### "Good Features, But Costly for a Small Nonprofit"

Overall, our experience with Bloomerang was positive in terms of ease of use and donor management, but it ultimately wasn’t the right long-term fit for our small nonprofit. While the platform offered helpful tools for tracking donations and engagement, the cost was too high for our organization’s size and budget. We also wished there were more flexible pricing options based on nonprofit income or scale, which would make the platform more accessible for smaller organizations.

Pros

Bloomerang was easy to use and designed with donor relationships in mind. The interface was intuitive, making it simple to track donations, manage memberships, and pull reports without needing advanced technical skills. The donor engagement tools and clean reporting helped our organization better understand supporters and make more informed fundraising decisions. It also saved time by keeping communications, giving history, and notes all in one place, though we no longer use the platform.

Cons

The emailing features were limited and didn’t offer the flexibility we needed for segmented outreach and customized communications. Creating and formatting emails felt restrictive, and tracking engagement wasn’t as robust as expected. We also found some reporting and data management functions required extra steps, which made certain workflows less efficient.

### "Sophisticated and cost-effective!"

Overall my experience with Bloomerang has been very positive. I say there are limitations to every CRM but Bloomerang has by far been the easiest to navigate, and the support team is always very helpful if we hit any speed bumps.

Pros

It's extremely user friendly and makes donor management seamless. It's the best CRM on the market for the cost! I also love that it's tiered-pricing based on constituent count.

Cons

There are still some limitations in custom fields, profile fields, how reports can be filtered or columns set up and filtered, etc.

### "Know before you buy!"

Apparently, Bloomerang has a reputation for poor onboarding execution, which I was unaware of until I researched it, I was also unaware of the lack of customer support. They also do not issue refunds, even if you were never able to utilize the service due to the delays in onboarding. Buyer beware!

Pros

It would appear to be user friendly/ intuitive, seems to be a great platform is you are able to successfully onboard.

Cons

There were significant delays in onboarding and they refused to refund our nonprofit when we were unable to utilize their service due to the delays.

### "Bloomerang is a full service CRM"

As a first-time user of Bloomerang, I found it easy to learn. It provides great support and learning videos.

Pros

Bloomerang is a comprehensive donor CRM tha that allows for easy reporting and recognition of donor gifts. Their donor engagement level and a quick link to Donorsearch allow deeper insights into our donors.

Cons

Reporting can sometimes be limited, but their support team is quick to offer ideas and simple fixes.

Pros

Excellent customer support when I need assistance with setting up custom reports.

It does not always have all the features I would like it to have, but customer support is always good about helping me figure out a work around.

### "Very happy with Bloomerang!"

It's been a great experience. I love being able to track donor contact and gifts over time, as well as storing files and payment information. Reporting is super helpful for collecting data and planning for the future. Webinars have also been a great tool!

Pros

Bloomerang is user friendly, provides a lot of education for using its features, and their support is very efficient and helpful when needed!

Cons

That we can't sync it with our quickbooks to help communicate with accounting.

### "Could not be worse"

My experience with Bloomerang has been nothing short of terrible.

Pros

I don't like anything about Bloomerang..

Cons

Bloomerang is an old, outdated CRM with barely functional features, terrible customer service, and broken promises. Bloomerang has online forms that are not functional at all so you have to purchase an upgrade to get functional forms. We purchased two add-ons (Give+ and DonorSearch) and they didn't turn those features on for over 10 months. I have reached out via the chat and email NUMEROUS times and at times, it takes 3-5 days to get a response. Other times, I don't get a response at all. Their platform is not user friendly at all and you often have to take steps in multiple places to accomplish one thing. Due to the breech in contract on their side (not providing Give+ and DonorSearch for over 10 months), I've requested early cancellation of our contract and they refuse. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Bloomerang is overall an excellent product with many good integrated features that allows us to simplify our management of donors and donations.

Pros

Intuitive and fairly easy to use. Integrated services with emails and email newsletters. Report system very good. Donations directly populated into donor profile, creates new profile for new donations. A time saver.

Cons

There is no address label feature or a way to directly print an address and name to an envelope.

My overall experience has been great. The CRM itself is perfect for my organization's needs and the staff and customer support are very helpful.

Pros

It is super easy to use and it does everything I need it to do. The chat help function is also very helpful and responsive. If I ever run into a problem, they usually have an answer for me within a few minutes. Definitely the best CRM I've ever used.

Cons

We had to create our giving form in another software as the form offered through Bloomerang was not ideal and didn't offer a lot of flexibility or visual interest.

### "Great and Easy to Use"

Overall, we have been very happy with Bloomerang. We have been using this system for almost 10 years.

Pros

It is user friendly with a eye appealing layout. Support has always been helpful when I have needed to reach out.

Cons

I don't like that we can't build an email from scratch anymore. It can be tedious and time consuming to pick a random template and then have to remove everything to begin building a basic email.

This is hands down the most user-friendly nonprofit CRM I've ever used. A new employee can be trained on the basic features in a matter of hours, or even teach themselves just clicking around. The integrated email system is fantastic. Reporting is SO easy. Cost is amazing for such a great CRM. I highly recommend Bloomerang for any small to medium nonprofit.

Pros

Great out of the box, easy to learn CRM. Love the integrated email system that does almost as much as MailChimp. Reporting is SO easy - you don't have to have a strong understanding of queries, etc. - you just have to understand the concept of filters. Integrated Wealth Research, while limited, is also great.

Cons

Not the most powerful system, but it has what you need as a small nonprofit. Cons are worth accepting for the ease of use - it means employees will actually use it!

Every other CRM is so much harder to learn. Some are downright awful, requiring months of hands-on expert training that is very expensive or not even offered. Bloomerang is the only one I've EASILY learned out of the box.

### "Great CRM and Donor Management Software for Beginners and the More Advanced"

Overall a great experience with Bloomerang and would highly recommend for anyone wanting to utilize a CRM system. It allows for both the pro and new user to feel comfortable and confident.

Pros

The switch to Bloomerang was caused by the need for our non-profit to begin utilizing new technology to track not only communication, but honors bestowed, event attendance and registration, and donations. I can say Bloomerang does a great job with all of these things! The ability to add custom fields to a constituents profile allows for necessary unique tracking and plethora of donation tracking types allows us to keep up with the growing ways in which donors engage with us.

Cons

I would like to see a more customized homepage for constituents. Total sum of all transactions is obviously important, but ability to see a summarized view of their contributions to a multi-year campaign would allow to increased ease to our employees. I would also like to see either an Outlook Plugin or 1-on-1 mailing software with template's saved directly in Bloomerang. Each donor can have a slightly different message or details, so having that ability to pull a template and customize before sending (without having to go through MailChimp's webpage and pulling report) would make a huge difference.

### "Easy to use interface"

One of the best things about Bloomerang is there customer support. It is very easy to call them and get a very knowledgeable person that works directly for the company. After talking to them, they email you with what was discussed to make it easier to go back and follow directions.

Pros

I like that Bloomerang is very easy to use and understand. In today's society, we have incredible technology and constant updates that fill up our news feeds and dashboards to the point where it gets confusing at times. Bloomerang does a good job making everything look super clean and easy to read. Not only that, it's easy to find something in the reports section because the reports are very straightforward to understand how they work.

Cons

Compared to other programs, they don't have a beautiful online form which is why we use another 3rd party that also works with Bloomerang. There are also more steps to take to send a thank you email. These aren't big things but sometimes I wish that updates would come out sooner.

### "Great CRM"

Bloomerang is ideal for agencies that are looking for a straightforward interface with the ability to customize fields and reports to your needs. Their social media integration, relationship tracking, and interaction fields takes our ability to get to know donors to another level. The import function, once you get the hang of it, is an incredible time saver. The ability to embed online donations via a custom Bloomerang form into our website has increased our online donations significantly. The program is continually improving and the customer service is excellent.

Pros

\-User-friendly interface -Pretty easy for beginners to pick up -I love how you can make relationships between people (very nice to pull up a church and find out what volunteers and donors attend that church or go to that book club) and put people into households -The giving summary on the donor profile and dashboard is a nice visual. -I like the ability to create tasks (but it would be nice if they sent you email reminders for deadlines that are coming up) -The ability to create interactions field is very helpful to keep track of your communications, meetings, and other cultivation items that don’t necessarily include a donation. -Custom forms, including custom donation forms make it so easy to tailor fundraising campaigns. -Very customizable reports and fields (we now use Bloomerang instead of paying for Volgistics to track volunteer hours) -Using Bloomerang stripe with our online donation page is fantastic—Our online donations went WAY up from Paypal. -Great responsive technical support---we use just the online chats and emails and haven’t found a need for phone support. -Love that this database is always improving. Our last one did not have that capability, so I think Bloomerang has a lot of potential. -Also love that it’s cloud based---our last database was not. -You can link your Twitter feed to Bloom and it will automatically populate tweets that your constituents have tweeted, and it gets added to their engagement level. -I’m using the import function for more and more things…donation entry, mailing interactions, attendance sheets, volunteer hour tracking. Once you get the hang of it, it can save a lot of time if done correctly.

Cons

\-Report formatting: All reports export to excel, but it only exports the table and information. It would be nice if it at least included a title (so you remember what you’re looking at), and maybe a time and date it was run. -Reporting: The new reporting function is very powerful and you can pull great information from it. I do have trouble with how Bloomerang collapses each query. With more complex reports it's hard for me to remember each part of my query when everything is collapsed into a small -Multiple tributes/notificants (for holidays): You can only put in one tribute per donation right now. -They need a much better way to input tributes and they also need a way to track and send acknowledgements to people: The honor/memorial function is currently the worst part of Bloomerang…it has a terrible, backwards work flow and a major oversight for nonprofits that process a lot of tribute gifts. Although you can add a “notificant” to a donation, there’s no way to actually send letters to notificants through the letter function. We’ve created a process to notify honorees and notificants manually that works great, but that’s something to keep in mind for folks that process a lot of honor/memorial gifts. -Special note if you go through the conversion process: When you add a new constituent, there’s a field that Bloomerang populates a date called “Created”. However, when your data is transferred, your original Created dates (if it was tracked in your previous system) will be lost and they’ll all be put into Bloomerang as the date the data was transferred. Bloomerang needs to keep the integrity of the original "Created" date of constituents OR create a custom field to place that information so you can run future reports. \[There is no way to use the import feature for us to go back and add this information in, so volunteers are adding it for us\]. -Task list: I’d like the task list to show more details to help you know what the task is, and send email reminders. Right now you make a task and then forget about it. -Letters need to export to word instead of a PDF. We have a pdf editing software here to get around that, but would like to keep our Family House fonts and make minor changes if needed, etc. -Need a way to catch duplicate records (either with a report, or alert if you're entering an address that's already in the system)

### "Fantastic support, easy to set up, easy to teach"

Pros

Bloomerang is a breeze to navigate and search, with a detailed (but not overwhelming) summary view of each constituent, organization, and household in the database. When someone asks, "Who is this person?" I can tell them their top-line donation history, how we met, their capacity to give more, and who they're connected to, in less than a minute and with no effort at all. I can't overstate how intuitive and easy it is to get around, which is always helpful when training new users. After you build a few letter templates, gift processing and drafting acknowledgement letters become a joy. Integrations with Twitter, DonorSearch, and TrueGivers help us know more about our prospects and donors, and keep our address records up to date, automatically. But what I truly like most about Bloomerang is their support. They offer weekly training webinars not only about how to use the platform better, but also about topics in the larger nonprofit field. They offer a whole vault of resources for nonprofit organizations at any stage of growth. Every interaction I've had with their support staff -- by email, phone, live chat -- has been as thorough and helpful as I need it to be. Their "Features Portal" is always seeking feedback on what they could improve, and they're incredibly transparent about what they're working on next and when we might expect an update. In the year since we migrated to Bloomerang, it's been more than clear that they take this feedback loop seriously and listen well.

Cons

Bloomerang is easy to use -- at the cost of being fully customizable. I am not a programmer, so this exchange works out mostly great for me and my team, but I can imagine a programmer growing frustrated by the constraints in place to keep the platform easy to use. Take one example: you can add multiple addresses (email or physical) for each constituent, but there is no "note" field for each address. What if three email addresses go to the constituent's various assistants, and only one goes straight to the constituent? What if you mark an address "bad," but now need a place to say why? We've had to add custom fields (super easy to do, by the way) for "Additional Contact Information" so we can track these details, but those custom fields get buried at the bottom of a constituent's profile -- after the default profile information -- and there's no way to reorder the profile so that custom content appears more intuitively for how our organization uses the database. We've had to build in a few clumsy workarounds like this to solve problems that have a more straightforward solution, but those straightforward solutions then become suggestions in the features portal, to be solved if and when Bloomerang decides to. The reporting is a powerful tool, but the filter logic is unusual and has a few pitfalls ("raised" versus "revenue," for example) and a few hidden powers to know about ("has" and nested filters). Definitely take the time to dive deep into reporting resources.

### "Bloomerang Evaluation"

Pros

Bloomerang offers a great deal of features and is easily customizable. The customer service experience has been outstanding. I started my job a few days prior to the pandemic closing everything down. The online team was amazing at helping me run vital reports, especially the first three months. They are incredible and I am so appreciative of their patience and assistance.

Cons

Reporting in Bloomerang is complex, with the number of filters and varying functionality. Therefore, the learning curve is steep to understand the way all the filters work. Previously, I mentioned our issue with soft credit reporting. Bloomerang needs to develop a screen checkbox option with three choices when entering a donation: Report on soft credit donor, report on hard credit donor, or report on both. With the rise in donor advised funds and FaceBook fundraisers, this would greatly enhance Bloomerang's marketability. Although you an report on soft credits, if you want detailed reports it's cumbersome. I often find I have to create two reports and reference one report to obtain all the information I need. In some cases, Bloomerang was unable to list information I wanted for soft credit donors and I had to do things manually. I am never 100% confident in soft credit reporting and spend a lot of time double checking things. We have a high percentage of donors who give through donor advised funds and Facebook Fundraisers, so this is a huge issue for our organization.

### "Easy to use - great for small non-profits"

Bloomerang has helped us become more donor-centric as we are able to easily track giving by first-time and long-time donors alike.

Pros

We had a seamless experience migrating historical records from Access to Bloomerang. The transition team was excellent. Every aspect of the user experience is relatively intuitive, and when it's not, the support staff and knowledge base resources are excellent. I love the payment processing and gift acknowledgement tools, and our emails look great!

Cons

The ability to manage events with ticketing and raffles could be more plug-and-play. Lots of custom fields required to provide the tools we are looking for. I would also love to see an integrated text-to-donate function.

### "Ineffective CRM - Steer Clear"

Do you due diligence - we wasted our precious resources of time and money on Bloomerang. They have refused to give us any portion of our money back despite not even getting to a live stage. Bloomerang's failure to provide what we were promised is incredibly disappointing and I hope that this review will help ensure no one else is as negatively impacted as we are. Bloomerang is not a non-profit - and they are willing to take from them.

Pros

Website presence is impressive - BUT you don't have to be a customer to take advantage of the research and information.

Cons

Everything about Bloomerang was problematic once we committed to the contract and paid in full. The simplified platform was met just as equally with a terrible onboarding process that involved a painful weekly meeting with little progress. Our sales contact did not return calls or emails and we were supposed to be guided by a project coordinator/manager who did not know the platform himself. We heard "My job is only to get the data over. You will have your other questions answered in the next stage." The inherent problem with that is that we consistently found data fields missing even though we gave complete access to our current database. They could have easily looked at records to determine what was missing. We never even got to the stage of working with the data.

### "For organizations small and large, Bloomerang is good fit."

Our organization moved from Raiser's Edge to Bloomerang just over a year ago. If you are familiar with Raiser's Edge, you likely understand that this is a massive transition to undertake both technologically and fundamentally--but I'm glad we did. We moved away from Raiser's Edge because we needed software that was powerful yet highly intuitive and didn't ship with a price tag that is difficult to justify. A year later, all of my team members are comfortable using the CRM and do so wherever they need to because it relies only on a web browser and internet connect -- no proprietary software or hardware required; no desk to which you're chained. There is a lot of power in Bloomerang at a price point that I guarantee will fit any budget, and the Bloomreang team does a great job of creating a product experience that actually has you celebrating the renewal date because you can cut the check knowing you made an excellent choice. From our first call with the sale's rep and through 12+ months of communication, I have enjoyed our experience with Bloomerang and look forward to many years as a client.

Pros

Greater than the Bloomerang CRM itself is the company's incredible support team that is not only quick to respond and meaningfully engage, but does so humanely. Too many vendors staff their support teams with specialists who are technically proficient, but lack the ability to translate their knowledge into kind and understanding support. Without this type of support, clients like me would be left frustrated, defeated and with unresolved issues. Boomerang recognizes that their software AND support team needs to be human, and they do a great job putting this understanding into practice. This understanding is well-implemented in the software itself which requires minimal training to comfortably navigate and use. I am able to train-in team members on Bloomerang's basic functions within 60 minutes, and thanks to the software's intuitive interface, team members aren't intimidated by what they see on-screen, allowing them to explore Bloomerang's functionality on their own. This ease-of-use rings true for me as an administrator, too. Because I can swiftly navigate through the CRM's features, I am more efficient with my time and able to focus on completing projects and tasks without needing to consult a encyclopedia-length user manual. Overall, I have found that Bloomerang's great product and excellent support has elevated our team's ability to do our jobs well. We're not bogged down in the software anymore. We're focused on fundraising.

Cons

There are a lot of strategic opportunities for the Bloomerang team to take advantage of as they continue to grow as a company, and an area where I'd like to see growth is with third-party integrations. There is currently a MailChimp integration in the pipeline, but I'd also love to see the door open to platform access through API integration services such as Zapier, which would allow customers like me to easily and securely connect Bloomerang to other key software in use within our department and organization.

Ever since switching to Bloomerang, I have actually enjoyed entering donor information, running reports, creating emails, etc. With our other software, I dreaded having to login each day because it was just a clunky system, but not with Bloomerang. It is easy to find donor information, create forms, send emails, etc. And after 2 years, I have yet to run into any issues with the software, which is a win in my book.

Pros

From day one, everything with Bloomerang has been great. I was incredibly nervous about switching over to Bloomerang from our current software and they made the process so seamless and so simple. Once all of our data was converted, I jumped right in and could quickly run reports, create new donation forms, add images to all of my donors, and even link up social media accounts. Something that I could not do with our old software. Bloomerang's interface is also 'clean' and it is fairly easy to find anything you need. But what I have been most impressed with is its help features, free webinars, and customer service people. They are top-notch and you can't beat the free webinars that they offer weekly! I've learned so much since switching to Bloomerang.

Cons

We've only been using the software for about 2 years and right now, I really haven't run into any thing that I don't like. It is so easy to use and is really great software.

Overall, I've had a good experience. Bloomerang's customer service is excellent. But, as much as I expect a learning curve with any new software, Bloomerang's curve is a bit more wicked than others.

Pros

I like how the donor profiles and donation timelines are laid out, and I like amount of features available for the price.

Cons

The thank you letter/donation receipt function is frustratingly basic. Needs major improvement. And my billing module has been under construction for months.

### "I love Bloomerang"

Most fundraising vendors I've worked with feel very "salesy". Not Bloomerang. The company is made up of genuinely good people who honestly care about improving nonprofits' relationships with donors and helping them reach fundraising goals. I've been a customer for over 10 years and their culture continues to be this way. I also love how much time I save - other CRMs require a lot of time to clean up and input data; with Bloomerang I am able to spend more time actually raising money.

Pros

The reporting meets all our needs, data is easy to import and read, customer service and tutorial videos and articles are on point, and the company offers continuing education courses on fundraising strategies.

Cons

I've converted to Bloomerang from other CRMs at three different organizations now. Whatever cons they are, they are very minimal, and Bloomerang is constantly improving its system. Any major cons I could think of in the past have been resolved through upgrades they've done over the years. If I ever do have an issue, they are extremely open to feedback and will add my concerns to their list of features to improve.
