I really like it for setting up websites that have a lot of content for clients. Even though Worpress needs work like keeping it updated, making sure it is safe and improvinge how fast it runs all of that is easy to handle if you know the right way to do it. In the end WordPress is still one of the choices, for creating a website that works well and can frow over time. Pros I really like Wordpress. The best thing about WordPress is its collection of plugins. These plugins make creating and customizing websites a breeze. They save a lot of time. WordPress is also great it lets you add your PHP, HTML and CSS when you are making or changing themes.. The REST API is a big plus. It makes Wordpress super flexible. You can use it as a CMS. This means it works well with modern frameworks, like React and Next.js. Cons I find that relying on many third-party pluginscan cause site bloat and hurt page load speed. It worked well for publishing content and there are a lot of themes and layout options. For basic updates it was easy enough, but anything beyond that often needed help from IT Pros WordPress gives you a lot of freedom with page layouts, templates and plugins. Adding blogs, news and simple content changes is fairly easy once everything is setup. There are also plenty of developers who know WordPress, so finding support is not difficult. Cons Page editing was not always as simple as it looks. Many small layout changes still needed a developer. An update could sometimes break something that was working fine before. The site can also get slower when too many plugins are installed, and you still have to think about hosting, backups, updates and general maintenance. Once you learn where things are the page layout is predictable and makes editing easy which saves time over always having product updates with changes that make you have to re-learn where things are. Websites are an important part of your marketing arsenal so to have this level of functionality at a free price point is really advantageous. Pros It's free and open source so an absolute godsend for marketing operations on a budget (like many SMEs). That also offers a lot of flexibility, particularly with the raft of plugins available (stores for e-commerce, galleries etc). Also easy to edit once you get the hang of it, the learning curve isn't too steep. The design choices for making your own webpage relevant to your brand is powerful also. It also makes SEO really easy to master at implementation stage. Cons It does require constant maintenance (core system and plugin updates) but that may be the case for all CMS systems. It doesn't get in the way of day-to-day operations but you do have to consider the time in-house it will take to facilitate this (but if you want a functional website you will have to do this with anything you use). Building the site is a bit challenging as I am not a coder and if you want your site to look just a little bit different than what the template is you will have to know coding. Pros It's easy to make changes to my website. The templates are not the greatest as they expire after a while and you are forced to builing a new design for your site. Cons The templates expire without warning causing your site to look bad and some pages wont even load. once you get a new template installed all the font images and alignment are no longer correct. I don't like that every few years I have to completely rebuild my site. Cons While Wordpress is widely used it is not a complete system and does require enhancing by using plugins and extensions as well as design template. This can be a pro or a con but on the con side it does bloat the system and tends to affect performance. If I ever have any issues I can usually find a solution online from someone else who already fixed it or found a work around. Pros What I love about Wordpress is it's ability to help you integrate many available plugins to your website to make your site more rigid and offer more features to it. For eg: live chat plugins, woocommerce integrations, Paypal payments, etc. Everything at one place for you to use. The other reason I like WordPress is because it is absolutely FREE to use. There's a variety of free themes to choose from too. Absolutely, a WINNER! Cons I do not specifically have any complaints so far with WordPress. But, I wish it gave users more flexibility in terms of editing few stuffs without knowing the code. For eg, for some themes, if you want to get rid of their footer, you can't do it from the dashboard. Instead you would have to go to the CODE section is figure out the removal. It was a real estate website, therefore quite complicated. I added some plugins for specific features. However, I had some issues, especially because it did not allow the creation and the integration of an xml feed, which for real estate is very basic. Pros WordPress is very versatile and it allows the creation of a very customised website. it works with many different themes and it offers a huge variety of plugins that can be implemented to add more features. Some are free, some require a payment, but they allow to add many different features to your website. Cons I find it very complicated to use. Unlike other website builder systems that are very easy to use even without any technical knowledge (or with a minimal one). to work with WordPress I had to hire a web designer, and this of course affects the costs. I’ve used it to build a few different sites over the years, including my latest projects OverLoaded and Bulgariya. It does what I need without being overly complicated, and once you know your way around themes/plugins you can move pretty fast. Definitely a good balance of easy + powerful if you don’t want to build from scratch. Pros It’s flexible. You can make basically any kind of site without much skill or experience. Even though it's so easy to use for beginners, there's a ton of room for customization as well. I personally use a ton of custom code on my site https://overloaded.ai and even run a simple webgame with a global chat. Tons of plugins, easy to tweak design, and it scales from a simple blog to a full business site. Cons Sometimes the plugins cause issues and there's no way to prepare other than making backups. Updates break stuff once in a while, which is annoying.
