It's not as free as it may seem.

Pros: Nothing really.

Cons: It's not free but is marketed as free. It's not a one-time fee, there are limits as to the number of ads you can add.

Overall: Open Classifieds positions itself as a free classifieds script which users can use to start their classifieds portal. So I thought and was actually happy that there is a free product on the market. It was not until a bit later that I found out that a so-called 'free version' has limitations making it impossible to run a classifieds business.

Can you imagine that they allow you adding up to 6 listings to a free website? So, how does this work? I open a classifieds business for customers and have over thousands of ads but I'm allowed to add only 6? Is this a joke?

they need to position their product as a 'trial' and not as 'free' and not mess with customers' head by giving them false marketing expectations. It turned out that to get the product with more ads, I needed to purchase a Yclass license, which is also a product of open classifieds. I was willing to do this, when I understood and learned the hard way that there's no such thing as free lunch.

But I was dissappinted again when I fount out that even the Paid version is limited and has drawbacks.
1. The biggest disadvantage for me is that you have to pay monthly or yearly fees for the script - and it's not a one-time fee. Doesn't work for me, because I prefer paying one time and without ever having to pay for it again.

2. Even the paid version has limits as to the number of ads you can have on your site. 3 thousand or 5 thousand depending on the plan - it is still not enough for me because my classifieds portal may have up to 100 thousand ads.

I wouldn't recommend the product unless you're willing to pay monthly fees and have limits on the number of listings your website may have.

Recommendations to other buyers: Looks elsewhere.
