I tried Simple Practice on a trial basis three times over 14 months. During that time I examined other products and eventually committed to using Simple Practice. I was eventually sold on it by its simplicity and ease of use. The templates and the ability to create my own forms are a big plus. Additionally the client portal saves time for me and the client by allowing the review and completion of standard forms before our initial meeting. I am impressed and hope to be impressed even more as new options roll out.

Very good. I really appreciate the billing aspect, that it looks with my Google calendar, that the appointment reminders are free. I like that I can send patients notes, ppwk etc.

Pros

I like the visuals and ease of the program. Definitely straightforward.

Cons

Sometimes it's hard to find links to things. I would like to create more default settings like the length of time in a session. I don't love the way the calendar is set up on the phone app. I would prefer a calendar template (month) without having to scroll

Scheduling, ease of filing claims, ability to do quick treatment plans. I also like the idea that everything is streamlined.

Cons

The app does not have all the features I want, too many different windows to put in new client information.

Pros

The interface is aesthetically pleasing. The features seem well integrated. I have choices about how detailed to get with my EMR.

Cons

I've run into a couple small glitches (which may be the result of user error), but I haven't seen anything about it I don't like yet.

As a psychologist opening my own private practice, I am so glad my colleague recommended Simple Practice. It is easy to use and incorporates multiple features in one place including both progress and psychotherapy notes, billing (including insurance and credit cards), and intake materials completed by clients. I was interested in keeping my practice files and paperwork in electronic format, and I can easily do this with Simple Practice. I particularly appreciate the client portal that allows me to send customized forms to clients to complete before our appointments. I highly recommend Simple Practice.

I think when they add the treatment plans this will give an added bonus to the software.

I truly like the simple practice software. You have a choice of billing through insurance companies, the associated credit card processing company or through your own process of HSA card, Square, check or cash. The options are truly awesome and work well. The provided documentation alternatives are quite satisfactory although I am still waiting for the prospect of more personally designing my quick progress note and am also waiting for the ability to scan individual pages or documents into progress notes and/or psychotherapy notes. Every question I have had has been answered in an awesome manner, quickly, to the point and by people who act as if they truly care about how the program is working for me. Try it! You will like it!

I had been thinking about getting a practice management system system for some time, so the free, 30-day trial was a good way to see how it all works. I appreciate the fact that SimplePractice is geared to small, psychotherapy practices instead of large,medical offices. After experimenting with SimplePractice for 2 weeks, I decided it was a good way for me to streamline my business operations ' calendar sync, billing, HIPAA compliant security with a business agreement. New clients love being able to access forms through a HIPAA compliant portal, and I've even tried out the client reminders. The videos and articles make it indeed simple. I've asked a lot of questions and the customer service is prompt, friendly, simple and awesome.

I love that I'm able to collect credit card payments through SimplePractice-- it really made what I thought was going to be a difficult process completely do-able. The appointment set ups, reminders, etc. give me a very professional air with minimal legwork on my end.

Pros

It's functional and puts everything in one place. It is absolutely a one-stop shop for running a private practice. It was also very easy for me to learn.

Cons

I wish there was a plan less expensive than the essential. I really only need bare bones stuff until my practice is built up more. Until then, $40 monthly is significant.

This is a great, easy to use product. I especially appreciate the ability to store credit card information and to process payments from the calendar. There are certain things that I feel could be improved upon: 1) more color to the calendar (ability to use different colors for different types of clients such as couples vs. individuals), 2) a place for notes that could be viewed when you clicked on a client's name on the calendar (currently I keep notes about insurance and payments in client info, but would prefer that to be more accessible), and 3) I use the privacy setting but wish it showed the first two letters of first and last name rather than just initials (example Ted Jones would show up as "Te Jo" rather than "T J").

I have found the program to be very intuitive so far and look forward to using it more (I just subscribed this week).

Pros

There is something intuitive about it, and the app is helpful, too. I find that I am not needlessly clicking and it is visually easy to use.

Cons

Not sure. I was a little disappointed that there was not a way to reach someone by phone for customer service.

Pros

I like the features including the text appointment reminders and the stripe credit card processing. I also liked the online tutorials.

Cons

I had some difficulty when I had a problem. There was not a way to talk to a person on the telephone for customer service.

Pros

The interface is easy to use, clean lines make it look very professional, it is easy to know how your calendar is laid out.

Cons

I wish it was a little less expensive, but compared to other software, it is comparable. I just don't have a lot of startup income!

Just beginning to use it, but haven't actually utilized with a real client yet. However, I hear from fellow friends that use it, that they love it. I imagine once I really get going with clients, I may find it easy too.

The forms and document section confuses me, as some of the forms are actually under the client portal tab.

Pros: Customer service has been extremely helpful and prompt when needed; The site is easy to navigate and has so many helpful prompts to guide you. It allows you to cover every aspect of your business through the site minimizing time and effort it takes to run a business. Cons: If you aren't sure where documents are it can be slightly confusing. It would be great if there were more templates provided such as ROI's, additional screening tools such as D&A screening and suicide screening assessments, and specific intakes for specific populations.

I liked the features that made my practice easier to run. Patient data was able to be organized in one central location and billing made easier.

I didn't like the format used for charting, it felt less streamlined than the rest of the features.

So far my experience has been great. The ease and functionality of the program makes work so much easier. As a private practice owner who doesn’t have a team and is doing everything an EHR that’s easy and functional is a true asset.

Pros

What I like most is the detailed instructions on how to set it, any question you may have is answered through a video, article or both.

I can’t think of anything that I don’t like.

Simplepractice has made the transition from paper to electronic filing so much easier than I expected. There have been a few bumps (mainly adding a supervisor if a fellow supervisee has already linked them through the supervisor's profile, or a couple adjustments when it comes to billing) otherwise it's been a relatively painless process.
