### "Feedback on WordPress from a non-technical person"

December 6, 2018

3.0

There are definitely issues with how WP allows core file access from themes and plugins - which can make it insecure if you don't know what you're doing, but used appropriately it is a solid choice for making a website.

Pros

Ease of creating a new platform. It takes less than a day to set up a fully functional website. The best thing about it is that it allows a non-technical person to build a sophisticated website. It's better than average in terms of speed and power, as long as you minimize plug-ins and do your homework on the ones you decided to add on. I use it because i am able to allow different level of access to other colleagues who wants to update their own content using a WYSIWYG editor, without touching SSH/FTP, without worrying about deploys. Moreso, i am able to maintain my low budget with Wordpress and the necessities are there.

Cons

Personally, I am a lazy person so more customizable tools would be ideal. Moreso, there are many low-quality plugins are there out there for WP and it takes forever to find a great plugin. The problem is that the huge repository of themes and plugins makes it very easy to abuse, especially if you aren't a developer or if you are a developer just wanting a quick paycheque not caring about the quality of the sites you produce.

### "Best Software to Develop Professional Websites"

April 10, 2020

5.0

My overall experience with WordPress is very good. I use this content management system platform to develop my personal websites as well my friends websites. I have developed a number of websites for my close friends. I find WordPress very awesome, because this software allow me to build any kind of website without the knowledge of different programming languages. So in short, I really Love WordPress.

Pros

WordPress is the most famous Web Development software where we can develop websites from the beginning level to advanced level. With free plugins and themes we can build professional e-commerce, business and personal websites. The dashboard is really simple and easy to understand. The options of the premium themes are really awesome. Because if we are using premium themes, then we can do a lot of things without the coding.

Cons

For me the options and features of the WordPress are easy to understand. Because from dashboard we can install themes and we can build the website. Only few plugins need some extra editing options through coding. So I recommend that every plugin features should be easy even for the beginners. All other features are really incredible.

### "One of the best CMS platforms - I love WordPress!"

March 2, 2021

5.0

I use WordPress on a daily basis, as a Web Designer / Developer. I've mastered the platform and know the backend like the back of my hand. The interface is clean, and intuitive but could do with some nice upgrades visually.

Pros

Easy to use, Easy to customise and it is FREE. I've built hundreds of websites on WordPress, all with different requirements, some large, some small. Its so easy to install, and add plugins to your website which means less requirement for coding. Which in return, saves time and money!

Cons

The software has a lot of updates, for both Plugins and the CMS itself. This can become time consuming.

positive using it every day as part of my job, and always learning new things and ways to achieve what I want to achieve.

Pros

simple to use easy to add plugins, and themes to - easy for client to manage their own site and amend content

Cons

in its raw form as a platform, its pages are cumbersome to style without a plugin/theme added. also export/import doesn't always work as expected not pulling all the information from the pages/posts or graphics on occasions

### "A rich-featured Content Management System."

April 16, 2019

5.0

WordPress is every beginner first choice for hosting the site with power of WordPress. The process of installation and upgrade using FTP is user friendly. Managing user and content is also easy and simple with the advance and simple user management interface. Hosting website using WordPress need minimal coding as it comes with build-in features. We have started using the e-commerce listing using amazon and flipkart to list our products on our blog.

Pros

WordPress is a CMS system best suit for blogger and website master. The Business plan comes with the advance theme template customization for easy edit of CSS. Google Analytics come with the default in Business plan. The open source edition is also able to configure the same. WordPress responsive design CSS help to view the blog in different devices and platform. The number of Widgets and plugins help to customize the blog. WordPress provide the SEO friendly architecture for URLs which help to increase the blog ranking.

Cons

WordPress needs to work on their market-place so it can help in providing the clean and trusted plugins. Auto upgrade support first need to check the plugin support with updated WordPress version.

### "The software that works like modelling clay "

May 18, 2020

5.0

Wordpress allowed me to build many sites, for personal and professional purposes. It also served as a base for creating sites for some customers that I have.

Pros

Wordpress has a big advantage. It works as the base of a pizza or a piece of clay you can model as your creativity demands. You can give it the most simple look and escalate into a very intrincate design.

Cons

When you give the first steps it's a bit counterintuitive. You have to dominate a few tricks to get it working and it has some hidden gems to extract the full potential. As it is used in every part of the world and has a lot of developers devoted to it it's not hard to find a big quantity of information about it.

### "The best way to create a website without being a programmer"

February 12, 2019

5.0

I have used it for all websites since 2007 ranging from personal blogs to my main business site, landing pages and websites for groups I volunteer for.

Pros

The core Wordpress has all of the basic features that you need to get a website or blog published. With the thousands of themes and plugins available, the sky is practically the limit to how much you can customize and expand capabilities to fit your needs. While there is a learning curve involved, it's not hard to get started.

Cons

Being such a popular product, security is a concern. It is important to take steps to secure your site and keep up with updates to prevent hacking, malware, etc. The amount of themes and plugins available can be overwhelming and just like their prices range from free to very expensive, so does the quality and unfortunately price is not a good indication of quality. Some plugins are very user friendly and well document while others are very technical and difficult to use. You have to be careful because a wrong setting or conflict with a plugin or theme can break your site so it's important to create regular backups.

### "I have a love/hate relationship with WordPress"

April 12, 2019

5.0

Honestly? It's a near tool but operate without a professional by your side at your own risk. Avoid BuddyPress templates like the plague - you will be hacked to bits. To operate a community on WP, you'll need to hire someone to manage it because they are majorly targeted by bots, and WP doesn't seem to have solutions (it's been a problem for YEARS.)

Pros

I love that WordPress can help folks make websites for virtually free that look professional. I love that they sell templates that make them look not "bloggy." I like that I don't need to know a ton of code to get up and running. And something about WordPress warms my heart - I can't put my finger on what it is.

Cons

Since a lot of people use this, you can't really get in touch with support. You have to rely on community forums, where a lot of people are nice. But some of the coders are total snobs so it's hard. I only know enough code to be "dangerous," so I can't tell you how many times I have spend over 10+ hours trying to figure out an error or weirdly placed image on one page, only to get attitude from people or no answers at all. While I like the idea of a free market when it comes to making templates, I am not sure that all of them are checked, especially the plugins. We have been hacked so many times due to this and it's frustrating. And when a template designer discontinues support for a template you purchased (most likely because it was some person in their basement who has lost interest,) you are kind of S.O.L., my friend.

### "Great CMS for SMBs"

August 2, 2019

4.0

I love working with WordPress and would recommend it to any person or SMB for a website.

Pros

I've used WordPress in various facets for 6+ years and love the ease-of-use and flexibility. I have used the site in various marketing roles and have worked with developers on customizations, implementations, etc. WordPress is a great solution for allowing non-dev folks have more control over the content and look-and-feel of a site, which can be particularly helpful for small teams that don't have dedicated dev support or, if you're in an agency setting, for allowing clients to have more control over their own site. WordPress is easily customizable through themes or via custom design. The WYSWYG editors are great for previewing and perfecting pages and content before you launch. Additionally, plug-ins allow you to beef up your site by adding additional tools, features, and functionality. As a marketer, I particularly enjoy the Yoast SEO plug-in; it's not the 'end all, be all' SEO tool, but a great starting point.

Cons

WordPress is not a great solution for users that are NOT tech-savvy. Yes, the interface is intuitive, but only if you are at least somewhat familiar with tech and CMSs. Some super-specific customizations can be difficult, and some plug-ins might not work well together. Additionally, I would not recommend WordPress for eCommerce. There are other solutions—Shopify, Magento, etc.—that are better suited to handle the unique needs of an eCommerce site.

### "Perfect platform for my Music Business!"

May 1, 2020

5.0

I have had quite an amazing time with using WordPress for my business. I recently updated my website, and am now pursuing SEO with my hosting provider to make sure more people are searching for my website and buying my services!

Pros

I love the implementation of plugins, themes, and the ease of use making pages, etc. One does not need to know how to script, because WordPress handles that for you in its design interface!

Cons

It can get extremely cumbersome when using 3rd party design plugins, like Elementor for instance, because of both fighting for control for some of the key elements, like the header, footer. I also found making a blog quite difficult with my current setup.

Alternatives considered

[Squarespace](https://www.capterra.com/p/143461/Squarespace/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

Because of the ease of use in creating blogs. Of course my opinion has changed a bit on that, but I believe when starting from scratch, it is much easier to make a blog, then having a "Completed" website implementing one.

### "Awesome Free Software But Too Bad It Takes Money To Use It"

June 1, 2018

5.0

My primary business for some time devoted to creating and hosting websites for customers is completely dependent on WordPress.org. The problem it solves for me is being unemployed because if it weren't for my second line of business to create e-learning, then yes I would be out of work.

Pros

This is not just blog software as it was originally. This is a full-fledged CMS, capable of embedding full HTML source and integrated with e-commerce and many other platforms.

Cons

There is not much to dislike. If anything, I dislike some of the features that have been implemented over time which could be done much better. Some of them increase overhead and really aren't necessary. It'd be great if there was a more stripped-down version of WordPress which was dedicated to being light-weight and we could add features if we wanted. And it'd be great if we could also easily remove some of the features which increase overhead, but that's not likely. In other words, it'd be great if WordPress.org software was more modular and you could activate features when needed instead of requiring the full enchilada without choices to remove some ingredients.

### "A Standard for websites, especially for small to medium businesses"

November 26, 2019

5.0

After a shaky start, WordPress has become one of our swiss army knifes. We opt to use WordPress much more often than we used to. Why? Because customers expect more and want to pay less. As a result, we do less all-custom website builds than we used to, and use WordPress as the starting point. With other build tools out there, our workflow has sped up considerably and we can complete websites in less than 1/3 the time that we used to.

Pros

Quick setup, updated frequently, thousands of paid and free plugins. It is supported by ISP's other software, and is customizable to fit customer business objectives and budgets. The API is open, which allows for a great deal of customization and future adjustments to match our customer's changing needs.

Cons

Occasional core updates are problematic. For this reason, we wait for some weeks when a new version is out before updating our customers to ensure stability. WordPress could take a little more time to be sure the new versions have better stability before feeding the notice to update to the dashboard. This is a known issue, and veteran WordPress uses all do this.

Alternatives considered

[Joomla](https://www.capterra.com/p/161648/Joomla/)

Reason for choosing WordPress

Joomla drops our profit margin so low, that we refuse to build with it any longer. It is a good tool for technical work, but a terrible tool for a businesses' bottom line.

### "WordPress = My #1"

May 15, 2019

5.0

Not only has WordPress helped me organize and create my website in the way I envisioned it coming to life, it also has given me the ability to maintain it over time. WordPress makes updates painless, it helps me monitor comments and it even offers plugins to protect against spam and hacking. I really think WordPress is the way to go – even if it's a little more heavy lifting in the beginning to create your website.

Pros

I work in the marketing/advertising/website-building industry and a lot of people I know will recommend Squarespace for quick websites. I couldn't disagree more. I've tried a variety of website platforms like Wix, Squarespace and others... but WordPress always comes out on top for me. If you ACTUALLY want a professional looking website, use WordPress. It gives you the most flexibility along with a large LARGE variety of templates, widgets, design options, forms, etc. I have been super pleased using WordPress for the last three years hosting my website, and I haven't thought twice about switching.

Cons

Honestly, sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. If you are truly just looking to throw a simple landing page up, WordPress might not be the best solution. There are a ton of different features and options you can add in and it took me a while to figure out what they all were/how they would help my website. You really have to put in the work and spend time building your website with WordPress... but when you do, it's way better than anything its competitors offer, in my opinion.

### "Great for novice and pro website builders"

July 12, 2018

5.0

I am able to quickly and easily create professional-looking websites for our many business projects and have been able to grow in my ability to utilize the software better over the years. Wordpress is easy to update and customize in just about any way I can think of.

Pros

I love the fact that it is straightforward and simple enough for a complete newb to make a professional looking website, but it also has so many options for a professional to make something truly amazing. I use Wordpress for all of my websites and have grown quite a bit from just using the software and learning as I go along. Whether I am creating a blog, a static website or an e-commerce page there are a multitude of themes and plugins to create the kind of site I need.

Cons

I like so much about Wordpress it is difficult to find a con. I think it would be that it is easy to become overwhelmed with the sheer number of possibilities when it comes to themes and plugins that it is easy to go too far and try to make something that is more than what I need. I have to remind myself to step back and only include what I need for now, that I can expand later.

### "A solid, reliable platform on which to build some excellent websites."

May 2, 2019

5.0

I'm a web designer and I design and build websites for clients on top of WordPress, as well as my own sites. It's not perfect - nothing is - but it's very good. There are a few features that I'd like to see baked in natively, rather than requiring plugins, and it can play up a bit with cached older/newer versions of posts which can get confusing, but overall I wouldn't use anything else really.

Pros

It's ubiquitous and very easy to train up clients on the basics like adding blog posts and making minor changes to pages. The possibilities as a designer and web creator are almost limitless with all the themes and plugins available, and you can of course create your own on top of WordPress too.

Cons

WordPress gets a lot of stick from certain areas of the dev community, but really it's mostly unfounded. It could be a little tighter in places, security wise, but in recent versions they're being a lot stricter about PHP versions etc., so it's all headed in the right direction. The new block editor needs some more work, it's not quite ready for the primetime yet I don't think, but as I almost exclusively use page builder tools it doesn't bother me too much.

### "MY THOUGHTS ON WORDPRESS"

August 7, 2020

5.0

WordPress allows you to maintain your business either large or small. It is very helpful for entrepreneurs and eCommerce as well. It provides so many opportunities for young businesspeople. You can easily give your website a domain name for free. WordPress presents multiple choices for themes. I like the built-in blog feature, you can access it from any device at any time so anyone who wants to add a blog to his website doesn't have to create a separate one for it. The WordPress community offers so much support by making it secure. The SEO is the key to rank on Google, WordPress sites tend to rank high because of its constant updates in tools and plugins. Overall the WordPress CMS is very simple to use.

Pros

You can become an amazing blogger if you choose WordPress. It is a platform that provides you many different themes, there are a variety of themes available on WordPress at such low prices. I think no better platform can give perfect SEO optimization like this. WordPress has everything related to SEO. It helps me a lot as I can maintain my sites wherever and whenever I want, you just need a little knowledge about web development.

Cons

If you are a newbie and don't know about web development basics then it can be difficult for you. Some features of WordPress which are SEO based can create a problem for a beginner such as its tagging system can work against the user.

### "WordPress is the perfect CMS for just about any website"

September 20, 2018

5.0

I use WordPress to build every single site I create for my own projects, from simple blogs to full-blow e-commerce sites (thanks to the WooCommerce plugin and extensions), and I build every client's site on WordPress as well. The only time I don't use WordPress is when I just need a quick landing page, at which point dedicated landing page software/services are quicker to get set up and go live with.

Pros

WordPress is an ideal solution for building just about any website thanks to its solid foundation, its cost (free), and how customizable it is thanks to thousands of useful plugins and fantastic looking themes that are available with a few clicks of the mouse.

Cons

The only two downsides to WordPress are: 1) websites built on WordPress are frequently targeted by hackers due to how prevalent it is across the internet (1 in 4 or 5 sites use WordPress), and 2) it's a bit bloated if you only need a very basic site - but that's just because it has capabilities for so much out of the box. Fortunately, issue number one can be mostly resolved by using any of the top WordPress security plugins, most of which have solid free options, and powerful paid upgrades.

### "Great, strong platform for bloggers, but perks can get pricey."

July 6, 2018

4.0

Being able to blog and customize a website with little to no experience in any coding languages. Most easy to use and aesthetically pleasing blogging platform out there at the moment.

Pros

I have tried many different blogging platforms. This by far is one of the best ones, particularly because of what they offer for free members. Free members have control (mostly) over design/layout. It has menus that are intuitive and works right out of the box, so to speak, making it easy for even novice users to use for blogging. The customer service, if you can afford to pay for one of their premium packages that includes it, is great.

Cons

Customer service for free users is mediocre at best. Perks such as having a custom URL, custom layouts, having more variety of templates available for website look and feel, and being able to remove the WordPress logo are useful features, but can get costly. The pricing model can be seen as burdensome and taxing for users without a sizable income. Given that a lot of services today require large annual or monthly payments, this is one of those pricing models that cause consumers to pick and choose their battles to decide which services are most worth it. For a professional blogger, this software may be worth the investment for premium services. For someone using the platform as a hobby, they may want to pass on the premium features due to pricing, even if they would ultimately be worth it in the long run.

### "website design and development Freedom even if you don't know about website development "

January 18, 2019

5.0

Being SEO expert, I know most of the time we had been asked to start a website with lesser budget, that time Wordpress was the only solution to go and get the work done even in few dollars. From the Start, Wordpress CMS has been free, open source website development platform, we just need to download it, buy and domain, view most suitable design from free available designs and modify it accordingly. Just in few hours, we can build a completely professional and functional website for free.

Pros

Open source, easy to use and very cost effective website building tool, which comes with a lot of add ons, free design templates, a full free blogging service with anytime upgrade-able option. Anyone can create website and blog with simplest approach. Plus, the custom support is all time available to get your questions answered.

Cons

Its not a drag and drop website builder platform so are the only one to control your website, 2ndly you have to take care of data backups, security and update of your website, and these update comes periodically and you have to update it on regular basis which means you have to control design and template of your website with every next update.

### "Great Platform for Blogging"

June 18, 2018

4.0

Pros

While the entirety of our website utilizes WordPress, I primarily use it for our blog. With the addition of the Fusion Builder plugin, blogging is incredibly easy. WordPress itself offers an immense amount of options and functionality that put other platforms (of the same scope) to shame. It does have somewhat of a steep learning curve, but they do a really good job walking you through the basics. If you're looking to build a professional-looking blog that doesn't require immense amounts of coding/html knowledge, WordPress is where it's at.

Cons

Plugins can be a total disaster for the entire site if you're not careful. WordPress is incredibly versatile and open. Unfortunately it doesn't do much in the way of letting you know what to use, what not to use, and how to react accordingly. While I can't totally fault WP on this, it would certainly be nice if they had more of a filtering presence on the plugin scene. I can't count how many times I or someone else has added a plugin that has brought our site to a halt, or erased a day's worth of work.

### "wordpress, is easy now"

February 19, 2021

5.0

wordpress helps me a lot, because i am a beginner in websites, and wordpress makes my life easier, just a click, voila you already have a website, with lots of features that make it easy for me to operate my website, so far wordpress makes me comfortable

Pros

The first advantage that you can get when using WordPress is that it can be used by anyone. From someone who is very skilled with programming to even beginners can use WordPress very easily. For that, you don't have to be a programming expert to create a professional website using WordPress. and they have a very large community. For those of you who are beginners with WordPress and websites, WordPress has a discussion forum that is useful for sharing insights and new knowledge about how to create a website using WordPress complete with optimization. then you can learn from some of these discussion forums which will specifically explain WordPress tutorials. has many plugins that we can use and have various themes and designs

Cons

has lots of plugins which can also be a problem. If you install too many plugins, your WordPress website will automatically slow down. To overcome this, you can install a caching plugin. Updates when there is feature or function update information sometimes will make these features unusable. Though these updates can patch and improve website security. As a result, the user becomes disadvantaged because of the malfunction of this feature.

### "Great to make a fast landing web"

March 6, 2019

4.0

I administrate webs like www.ecua-american.com / www.ccemipol.com / https://albertonavarrob.wordpress.com daily, so I know how to work with it.

Pros

It is free. It is easy to use if you have some of knowledge about it, if not, you will need time to learn how to configure and made your web. You can find plugins for a lot of things like calendars, planning, reports, and much more, is really useful for a person who has around an hour daily to practice how to create or improve the webpage. Time to create a web page: 2 hours to 5 days, it depends the knowledge and the quality that you want, and of course if you have clear all you want to share on your website.

Cons

It is complicated to create a web page without any of knowledge, you have everything in left menu but it's a little bit square, is the thing that you have and any else, you need a lot of plugins to make most part of the things that you will need in your web page, that happens because the original capacity that you have is too basic, not like Joomla! for example, that is a CMO a little bit more complete (at least for my experience).

### "WORD, also-known-as WordPress, Continues to Be Indispensably Wonderful "

June 23, 2019

5.0

Any writer who is serious about mastering this software will find their ability to share their thoughts enormously enhanced. WordPress helps crystallize one's ideas into translatable and more readily-comprehended language, for almost all to better appreciate!

Pros

As a published poet, and as a professional proofreader myself, it is nigh impossible to imagine my online life as an editor without WORD. It's intriguing that I have an ancient version of WORD on one truly ancient-dinosaur-of-a-computer, as well as the \*most\* recent version of WORD on my newest computer, purchased only a year ago. To be honest, both versions of WordPress are wonderful. The newest version of this writing software has more whistles & bells, yet the reliable, easily-accessed & understandable top bar remains unchanged: Eureka! Here, easily accessed, are your soon-to-be-applied expedient edits & professional wordsmith touches. The top bar is tremendous! WordPress has a ROCK-SOLID DESIGN & its built-in features resolve all or any ambiguity. Once you grasp that the "home" page for Word is your key to the "writing kingdom", you can easily change your font, the size of your letters, and customize your project. The "Help" feature is also very workable. WORD is one of the most reliable and dependable software programs I have ever used. Consistent & truly able to effectively enhance your inner editor's writing-creativity!

Cons

The tiny icons at the VERY top of the navigator bar are so small as to be virtually unreadable.

### "Go for Gold"

April 22, 2020

5.0

Highly recommend it to any and every aspiring blogger.

Pros

There is a reason that Wordpress is the gold standard for web design, especially blogging. Wordpress is updated extremely often, and has nearly limitless capacity for customization to my needs. Blog editing is even easier with Gutenberg in recent releases. So the visual editor is top-notch, I can set automatic backups, security is strong, and I can integrate Wordpress with all my social media accounts very simply.

Cons

It is such an open sandbox that sometimes it can be overwhelming. I have had to learn some HTML and CSS in order to maintain aspects of my site. I appreciate the customizability, but it might be nice to have something a little more controlled, and less wide-open, at times.

At least 7 years ago, Squarespace was not integrating as well with social media, nor providing as much customizability.
