### "As a tech blogger, wordpress makes everything easier"

December 22, 2019

5.0

Overall it is very easy to use and I love it. I am using it everyday to write my blogs and communicate with my audiences. So they get my blog post updates and come to read it. Also they often leave comments in the posts and I know their feedbacks and replies. It is wonderful.

Pros

The setup of wordpress blog is way too easy, you only need to fill up required information for your blog and click a few buttons. I also have the options to format my blog and create different pages. I can also create widget to place on any pages or posts. There are thousands of themes in the market that I can choose from. Some of them are free and some will cost reasonable amount of money. The best thing is I can sign up the premium option and I get paid by wordpress when my audiences reading my blogs.

Cons

The text editor has some bugs often, especally when I copy and paste content, the format get messed up and I have no way to fix it. So I have start over again. It lacks of some formats that I needed, especially when I try to insert programming code and I needed them to be formatted in different color and formats.

Reason for choosing WordPress

Medium is a website to post blogs and articles. I have tried it and find it is actually lack of functions of formatting my blogs and rearrange items on my posts.

### "An easy to start generic platform, best for landing pages and light-weight solutions"

October 15, 2021

4.0

A great platform to start with in order to test out an idea without lots of initial investment. Great for MVPs and demos or for simple one-pagers. For more specialized use-cases, might consider either building a custom solution or using off the shelf dedicated solutions (e.g., Shopify for an online store).

Pros

A LOT of documentation exists and very easy to find talent to tweak, expand and manage the platform. Tons of addons exist that can expand the functionality without much custom work. The platform is very mature and stable, addressing most of the popular use-cases like customer base building via landing page and email collection, online store with integrations with all the payment providers

Cons

The platform is too generic, therefore it's difficult to make it run fast or scale well for a single use-case. Add-ons and extensions are often developed by single engineers and lack the necessary level of support, riddling the platform with security gaps. Official extensions are pretty pricey, getting into the area of customized solution in terms of costs.

Alternatives considered

[Shopify](https://www.capterra.com/p/83891/Shopify/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

Cheaper to enter, easier to expand.

### "WordPress makes building some of the most complicated sites cost effective."

January 31, 2018

5.0

Pros

Most of our clients are people who need help with their WordPress website after they've been taken for a ride by the likes of Wix, Shopify, or Squarespace. Click-together websites are just meant for VERY basic sites if you're not serious about your business. What you really need is WordPress. If you need to run a store, install the free WooCommerce plugin to get that functionality. WordPress is EXTREMELY easy to manage, and it's EXTREMELY configurable. That's why it powers around 1/4 of the entire internet.

Cons

The code under the hood is a HUGE disaster. I would never consider hiring an engineer who writes such terrible code. It's formless, much of it isn't even using classes, let alone namespaces, and the WordPress team refuses to let anyone refactor it. The WordPress Core team is so inundated with bureaucracy that they don't see clean code is something that belongs in their codebase. I'm not saying that out of spite. I'm saying it because it's true. I'm shocked that WordPress even runs as "smoothly" as it does. (That's in quotes because with enough plugins it'll start slowing down tremendously. However, a properly-built system should mitigate most of those issues so it can handle far more code.)

### "Hey Look, Another WordPress Site"

December 5, 2018

4.0

WordPress is great for what it is. A content management system for posting. If you are still of the opinion that you need a website, and don't have a lot of skills to do so, WordPress can provide EVERYTHING you need, with the exceptions of what it can't do (and you'll likely hit those barriers, but be okay with it). If you are an advanced web developer, you'll find it intriguing, the simplicity. The difficulty in making a 100% custom theme will likely lead you to a commercial theme (template?), but then you'll settle for something that works, especially a few versions later. Maintaining updates isn't a big deal, but don't let your website go stagnant. Overall, I am happy with what WordPress brings to my table, having multiple sites running the software. It's not perfect, but I don't think there is anything closer.

Pros

Wordpress is an excellent, low barrier of entry platform (CMS) for the web. It's useful for beginners, and features that will be handy for advanced users. "Web Skills" are not required for anyone, and it's an excellent publishing platform to allow a variety of users, with permissions, access to add content. It's reasonably fast, and has plugins galore. (Boy does it have plugins). There are piles and piles of themes out there, so you can get pretty close to whatever you want out of your WordPress site. There is a nice app that works well for remote posting, but I do prefer my desktop.

Cons

WordPress is basically the #1 CMS in the world. That also means, it's the top targeted platform. Every exploit, web hijack script on earth is targeting your system. Have a strong password, have an SSL key, and keep it up to-date or you will get hacked. And even then, you might still get brute forced. Dynamic sites don't scale very well with a high number of users, or an extreme amount of content. Plugins are a blessing and a curse. You could setup some advanced things that then get "lost" when the plugin is no longer supported. Finding a "Great" theme that's exactly what you want is a challenge. Making your own layout is a beyond the scope of most users. Minor customization are doable (module / drag n drop).

### "WordPress - The King of Web Content Management Systems"

July 12, 2020

5.0

Overall, 10/10 can be given to WordPress without any doubt for all the best usability features it offers.

Pros

I am building websites utilizing WordPress for 13+ years. I have also built sites utilizing many other widely popular content management system based frameworks, but, none have had the ease of use as WordPress has. Clutter-free Backend User Interface, Easy to navigate, self-explanatory administration panel, Hundreds and thousands of plugins available to fulfill your requirements without paying a single cent, flexibility to extend the website with more features whenever necessary, build your e-commerce website with a very easy back-end interface utilizing WooCommerce, even a non-technical person can build a quick website utilizing readily available free themes at WordPress repository. The best part is, WordPress is backed by a strong community that is readily available to assist each other whenever you have a doubt or clarification. There are 101 reasons why I love WordPress and recommend it without a doubt. It is indeed the king of all web Content Management Systems.

Cons

During my past decade of experience with WordPress, I have not come across any considerable negative experience with WordPress. It always has the best Pros.

### "A tremendous Software if you have lots of time to constantly manage your site"

October 26, 2022

Overall, I would opt for a different web platform. The constant updates, incompatibility issues and security vulnerabilities are just too much hassle for what it's worth.

Pros

I have used WordPress for 25+ sites for more than 10 years. It's loaded with features and gives literally anyone the ability to create amazing sites. It's very expansive and relatively easy to use.

Cons

It constantly needs updates. Good templates and plugins are very expensive.

### "All these good reviews have something in commen. Most people reviewing this have only ever used WP"

October 12, 2023

1.0

In the end WP is a blogging platform and should NOT be used for your big corporate website. It has to many flaws for a that.Using any of the DIY theme builders you will create a good looking website that will become a maintenance, security and SEO nightmare. The amount of hours you will spend trying to fix stuff could have been spent on a system that works well. You will create a monster with 1000 plugins that will break the site as soon as there is a php update.Horrible, then more maintenance and money spend. WP is not a good idea unless it for a small DIY website for self or a small business

Pros

Its easy to install and get up and running. There are TONS of plugins.Great as a blog

Cons

Tons of plugins make the website a nightmare. Every day something stops working. You get attacked all the time so security needs to be on point at all times.Bad choice for a multi website CMS

Reason for choosing WordPress

Had to use it because of clients wishes

### "The Only Choice for Website Management for Large Websites"

August 22, 2023

5.0

Our marketing team couldn't function without Wordpress. It's the best platform out there for our needs. In the next year, we will be starting to create a new website. We will be building that website with Wordpress as well.

Pros

Wordpress gives you flexibility and customization that you don't see in other products. I use this product daily for my job, and it makes my job easier. The functionality of the platform makes it easy to learn, and easy to update content.

Cons

We sometimes get in the weeds with Wordpress updates and all of the plugins that we use for our large site, but I am satisfied with how Wordpress keeps everything up to date.

### "Constantly upgrading free website builder"

June 1, 2019

5.0

I have started to use WP very long time ago with no experience or established skills to build websites. At that time I needed a lot of help from more experienced coders to help with customisation. Now many drag and drop site building options are built on WP and the functionalities are getting better and better day by day. I have tested a couple of other platforms to build websites but I always and up with WP as the best and easiest option for me.

Pros

The evolution of WP is impressive especially after using it for over 15 years. The flexibility of the open source platform attracts millions of developers to create themes, plugins and simple codes to form and shape the look and functionality of your blog or website only limited to your imagination and creativity. Easy to set up on most hosting accounts even as an automated step.

Cons

The amazing simplicity or text and image editing are unlimited if you have good coding skills. Without it, you have to outsource the coding to someone else and that can be a risky / expensive experience. As the code is open sourced and WP is constantly evolving, some of the themes and plugins are not compatible with others or with the core code anymore. Regular updates are necessary for security purposes and the update can lead to a conflict with your existing customisations.

### "If you don't use WordPress, you're crazy"

November 13, 2018

5.0

Pros

I love WordPress. I've been building websites using WP since 2009. I first tested it out as a blogging platform with a few (sitename).wordpress.com blogs. Then I got into using it at a company I interned at in 2012, then used it at another company I built websites for in 2015. I now use WordPress exclusively for my own business which I started in 2016. WordPress is flexible, you can really do so much with it. You can also customise it to suit your needs. It's open-source, so you can, if you need custom development done, hire a developer and get into the core code to create what you need. If you are DIY'ing, WordPress is great for that as well. Install a page builder, and you've got an entirely new world open to you. You can connect all sorts of systems to it, from Google Analytics and email marketing software, to spam blockers and security systems. You can run your business website for large and small businesses using WordPress. It's robust, and it's the only platform I recommend to people, ever.

Cons

It's not the most beginner-friendly option for a website. But YouTube has excellent tutorials. And learning about this stuff is the way forward for many people. (Entrepreneurs, I'm looking at you.)

### "WordPress is being used."

March 13, 2020

5.0

Overall this the best software to build a Landing page very fast with in hours and add plugins, addons and convenient theme for your business.

Pros

It the a best option for non tech guys to build an fast blog like website or download of the themes and apply to Wordpress. This is the fast solution of newly starting businesses for building an landing page and integrate some plugin on third party software. Of course it could be use more professional solutions but this is the best for starting. Additionally telling it has tons of plugins available for this software.

Cons

There may a lot of cons on this but I can mention the one and most famous that sites on Wordpress is running very slow. if it's not configured well the code is becoming mess and it's hard to fix something when non professionals work on it.

### "A honest review on WordPress"

November 28, 2018

4.0

I will still recommend WordPress anytime and any day, especially for those who are either too lazy or just want to dabble into web dev for fun. Woocommerce is definitely one easy to use online shop plugin, there are thousands of sweet themes for your blog, company, church, school website design. It's fabulous.

Pros

WordPress is one of the easiest web development platforms to use, whether your web-dev skill ranking is noob, or you have the proficiency to work at Silicon Valley. One great point of WordPress is easy-to-use and easy-to-reach one click install themes which are not only responsive to any screen size, but are breathtaking to look at, and cut across several projects. Almost every needed web development project has a pre-made customizable theme, free or paid, depending on how far you like to venture, waiting for you to discover.

Cons

Most WordPress projects exhibit slow loading speeds, and if you do not know the required plugins to use, or how to rewrite codes to boost page speeds, you might lose a lot on SEO. Also, if you aren't knowledgeable enough, installing a WordPress script might just give someone with dark intents easy access into your project and utilities without realizing it. As much as WordPress is fun, it's also one of the most vulnerable platforms.

Never had an issue - host all my sites on Wordpress

Pros

Intuitive and easy to use. Lots of plugins. Easy to update. Design functions are readily available through free and paid for templates

Cons

The constant alert for plugin vulnerabilities. That said it is down to the user to update and remove unwanted themes and plugins. TBH what makes it good also makes it "bad" :-)

Ease of use - cost - availability of plug ins

### "Wordpress Revolutionized My Blog and Website"

January 12, 2018

5.0

Pros

Wordpress is incredibly flexible when you self-host the site you can add almost anything you want thanks to an array of plugins that allow it do just about anything you can imagine. Whether you are a hobby blogger, a content creator, or managing an ecommerce site, Wordpress can be tailored to your needs.

Cons

Using Wordpress is like using any other open-source solution: you have to be mindful of security, update everything (not just Wordpress but all the plugins) consistently, be diligent about good password hygiene, and so forth. I've only had one very minor security in my 11 years using Wordpress and it may not have even been Wordpress's fault! That's the problem, no one could tell me where the vulnerability was. But once I cleaned my site, updated everything (Wordpress, Theme, all plugins) to current versions and installed better passwords, along with a better security (malware detection/removal) for my site, then the problem was dealt with, and hasn't returned. So was my site vulnerable because of Wordpress? Because of my theme? Because of an outdated plugin? Again, no one could say. But the lesson I learned, every Wordpress user should take to heart: be diligent about updates and security.

### "Top Notch Option For A Website CMS"

October 10, 2017

5.0

WordPress installation makes it a LOT easier to manage website content without having to rewrite every static part of the site on each page - sure, it results in a little code bloat, but for the time it saves, especially when the website has a blog, it's totally worth it! And it's not like there isn't a plugin or htaccess tweak to take care of THAT as well ;)

Pros

WordPress is bar none the top choice for building a website. Between the endless options for customization, the ease of use for novice users, and the overwhelming support and documentation, even a beginner can build the site they would like to have the world see. And if you're a developer - it's like being a kid in a candy store, with even more options if you're willing to get your hands dirty in the PHP files! I should also note, this review is for the core WordPress.org download and install - not for any paid themes or hosting or such. That being said, WordPress stands on its own in terms of both quality and quantity.

Cons

The biggest problem as with any large CMS with plugins is the occasional incompatibility between plugins and themes or plugins and plugins - this is expected, and really the biggest reason why it's a good idea to have a professional at least oversee what you're doing in case something goes wrong.

### "As a former online marketing and website designer, Wordpress is my go-to platform!"

December 13, 2017

5.0

Wordpress helps me easily manage multiple websites without having to worry about coding correctly or other complicated issues. I am able to easily update several websites in minutes without having to contact someone to help me login to a server or update the sites for me. I love it!

Pros

I love the flexibility of Wordpress - knowing that if I want something to happen with a website, it can likely be done with Wordpress, whether that's through a plugin that currently exists or by hiring one of the thousands of developers that work with Wordpress daily. I also love that if clients don't like their designer / website host or anybody else, they can take their Wordpress site with them - they don't have to worry about someone not being able to help maintain their website, as there are plenty of people that are able to help. I love that it's open source and if someone is interested in doing more management themselves, they can find great resources for that!

Cons

The only dislike for me is the number of plugins and/or themes that are not maintained or simply written with poor code. In the economy of open source, you don't always 'get what you pay for,' and you might need a little know-how (or hire someone) in order to make sure you're getting a good plugin or theme.

### "A decent tool not only for a blogger, but also for a company"

September 29, 2021

5.0

I think WordPress is great, if you a) are a blogger or b) a company, which doesn't really care about the data security, so the potential leaks won't hurt so much. It's not hard to learn how to use it, and it creates a lot of opportunities.

Pros

WordPress is quite easy to learn, but via a lot of plugins, it does offer tons of possibilities – starting from creating the page, ending with writing articles. There are a lot of addons that allow checking stats like SEO, page views etc. Also, the text editing process is pretty simple, there aren't many distractors and options like bolding or customising paragraphs are available.

Cons

It might be hard to figure out what to do, if you do use too many plugins. Sometimes they might interrupt each other, so you have to be careful during the process of implementing them. Afaik from cybersecurity professionals WordPress also doesn't have quite good security systems and it is easy to hack.

### "The best platform to host my website"

October 7, 2021

5.0

My experience with Wordpress was and is being excellent. I don't intend to change platforms anytime soon and with each new need I always find a plug-in that solves my problem. As a matter of fact, I don't even have time to study all the options that exist.

Pros

The fact that it is free and has an amazing structure that has ready-made templates, easy to use and customized. For me the issue of having ready-made templates helped a lot when I was starting in digital marketing creating my online structure. Another point that made me choose WORDPRESS was the fact that it contains thousands of amazing plugins that with them you can do everything from improving SEO, do online forms and surveys. As a result I was able to maximize my time and reap more professional results every day. It also features excellent technical support.

Cons

Despite having templates ready when you need a more specific customization they end up not being enough and after some time using the ready templates I had to make a specific one for my needs. Another point to be aware of is that sites that are too large or with a lot of access can present instability.

### "There is a reason that 30% of the web is using WordPress"

November 2, 2018

5.0

I use WordPress nearly every single day, even on weekends, and I have provided numerous clients with a website using WordPress as a CMS. A number of those clients came from a website that they simply could not update at all on their own and they are usually completely blown away by how easy it is to edit their own website when I'm done. WordPress just gets better too with all of their staff staying on top of innovation and modern practices.

Pros

WordPress is versatile, extensible, easy to write plugins and themes for, and very easy for those that maybe don't know much about websites at all which is my favorite part to provide to my clients. On top of it all, WordPress is doing a great job at staying ahead of the curve and "changing with the times" with their most recent version utilizing much more modern front-end languages than a lot of the competition which is still pushing around the same old PHP code; And that is coming from a person who made a living with PHP for a long time...

Cons

My least favorite part about WordPress would be how difficult it can be sometimes to extend. The core functions are sometimes a little slower than just writing your own queries / functions. But, if you know what you're doing then it's still the top dog of content management systems to provide to your end users.
