investment for my private practice!"

April 14, 2018

5.0

Pros

I like the Ehr features, how everything is available on my phone or computer. When I worked at an agency, I used Greenway, another electronic system, so this is simply so perfect for my private practice needs - organization, client info, convenience, customizable email templates/forms, all electronic paperwork. I appreciate the Simple Practice team behind the software! When I had an issue, we scheduled screen sharing to work through it and the team is very prompt with email replies. I love that everything is EASY and convenient, so I don't need any paperwork. I also like how stripe is connected and recurrent auto pay is an option. I am private pay, so it's easy to edit the cost of a client's session depending if they are on a sliding scale. Also, there is a "book online" feature, so I have added this to my website and clients are using it! One of my client's mom's loves booking sessions at 11pm and planning for the week ahead, so the feedback is super positive. Love it!

Cons

The app and the safari browse are different. Some things aren't in the app, so I always just keep the browser open. One thing I'd like to improve: there is only room for one person's phone number to get the automated text and voicemail reminders. I see kids and some teens, so I'd like mom, dad, and teen client to each get a text and voicemail reminder about the appointment. It would be great to have two three people's phone numbers to have auto texting reminders sent to them.

Pros

We have really enjoyed having the app feature for our community based practice. All of our therapists are not in a clinic and this allows for them to document anywhere and quickly. Making changes and creating templates is very easy and simple to do. Our team really has enjoyed the sync feature of the calendar with our G-suite as well as how easy it is to do billing. As the administrative person, submitting claims is SO easy that it has given so much more time to perform other tasks.

Cons

While the calendar syncs seamlessly for our practice, it would be nice that visually that appointment looks different other than looking for the CPT codes to denote a difference. We also have supervisory roles and sometimes it is shared between more than 1 therapist so it would be great to assign that more easily.

### "Great software - could use some simple features"

November 1, 2019

5.0

Good. Some key features that I wish were present with billing graphics and information, which I mentioned in the cons section. If these upgrades/changes could be made, I would rate as excellent.

Pros

I love the editable notes/forms and the online access! Client portal is also more streamlined and user friendly compared to competitors. Reports are nice and helpful for the most part. Free text and voice are nice (however you pay the difference with the higher cost of claim submission compared to competitors).

Cons

The billing tabs are difficult to understand as they don’t seem to be graphically easy to understand where each invoice is being applied. Looking quickly at the billing tab, it looks as if I have twice as many invoices than I actually need and some invoices, invoice for a zero balance (or even before an insurance payment is made). This makes the billing harder to understand than some of ’s top competitors. Also, I wish the reports would show overall totals of figures (I.e. insurance payments owed, client balances owed, etc.). These features allow me to look quickly at client balances and billing and get an idea of where billing sits very quickly, and again, is a feature with competitors. Being a one man office right now, theses features save valuable time and seem like easy fixes to the system. I also wish Simple Practice had phone support - just for the fact that time is valuable and I don’t want to wait to resolve an question.

Reason for choosing SimplePractice

It was a hard decision over TherapyNotes. TherapyNotes has billing features and layout that is easier to understand. I went with because the client portal and online for,s are more accessible to clients and staff. Heads up though, in regard to features and accessibility, TherapyNotes is catching up to SimplePractice.

### "Satisfied Chiropractor & Acupuncturist"

Pros

Lots of important pros. 1) Online scheduling and intake, 2) integrated payment processing and auto-pay, 3) cloud based, 4) competitive pricing, 5) very easy to learn, 6) the team is getting faster (slightly) with updates/improvements, 7) works for chiropractic billing now, 8) free online help articles, and 9) free month trial. We looked into so many options, and Simple Practice was clearly the best in our opinion. We're still happy with our choice; the pros outweigh the cons!

Cons

1) Text reminders: you only have a few options of when they go out, and all options are 24+ before the appointment. A text reminder shortly before greatly reduces no-shows, so it's a major feature missing. 2) Confirming appointments: you can't turn off the need to confirm appointments, and it's time consuming to confirm every. single. appointment. We want the option to turn off confirmation, or at least for some appointment types. 3) Email reminders: you have to turn them on for every patient, and it's not quick to get to it. 4) Sales tax: they don't track it, so you have to manually keep track. You shouldn't use this software if you sell products regularly. 5) Customer service: too slow. Not just initial response time, but how many back and forth emails it takes to get an answer. I tried the live q&a and it didn't get me an answer any faster. Chat would be a big improvement. 6) Group practice: overall it works well. The thing that is lacking is the report to help with payroll. It's confusing and needs better instructions/help articles 7) Online scheduling: overall good. The con is cancelling online. A) it's hard to find, so we get more phone calls than we used to. B) we let patients cancel up to 12 hours beforehand, but the software cuts it off 24 hours before, so we again get more calls than before. 8) Color coding: you can't set the background color of appointments. For us, it would be so helpful to make insurance appointments a different color than self-pay.

### "Nadirah SimplePractice Review"

I have had great experience with . I like that I can continue my practice without paying excessive rent for office space.

Pros

I like it is an all in one virtual office. The Telehealth video allows me to visit with client even while traveling.Collecting payment is less of a hassle. Love the client portal such appointment reminders, al of the required forms, such as confidentiality, can be emailed to client. You can add the link to your website. I like the virtual office so far.

Cons

The pros outweighs the cons. I like to call for assistance and get an immediate answer. The assistance is email based. Sometimes, the profile can get cumbersome, especially when you have occurring appointments with the same clients.

Reason for choosing SimplePractice

I reviewed both therapynotes and . I believe the name attracted me along with the free trial. Once the free trail ended, I thought about how it supported my goals of leaving a physical office to a virtual office.
