### "Great Product, Outstanding Customer Support"

From the onset our relationship has thrived because of the excellent customer service and support which elevates this company above all others. The small extra cost for the option of picking up the phone to talk to a real person vs. being forced to read online instructions or dumb chat boxes is worth every penny. We liked all the features of Bloomerang, but, from the beginning, our minds were swayed by the pleasant and helpful people at each step and on the end of the phone who listen, solve problems, answer dumb questions, and speak in a language that we can understand. When you buy Bloomerang you are getting great software, but you are really buying the service.

Pros

Visually pleasing, intuitive and easy to use, not overkill--just enough bells and whistles to do the job without being overwhelmed. Great reporting options and easy to clone.

Cons

would be nice to have more volunteer management features.

### "Bloom with a view"

Bloom has caused two issues with us, both pertaining to their team not following through with their commitment. Unfortunately, Bloom took payment for training sessions and never followed through with the one-on-one training as promised. Also, no follow up on system assessment

Pros

The features to help you model the system to your needs is pretty easy once you learn how to use it and the multiple functions that are accessible to you.

Cons

Easier help modules, search filters could be improved. Help those not as savvy.

### "Great Value... Always Evolving"

Overall this is my favorite donor and volunteer management software for a small to midsize nonprofit. The pricing is scalable and it really does a great job of integrating everything you know about a donor into one place.

Pros

I love how easy it is to use and understand Bloomerang out of the box. The customer service and training offered are first rate. Additionally, I love that wealth screening and NCOA scans are part of the package and not something I have to purchase and integrate separately.

Cons

There's very little I dislike. I want to be able to create custom titles and suffixes for people, but there's very little in Bloomerang that I can't do that I want to do.

I could not figure out how to do anything in our old database, reports were impossible, our data was a disaster. I had to spend a lot of money on consultants to fix our "free" Salesforce database. Compared to those costs, Bloomerang is cheap!

### "Finally a donor management built for small nonprofits!"

I used another donor management system that was NOT built for nonprofits - and certainly not for small nonprofits - for years. It was a pain and rarely were we able to extract useful, reliable information from it because of all the various service packages and layers added over the years by different administrators! Bloomerang is so simple to use, and the information we extract from Bloomerang is accurate and useful.

Pros

I absolutely love how easy it is to customize Bloomerang to fit our needs. There aren't a million different products and service packages that you have to juggle to use your donor data. Reports are super easy to build. Donor acknowledgement is really as easy as a push of the a button!

Cons

We do have some issues with formatting emails and letters that we're working through. I also don't like that you cannot apparently schedule reminder emails for tasks or assign multiple responsible parties for tasks.

We love Bloomerang. I've never been able to say that about other CRM packages we have used. Even our volunteers are able to get in and do meaningful work with this system. It' isn't cheap, but it is a very high quality system.

Pros

This is the first system we have used that is both easy to learn AND works well with other software packages. They have great partnerships with peer to peer platforms and are continuously improving the software.

Cons

I'd like it to track deceased contacts a little better. (You can mark them as deceased, but it doesn't note a date, and some other little things like that.) Their mobile app could be more full-featured.

Bloomerang let us really use custom fields, which was a big concern for us.

We have been very satisfied.

Pros

The web-based interface is fantastic. The evolution of flexibility and email marketing agility is not growing as fast as our organization's ability to maximize it. But, at this price point, Bloomerang has proven to be a very useful mechanism for volunteer engagement, donor development and stewardship, and for developing reports to enable us to better steward our donors and increase the number of donors overall..

Cons

Bloomerang is a little clunky. As we have gotten better at using it, our end-user satisfaction has lowered. We know more and want to be able to do more. For example, navigating in and out of email templates and copying and searching for past templates used is slow and multi-step, requiring back to the beginning navigation. Online forms development and email creation are somewhat "clunky".

Great company to do business with! Had a very positive experience starting with the sales team, on through implementation and going live. We budgeted for some customization related to our website donation page and e-newsletters--well worth the money. Fantastic customer support since going live! Triggers for 1st time donor calls are a big plus for getting the engagement and donor retention ball rolling. Looking forward to using DonorSearch more--pricing on that is a real bargain!

Pros

Bloomerang's functionality, ease of use and flexibility were deemed very important for a small non-profit with zero database experience. Having all grant and donor data in one location has made the organization much more efficient with regard to mailings and e-communications! Love the flexibility of being able to edit individual acknowledgment letters. Bloomerang’s focus on donor retention practices and engagement stand to strengthen donor relationships and increase revenue. Finally, significant value and opportunity are represented in the DonorSearch add-on to conduct prospect research and enhance major gift pursuit.

Cons

Be sure to factor in adequate implementation costs, especially if your organization is new to data conversion. While Bloomerang offers great small shop pricing for organizations with few donors and small budgets, in terms of implementation I would recommend, and budget for, either their customized conversion or a basic conversion with the help of a consultant. This is too important an investment for folks who are already short on time, and in this case, the needed expertise. So not really a con, more like a reality check if you are new to database software. Multiple tributes within a single gift seem problematic and could use improvement.

I am delighted with my use of the system and I'm glad we made the change from our prior CRM. Transparency for the administrative team, ease of use, and great integrations is bringing lots of benefits in terms of our records, protocols, and our ability to reach our donors.

Pros

Great flexibility allows easy customizations that helps you improve your CRM with usage and time. When combined with easy navigation and fast/accessible reports, Bloomerang is a system that is actually enjoyable to use. That's a big deal for your CRM! Remember - systems that are not used are systems that are not helpful.

Cons

The biggest frustration is that the constituent giving statistics via the "summary" views and "Timeline" views is set to the calendar year. For those of us who have a fiscal year different than the calendar year, this framing is not ideal. I've raised the point with the helpdesk and I am optimistic that the improvement will eventually be implemented. For the meantime, it requires patience and a mental "filter" to adjust accordingly.

Reason for choosing Bloomerang

We researched about a dozen systems before selecting Bloomerang. Initially, we were going to eliminate Bloomerang from consideration due to limitations to the user access (e.g. you're either a standard user with or without transaction edit/entry ability OR you are an administrative user). While there were other systems that allowed for more nuance between users (e.g. intern, volunteer, staff, administrator, board, etc) - Bloomerang had such strength in nearly all other aspects that we decided to proceed with our migration to Bloomerang. It has proved to be the right solution for us!

It's been excellent. We went from having an excel spreadsheet to an actual data base. Plus, the customer service is excellent!

Pros

Product is easy to use, customer service is excellent, and the training sessions offered throughout the year is very helpful.

Cons

My least favorite feature is the integration piece. I would like an events feature and think bloomerang could benefit from a piece where you can set up an events platform, purchase tickets, have a live auction, seat people at tables, and be able to print out guests lists. I also dislike, but also like all the set up for appeals, campaigns, and funds.

### "Very solid CRM for mid-sized nonprofits "

My favorite thing about Bloomerang is that it makes pulling reports accessible to a much wider group of people than our previous systems did. We used to need dedicated analysts to pull reports for the fundraising team, but with Bloomerang, even our most technologically challenged team members are willing to try running a report on their own.

Pros

My organization has been using Bloomerang for almost 5 years now. We choose it because we wanted a software that could help us manage a major donor cultivation strategy and a mass-marketing/email strategy at the same time. This software was the only one that we found that could do both of those things well. In the years that we've used Bloomerang, we've grown substantially (from a small-mid nonprofit to a fairly large one). It's been exciting to watch Bloomerang grow with us over those same years. They keep adding new features that address our growing needs. We originally thought Bloomerang might be the best fit software for a couple years, but we're still very satisfied and have realized that it can meet our growing needs for many more years.

Cons

There are some things that we have struggled with over the years, but most have been addressed with recent upgrades to the Bloomerang system. Our current biggest annoyance is that it's hard to filter out mass emails when looking at a donor timeline. We have a workaround for that, so it's not been a major challenge to date.

### "Good Value and Ease of Use Make it Exceptional"

I often recommend Bloomerang to my peers. For me, it is the best fundraising decision we have made. As Finance Director, I am also tasked with fundraising efforts. I have fundraising experience as an employee with a variety of non-profit organizations including Junior Achievement, a county hospital, United Way, a community foundation, a community mental health center, and now at a community action agency. While each organization has had their own nuances, the systems I have helped purchase at each pale in comparison to Bloomerang. It is by far the best software I have used based merely on its effectiveness, ease of use, and ability to guide the fundraising growth of our organization.

Pros

As a non-profit organization we are constantly having to have multiple employees help with the fundraising initiatives. We have found this software to be very user friendly. I am able to train staff to use it in a very short amount of time. Having an effective tracking database has been critical to good donor communications. The integration of the email functionality has definitely added value not only to our fundraising efforts but also our communication efforts in the communities we serve. Bloomerang is the very foundation we use grow our donor base. It also easily lets us see how we are doing with our efforts year over year. I also easily created reports to help guide our board of directors and our Executive Director for meetings with particular donors.

Cons

It would be nice if there were a few more 'stock' reports that generated.

Reason for choosing Bloomerang

Price, ease of use, and the ability to integrate email easily. We were also able to have the number of users we needed without having to pay more for each user. The reporting was easy for each donor and could give us great information to use to make decisions and appreciate current donors. We could easily demonstrate the value each donor provides to our organization.

### "Bloomerang is awesome!"

Bloomerang really helped to organize our donor relationships. All of us knew who spoke to whom and the financial background of the donors. We didn't have to have the donor repeat information because everything was logged in the system. We could also put our efforts into those who had a connection to our cause and the financial means to donate more if asked.

Pros

I was a part of selecting Bloomerang for a nonprofit I worked for. It was midline for cost and midline for options. That actually met our criteria. We didn't have any experience with donor software so we wanted something intuitive and easy to use. That's Bloomerang. I really liked the donor search because we could evaluate a person's capacity to donate. That helped us to be intentional with our efforts.

Cons

I would imagine that the options offered are not as robust as some other platforms however, we never used a donor software before and this was more than we needed. So we felt we could grow with the program.

I have always appreciated Bloomerang. They have given me the attention I needed when it was needed. Overall, we are very happy with this product and the service.

Pros

This software is user friendly and sophisticated. Electronic Customer support is efficient. The learning hub with videos and help information is well done and easy to use. We have appreciated this product for over 5 years.

Cons

I would love to have more event management options (ticketing, in particular). Challenge/Team fund raising capacity like GiveButter would be great. And, having an attractive online donation page would be appreciated. The product is so sophisticated I probably don't know what I don't know in terms of using all of its features.

We are having no problems with Bloomerange and simply continue to learn. Coming from Blackbaud eTapestry is a dream! I recommend Bloomerang to all local and national leadership groups.

Pros

Bloomerang has great customer service, easy tutorials, tons of webinars, and educational offerings that are very informative. It was an easy transition to Bloomerang and we continue to learn all the features to best serve our needs. We are enjoying the email feature (no more 3rd party services needed) and the ease of getting mass mailings out. Our tracking of donor history and reporting is constantly getting better. I like the customer service and user-friendly program the most.

Cons

We are still learning the many options before us. We started with a larger package and have not scaled that back. If we need to bring it back, we will. I'm learning new payment features which we may embark but the public feels very secure with PayPal.

Reason for choosing Bloomerang

Friendly sales, review of all features and alignment with other products, ease of transition, cost, customer service, training, and we could talk to real people - not just online chat bots and tutorials.

Etapestry was cumbersome, NO customer service, NO training, and difficult to master. The system was purchased give year prior to my coming onboard but it was like they purchased a Cadillac and used it as a tricycle. They could not get proper training without additional fees. My personal interaction in trying to get a Customer Service Rep to answer my questions and assist me was impossible. I had to go to a 3rd party for training, which I refused to pay additional fees for an inferior product. They also had no plans for improvement for eTapestery so it was a no brainer to switch over.

Our overall experience with Bloomerang has been terrific. We have much better reporting functionality, we track interactions more effectively. We create make use of all the features, and chose event software that integrates directly into BLoomerang this year, which has saved us a world of duplicate entry. We're very happy users.

Pros

I've been in fundraising for over 25 years and have used a lot of different CRM systems for fundraising. Bloomerang is my favorite because it is intuitive, well-designed, and because the company is continually updating and improving functionality. The ease of creating reports and pulling the information we need is my favorite thing about Bloomerang, followed by how easy it is to get technical support when we need it.

Cons

It is never fun to transition CRM software, and we had been with our previous provider for 15 years. We had a lot of data, and much of it was not maintained as well as I would have liked. But, Bloomerang met a rushed time line and we had what we needed to move forward as an organization. While we're very happy with Bloomerang, I would like to have a less clunkly way to track tribute gifts, and to produce letters to notificants in Bloomerang.

We were impressed by the variety of ways we were able to view and test the software before we committed. Once we got our hands on it, we really liked the way it works. We also saved a lot of money making the switch from E-Tap to Bloomerang.

Pros

Integration of Bloomerang was a smooth process, I like that the database tells me when I have duplicates so that I can clean up our database. Also, Bloomerang tells us when a credit card needs to be updated so that I can contact the member for resolution.

Cons

In the beginning Bloomerang used to show me customer names when I misspelled the first or last name. For some reason, it seems not to do that anymore.

Pros

We switched to Bloomerang as an organization around a year ago. This program is intuitive and user friendly. The transition between programs was flawless and simple on our end. The data is well organized and easy to access. Our previous program required chatting with a representative every time we needed to create a report - however this program is easy to use and we've rarely had to use the chat feature! The times we've used the customer service chat have been fabulous. The people are friendly and very helpful! The training is excellent. We love how it tracks our fundraising goals and how simple the online donation form was to create. I also enjoy using the email blast feature - this has helped us reach out to our supporters in a new, easy way!

Cons

I honestly don't have any suggestions at this point. This program is better than we hoped for.

This has been an invaluable tool in our work to build relationships with our constituents.

Pros

The software helps me feel more in charge of fundraising. It's one place that keeps all my information in a reliable and accessible way. It really assists with the informal nature of relationship building by offering structures to articulate and evaluate.

Cons

Sometimes the processes can be a little too involved, especially the ones that I use less often. I find myself having to re-teach myself things because there are so many steps. But honestly, that's a minimal critique. I really do believe the software is as effective as the user.

The salesperson was straight forward and had a great understanding of the software. They were exceptional at walking through product and quickly showing off just how effective it could be. the entire onboarding process was highly professional yet also personal. I felt like I was being helped at every step of the way and never felt like it was just about the "sale." There has been constant check-ins and questions about how things are going. At all times I have felt like if I ever ran into an issue, I could get assistance and get right back to work super fast. Not once have we questioned Bloomerang as our choice. Also, the pricing model was super easy to understand. A year later and the other shoe hasn't dropped. The pricing remains fair in relationship to our growth.

Overall I am pleased with Bloomerang. It is my first experience with a CRM. It is definitely a step up from my old processes. I love being able to quickly find donors, to add non-donation interactions to their records, and to easily run fundraising status reports.

Pros

Bloomerang is easy to use and offers many features, some of which I'll probably never use. I moved from several spreadsheets and an Access database to one database with Bloomerang at a very reasonable price suitable for the small size of our donor database. The report feature is powerful; a little bit of a learning curve but not insurmountable. Customer service is quick to respond and thorough.

Cons

I was a little disappointed with the conversion. A testing guide came with the conversion. Here is an excerpt, "You’ll have up to five business days to check out the database and let your project manager know if you’d like for us to make any revisions. (We’ll provide a testing guide!) When you’ve completed testing, please send a single list of requests with specific examples to your project manager". When I sent my list of requests to my project manager, she informed me it was too late to make any revisions. She was terse and unprofessional. I informed her the testing guide said I could revise x,y,z within 5 days and she said the guide was out of date, that it was too late to revise x, y, z, that I should have been more careful when sending the data in the first place. I'm also not crazy about the letter feature. I wish I could import already-created letters from Word into Bloomerang. Instead I had to re-design my letterhead within Bloomerang and create new letters. My Board is listed in the letterhead. When the Board changes, I have to revise the design within Bloomerang; I can't just import it from Word.

Reason for choosing Bloomerang

Scalability of price based on number of constituents, company history, customer service, focus on donor retention, had all the features our small nonprofit needs at a good price.

Pros

1)Really really strong support! From the conversion team to the people in the chat. Helpful and quick when you are stuck. Additional seminars that cover topics of interest(beyond the software) as well as how to sessions. 2)Very easy to use for the entire team 3)powerful enough to generate reports that save time

Cons

It lacks a good newsletter integration so we use third party. The layout of the interface is locked, it would be great if you could reorder the elements. I'd like to have the ability to customize the dashboard more-

### "Bloomerang is perfect for our mid-size nonprofit"

Bloomerang is exactly what we need it to be. Prior to having this CRM, we pulled solicitations from Quickbooks, which took hours to merge reports and get the information we needed. In Bloomerang, I make a report (sometimes with the exceptional help of the support team), save it, then just make adjustments for the next time I need the same information. I liken Bloomerang to the Toyota Corolla of CRMs... it does exactly what we need it to do, when we need it to happen.

Pros

The customer service/support is incredible. When I have questions, they make sure I have the resources to understand what's needed for the next time. Additionally, when I've made suggestions for improvements, they've turned around made the improvements within a week -- I feel heard!

Cons

There are a couple of add-ons that I wish were just part of the existing program, but I understand that certain tools cost more.

Honestly, once we got the Bloomerang demo, we knew this is the product we needed. The cost was fair and the customer service blew us out of the water.

Bloomerang has made it simple to track contributions to our organization. The customer service is convenient and friendly. Star Gospel Mission is glad we chose bloomerang!

Cons

It would be helpful to have the ability to import organizational letterhead for receipt letters.

### "Bloomerang for the win!"

I love Bloomerang and use it on a regular basis. I no longer hesitate to look up information or turn to Bloomerang for help. Because I had so many issues with our previous database, I found myself dreading having to use it and/or figuring out a different way to gather the information I needed.

Pros

My company used Raiser's Edge for many years before switching over to Bloomerang and that was one of the best days in my working career. I love that we can immediately get a sense of a donor as their page comes up with the Giving Summary and Level of Engagement. I also appreciate being able to quickly see what the latest, largest, first, and lifetime giving is at a glance. Pulling reports, mailing lists, and financials is very user-friendly, too. Having trainings available to return to for refreshers and references is very handy. Using Bloomerang has been a game-changer for me in keeping track of donor information and then having the ability to compile that information in almost endless ways.

Cons

The most time consuming part of Bloomerang that feels a bit clunky is the creation of households. It requires data entry for one of its members, a new constituent record for the other member of the household, and then going back to create a household and link the two donors. It feels like there could be an easier way to get that information and create those relationships without so much back and forth.

Reason for choosing Bloomerang

We looked at three other software offerings but we all agreed that we felt the ease of use, the look and feel of Bloomerang, and the cost comparison made it our first choice.

While building reports in Bloom is somewhat tricky (which I know is the same for all donor database programs), it is a remarkably helpful tool. The fast, friendly, and knowledgeable help from the "Live Chat" folks makes navigating these reports INFINITELY easier.

Pros

Initially, what I liked most about Bloomerang was the simple, attractive, and somewhat intuitive user interface. After a few years of using Bloom, however, I have to say that their online chat support is outstanding. Truly it is the absolute best online support team that I have ever experienced for any website or webservice.

Cons

We are a membership based institution which is slightly different niche of non-profit. Bloom isn't set up for that, but we've made some workarounds. A serious drawback is their lack of ability to handle class and event registration without setting up a new appeal for each program. They also cannot offer program registration with both paid AND free admission, depending on membership status. Sadly, I haven't discovered any program or plug -in that's able to do this. It's either all-paid or all-free registrations, not both.

The easy user interface of Bloomerang was a major deciding factor. I don't have a dedicated database manager, so the program has to be accessible by many employees for varying tasks. Affordability was also a factor.
