The core workflow is strong: fast setup, a clear structure/UI, and notifications that keep you current without constant checking. They also recently released a Claude connector which looks to be pretty useful but it seems to be more expensive on the pricing side. There are a few areas where it could improve but overall does not introduce a ton of friction. Pros \- The structure and interface are clear and intuitive. New users, including external counterparties, can generally find what they need without much hand holding, which matters when you are trying to keep diligence moving. - Permissioning is straightforward to set up and manage - Email notifications when documents are uploaded are also very helpful. On an active deal with multiple workstreams loading files, you know immediately when something lands instead of checking the room repeatedly. Cons \- Bulk download can sometimes be clunky. With certain files (perhaps which are larger in size), you're not able to download it immediately - Search can be a hit or miss. It works well for filenames but is sometimes unreliable for finding specific content inside a large document set, which means you end up navigating manually more often than you would like. The core functionality is there, and it can support a complex diligence process once everything is configured. Cost is an issue and it will need to be better value for money, even if that means investing time in transitioning away from this tool. Pros The platform is stable once data is uploaded, and I didnt experience outages or hanging of web pages when large documents are opened. The permission controls are granular enough to segregate internal, external, and advisor access without involving IT. Bulk upload works reasonably well for large folders, and document indexing is accurate and easy enough to find what is needed via basic search. Email notifications for new document uploads is nice and i really like the Q&A feature as well as it helped keep external counterparties on track during the busier stages of the process. Cons The learning curve is steeper than it should be, even for users who are familiar with other virtual data rooms, and i needed a walk through with IT before i was comfortable. When managing the dataroom, the support the team provided was amazing, and Datasite was always the highest value among its competitors. Cons I would appreciate the default setting being alerts whenever a new file is uploaded rather than a daily summary, as I feel like I've missed new documents being uploaded, but that may be personal preference. It is very user friend and makes it easy for me to find documents that I have uploaded and other documents that others have uploaded. The only thing that is not my favorite is that it can be hard to tell what documents have been uploaded when. Pros The easy of use. The fact that you have one central spot to be able to upload large files and data sets to be able to share with internal and external clients. It is also nice that gives you a daily update on what documents have been provided by either parties. Cons The price. Datasite historically charges clients by the amount of pages that are extracted from the platform. Therefore, the cost of using the software can and will add up quickly.
