Al principio, me sentía como un niño en una juguetería nueva. Tantas opciones, tantas cosas para hacer... me volví un ocho. Pero poco a poco le fui cogiendo el tiro. Lo bueno es que es como esos juegos que son fáciles de aprender pero difíciles de dominar. Puedes arrancar con algo básico rapidito, pero siempre hay más por aprender. He tenido mis momentos de frustración, claro. A veces las cosas no salen como uno quiere y uno se rasca la cabeza pensando "¿Qué carajos pasó?". Pero cuando logras resolver algo, uff, qué satisfacción. Lo que más me gusta es que es versátil. He hecho desde blogs sencillitos hasta sitios más complejos. Es como tener una caja de herramientas que crece contigo. Claro, no todo es color de rosa. A veces se pone lento, o algún plugin se daña y toca volverse loco buscando soluciones. Pero bueno, eso pasa con cualquier plataforma, ¿no? En general, ha sido como aprender a montar bici. Al principio te caes, pero una vez le coges el ritmo, ya no quieres bajarte. Pros Lo que más me gusta de WordPress.com es su combinación de simplicidad y potencia. Es como tener un asistente personal para crear sitios web que hace gran parte del trabajo pesado por ti, pero aún te da las herramientas para personalizar y crecer. Para empezar, su interfaz es bastante intuitiva. Incluso si nunca has creado un sitio web antes, puedes tener algo decente en línea en cuestión de horas. Los temas prediseñados son un salvavidas - te dan un punto de partida profesional que puedes ajustar a tu gusto. Cons Aunque WordPress.com tiene muchas ventajas, también tiene algunos aspectos que pueden resultar frustrantes. Te comparto lo que, en mi experiencia, no me gusta tanto: Las limitaciones del plan gratuito son bastante restrictivas. Si quieres hacer algo más allá de lo básico, como usar plugins o tener un dominio personalizado, rápidamente te ves empujado a los planes de pago. La personalización puede ser complicada si no estás dispuesto a pagar. Wordpress es fácil de posicionar gracias a los plugins que nos dan tanto de pago como gratuitos. It is a little difficult to learn to use, but once you understand it, it's great. Pros I enjoy using word press for our blog, it is very helpful and allows us to build them as well as publish them whenever we want, we are also able to integrate images easily as well as ads. It gives all the resources needed for free to get you started. If you want to expand yourself into something bigger they have options to expand with a fair price to do so with. Pros I love the choice of designing yourself or letting a professional design for you. In addition to the self learning tutorials are a major plus. The templates that are pre designed are phenomenal with great layouts and modifiable. Cons The least likeable experience with this app is that there is room for more modifiable aspects. I mostly work with page section after I set the plugins I need. Updates are frequent. You can have a preview in real time of your webpage (on desktop and mobile devices), speaking about tablet and smartphone I suggest to have a look from those devices instead of wordpress preview. Wordpress is perfect for personal and business websites, many features of templates and plugin are free. A really good CMS i recommend. Pros Wordpress is a free CMS that allows you to create many kind of websites. It has a lot of templates and plugin (both free or "premium") and you can build your website in many ways. I usually prefer using Elementor plugin. Setup is easy, you will need an already configured database to be linked to Wordpress. Even newbies can start producing websites, the learning curve is about one week or less. There is a lot of documentation on internet in case of need. Cons Too many advertisement and reminders in every section, I always have to close them because the fill the entire page. As I say, it's robust and if I decided to get someone else to build my website for me a pro developer should be able to pick it up immediately. Equally if I get stuck there is always someone who knows. Pros I use WP with Divi - a template website builder. WP seems to me to be robust, kept uptodate and its dashboard is intuitive to use. Whilst some website design knowledge is necessary to use this well, an enthusiastic novice would get by. Cons I sometimes struggle with adding blog posts - it seems to be more clunky than it needs to be - but maybe there are quicker ways and I haven't found them yet. While other options may be simpler to use to set-up a website, for anyone looking to grow or expand a business, you will eventually need to switch to Wordpress to get the advanced functionalities it provides that others do not. Pros Wordpress is the go-to if you plan on implementing advanced SEO into your website and if you plan to scale your business. Aside from this key aspect, I love Wordpress for it's customizability as well as features that can be accessed to make at website, blog, online shop high level. Cons Additional cost for customizable themes as well as challenge with setting up website and editing code if this is something you are not familiar with and prefer not to use template creator plug-ins like Elementor, etc. Elementor is amazing for this though! Wordpress is also expensive to maintain a website through with a host as after the first initial year, prices skyrocket, which can be a challenge for a brand new business. The only option to prevent this is to change hosts, however, this can create additional challenges with keeping a domain name and also additional costs to keep your existing website live through another host provider. Reason for choosing WordPress I have used many other products in the past and while they are incredibly easy to set-up, there functionality is more limited and this always resulted in me switching back to Wordpress. It's a fine tool if you really know how to use it. But it requires a lot of technical skill to make it look the way you want and for the functionality you may need. I like the blogging capabilities more than other platforms I've used. Pros You can do virtually anything with WordPress if you know how to program. Cons The need to update all the time to keep it secure. It's also really heavy and loads slowly if you don't have the right plugins in place. Plus, it takes too many plugins to truly customize it.
