### "Excellent Flexible CMS"

August 22, 2018

5.0

Our business is built on WordPress. I absolutely love it! I've been developing with WordPress for about 10 years now and am still surprised by new implementations I come across. It really is one of the most robust and versatile pieces of software I have ever used, which is why I continue to recommend it to clients as well as most people who inquire about it. There really is very little that you can't do with WordPress.

Pros

I love how extensive the various APIs are for WordPress. With enough technical know-how, you can build anything in WordPress, from entire applications to custom integrations with countless services. From a non-technical user stand-point, WordPress provides a ton of useful features out-of-the-box and there is a HUGE community supporting the project with various 3rd-party plugins.

Cons

WordPress is fairly easy to navigate once you get used to it, but learning your way around the interface can be somewhat challenging for a new user. There are also many features you'd likely never know about without having read documentation about it or hearing about it from someone else.

### "Word press totally captured my image"

December 5, 2020

5.0

So far I am very happy with WordPress and can see myself using it long into the future. I recently have been getting into promoting my business with a website. I started off with Wix, I don't like it, it's too expensive. I just feel like they wanted my money, but with WordPress I don't feel like that! I feel like they really want to help me and they're not as worried about the money. I truly believe I found what I've been looking for in WordPress all along. I thought I had it with Wix but I soon saw that was not going to directions I wanted and it didn't fit my image.

Pros

I have just started using Wordpress to promote my crafting business and I have to say, am loving it! Compared to what I was using before it is so much nicer and comfortable and not so uptight and formal, plus I get to use it for free. Free domain name and all an then if i decide I need or want it, I can up graded. For 8$ a month flyou get lots more tools and storage, video, an photos, even ads for my website. which is pretty good for as much business as it could bring me.

Cons

I have not found one thing I dislike about my word press website, so far. The free version seem to be enough for a beginner like my self I've only been using it for a few weeks now but, with no issues or complaints and I'm happy so far.

Switched from

[Wix](https://www.capterra.com/p/169007/Wix/)

Because WIX is too expensive. I don't like the look and style of their layouts. yes I like how they have example text that you can edit and make say what you want in a more professional way that's not enough to make up for the fact that they're just not for me!

### "WordPress is efficient and functional at delivering your message"

January 2, 2019

4.0

I find using WordPress to be a stress free exercise. I write for a minor sports outlet and produce multiple articles per week. I've used blogger in the past but I have found WordPress to be a much more efficient platform to get my message across.

Pros

Using WordPress I found everything to be clear and concise which helps functionality and efficiency tenfold. It gives pointers on how to improve your SEO score, tips on forming better sentence structure and hyperlinking is but one click away. The drag and drop function for embedding Twitter posts or images is great and just adds to the ease of using the platform.

Cons

Sometimes the Yoast ratings are skewed. For example; the reading difficulty score has a really low bar for reading comprehension, which is set at between 13-15 years old. If you write to a high standard it almost feels as if Yoast is trying to make you dumb down your sentences to make sure your readability score is higher, and in line with what a 13-15-year-old can read. Not ideal if you happen to be writing about something technical.

### "Website "

April 25, 2019

5.0

Pros

With an abundance of pre-built themes and many plugins available, Wordpress is quick to prototype. This paired with the plentiful user documentation and resources means that, with enough research, Wordpress can be used to create a great site to suit your needs. Plugin support for Wordpress is very versatile. Many plugins are also free, or have free versions. Plugins like Yoast for search engine optimization or Jetpack for web traffic statistics can add a lot to a website without a significant time or skill investment. This ultimately allows for a lot of customization for websites. Integration of Wordpress with other services like web-hosting sites is very easy. If a hosting service is Wordpress ready, it is very easy to load your site with the service and quickly have a Wordpress built site up and running. With enough time and investment, Wordpress is an excellent solution that satisfies a good middle ground between custom development using markup languages and drag-and-drop services meant for people who don't want to touch code.

Cons

Balancing load times and performance with plugin and media count can be tricky for less experienced users. While configuring a website, users may find that their website has slowed down significantly depending on how many elements they have added to their site. While plugin support is nice, plugins may not play nicely with each other, causing the website to break with no easy way to roll-back certain changes if proper version control isn't being done. If users want to configure their website with more granularity, they may need to use PHP, which is a tricky language to use and may cause developers who aren't fond of PHP grief.

### "Really awesome platform for launching websites "

August 5, 2021

5.0

Overall, it is wonderful and I use it for all my clients, I am very impressed with the different amount of customizations and themes that you can use to take your brand to the next level. It's easy to use and beginner friendly as well.

Pros

Wordpress allows you to pick whatever theme and plugins you want to create a customized website to suit your needs, whether you are in online shopping or just creating a company page. It is wonderful at offering options for plugins that others can create and access.

Cons

I dislike the amount of support that comes with each theme - the creators are not responsive and usually you have to log in your issue and wait days if not weeks to be able to fix a theme issue which is really annoying in my opinion.

Reason for choosing WordPress

Por el costo/beneficio y al tener actualizaciones mas frecuentes y a la gran comunidad de apoyo al sistema.

### "Best CMS"

As a developer, I setup number of websites in wordpress for clients with too much customization. Documentation of wordpress is very well written which helps a lot in theme and plugin development. I also managed number of websites without doing any customization. It is very easy to create pages and posts on Wordpress.

Pros

\- As a user, wordpress provide everything what a blogger needs. - One can setup a whole website without writing a single line of code. - Variety of customization through plugins - Well documented

Cons

\- Security issues (But there are plugins to make it more secure)

### "Blogging to de-stress"

August 17, 2018

5.0

Pros

There are many studies pointing to the benefits of keeping a journal. Well, I do have a pen & paper journal/diary. But I also use WordPress to keep my things digital and online. WordPress is very easy to use. Create content and publish in a jiffy. There are now tons of templates to choose from. (Of course, the more beautiful ones come for a fee, but there are a lot of beautiful free ones too!) There are also many widgets that can be easily integrated into your blog to further extend its functionality. Running your WordPress via wordpress.com works right off the bat. If you want more flexibility full control, you may want to consider downloading the community version and running it from your own servers or hosted commercially. I am very thankful to WordPress that after so many years (over a decade), they have not removed two blogs that I have created back in college. I was pleasantly surprised that its still up (with the site meter still working, and happy to see quite a number of visitors to the site). I resurrected the blog and it's now more active than ever. I had no need to re-study WordPress since the same functionalities are there, and now even easier to manage.

Cons

For more advanced users, there's a steep learning curve (sometimes, there's even a need to learn how to code or at least study how html/css works).

### "A lot of coding"

June 2, 2019

5.0

Pros

Open source website building tool, very customizable from themes to design, to adding your own html or css code, to a vast variety of plugins and widgets, even third party tools, for backups, products and many more. The thing that I like the most is the forum. Even if you are a beginner at web developing, Wordpress has a very big forum to help you with any inquiry. Highly recommend.

Cons

Because Wordpress can be amazing but when it comes to maintenance and security, you would have to do your own hosting or pay someone to do it for you and this takes a lot of work. If you do not mind countless coding, then you would be okay, but for me, sometimes it is too much.

### "Simply the most robust open source CMS out there."

January 29, 2023

5.0

Pros

Easy to set up, it's written in PHP and there is no lack of PHP developers out there. It's not expensive to hire one off any freelance platforms to install and customize it for you. Literally hundreds of thousands of plugins written for Wordpress. Need something? Likely someone already wrote a plugin for it.

Cons

Security is a huge issue, since Wordpress is the most popular CMS out there in the market, it is very easy to get hacked. Only set up your own Wordpress hosting from scratch if you have computer security background.

### "Content Management Champion"

December 6, 2019

5.0

I don't think there is a website, shop or blog that WordPress can't help create. I'm running a podcast and multiple forums on this and I couldn't be happier.

Pros

It's mindblowing how powerful WordPress is, considering the fact that it's free. I would go as far as to say that this is only part of the reason for its success, as some 60% of all CMS-pages are built using WordPress: there's a whole universe of plugins, free and paid, the interface is foolproof and the results are only limited by your own capacities.

Cons

It can be overwhelming at times. Especially if you are looking for a plugin to, say, have a grid on some landing page, there are some 40 providers who offer similar looking solutions, varying between free and expensive. In fact, the price and the quality of the plugins aren't necessarily related.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing WordPress

### "From landing pages to a fully managed marketplace, WordPress is the best bet"

January 30, 2023

5.0

I love WordPress and I've been using it for many years now, for personal websites and for my clients. This is a great and mature tool, easy to use and customize. And the most I like is that no matter what kind of website you are planing to make, out there you can find a theme and the plugins needed to make it happen.

Pros

The most I like about WordPress is the huge ecosystem built around it. With the core installation you can get a nice small website. But if you need additional features, you're covered with thousands and thousands of plugins and themes build for every single need you can imagine.

Cons

In complex websites (e.g. a marketplace for courses for hundreds of students) you may need to install dozens of plugins, and this could impact your website performance. Of course, you can install another plugin to optimize your installation, but this could be a time-consuming trial and error process, and not always you get the best results. Besides, installing too many plugins increases your chances of incompatibility and security issues. Be aware of using too many plugins.

### "Anyone Can Use Wordpress"

October 18, 2018

5.0

Wordpress has been very easy to use, without the help from others. You do not need to be a website developer to use this CSS platform. I have never had to contact customer service with any issues, but it does seem difficult to find a way to contact them, if I did. Because of its universal appeal, many how to videos are available - there is no need for an website novice to be intimidated.

Pros

I knew I would need a website when I decided to start my own freelancing business 3 years ago. I was very intimidated. However, Wordpress is the easiest website building platform on the market! I am not a savvy computer geek; however, it only took me about a week and I was already an experienced user. Everything is pretty self-explanatory - plug-ins; menus; widgets - it is just a matter of figuring out what does what. And I do not know how to code!

Cons

In order for Wordpress to be completely customizable; you need to know how to code; which I do not. However, I have learned enough on my own to build an informative, creative website for my blog and freelance business.

### "WordPress - still a great website solution - for the right projects!"

November 8, 2019

4.0

WordPress is great for certain types of websites and certain types of project. You wouldn't want to use it as a platform for anything that required serious security and you wouldn't want to let inexperienced users loose on the admin console. That said, if you need a decent looking website fast or you want to test a business concept quickly, WordPress - with the help of an experienced developer - will likely get you up and running faster than other methods.

Pros

WordPress is so widely used that there are lots of ready-made themes to purchased to kick start your project, there are plugins that will let you do almost anything and there is a huge pool of developers you can access if you need help. If you need a web presence fast, WordPress will be a pretty good starting point.

Cons

WordPress does some things well, but there are constant updates - both for WordPress itself and all the plugins you end up installing to make it work the way you want. WordPress might be open source, but that doesn't mean it is free. Add up the time you spend managing WordPress and your plug-ins and you might find you would have better to choose a different solution.

### "A user's honest opinion of WordPress"

May 2, 2019

5.0

Overall I am satisfied with the experience I have had with WordPress. It is an industry leading platform and has a vast array of resources on the web that one can turn to as needed. I have used WordPress many times to create a number of beautifully designed websites.

Pros

WordPress is free and gives you unlimited oversight of your web page. You possess and control all your site documents and information. You are not fixed to a web facilitating organization and can move your site anyplace you need. It gives access to a vast gathering of augmentations, additional items, and modules to expand your site. This huge access to proficient applications enable you to make anything you need. Too simple to tweak with a large number of web compositions and layouts to look over. Every one of them accompanies diverse customization choices, enabling you to make truly extraordinary sites. It makes site assembling simple.

Cons

WordPress has a learning curve and requires some investment for most amateurs to get acquainted with it and become familiar with the fundamentals. Prior knowledge of web development will simplify the user's experience as it can be difficult to work your way around the WordPress platform. The custom layouts and designs don't prove to be easily attainable like one might want or expect them to be. Sufficient planning is necessary and without it, it will be difficult moving forward in the design development.

### "Wordpress is the best & most versatile open source software for blog & website development."

November 27, 2018

5.0

I've been using Wordpress for 5 years now and it's always remained a stable software for myself & clients.

Pros

I love the Wordpress software to design blogs & website for my clients. I love that there are hundreds to thousands of themes & plugins available for me to make each client website different and perfect for their audience. Wordpress offers the best in SEO, it's got great performance, it's easy to set up a theme & design within it's framework, and it provides the ability to not only blog but also have an e-commerce website with the right plugins (I recommend WooCommerce).

Cons

Wordpress can be a bit intimidating and not as user friendly. For this reason I suggest people hire a designer to work on & maintain their website, though if a person wants to learn I let them know that there is a slight learning curve. My only other issue with it is that customer support is non-existent. It really comes down to Wordpress Forums or contacting the theme, web hosts, or plugin developers to help you out.
