### "Wordpress - The most used software in my daily routine"

March 7, 2026

4.0

I have been using wordpress for years, starting back in the day of name.wordpress.com to buuld your owne personal page. My websites have ecommerce embedded with payment solutions that I can manage myself. Plus for my personal sites, I can have a lot of fun creating different designs and add-ons.

Pros

Ease of use. I can get a simple page up and running in literally minutes, and an ecommecre site in under an hour. Beyond that, the templates and add-ons make it possible to design really great looking, functional websites across multiple industries.

Cons

Free plug ins. Most plugins have the danger of being hacked, especially if not updated. People...it's free for a reason. Purchase the upgrade!

### "Flexible, Reliable, and the Backbone of Our Web Solutions"

April 26, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with WordPress has been very positive. It has proven to be a reliable and flexible platform that consistently meets the needs of a wide range of projects. From simple websites to more advanced builds, it provides the tools and scalability needed to grow without major limitations. It is also the core web product we rely on, because it offers strong control over design, functionality, and performance. With the right setup, it delivers a solid balance of ease of use and powerful customization, making it a dependable foundation for both clients and long term development.

Pros

What I like most about WordPress is its flexibility. It can power everything from a simple blog to a full scale business site without locking you into one approach. The plugin ecosystem is a major advantage, there is almost always a tool available for any feature you need. It also balances ease of use with advanced customization. Beginners can launch a site quickly, while more experienced users can modify nearly every aspect. Having full control over content, hosting, and SEO is another strong benefit compared to more restrictive platforms.

Cons

What I liked least about WordPress is that it can become overly complex as a site grows. Managing plugins, updates, and compatibility issues can take time, and things can break if updates are not handled carefully. Security is another concern, since its popularity makes it a frequent target for attacks, requiring ongoing maintenance and monitoring. Performance can also suffer if the site is not properly optimized, especially when too many plugins are used.

Alternatives considered

[Joomla](https://www.capterra.com/p/161648/Joomla/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

WordPress offered a more intuitive experience and a larger ecosystem compared to Joomla. It is easier to manage on a day to day basis, especially for content updates and client handoff. The availability of plugins, themes, and developer resources is significantly stronger, which makes building and scaling sites more efficient. It also aligns better with our workflow and long term goals, allowing us to standardize it as our core web product. The flexibility, community support, and overall ease of customization made it the more practical choice.

### "Feels a little old school!"

April 3, 2026

3.0

It's not really changed in years which is probably a good thing for some people but I think there are slicker, cheaper, easier to use options out there now.

Pros

It's the old school option for website building, trusted and used by many. There are also a lot of skins available for design at cheap prices.

Cons

It's just too behind when it comes to the updates in online website building these days. I felt like I was working on my blog back in 2013 rather than building a professional website.

### "The best website design tool is also incredible value for money."

February 20, 2026

5.0

I was initially going to get a hosted website that would be tied to the host. So glad I retained my independence by using WordPress. The value for money is unbeatable! I have never had need to even call customer support.

Pros

It was a bit of a learning curve to set up for me with no experience, but there are loads of tutorials on YouTube to help you. Can't get over how easy it them was to get a professional website! It was also easy to see mobile responsiveness which is now my major source of traffic.

Cons

The steep learning curve trying to set it up on my own before I found out about the YouTube tutorials.

### "Wordpress is our go to website platform"

April 25, 2026

We use Wordpress for all of our websites as they have a good light SEO friendly structure and easy to use dashboard.

Pros

Wordpress is probably one of the easiest website platforms to use. User friendly and has tons of great plugins to accommodate all types of services and functions.

Cons

We tend to get a lot of spam comments, there are apps to filter them but they still manage to get though.

### "Affordable, Flexible, and SEO-Friendly"

March 18, 2026

5.0

As the owner of a marketing agency, I’ve worked with a variety of website platforms for our clients. We feel very comfortable working with WordPress. Its always being easy to use, easy to control to perform SEO, and we like the variety of customization options. Our experience has been great.

Pros

What I like the most about WordPress and why we recommend it to most of our clients is its affordability compared to other platforms, and also because it is incredibly user-friendly and offers great quality and functionality.

Cons

When we are changing the fonts and their sizes, sometimes and for some reason, the text doesn't pick up the font size and it doesn't appear visible, which force us to do it manually and try to guess the same size that was used before. Its something minor, but if this could be fixed that would be great.

### "The Classic is still the best"

March 12, 2026

4.0

Wordpress has allowed me to create and update a wonderful website for my company. The plug-ins alone provide anything you can of to really make your website shine and serve any purpose that you can imagine. When learning how to use Wordpress, just remember to stick to it and lean on the broader community to help support you.

Pros

Wordpress is a well priced and feature rich suite for website design and page editing. It has been a trusted name in web design for many years and is so widely used, that it's almost synonymous with web creation. Wordpress has a bit of a learning curve compared to some of its competitor, but that curve lends itself to being far more powerful. There is a huge community dedicated to web design and template creation to support you when you need help.

Cons

Official customer support isn't as dedicated as the forums and industry-led community itself. Wordpress isn't designed for beginners. If you're going to learn this powerful tool, you need to put the time in.

April 16, 2026

Couldnt recommend it more. If you have no web development knowledge, or if you have been doing it for years, you can very easily get to grips with WordPress to create sites.

Pros

How far you can push it. Most people turn their noses up at easy web builders like WordPress but the flexibility, ease of use and how quickly you can build fully customisable sites using templates empowers so many business.

Cons

The bloat that can happen with WordPress core files, themes and alot of plugins can make the sites slower, but with careful consideration this can be overcome

### "Too complicated for a first time user. "

March 18, 2026

3.0

Great software, but complicated and overwhelming for someone who is new to website design. It has many great features but I found that there were additional hidden fees for many of them.

Pros

WordPress had exhaustive features for website building and design. The customer support was good and overall good value for money.

Cons

I found the software very complex and ultimately it didn't work out for me as it was too overwhelming for my first time building a website.

### "WordPress is the Easiest and Most Supported CMS"

April 6, 2026

5.0

I use wordpress everyday to update and add content to my client's website. We are now ranking organically for many key phrases.

Pros

WordPress is the easiest and most customizable open website programming system. It allows me to choose from thousands of plugins to accomplish anything you could ever want a website to do and all for free. If I ever have any issues I can usually find a solution online from someone else who already fixed it or found a work around.

Cons

The frequent updated can sometimes cause issues for my website or plugins without my knowledge so I test the sites each morning on web and mobile versions.

### "WordPress is the Premier Website Builder"

June 17, 2025

In my opinion, WordPress is the premier website builder and content management system. I wouldn't consider other products as none come close to the number of features and level of customization.

Pros

### "Easy to use if you like basic layouts"

November 13, 2025

like how easy it is to use once the site is built. Building the site is a bit challenging as I am not a coder and if you want your site to look just a little bit different than what the template is you will have to know coding.

Pros

It's easy to make changes to my website. The templates are not the greatest as they expire after a while and you are forced to builing a new design for your site.

Cons

The templates expire without warning causing your site to look bad and some pages wont even load. once you get a new template installed all the font images and alignment are no longer correct. I don't like that every few years I have to completely rebuild my site.

Pros

WordPress has an excellent integration platform for a range off add ons that give my independent publishing business a lot of flexibility

### "WordPress - The Engine Behind Your Site"

May 28, 2025

4.0

Overall I have liked working with Wordpress which has been simple and powerful to use. Regardless of preferring Joomla or direct to PHP coding, I find that Wordpress is a simple platform for putting together websites and maintaining them.

Pros

Great all around web Content Management System to run websites and blogs online. Widely used by many Web designers and agencies.

Cons

While Wordpress is widely used it is not a complete system and does require enhancing by using plugins and extensions as well as design template. This can be a pro or a con but on the con side it does bloat the system and tends to affect performance.

Alternatives considered

[Joomla](https://www.capterra.com/p/161648/Joomla/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

Wordpress was fine. I cannot say the same about some of the plugins. Also, customers service is a bit lacking.

Pros

Provides maximum flexibility and ease of use for Wordpress specifically. The interface is intuitive, and there is a wide variety of free and paid themes to suit every need.

Cons

It doesn't include enough built in functionality for a store. Multiple plugins are required, and they aren't all easy to use. Also, the level of customer service varies a LOT.

### "Quick start, very flexible but time consuming"

February 1, 2025

4.0

Relatively simple to start but the more I uncovered, the more I needed to learn. Quick to get things off the ground but money needs to be spent on builders like Elementor rather than the native builder imo.

Pros

Flexibility, adaptability and sheer amount of choice. After a reasonably small learning curve, everything becomes quite clear on how wordpress and all the myriad plugins work together. The theme options are also great.

Cons

I found resolving issues can be very time consuming. Also even with what i felt was enough security, I somehow got hacked and eventually the website got consumed with so many fake pages i had to close it down and chose Wix.

### "WordPress for the win on my website "

January 25, 2025

5.0

Overall, I've had a good experience using WP. One of the main reasons I selected to use WP to build my website is due to their ADA plugins. I previously used GoDaddy for my website but could not get what I needed there so moved over to WP. The learning curve is a bit more than what I would like, however, partnering with someone who knows their way around has shortened it quite a bit. I am super pleased with how my website came out and am confident it will support my needs long term. I also like knowing I can renew my subscription for multiple years and not have to worry about it every year. As a small business owner, I enjoy tools that make my life easier.

Pros

WordPress sparked my interest based on the robust level of features and mult-year subscription options.

Cons

I found the learning curve a bit challenging so much so that I did hire a WP specialist to help me build my website.

Alternatives considered

[Wix](https://www.capterra.com/p/169007/Wix/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

I chose WP over Wix based on popular consumer demand. After doing a lot of research, WB kept ahead of Wix in many areas, so it was a no-brainer for me.

Switched from

[GoDaddy Website Builder](https://www.capterra.com/p/182500/GoDaddy-Website-Builder/)

I switched from GoDaddy because GoDaddy did not have the ADA plugin that I needed for my website. It was also a bit limited with how creative I could get with my website. WordPress has given me everything I need at this point in my business.

### "Essy to understand and easy to use."

February 27, 2026

5.0

I got on really well with WordPress as someone who used it for our online ordering system every day. It was simple and customers rarely had an issue placing their orders. I would use it again.

Pros

WordPress was our website host when i first began to be involved with the back end of the website. It was simple and worked for us as a website/ webshop. Orders were easy to understand and could be quickly categorised or actioned. Pictures and updates of products were simple to action. We did not have outside IT support at this time so all issues were fixed by the WordPress team themselves.

Cons

Although simple and user friendly, we were limited in what we could do using WordPress as our host. This was not an issue or even apparant until we wanted to redesign our website so was not an issue at the time of using it.

### "Solid content platform but plugins are a pain"

October 22, 2025

4.0

Wordpress is simple on the surface, but there is a learning curve to truly understand how it works under the hood. I have considered alternatives, like Ghost and Substack, but for now, I am sticking with Wordpress. When I enabled comments on my site, I had to experiment with Akismet, settings, and snippets for a week in order to get the spam submissions under control. Something to consider, if you plan on using Wordpress and want to enable comments.

Pros

Powerful content publishing platform. Fairly easy to get started. I use it with ACF to make it easy to use custom post types, taxonomies, and fields.

Cons

The plugin experience, for one. So many simple things that seem like they should be built into the platform instead require a separate plugin (or snippet). With plugins, you're at the mercy of the creators and must rely on them to update their code, keep it secure, etc. I've had to swap out abandoned plugins, pay for others, and I'm always concerned about security vulnerabilities. This makes me a lot less confident about using the platform as a whole. Another thing I don't like is the API exposure. It is very hidden to the beginner, who may not realize that they are exposing their personal information, for example. This part of the platform could stand to be made much clearer.
