I can do everything I need to with within one software.

Pros

It has everything needed in one software. You can find out how to do things very easily and is well desired for private practice use.

Cons

There isn’t a simple way to email clients that I have found.

I did a great deal of research on various offerings and landed with Simple Practice after my trial period with them. The software requires a smaller learning curve than some others I sampled, and has the most important elements for me to make note taking, billing, and appointment scheduling straightforward. I would recommend taking the Webinars to help navigate the software initially. Whenever I have had a question, I sent it via e-mail and was helped in short time with a very friendly and supportive response. Moreover, it strikes me that this group is adaptive by listening to customer needs and updating the software accordingly. I appreciate this flexibility.

I almost didn’t choose to continue on to a paid account but the telehealth sold me for now. I’m going to try it for a couple months and see if I like it enough to continue.

Pros

The telehealth option, which I have not used yet but plan to.

Cons

It’s overwhelming to learn and I wish you could just easily call customer service and get support when you need it. I don’t prefer online chatting and find it cumbersome and not efficient. You can schedule a phone call but that’s not easy for me with my busy schedule.

Pros

Had all the functionality you expect from a practice software but what sets SimplePractice apart from the others is how easy and user friendly the software is. I have used all of the other practice softwares and they don't even compare. Very pleased with the product and how easy they make it to send documents to clients instead of having to manually email them.

Cons

Only con is price but it's in line with the other platforms.

I have really felt at ease since starting to use Simple Practice. I was hesitant to jump into electronic records because I knew it would be difficult to learn. I have tried other free systems, but quickly got frustrated. I love how my clients have access to electronic documents and self-scheduling in the portal. I would like to see the ability to have client's complete this info in office for those who do not have email access at home, but overall, I have been able to work around this easily. I am truly impressed and excited to see new features being added regularly.

I met once for a "free" video consult session and that was pretty much a waste of time. That session was time limited and the young lady serving me required that I repeatedly clarify my questions. I was not impressed by her ability to listen well. Or perhaps she was sleepy. I am very impressed that when I submit an email question, the turnaround is pretty fast. Thank you!

Pros

It's wonderful to be able to offer what my patients need from my website.

Cons

The inability to customize. There are several ways this plays out.

I demoed and researched every reputable EMR out there for a part-time private practitioner. Simple Practice offered me a modern format with a high ease of use. The responsiveness of the team to add features and update the product at market speed impressed me. I worked for years in other EMRs at hospitals that took months, years, or even decades to make simple ease of use and modern formatting changes. I do hope for more portal customization options, specifically specifying who needs to sign what so I can stay compliant with state laws. Currently the forms allow only one signer, even when in our state, Washington, both client and provider must sign disclosures.

I really love using Simple Practice. I've tried several other scheduling softwares and this is by far the best. It's easy to use and clients seem to find the online portal easy to use as well. I do feel like it's geared more toward adult clients than child clients, and there's no way to integrate multiple clinicians in the same practice, but other than that I love it.

Pros

I love all the built in features for writing notes and billing is a breeze. I also appreciate how easy it is to watch a video or read an article to answer questions as they come up.

Cons

I wish there was a fee option for budding practicitioners. I know that this tool will be increasingly useful as my practice grows, but it's quite a bit of money to spend when you only have a few clients, and I've considered cancelling my subscription simply for that reason. Also, it seems most useful for folks who take insurance.

I was doing my own client reminder calls and it quickly felt like I was spending too much time just calling/emailing clients. Finally, I asked my therapist what he uses and he recommended SimplePractice. This product is so easy to use! The one (very small) complaint I have about reminder calls is the inability to schedule them myself (I would prefer they go out 24 hours prior or, in the case of my monthly clients, maybe twice before the appointment. I haven't had a chance to use the billing to its full power but it seems intuitive and has been useful for keeping track of my private pay clients. Thanks for an excellent product at an affordable price!

Running a private practice can have many moving parts, especially when you are working with children and families. With simple practice I am able to upload documents and allow parents access to a client portal to update ever changing demographic information. My only set back thus far is becoming savvy with billing and invoices, (a very new feature). I would like to see a more efficient way to modify billing amounts for missed sessions, remote consults and such.
