Click and drop. The main learning curve was finding where to add these code snippets or personalized css. But there’s a lot of information and tutorials so was quite easy. Pros I like how easy is and also is well integrated with other tools. Even if you don’t know how to code, you can built a website for free. The mobile experience is also nice. Their plugin library is amazing. Cons It could be quite confusing for a programmer because I couldn’t find the settings I wanted to change. With codes is easier. I really like it for setting up websites that have a lot of content for clients. Even though Worpress needs work like keeping it updated, making sure it is safe and improvinge how fast it runs all of that is easy to handle if you know the right way to do it. In the end WordPress is still one of the choices, for creating a website that works well and can frow over time. Pros I really like Wordpress. The best thing about WordPress is its collection of plugins. These plugins make creating and customizing websites a breeze. They save a lot of time. WordPress is also great it lets you add your PHP, HTML and CSS when you are making or changing themes.. The REST API is a big plus. It makes Wordpress super flexible. You can use it as a CMS. This means it works well with modern frameworks, like React and Next.js. Cons I find that relying on many third-party pluginscan cause site bloat and hurt page load speed. Wordpress also needs security updates to lower the risk of vulnerabilities. Building custom Gutenberg blocks can be tougher, than using page builders. Websites are an important part of your marketing arsenal so to have this level of functionality at a free price point is really advantageous. Pros It's free and open source so an absolute godsend for marketing operations on a budget (like many SMEs). That also offers a lot of flexibility, particularly with the raft of plugins available (stores for e-commerce, galleries etc). Also easy to edit once you get the hang of it, the learning curve isn't too steep. The design choices for making your own webpage relevant to your brand is powerful also. It also makes SEO really easy to master at implementation stage. Cons It does require constant maintenance (core system and plugin updates) but that may be the case for all CMS systems. It doesn't get in the way of day-to-day operations but you do have to consider the time in-house it will take to facilitate this (but if you want a functional website you will have to do this with anything you use). If I ever have any issues I can usually find a solution online from someone else who already fixed it or found a work around. That said, even with these costs, the value proposition beats closed platforms where subscription fees can hike unexpectedly. You are paying for ownership and freedom. Customer Support - There is no 1-800 number for WordPress.org. For users expecting white-glove service, this can be a shock. However, the community support is the platform's greatest asset. Virtually every error code or conflict has been documented and solved by the community on forums or YouTube. If direct support is a must, it requires paying for a Managed WordPress host rather than relying on the software organization itself. Ease of Use & Page Editing - WordPress is a powerful operating system, not a simple drag-and-drop toy. There is a learning curve. The native Block Editor (Gutenberg) has improved significantly but can still feel clunky compared to proprietary website builders. Many professionals eventually bypass the default editor in favor of third-party page builders. Templates & Website Design - The repository offers thousands of themes, but quality varies wildly. Many "niche" themes look great in demos but break easily. Mobile Responsiveness - Out of the box, modern WordPress themes are fully responsive. Mobile issues rarely stem from the software itself but rather from user implementation—such as using non-responsive tables or oversized images. It handles mobile well, but it requires the user to audit their work on different devices. The "Elephant in the Room" (Company Politics) From a product standpoint, WordPress is solid. Pros What I love about Wordpress is it's ability to help you integrate many available plugins to your website to make your site more rigid and offer more features to it. For eg: live chat plugins, woocommerce integrations, Paypal payments, etc. Everything at one place for you to use. The other reason I like WordPress is because it is absolutely FREE to use. There's a variety of free themes to choose from too. Absolutely, a WINNER! Cons I do not specifically have any complaints so far with WordPress. But, I wish it gave users more flexibility in terms of editing few stuffs without knowing the code. For eg, for some themes, if you want to get rid of their footer, you can't do it from the dashboard. Instead you would have to go to the CODE section is figure out the removal. Because it’s so big and popular I find it easy to integrate with everything. If something can’t be integrated with WP it’s not worth using. I design websites in WP and I don’t have IT background, I’m a designer and I’ve done over 700 websites without any IT support, and that’s thanks to Wordpress! Pros Oh, where to start! Wordpress is amazing platform! I can honestly say that you can do anything with it no matter the skills lever or budget. It does what I need it to do and I only have basic skills. It was set up by a contracted team and I only do updates and minor revisions. Pros It is a fairl basic website program that does what we need it to do. I have been able to make basic changes and I am not a skilled website designer. It is easy enough to use and love the plug in capabilities. Perhaps the paid version has higher security. Pros WordPress is easy to use and free, if you use it on your own web host. It made creating our company website quite simple, and we have several plugins installed to calculate shipping and take orders (ecommerce). Cons I am not crazy about the security - it seems to come under attack from spammers and bots more often than it should.
