SimplePractice has all the basic things you need to keep your practice organized - calendar, billing, and forms for session and treatment notes. The design is "simple" but appealing, and it is intuitive and easy to navigate. Other software offers more options- and also costs more, but SimplePractice appears to be in the practice of adding additional content according to the requests of its users. When I can't find an answer within the software, customer service has been prompt and responsive. So far they've been great!

I like that there were alot tools and forms to make things really simple and that I was able to customize the forms to fit my practice.

Cons

The learning curve is tough and figuring out the right way to get help

Overall it has been very positive!

Pros

\- User friendly - Prompt and thorough customer service - Useful templates for documentation

Cons

\- Cannot easily undo a note or edit it once it has been signed - Difficult to navigate adding a supervisor and the workflow/communcation surrounding notes - Did not like that clients were emailed automatically about appts before I changed setting

I did a few test runs with the free trial as I've been building my private practice, and saw the benefits immediately. I recently decided to sign up for the program. It has already helped me immensely just by automating the insurance form process, which I have found daunting to do on my own! The interface is beautiful and user-friendly, and very customizable for the unique needs of my practice. I also appreciate the awesome customer service - responsive and personal. Now just waiting for the Android app version!

The software is easy to use and it organized my Practice. I love the fact that they are online based and they have an app for Android. I am always able to check my calendar and schedule clients even when i am remote. The in house ability to file claims and accept all major credit cards makes it attractive. The greatest attribute is that there are no contracts and you have an option to download your data if you choose to cancel the service. It is very affordable and offers tier pricing based on your Practice needs.

I am a new customer but so far I am enjoying my experience with Simple Practice. Keeping my notes electronically has been convenient (I can write notes from multiple places, as I do not need have a physical chart on my person). The interface has been relatively easy to navigate, though I did need to use the help center (and contact customer service once) to figure out a couple of things. However, both of these resources were very helpful!

I held out forever with cumbersome paper client records, while all of my peers went electronic. Simplepractice has made it so easy to streamline my practice management. Within a week, I am a fully functional electronic practice. The cloud based program is so easy to understand and accessible from anywhere and everywhere. Customer support has been stellar!

Feeling confident about starting my own practice!

Pros

I love the ease of client intake and communications through the portal, ability to bill and manage client payments, and automated text appointment reminders for client appointments.

Cons

I would love to have the ability to fax documents securely directly from Simple Practice. Standard release of information forms would be welcome.

SimplePractice has made starting my private practice a breeze. So much easier than I was anticipating.

Pros

I especially like the templates for privacy practices, consent to treatment, and ROI. I also love how easy my clients can use the portal to communicate with me and to complete standard forms.

Cons

For some reason, I can’t create a group note. It’s an odd oversight, in my opinion.

I've also attended the live support seminars, which had been a great opportunity to learn more about simple practice. I'm truly impressed with the efforts made to create an user friendly experience. I was drawn to Simple Practice because of its clean look. I downloaded the free trial and quickly became a fan. Customer service is readily available to help. When I asked about a feature that was missing, I was told they were working on it and will have it ready in the next few months. It has made me better with my billing and my notes, two areas of my practice I always seemed to put off doing. I look forward to the added features and I'm very happy that I purchased Simple Practice when my trial was over.

Pros

This product is extremely user friendly. The program understands the administrative needs of a mental health professional perfectly. I barely had to change any settings, it's so easy to use. I am very pleased with the program.

Cons

The credit card fee is extremely high. It's very expensive for a small business like mine, where I see clients once a week.

I appreciate the use behind the overall program however it has taken time to get to know how to use and navigate despite using the videos. I wish there was more direct phone service when needed and the timing for returning calls was usually several hours later. I like the ability to have personal e-mails sent as reminders for clients. I wish there was a better face sheet form/display to provide relevant information that could be quickly obtained for referencing as well as to print and keep in a chart.

I switched over from the very cumbersome therapy appointment software. I found myself running behind on notes and just could not keep up. I realized it wasn't me...it was the software. It wasn't easy to use and I needed a change. Simple practice is the best change I could have made for my private practice. The app and ease of use has made my life easier and I can actually do session notes between sessions like I used to without having to be logged into a computer! So pleased! Can't say enough good stuff.

Halfway through my free trial I have decided to bite the bullet and go all in. I LOVE that I can do notes using the app on my phone, and I love that the "gestalt" of my practice feels contained and organized. I still want to learn to use features like invoicing and credit card billing, but these don't seem like intuitive features to me - I'm not sure they are as user friendly - so I haven't ventured into that aspect of the program yet. Overall, I think I'm satisfied, and I definitely recommend to others!

Helps me run my practice efficiently without needing multiple products for notes, billing, scheduling etc.

Pros

Having everything on one platform. Being able to email client portal access with intake paperwork and statements. Ease of billing and note completion. Great customer support!!

Cons

Inability to choose exact session time on mobile app, such as 1:50pm because it only allows 15 minute increments even though the website lets you schedule tonthe exact minute.

Ease in charting

Pros

Client scheduling, billing, coding and notes area all integrated. That saves a lot of time and hassle. Also quite good customer service.

Cons

I can't find all the billing codes I like to use; it doesn't make charting assessments (e.g., neuropsychological assessments) easy.

Overall the program is great and Ive been very satisfied.

Pros

It can be set up to bill insurance providers. Makes creating/setting up new clients and new appointments fast and easy.

Cons

Still trying to figure out the automatic billing feature. I've had to turn this feature off and bill manually as the system kept billing clients requiring that I refund money repeatedly....

With Simple Practice, I'm able to maintain clinical notes, appointments, client information, and billing specifics all in one place. Simple Practice is also extremely helpful by reminding clients of appointments electronically by text--a must-have when your practice is essentially a one-person office.

I love that it's accessible on my phone as an app to make notes and review client information. The initial set up for each client is a bit consuming. I wish it had a new client "wizard" that would automatically request all the information necessary for a new client. It was hard to figure out if I had entered everything in because after you hit save it comes up to a blank form again. Even so, I have no regrets and am looking forward to the upgrade for tracking families and multiple person sessions.
