### "Wordpress is the most versatile website builder out there, but comes with a steep learning cruve."

October 7, 2022

4.0

Wordpress is a great service if you know what you are doing. However there are easier to use services out there, but none of them can match Wordpress for allowing you to create whatever you want.

Pros

The pros for Wordpress is simple, you can make you site do and look however you want. There are no restrictions.

Cons

Wordpress is the most difficult site builder I have ever used and comes with a huge leaning curve.

### "My Wordpress review after 5 years"

April 21, 2022

4.0

It's been 5 years since I created my website. Several templates / interfaces and plugins, the site is still there and fully functional. The constant updates, the security fixes and the support community makes it easy for users like me, not experts but with a quick learning curve. Many options to personalize your post, events, etc. If you manage HTML and CSS , it's even easier to personalize and create you own designs.

Pros

Its popularity and immense plugin menu helped me to decide choosing Wordpress, specially when I was deploying a site for booking purposes and to have an online store. It's also very easy to install and understand for new user and not so Tech savvy

Cons

Sometimes some updates include so many interface changes that complicates things for some users instead of make them easy. Not a fan of the Gutenberg blocks editor, I had to install another plugin to deactivate it.

Alternatives considered

### "A car without seats, roof, doors, steering weel and windows. The engine is there, but that's it."

September 30, 2021

3.0

I am very surprised that WordPress is so popular. I guess they got lucky. The blog boom brought in tons of users who started a blog, hoping to make money. Then the developers came in, building extensions for those bloggers, hoping to make money. Eventually, the affiliate marketers came to promote those extensions, hoping to make money. The end result is an internet full of WordPress, millions of websites touting how great it is (with affiliate links of course), and yeah... in the modern world, advertising is what counts. There are much better systems available, both from developer's and user's point of view, but I guess they don't have many chances to fight this marketing machine. Pity.

Pros

WordPress is light to install - obviously, because it comes without most basic functionalities. It is a blog. So if you want to start a blog, WP is ok. Good thing is that there are countless plugins available to make many things possible, even though there are too many to make the choice easy.

Cons

Wordpress is like a car with just the engine and core parts. Everything else is missing. Thousands of developers around the world offer extensions for whatever functionality. Would you buy a Volkswagen and then install windows from Mazda, gas tank from some unknown Chinese brand, alarm system by Audi, wheels by some person from Jamaica...? And would you expect that this combination of parts functions well in every situation? Of course not. One part is updated, another part is not. Problems occur, sites break. Even if you choose only the "well-known" parts. Wordpress is free, but once you start adding up these "well-known" plugins that likely have support in the future, it becomes surprisingly expensive. Some good ones are also free, but prepare to see constant ads in the backend.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing WordPress

I had to create a Wordpress website because there was another software that had a ready-made bridge to Wordpress. I have also bought some websites that are built on Wordpress. As a developer, I have also had customers who have asked for help with their websites. I would never choose Wordpress if I didn't have to. There are other systems that work much better, such as Joomla.

You can install third-party provided tools and software via plugins or code snippets if you ever wish to add a forum, a shopping tool, a membership access section, or pretty much any additional functionality. You must alter the theme's real code if you wish to change the location of your header picture. This implies that you either need to be familiar with using and editing HTML, CSS, and PHP, or you need to have the money to pay a website developer to do it for you.

### "Best Choice for Almost Every Website"

September 11, 2020

4.0

I started working with WordPress about 4 years ago and I am still working with it. WordPress is very flexible and you can create 'almost every' kind of website with it. As a WordPress Freelancer, I have created blogs, e-commerce stores, static business sites, and many more for my clients and both me and my clients love WordPress. It's really easy to work with - even non-technical persons can operate it and customize it. I have almost no complaints with WordPress.

Pros

Most people are afraid of creating a website because it's hard and expensive. And that's where WordPress comes in - with WordPress we can create a great website easily at low cost. It's very easy to create a great looking and functioning site as WordPress has thousands of plugins and themes available online. Since WordPress is Open Source- we get the power of thousands of developers around the world. This is what I like the most about WordPress. For example - If we build a custom website and there's a security issue, we have to pay a good sum of money to security engineers to fix the issue. But if WordPress has security issue - developers around the world work together to fix the issue and we don't have to pay for it. I absolutely love this.

Cons

While creating a website in WordPress is a fast process - WordPress sites are generally slower. WordPress has many features - and you probably don't need all of them. This becomes critical when you start using site builders, page builders, plugins etc - most of them have more features than what you probably need and they bloat your site. Due to this - site slows down even more. But with proper optimization - WordPress can run blazingly fast. I have seen many WordPress sites which load in a fraction of second and many WordPress sites which take tens of seconds to load.

### "WordPress is the best platform in the world, and no other suitable alternatives can be found"

April 3, 2023

5.0

My experience with WordPress has been excellent, and it continues to be so. Everything is free, which enables anyone to create a website for their project, business, or personal endeavor. With numerous integrations and the option to develop custom plugins and themes, there's no need to be concerned about outgrowing WordPress. I'm curious, why don't people love it?

Pros

For the past 8 years, I've relied on WordPress to power my online presence. What started as a simple blog has grown into a fully-fledged e-commerce and subscription site, and I couldn't have done it without WordPress. Using this platform has always been a pleasure, and I consider it to be absolutely indispensable. One of the things I appreciate most about WordPress is its vast library of plug-ins, which have made it easy to integrate the tools I need to run my marketing business. And to keep my blog looking fresh and engaging, I like to change the theme every few months. Overall, WordPress has been a reliable and versatile platform that has helped me achieve my online goals.

Cons

At times, the website takes longer than usual to load, and I've noticed that the dashboard can also be slow. Based on my experience, this seems to be the only issue.

### "Best Web Platform Available and Worth the Learning Curve"

April 16, 2019

5.0

Wordpress is without exception the best web design platform available. If you require a blog that you'd like to customize or monetize, you need Wordpress. If you have require a business website that outranks competitors on Google search, you need Wordpress. There are few cases that I would recommend a different platform.

Pros

This review is about Wordpress.org, not Wordpress.com which is the free site (they have paid versions too though). I've built over a hundred sites with Wordpress. I've also built them from scratch in PHP and HTML, and with Wix and Squarespace, so I do have experience with the gamut of web design. Wordpress is by far the most versatile and widely used web design platform out there. Because it is so ubiquitous, it has the most available resources. There are thousands of themes so you don't have to create your site from a blank canvas. Many of these are free and those that do cost usually are very inexpensive. Plugins like Yoast that help your site's search engine optimization or plugins like Redirect which allow you to fix broken links or redirect a page you no longer want attracting traffic to a new page. And then there's the overall SEO of the site, which is where Wordpress truly excels over any other platform. Wordpress structures it's pages and posts in such a way that if you're willing to take advantage of it, Google will reward the site with a higher ranking. Also, Wordpress, unlike competitor platforms like Wix or Squarespace, is free! Many of the themes and most of the plugins are free too.

Cons

Wordpress doesn't have many cons, but here are the few: • Domain registry and hosting is handled separately, by you. • Customizing your site can definitely be challenging. It's not as easy as the competitor platforms. • Site speed can be slow when you want to have a lot of background video. It's slow on any platform, but with Wordpress, it's extra slow. Only with excessive video background though, not at all in other cases.

### "Great for building a high-quality, professional business website or blog for low cost"

July 14, 2018

5.0

The benefits I receive from using WordPress is that I have full control over every aspect of my site - from owning my content, to the design/look and feel, to what integrations and other tools I can use it with. It is highly flexible and if there isn't a plugin that will do you what you want, then I can go even further and do custom development or add custom CSS, etc. to make it do exactly what I want. It is simply the most flexible website and blog software out there.

Pros

I've been using WordPress to build blogs and websites for years, from my own personal blogs/sites to client websites. I remember there being a bit of a learning curve to get your site configured and designed, but once you figure it out, it's pretty easy and especially adding new blog posts and updating your content. And when used with a really good theme, that becomes even easier as many themes have a visual builder style page and post editor. Another pro is that there are a gazillion plugins that enable you to add just about any functionality to your WordPress website as you would want. You don't want to get carried away with too many plugins though, or you may affect performance. I also like that it's free since it's open source. Yes, you do have to pay web hosting fees if you don't own your own server but those are negligible.

Cons

Cons are that while the software itself is free, you will have to pay a 3rd party hosting provider like BlueHost or Siteground to host your site for you (unless you own your own server, which most people don't). Also the fact that there are SO MANY different themes and plugins to choose from, this could be very overwhelming to newbies. There is also a bit of a learning curve to understand how the navigation is built, the difference between pages and posts, what are widgets and how/where are they used, and all the other areas of the administration panel.

### "WordPress made it easier for a beginner blogger like me!"

October 13, 2022

5.0

I love how anyone can start blogging or simply share whatever their content is because WordPress is beginner friendly! I've started using this when I was in my mid teens and now I'm in my mid 20s, I still love using it and it feels so nice to be able to share my art this way.

Pros

I love how I can easily post anything that is related to the kind of art that I do! I can post excerpts from books I'm too shy for others to see. I can post the poetries I know so well that aren't meant to just stay on my journal and even in my heart. I want to somehow be able to touch the heart of others through poetry and story writing, WordPress made it possible for me to do so.

Cons

I'm still a student and maybe, the least thing I like about this software is that I do have to pay for some upgrades but no matter what, the prices are still reasonable!

### "Why I think everyone should be using WordPress"

February 8, 2019

5.0

For any any start up I would recommend using WordPress its easy to use and it grows with you.

Pros

WordPress is 100% free!!!!!! I have been using WordPress for years ( i.e WordPress.com and WordPress.org) back when I was junior systems administrator and now that I'm self employed, and I will tell you its ridiculously easy to use. You don't need any specialized web development or programming skills to use it. Everything is almost plug and play. In fact if you can turn on a computer, If you and read and if you can click with a mouse, you can use WordPress. Its that simple and easy to use. WordPress is the platform most commerce sites/blogs are built on consequently when it comes to apps and support there is no lack of finding any. Even thought I said WordPress is free and it is. There are some cost associated with using the service or application. The cloud or online based service allows you to host you WordPress site for free or use one of their other offering for a fee. However there is the free application and easily downloadable software, for which the only cost associated is hosting and maybe the design of a theme if you don't want to use any of the free ones available all over the Internet. It doesn't matter what you need a site for whether blogging, personal or ecommerce, WordPress can do it. Your WordPress site will always look the same. It doesn't matter what operating system it being hosted or viewed from, whether its a mobile device or desktop, Its going to be the same and legibly too.

Cons

The choices of themes and plugins can be very overwhelming especially to a newbie. The free cloud based version is limited re the use of plugins but you a good cadre of free plugins from Jetpack

### "Wordpress is best CMS for Bloggers and E-commerce webistes"

September 25, 2021

5.0

WordPress is the ideal platform for beginners since it allows new users to quickly and easily create a responsive and professional website. WP is the most popular content management system (CMS) for creating websites and blogs. It is also the most used CMS for creating classified websites. It's one of my favorite content management systems (CMS) because of the low cost, which is particularly beneficial for smaller organizations, as well as its mobile-friendliness and simplicity of use for administrators. The plugins and the diversity of templates are very appealing to us. In general, we have less customizable requirements than other companies, therefore it's critical to understand your digital requirements before looking at content management systems.

Pros

WordPress is an excellent platform for website administration, particularly if the individual in charge of the website has little or no expertise with WordPress. This is due to the fact that the software is very simple to master. In a short period of time, you may learn how to create new posts and pages, or you can just copy current material to act as a starting point for new content. Previewing material before it goes live is simple, and you can even plan it to be online on a certain day and at a specific time.

Cons

Because of the huge number of plugins available in the WordPress environment, it is fairly unusual to have plugin conflicts. Troubleshooting these issues may be time-consuming, and they can even cause your website to go down. Unfortunately, WordPress does not yet have a built-in backup feature. Additionally, there is no built-in SEO capability.

### "Pre-built templates, and in-depth customizable-ness for power users. Wordpress is powerful."

October 13, 2021

4.0

Wordpress has been a go to for me for a number of websites, due to the ease of finding a template with a look a client likes, and then being able to change and customize it to function how I need it to (sometimes really extensively).

Pros

Although originally designed for web blogging, the flexibility and extensive options to customize almost anything (if you are using a template that is designed for it) in Wordpress is invaluable. Whether a special css and html code in a page, or a plugin to create a contact form, being able to customize everything from a-z if you really want to, makes Wordpress preferable to a lot of other building platforms out there.

Cons

I did like the old built-in page editor better than the newer Gutenberg editor. Even when using 3rd party page builder plugins, when navigating and using the Gutenberg editor to access certain things, it can be clunky and frustrating.

Reason for choosing WordPress

I had a wide range of templates available for free or reasonably priced, and was able to find templates that allowed me to modify practically every aspect of them without limiting me to narrow, controlled options.

### "WordPress Wizardry"

5.0

It's the best investment one can make for themselves. I certainly gained a lot from knowing how to setup a WordPress website because now I can sell my services to people who don't know how to operate in an online environment.

Pros

When I first started using this platform, I was all of a sudden saving so much money from what I was used to spending on hosting a website. To develop and deploy a website on WordPress is quite straight-forward and very well worth it in the end. I could not believe how well supported WordPress is online until I took a jab at it and saw this for myself.

Cons

Being that everything is based on a plugin method, I feel like the plugins that should not be compromised on are security plugins. I think those should come pre-loaded on websites that will be used for business or e-commerce and then WordPress can charge people according to that when they sign up.

Reason for choosing WordPress

It was definitely more cost-effective to run and a lot more fun to use due to the enormous amount of support that comes with this platform, there's practically a plugin for everything.

### "The perfect website builder for the developers."

August 3, 2021

5.0

Overall this is the best tool for developing websites. I have developed websites for my company using this application and the experience was really good. The tool might be difficult to use but it saves days worth of time when compared to building websites from scratch. The SEO management is amazing in this tool.

Pros

This application is robust and provides all the features needed for building a website. It have a lot of templates we can choose from and also we can import/export the template and start modifying it. It have many pages and plugins that already have the necessary extensions and API, which can be added to the website directly. It has newsletter, contact page, themes, plugins, domain management, forms, etc., all these are provided in a template form and just needs to be added and modified.

Cons

The cost of this application is expensive. The monthly, yearly rental can not be afforded for personal use. The customer service is a bit poor and issues are not resolved on time. The deployment of website is a bit confusing, and modifying the in-built templates is difficult for users not known to that programming language.

### "A short course may be needed"

October 4, 2021

4.0

It's useful and you can easily create a simple site, but customising it can be difficult. You can either use a WP's template and do everything yourself or choose the difficult way and be ready for lots of issues and crashes. Even though it's hard sometimes, I recommend WP as a useful tool. There are lots of support groups on Facebook, so you can usually find the right way if a few minutes. You just need to know basic definitions like: ftp, plugin, admin panel etc., so you'll know what are the other users telling you.

Pros

It has a huge variety of features. WP is very popular, because it lets the users create almost anything - shops, simple sites, portfolios. Lots of my friends use the software.

Cons

There were tough times, when some plugins crashed or updated. I highly recommend WP, but if you want to use it professionally, you should at least take some good course. Having an IT person around (or being one) will probably save you many times while using WP.

### "WordPress is the CMS for Everyone"

August 6, 2021

5.0

Overall, my experience with WordPress has been extremely positive. It has really streamlined my website and content management such that it no longer takes hours whenever I want to make updates to my various websites.

Pros

WordPress has a great deal of built-in functionality. The ability to manage a website and content updates as a team, to seamlessly change themes without having to reload the content (the beauty of CSS), and analytics make it a powerful platform. What really elevates it as a product though are all of the plugins. These enable advanced user capability, from ecommerce to in-depth analytics and more. If you can think of something you need your website to do, there's a good chance there's already a plugin that does it. If not, WordPress does give you the ability to tinker with the raw html.

Cons

While WordPress is great in a lot of areas, my biggest frustration in general lies in the themes. Due to the vagaries of programming, features and capabilities vary across themes. Most free themes are serviceable, while some of the paid themes that offer the functionality I want are a bit too pricey. What's more, if you decide to adapt a theme with custom html, when WordPress updates (which it does frequently--not a bad thing, mind you), your theme or portions of it will often break, leaving you to either wait on the theme creator to update or for you to go in and tinker with the html yourself.

### "Wordpress: Once Was Great"

January 13, 2022

3.0

Wordpress used to be a godsend for me in the 2000's, allowing me to quickly make my own blogs. I eventually became a full WP front-end developer and made hundreds of WP websites. But I grew tired of the awful performance, theme/plugin management and crashes. Not to mention WP is a target of hackers. I moved on to Squarespace for template deployment.

Pros

Wordpress can be great for beginners, especially if they're looking for a blog-based website. And with the mountain of powerful plugins and themes available, the site can scale with the user's needs.

Cons

Unfortunately, Wordpress is really showing its age. It can be notoriously slow, plugin compatibility can break (and must be monitored constantly), and themes can be easily broken and become ugly/non-functional.

Cons

### "Very Customizable, Not Beginner Friendly"

August 20, 2021

4.0

WordPress has always been a solid choice for websites. It's highly customizable, updates frequently, and is fantastic when you're trying to integrate a blog, e-commerce, or a database. I always recommend it to those who want an original look, unique from the majority of websites in their industry. However, I don't recommend it to those who have a team who aren't tech savvy and/or coders. It's truly not for beginners.

Pros

The possibilities with WordPress are basically limitless. You can code most things into existence. The built-in MySQL backend is great if you're looking to work with databases. There are lots of plugins already built to accomplish anything you can't, or don't want to, build yourself.

Cons

It's not friendly to team members who aren't programmers. You can use plugins to emulate the drag and drop experience, and a friendlier UI overall, but it's still tricky for those who aren't too tech savvy. It's also not easy to import existing data and it's a pain to update all the plugins.

### "Web content building tool"

August 5, 2022

5.0

I use several CMS to build websites, landing pages and e-commerce's. WordPress is without a doubt one of the best. It's easy to manage, and it has a regularly active community that helps web content developers solve day-to-day problems.

Pros

WordPress is one of the best CMS tools out there today. With it, it's easy to create web pages, blogs and even e-commerce. Content Management is also a straightforward task, along with scheduling posts. By installing some plugins, you get the expansion of routine automation tools that make building, posting and managing content for the internet much easier.

Cons

The tool is excellent, but there are some functions that we need to install plugins that I believe could be native to the basic installation, such as forms integrated with landing pages

THE item has been incredible to me, valuable to the call. Building apparatus that allows you to make any sort of site you can imagine. It's very adaptable, meaning you have unlimited oversight over the plan and usefulness of your site. You should be capable at coding, nonetheless, to arrangement, use and oversee WordPress. WordPress began as a genuinely standard writing for a blog stage (WordPress.com), yet immediately transformed into a modern web designer (WordPress.org) that allows you to make any site you can imagine - including enrollment, discussion, online business, business sites and more. The adaptability of WordPress allows you to turn your substance, pictures, video and more into a practical websiteImagine WordPress as Microsoft Excel. You enter information into an accounting sheet and Excel will produce the lovely diagrams and graphs. WordPress does precisely something similar. This so astonishing for me.WordPress is open-source and allowed to utilize, you can profit from the information on an enormous local area of clients and designers.

### "The Easiest Way to Go Online While Having Access to All Necessary Features"

February 20, 2019

5.0

I have used Wordpress quite a few times, both for my personal use and for helping others set up their website. I have found this software to be exactly what I needed, especially when the end user isn't sure about the final approach they want to take in order to display their pages. For this particular reason, the sandboxing features of Wordpress work wonderfully well to show in real-time to the owner of the website how one change in the dashboard will affect the website. It has saved me from many headaches: instead of having to try to fix an obscure bug in an unknown platform, having access to the well-designed and unified interface of Wordpress makes a big difference when maintaining a website. I haven't had to troubleshoot a problem too often, rightly because it just works. And even when the owner make changes, it is usually painless to revert the changes back to a working version thanks to the handy revision history.

Pros

Wordpress has become so easy to use that it is the platform that I recommend by default to any friend or customer who wants a robust solution while having the freedom to interact with the software. It doesn't require technical abilities very distinct from those necessary to work with a text processor. Setting up a website is a matter of a few minutes as almost everything is automated: there are even many web hosting services that integrate Wordpress and it is as simple as ticking a checkbox to get started in those cases. The administration area or dashboard provides an impressive amount of accessible features, such as the ability to switch themes on the fly, activate, remove or update plugins while displaying the level of compatibility with the current version of Wordpress or modifying many settings for the website. I also like how everything is nicely split into categories: one for posts, one for managing media, one for comments, etc. This makes it effortless to find exactly what one is looking for and there are many plugins available to enhance any aspect of the workflow. Plus, someone who knows this software well can easily modify any moving part as he/she wishes, making for an experience that's apt for any type of user.

Cons

In my opinion, the most complicated facet of managing a Wordpress website is to do with updates. It is practically inevitable that one update will eventually break some functionality in the website which brings confusion, especially to the novice. I should point out that there are plugins available to mitigate those situations (allowing to rollback to previous versions of themes and other plugins), but one has to be careful before blindly applying available updates. One drawback that's to do with the plugin library is the fact that it may be hard to find the appropriate plugin for some specific purposes and the desired features are sometimes available only to paid users, which is totally fine by me, but disappointing for those expecting everything to work out of the box. This drawback aside, the plugin library is really extensive and there are many high-quality plugins to choose from, reducing even further the technical knowledge that the administrator needs in order to make things work without too much hassle.
