### "Highly flexible for building your website or web presence"

May 26, 2020

4.0

It's been a really nice and flexible tool for my personal website and easy to build with the available tools. I like learning how to use it and the components. If you're just want a site or a blog to contribute to, there may be simpler options, but the big plus of WordPress is the community around it and the vast range of plug-ins and options.

Pros

I have been using WordPress for my own website and as a contributor / admin at other companies for over 5 years. It's the more flexible tool I have used for building a site and adding content. Lots of plug-ins, tons of templates to choose from. It's really easy to control who has access to it, and what their permissions are so only specific people can add/edit/delete content. It takes a bit of time to set up properly, but in comparison to other website/blog tools I have used it has the best features. It's meant for people who want to build something more extensive than a simple website (like Wix.com).

Cons

Like all software you have to stay on top of security updates, as well as any plug-in updates. It requires an admin if you're going to use it for business (or managing a proper online presence, e.g. a NGO). Sometimes there are too many plug-ins to choose from if you don't know what to look for. You have to think about design, security, responding to comments, mobile design, etc. Same goes for any other website tool. Consult their forums (wordpress.org) to do some research before you go in. And make sure security is at the TOP of your agenda.

Reason for choosing WordPress

WP was recommend to me by friends who know their website stuff and they were right. it's a great tool, but you need to learn to use all its potential.

### "WordPress: Press your words"

October 26, 2021

WordPress is indeed one of the best website builders. It comes with an easy navigation interface perfect for beginners. It offers multiple templates with no payment. Such helpful software!

Pros

What I really like about this software is that it's free. Just by simply creating an account, you can have access to thousands of website templates. Not to mention that they are fully customizable with a live preview.

Cons

Not all themes are free. However, it doesn't bother me that much knowing that paid themes are more attractive, offer more features, and come with premium options.

### "Wordpress: Value & Functionality"

January 17, 2019

3.0

I have experience with various site builders including Wordpress, Squarespace, & WIX. I have used free options with Wordpress & WIX. Overall, I find that Wordpress is a good choice for someone who is looking to start a blog, is a complete rookie to site building, or wants the least possible site management option. When it comes to posting things like photography, blog posts, or poetry - Wordpress is a good choice. It formats things easily, is free to have, and requires little to no maintenance. It also has a large enough community that you can receive a decent amount of feedback on your posts rather easily. However, the templates are very limited, and it doesn't allow for very complex or personalized design.

Pros

My favourite things about Wordpress are the price, the amount of maintenance/work required, and the community. Wordpress has free options that really allow you to have all the functionality you'd need out of it - which is hard to find nowadays. As well, posting your content onto Wordpress is as easy as writing a word document. Wordpress will do most of the formatting for you, and you can also schedule when to post. The community is also a big plus as it allows you to gain a small following rather easily, and receive feedback/comments without having to do much more than post.

Cons

My least favourite thing about Wordpress is that the templates are rather basic and limited, and that the personalization or level of site you can build is low. If you're looking to just write written posts or post photos, and you're fine with using an existing template, then it's perfect for you. However, if you want to build a personal or business site that is a little more complicated than just posting content, it is probably not the right choice for you.

### "If you can dream it, you can build it with WordPress"

December 14, 2018

5.0

I run a small website agency and WordPress is the platform used on virtually all client sites. With endless design options, and available features it gives me the flexibility to create websites that meet our client's desired outcome. WordPress websites see a lot of pressure from hackers. Keeping a good, current backup of the website on hand is always a good idea, as is securing the website with one of the available tools out there (firewalls, etc.).

Pros

WordPress is a fantastic open source platform that gives you supreme freedom to build your perfect website. First, it's free, which is awesome of course, but the WordPress ecosystem is so huge that you can find support or ideas for virtually anything you could dream up.

Cons

There is a definite learning curve if you are considering jumping into WordPress. From installation, to theme installation, plug-ins, page builders, CSS, HTML, etc. Granted, some themes are extremely user friendly, which allows you to create a very functional website with very little investment in learning WordPress. Additionally, what works today may not work tomorrow, as WordPress, themes and plug-ins are all updated regularly. With each update comes a risk of something breaking on your website. Again, the good news is there are so many WordPress users, that you can typically find a solution to your issue very easily.

### "Wordpress, the start of it all"

March 5, 2019

5.0

Magnificent way to present an idea or a business. Make it as large (think Variety or The New Yorker) or as small as you wish, it will be nicely coordinated, well put together and !! easily indexed by Google so that the author is not the only person who can admire it, indeed, it will be available to the world for posterity, or as long as someone foots the hosting bill. The only way I will build a site.

Pros

What I like most about this software is the incredible flexibility of posts and pages and plugins. You can almost count on being able to do ANYTHING you want to do with text and images. I'm old school, I started doing websites in '95 ... and I did them in Dreamweaver mostly, even learned the whole CSS coding thing because it was so much more powerful than Dreamweaver. Then, I found wordpress.

Cons

I'm not terrifically happy with the "new Gutenberg editing experience" -- Or block editing. It seems to me to be clumsier than previous versions, and there doesn't seem to be as much control over chunks of space that weren't an issue before. I'm sure I'll get used to it (I can remember resisting the use of a mouse when they came out and now I have an amazing collection of the things) but I don't like enduring a new learning curve when I'm under the gun with work and clients ... C'est la vie, it will all be done when it is done.

### "The years go by and WordPress remains my favorite CMS"

December 7, 2019

5.0

It's always been fantastic and i have been able to consistently produce incredible results. The themes just keep getting better and making it easier to build your vision furthermore letting you focus on other value-add activities. Even if you are on the fence about whether going with a LAMP stack is right for you it's really too cheap not to give a test run.

Pros

Where to begin: 1) It's completely open source, well documented & supported by the community. 2) Plugins and supplementary tools (i.e. MAMP) are usually all free for use but those that are paid are very affordable. 3) Themes available are truly outstanding (Divi, Elementor among countless others) and effectively save you hours of development work by providing essential features and functionality you would have had to write yourself. 4) No licensing costs whatsoever! 5) Endless options for hosting and support that are also very cost-effective.

Cons

Sometimes with a tool this widely used you can see an over saturation of documentation and bad advice on the internet. For the most used CMS on the planet this is expected and also something that is really only a point of frustration when starting out. Also, people coming from enterprise CMS' like Sitecore might find the deployment process frustrating as well.

Reason for choosing WordPress

Price, open-source, community and flexibility.

### "Why would anybody not use WordPress"

April 5, 2023

5.0

Pros

I have been an avid user of WordPress for over 10 years, in both personal and professional applications. I love the way WordPress takes the guesswork out of creating a great website, either with a pre-built theme or a page builder like Elementor. With the vast number of plugins available, the possibilities are endless. I cannot understand why people code websites from scratch. In my opinion, WordPress is the only way to go.

Cons

Absolutely nothing. In my opinion, WordPress is perfect.

### "The swiss army knife for the web"

November 26, 2019

Actually I use Wordpress with the Elementor Pro plugin to create website for clients which are not sure what their website look should be, and it works pretty well cause I'm able to make changes with very little effort.

Pros

Wordpress power a lot of websites on the whole internet, so his value is pretty proved on the field. You can build almost anything on it, from simple blogs (which is the CORE of Wordpress) to social network websites, to e-commerce all via his plugins ecosystem which is humongous. Think of something you would like your website to do and there will be a plugin for that!

Cons

It's widespread adoption has made Wordpress one of the most hackable system on the planet, so be careful where you host your site and keep it updated!

### "A Swiss army knife for content management"

June 20, 2023

5.0

Pros

It does everything I need to run a website and blog as an independent editor. Because it's such a major platform, it's usually easy to find help articles on the web and plugins for any features I want, and other services have integrations for WordPress.

Cons

It can get technical and I wish I had the programming savvy to clean up code or figure out what features and plugins I don't need. I find the design customization panel confusing--it always takes me several clicks to find the right place to make changes in my website/blog appearance.

### "The only option I'd use for my website for my start-up"

June 9, 2019

5.0

I used Wordpress to host my start-up Journo Resources and it's been a well functioning and customisable solution. It was easy to set up, I'm able to do the majority of it myself, and I've found it easy to integrate the work of outside developers. As my business is based entirely online, it's important for me to have a lot of control, and this helps me to do this is a customisable way.

Pros

There are a number of features I'm a big fan of on Wordpress.org, mainly centred around ease of use, customisation: • This is one of the easiest pieces of kit to set up in terms of your website, and they're very good at walking you through how to tie it all together when you're starting out. • It's intuitive, so you don't have to spend a lot of time explaining to people what they need to do, and there are good (and customisable) permission levels so you can make sure the right people have access to the right things. • The platform is free! All you need to pay for is your own hosting. • It's incredibly customisable. There are no shortage of Wordpress developers out there if you're looking for a custom build, and there are thousands of plug-ins and themes which can sort you out if you're looking for an out of the box solution. For the most part, I don't need anyone else to look at the website on a day to day basis, and am able to effectively manage it myself.

Cons

There is a ratings system on the plug-ins, but it would be good to make this more robust. Generally, though, I'm very happy with the service.

Reason for choosing WordPress

I had looked at Medium as a method of posting my news and feature content, however, they'd recently scrapped the integration with Google Analytics which was a complete no-no for me.

### "Best Free Tool for website Design and Development"

August 2, 2021

5.0

Overall experience with WordPress is amazing. I am using WordPress as a website builder for the past 5-6 years and it was always easy to use. Limitations aside, we have developed multiple static and some dynamic websites on WordPress. WP as a content manager and website builder is highly recommended. It is also highly recommended for static websites especially.

Pros

The most likable thing about WordPress is its ease of use. Either you are a technical person or not, WordPress is so easy that anyone can learn to use and build websites. Another thing in its ease was that in the organization, the developer made the website, and after that other nontechnical persons used to update the site on regular basis. Along with ease of use, the plugin feature is amazing, you have a number of plugins according to your requirement. If you don't have an available plugin, you can simply write a new plugin of your own, according to your own requirements. Content Management is another good thing about Wordpress. It do many thing on Auto.

Cons

The least likable thing about WordPress is its limitations. When you are building a website on WordPress there are few design limitations. 2nd thing is plugin compatibility. The publically available WP plugins are 3rd party plugins, and sometimes the administrator faces compatibility issues.

### "Maybe showing its age"

May 13, 2020

4.0

Overall my experience was positive. In terms of getting started quickly, lots of free tools and good analytics, WordPress still ranks up there. The last few months I have found better alternatives though.

Pros

WordPress is still a pleasure to use due to the fact that it's relatively easy to get started on producing content, there are a ton of free templates to choose from, there are some really great standard plug-ins you can integrate with no hassle and many of its core, must-have-features are still free. Additionally, there is a long list of integrations that you can start incorporating into your site, if you're prepared to read/watch a couple of tutorials and maybe tinker with some HTML. Speaking of HTML, still a very useful option that you can ingest code from open source providers or code you have written yourself. It has a robust analytics dashboard with some really useful, standard reporting options available for free, and you can of course integrate Google Analytics if you need more.

Cons

Using the platform over the last 5+ years, towards the end, it felt like I was running out of steam, creatively. As someone who can't code, it felt more-and-more that I would only get the best out of the platform if I could code, like it was forcing me in that direction. I would build a site for a specific project, get close to finishing it, review what I've built and realise, I just wasted the last 2 days. Not because the functionality wasn't there or the site was fundamentally broken, but it just didn't translate into what I envisioned the design should look like. Maybe that's it, it felt like I had to wrestle the software to get it to do what I needed. Now I know that's mostly on me because I can't code, but as describe further on in the review, there are alternatives that don't evoke this feeling. Lastly, it feels like the template designs aren't really keeping up with modern web design trends. Even the premium themes feel like they're maybe 5 years old.

### "Powerfull and Versatile"

December 3, 2019

5.0

Most often I was like - "waht and thats it" after searching for a functionality in the plugin integration. Most issues or Ideas I had could be solved (in many cases) for free by findeing and configuring one of thoausands of the available plugins. This together with user freindly, self explanatory backend made Wordpress for my THE tool of choice. I have recommended it serval times and also helped freinds to implement personal websites or proof of concept pages.

Pros

I use Wordpress to set up my small business Site. I am a soloprenneur working as Coach and trainer and my Website - which I use WordPress for - is my main Media outlet. BEsides building my portfolio and posting Blogposts it does a lot more. Plugins enabel social Media sharing, interactive Forms and support SEO optimisation. Elementor especially is a very userfriendly WYSWYG editor for creating and maintainig pages. The powerfull and integrated plugin ecosystem of wordpress, together with fantastic WYSWYG editor functions for content is the best explanation for the wide usage for the platform.

Cons

Some features are a bit cumbersome. It was a pain at first to integrate Youtube Videos as they would be fullscreen no matter what I gave as size constraints (solved it by using Elementors inner sections in the end) and teh default post editor is somewhat oldfashioned....but again it is integrated with WYSWG Elementor functionality and after I understood this the last issue I had was gone. Finally the ecosystem of plugins helps but I often have to run a google search and read a comparison review on which one fits my needs best. All of the above are, however Problems I rather like to have, than not to have so, therer are no real issues.

Reason for choosing WordPress

All Google Reviews and other ressources I consulted showed evidence, that WordPress wuld be more suited to my needs.

### "Good Website Builder Platform for Complex Sites"

July 24, 2020

4.0

I have used WordPress to set up and run websites for my company, and overall it's been a really effective platform. My company wants their site to stay fresh and constantly change because it's aimed at a young audience, and WordPress easily lets me do that, since there are so many options for customization. It's not a platform for beginners, in my opinion, and probably isn't worth the cost for simple sites for individuals or small companies. But for corporate or entertainment sites, I would definitely recommend it.

Pros

By far the coolest thing about WordPress is it's extremely high level of customization. Honestly, if you want your website to do something or look a certain way, WordPress will allow you to do it. There are plugins for any functionality I've wanted, and the best themes it offers are customizable as well and can really look fantastic. It's a website designer's dream.

Cons

The one big con to me is cost. WordPress advertises itself as free, but if you really want to take advantage of the platform, you are going to have to spend money. The best themes and plugins aren't free, and you will definitely end up paying quite a bit just to host the site after setting it up to look good. I've been fortunate because my company is paying for everything, but for an individual shelling out their own money, it can end up being pretty expensive.

### "WordPress is Robust and Evolving"

December 13, 2018

5.0

Overall WordPress has been a staple, it has helped me create various kinds of sites and I have found it continues to grow and expand as I need it to. In particular, if you learn PHP and JS coding languages, I am sure there is no limit to what can be done with it.

Pros

I've used WordPress since around 2007 or before, and I must say it has greatly improved since then. I enjoy that WordPress is open source and that it is feature rich and customizable. There is practically a plugin or solution for just about any and everything you can imagine. I've used WordPress to create blogs, websites, memberships, directories and much more and I find it never has let me down. And now that WP is moving into doing more with React/JS I am sure in the future things will be even easier to create. WordPress for me is the top choice when building sites because it is truly flexible, it may have a learning curve but it is not complicated like many would have you believe.

Cons

One of the only downfalls is that you need to have a good eco-system to fuel your WordPress site. By this I mean you must have the perfect combination of: a good host, good security system and best theme and plugins in use to maintain the quality of your site. Not really a con for me, however for a newbie they may find this challenging.

### "WordPress is the gold standard."

January 21, 2020

5.0

I am using WordPress to confirm people's first experience with me and lay out the options for working with me. Additionally, in another install, I run a training school using an LMS that provides a high-quality experience for my clients. WordPress makes it easy to deliver great results and manage my budget.

Pros

WordPress has a wide range of features that really makes anything you want to possible. With all the add ons in the catalog, you can find a capability expansion that makes your web vision possible with a minimum of work. You can absolutely make good things happen with the tools available and with just a few clicks you can receive payments, schedule appointments, maintain your web presence and manage social media. If your vision is clear, WordPress can make it a reality.

Cons

The sheer number of options can be a bit overwhelming, but if you have a clear sense of what you want to do you're in good shape. Definitely plan out what you want to happen before you begin and then you'll be able to bring it to reality. Be careful that you don't go searching for what might be possible while you think about your vision and definitely stick to your budget, as add ons can get expensive.

Reason for choosing WordPress

WordPress had what I needed at an affordable price. For a small business, that was essential.

### "Perfect for Simple Sites"

December 10, 2019

3.0

While we have a software and web development team, it is our marketing team that makes use of WordPress due to its ease of use. I say ease, but we've found that to be dependent on the user. The average user can easily be overwhelmed by the number of customization and settings options available in the out-of-the-box WordPress experience. WordPress is a beast of a CMS. The average user can get plugins to create some beautiful websites, but a lot of the special effects that you see on larger, corporate websites come with a price tag. Many plugins have free versions but the really desirable functionality requires a paid upgrade and enough knowledge to install and configure it. If you're looking for a simple (or somewhat sophisticated) website for your small-to-mid size business or blog, WordPress is a great platform. However, if you need complex functionality or mind-blowing design, be prepared to pay in money or in time (learning how to be a web designer and developer).

Pros

There are so many plugins available to help users get the visual appeal they are looking for with minimal effort. WordPress is also one of the most approachable Content Management Systems (CMS) that you can find. All that and it's free! You can't beat that price!

Cons

If you need custom functionality or a more robust e-commerce solution, you should look for a software / website developer. As easy as it is to use WordPress in its out-of-the-box configuration, it doesn't have some critical features that more mature businesses want or need. Using plugins is a hit or miss with most providing only some of what you need, but not all.

Reason for choosing WordPress

While we have web developers, we wanted something simple and easy that our marketing and design teams could use to market our company's offerings without requiring developer intervention.

### "One of the BEST platforms for web development"

December 10, 2020

5.0

Wordpress has helped me establish and maintain many businesses that has posivitely impacted every industry I work in. It is easy to organize and build web platforms and fanbases while having features that imply it's abilities are almost infinite considering how many 3rd party plugins can be used within the context of.

Pros

Highly integrateable web development platform may be my favorite in the industry. Easily allows for plug in support while being free in many respects has opened up the world of web development so much so it has supported and continues to support many industries and the evolution of the internet in general.

Cons

I have minimal if any complaints about this platform because if Wordpress support cannot help you, the HUGE base of coders, designers and users of Wordpress may help you solve your problem.

### "Fantastic product"

August 26, 2021

5.0

I absolutely love working with it. PHP on the server-side with Javascript on the client-side, with the freedom to create what I want.

Pros

Extremely flexible as a "web engine". Having full control over my code while maintaining a solid CMS to save time.

Cons

The WP\_Comment\_Query class holds no parameter to query 'spam' comments. I had no way to contact WordPress regarding this and understandably so, as most questions can be answered in the forums. However, this is a tiny feature lacking that caused a big problem and the call for a workaround by trashing the comment and then querying it. The only 3 $status parameter options available are 'hold', 'approve' and 'trash'.

Reason for choosing WordPress

Depends on the product. React has given me the ability to build mobile apps. MERN and Next.js offer faster speed for web-based apps. WordPress works best as a CMS and for eCommerce.

### "One of the best CMS platforms on the market, but difficult to maintain"

March 5, 2019

4.0

WordPress is my go-to CMS. Despite its flaws, it can be an effective website building tool so long as you are prepared to commit time or money to actively maintaining and updating websites.

Pros

I've been using WordPress to build websites for several years now. When used properly, it can be a powerful tool to build beautiful and functional websites. The administrative panel is also very easy to use, and clients typically have no problem updating their own website content. Additionally, there are countless awesome plugins and themes for WordPress that help to add virtually any functionality that you can imagine to your website.

Cons

WordPress sites are time consuming to maintain, and they're prone to hacking. Only build a site on WordPress if you can commit the time (or hire someone else) to check in on the site weekly to update themes, plugins, and PHP versions. Additionally, you'll want to ensure that you're running regular backups and security checks to look for malware. If your goal is to build a website and be done with it, use another platform. WordPress is also making a lot of changes, so many plugins and themes are not compatible at the moment. This isn't a huge deal as WordPress doesn't force users to update to the latest version, but it can be a hassle.

### "WordPress Shines for Web Site Administration and Content Management"

June 20, 2023

4.0

I am overall satisfied with WordPress. Compared to hand-coding a website, it is a huge timesaver. Unless you have an overriding reason for coding by hand, I would strongly recommend WordPress.

Pros

I no longer have to code raw HYML pages, etc. in order to have a professional-looking website up and running in short order. If I decide I want a different lok-and-feel to my site,I simply switch themes and “voila!” If some feature is wanting, chances are someone has already released it (often for free).

Cons

Performance can be an issued the more plugins one installs, requiring plugin management strategies. Not all plugins play well with others, often requiring one to play detective in order to resolve an issue.

Reason for choosing WordPress

I don’t recall the products I was using prior to WordPress, but the lacked the sophistication and extend ability that WordPress provides.

### "Excellent way to make a website"

August 25, 2022

5.0

My personal experience has been really good and I am very happy with my website and with the fact I can easily update its appearance by changing the theme

Pros

I use Wordpress for my business website I like it because it is free and very easy to install on your website host it takes les than 10 minutes. It has lots and lots of free templates that you can customize and with the latest update you can build your own website from scratch. If you’re not that technically inclined it’s really easy to find a pre-built template to suit the business industry that you’re in. There are plenty of plug ins available on Wordpress which allow you to build an online store and take payments including PayPal and Stripe. I have used Wordpress for many years and can’t recommend it enough for ease of use and functionality

Cons

Need to be able to upload it to your website host so will need additional sftp software

Reason for choosing WordPress

Ease of use and free software. A I,it’s to change look of website easily and ability to integrate merchant payment solutions such as PayPal
